The Firm has quite a following. You can find other Firm users in the exercise video forum.
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=178 I personally used the firm for a while way back in 1990/1991 but then gave it up. I used to love the videos and they worked well. A couple years ago, I got back into videos and I wanted something to help me get ready for my wedding and I turned to The Firm. It really helped. I really think The Firm are some of the best videos out there and I'd recommend them. I don't do videos anymore though. |
I'm sort of like Nelie, I've gotten away from videos but these are definitely wonderful. I used them a lot before my wedding too and people were commenting on how much weight I had lost (and it was maybe only a few pounds at that point, it's just that I was so much more toned). I also found them to be the type of videos I could do over and over without getting bored. However, they are difficult (or I thought so) so do not overdo it at first...do all of the modifications until you get the hang of it. Also, you will need to space out workouts because you're not supposed to work the same muscle groups every day. Finally, I would say to have an alternate workout ready to do in case you just can't do the firm for whatever reason (not feeling 100%, etc.) But like I said, I found them difficult, maybe your exercise level is higher than mine. But it's definitely worth it, you will see results as long as you're consistent.

I LOVE THE Firm! I have the Blue Box one :carrot:

I also love the Firm. I don't use them as much as I need to. But, when I get serious, I always know they will give me results.

i used the firm all through college and it kept me in the mid 140s! you can get the old videos for cheap at places like ross, secondspin.com, or even at firmdirect.com in their clearance bins.
i recommend it. i've noticed most of their exercises (lunges, squats, aghh) are the tried and true ones that personal trainers have in their arsenal. |
I used these many years ago and they really are a fantastic workout!! I remember having trouble climbing the stairs at work for several days after doing the workout. If you like videos - these are (IMHO) one of the best out there!
Why I don't do them now? I get bored of videos quickly and have since switched to a gym routine of weight lifting and cardio (I just seem to stick better to this personally). |
I also used to use the Firm videos and thought the older ones (with the mansion setting before the company kind of went through some changes) were wonderful, classy productions. I've had a few of the more modern ones but mostly traded or given them away as I don't like them as much but that said, they are great workouts and probably I should buy a new one and see how I like it these days. :)
As far as do they work, they do. |
they're ok, i just can't stand the instructors.

The firm work out I tried was the one with the stepping stool. I didn't pay 60 dollars for it, no way. I found it at a thrift store. I took it home and used it. It was so hard to do. At 300 lbs, I couldn't keep up. All of the standing up on the stool, up and down, weights, lunges.... I found it too hard physically. It was also too fast paced for me. I couldn't keep up because I didn't know the move set. I gave up after a week or so.

I LOVE The Firm, only, I have to get motivated to start exercising again, one thing at a time. I have the "Fanny Blaster" It really does work, I could see results in my arms/chest and my thighs became a lot tighter, and it's a good feeling to rub the outside of your legs and they feel tighter and smoother.
I will say some of the lower body work is HARD, so I use the combined tape, upper and lower body, it's still hard but........Not as hard to me. BTW, I found mine at a thrift store too, it had never been opened and it was under $10.00;-) |
