ab isometrics

I intend to do isometrics on my abs all throughout the day. From what I have read you suck your belly button in towds your spine and point your pelvis up. I have tried it and I can feel the burn. Does anyone know if I am doing this right? Just started so I can't go by inches.

Hi Everyone,
After reading everyone's stories for a while, I finally bought Shapely Secrets -- received it today. Over the past couple years my waistline has been slowly spreading so that I can't wear a lot of my clothes anymore. If for nothing else but my finances, so that I don't have to replace all of my clothes, I NEED to drop 1 to 2 dress sizes. Here goes nothing! I figured I'd post my progress here to keep me doing it. Keep me honest! Wish me luck!!

Yay! Go Michelle. :)

Michelle342 02-23-2008 03:48 PM

Hi everyone,
It's been a week and, low and behold, I've lost two inches around my waist. I also lost a half inch at my thigh, but gained a half inch on my upper arm (muscle, I'm guessing.) I'm so surprised about the two inches that I'm wondering if I'm measuring wrong -- but I don't think so. When I do the 7 minute workout, it's pretty intense -- it's a difficult workout, but since it's only 7 minutes, I'm finding it very easy to stay with. The one thing I haven't noticed is any soreness in my muscles afterward, but I've always been pretty active -- I've been weight training at least once a week with a trainer for over a decade. I've got my fingers crossed that those two inches aren't just a fluke. I'm dying to get back into all of those slacks hanging in my closet that are so tight right now, they'd be obscene to wear!

I have been lurking around this forum for over a year, so I decided to FINALLY sign up and post a message. I was wondering if someone couple PLEASE PM me the information that was posted of the Shapely Secrets Instructions. Apparently, I missed seeing it by one day! :( Just my luck!

I have 120 lbs to lose, and I have been living with my father since his illness, so I don't have the money to afford the actual dvd's. Please help!:(

I would REALLY be appreciative, since I've been looking EVERYWHERE for this information. Thanks, in advance...

Hi Jennifer,
I may be able to help you. I tried sending you a private message, but apparently I need to have posted 10 times in order to do that. Let me know if you still need help.

Thanks, Michelle. I think I found everything I was looking for on the net. I just need to try to find the information about the Abdonda moves.:)

Hello Fellow Chicks!!

I have been following this thread now for quite a while and I was wondering if someone could PM me as well. I want to try it and do plan on purchasing the system as soon as the money comes clear, I am just wanting to see if it will work first.

Or, Mrs. Jenivere2006, if you don't mind pm-ing me the link you found on the web, I would be very grateful.

I really need a system that will work and at this point I am determined not to spend the money inless I KNOW it will be effective.

Thanks!

Hi all,
Does anyone know the secrets to shapely secrets..
I'm 18 and am so overwhelmed with my weight it feels impossible to even think about trying anymore.
I've tried more things than I can count and nothing has worked.
I was just wondering cause I literally just don't have the money to buy it and I really want to look decent come the summer and for college come september...
I'd really appretiate it if someone could feel it in their hearts to help me.

Thanks!!

Missk,

Welcome to 3FC.

Have you checked our support forum?
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13

I was 300 lbs at the age of 18 so I understand how you can be overwhelmed by being an overweight teenager. It does take a lot of trial and error to figure out what will help you lose weight but exercise is only part of the equation. Calories and what you are eating are a much larger portion of the weight loss equation.

There are many people who in the support forum who have been where you are right now and can give you ideas on how to make sure your weight loss progresses.

There are many other forums on this site that can help you gain the support and knowledge that you need to help you lose weight. Again, welcome :)

roxyfoxy72 03-04-2008 12:59 AM

Don't be afraid to pm me to.
I just stumbled across this site after seeing the infomercial and I am so ready to rid myself of this baby weight.

BlueDrgnfly 03-08-2008 06:26 AM

Bought Shapely Secrets a few weeks ago, and have been doing the exercises for the past two weeks, without any other exercise in my routine and no significant change in diet.

I set out to do the exercises every day (after all, there only 7 minutes!), but missed one exercise the first week and two the next week - However, I am still defintely seeing results!!

In two weeks I've lost:
5lbs
1 1/2 inches on my waist
1 inch on my hips
1/2 inch on my thighs
1 inch on my arms

I've also seen a significant toning of all my muscles and my butt has lifted (I think a previous poster reported the same thing) - its getting all cute and round! :) YAY!

Not too bad for a seven minute workout!

However, I do think that after a while I'll end up plateauing and will have to throw some other exercises in the mix... but maybe that's the pessimist talking.

I'll post my results in a few weeks.

MissK 03-11-2008 06:51 PM

Hey.. I was wondering if you could send me the secrets... I cant afford it... being 18 trying to pay for college and car insurance leaves like no money to try and better myself...if you could please tell me how to do them I'ld be soo greatful.. I've been over weight for my entire life I want it to end already!!
Being 80 pounds overweight is not fun....

nelie 03-11-2008 08:29 PM

Missk,

I noticed the first time you posted and I posted something to you that I'm not sure you saw...

I have been doing these excercises for a week now. I did miss one day, but that day I did go for a walk with my son. I did not measure at all, but this week I am noticing that my clothes (escpecially my tops) are fitting a little better.

thenogitsune 03-13-2008 10:15 PM

Shapely secrets definately works. I have just been slacking off and haven't done it in awhile. Thanks for reminding me I need to get on track again. By the way I haven't posted in so long because I just NOW remembered my password.

I have been doing SS a few days. I don't see much soreness. I don't know if I am doing the breathing correctly though. Is the breathing the trick? Also, I ordered mine 3 months ago and never got it. It was lost in the mail. Meanwhile, they told me they would credit my account but still haven't seen that either. So, then I ordered one off ebay and it was 1/2 the price and I got it the same week. I recommend ebay.
I was just wondering if anyone has good news to share that has been on the program for awhile. Seems, no one post after awhile.
Thanks and good luck everyone...

Possibly look at ebay or somewhere else. We don't allow trading/selling on this website because of so many issues that have happened in the past.

I am looking there now. It doesn't seem that the "whole" set is avail. I see the total body breathing one which I am planning to get. What does the whole set consist of so I know if I am getting it all?

islandgirl23 04-12-2008 07:24 PM

I ordered the system about a week ago, and after reading all of the posts here am really looking forward to starting the program.

Lots of inches and pounds to lose.

Rumour 04-12-2008 09:01 PM

I just received my SS package today...looking forward to seeing what kind of results this gives me after two weeks. And the funny thing was, I was in the middle of my pilates workout when it arrived. ;D I'm sorry to say I ordered the starter kit instead of just the exercise dvds =/ The specific exercises and instructions about how to do them were pretty much all I wanted anyways. The actual 7 secrets are kind of common sense in my opinion hehe.

Starting measurements;

Upper Arms - 13 3/4
Bust - 42
Waist - 36
Hips - 45 1/4
Thighs - 25 1/2

Hopefully I'll lose some inches :]

I tried both the basic workout and the advanced as well for the first time today. Whoever said the tricep exercise was tough, they weren't kidding. You can really really feel the burn. I skipped the facial exercises though, I felt kind of stupid doing them- has anyone been doing these regularly enough to actually notice a difference in their face? :P

frustrated40 04-13-2008 01:44 PM

:D Hey Rumour! Guess we'll be trying this program together. I got mine yesterday. I read through all of the information and did the workout (all of 7 minutes of it) yesterday evening. I like the idea of keeping a log of daily inspirational thoughts. I also belong to a gym but have kind of stopped over the past 3 months. I definitely feel muscle soreness across my upper back, calves, and triceps. I squeezed like crazy! Good Luck with your journey!

Beginning measurements:
upper arm: 13.5"
upper thigh: 25.5"
hips: 43.75"
waist: 35"

Shapely Secrets

I have used this program for little less than a month and i have lost over twenty pounds. It is a seven minute exercise concerning your whole body at one time, and teaches you the way to burn all that access fat without giving up what you love, but cutting it in proportion. Its supportive, and i am loving this program. This is the only one that has worked for me. Try it not satisfied they will give your money back.

And there is no demonstration of any of the exercises. Supposedly it only takes 7 minutes to work your whole body and you can do it standing up or sitting down, but you don't move. :carrot: This is the same person who sells "Body Flex", a plan that utilizes deep breathing with no impact movement for exercie.

Anyone????

Trouble321 05-20-2008 05:33 PM

I am actually in the process of trying to return my DVD's, I tried it for 2 weeks with no results. I was hopeful too. I have severe asthma and the medications that I sometimes have to take make me gain weight. Of course when I'm on them I'm having asthma problems (it's exercise induced) and can't work out so I end up gaining more weight. I'm too self conscious to go to a gym (and too poor to wast the money on a membership when I never know if I'll physically be able to work out). I had really hoped this would be something that would jump start the weight loss...I gained around 60lbs over the past two years and can't seem to get healthy enough to do any real sort of work out. Would anyone happen to have any suggestions?

:?:

nelie 05-20-2008 05:37 PM

Trouble, have you tried walking? It is one of the best exercises available. You don't have to walk far, just start, a little every day or every other day will help.

aquafina 06-09-2008 09:15 PM

For those of you who want to try this form of exercise but can't afford it or can't get it for whatever reason, there are plenty of isometric exercises on the web for free. I do isometric exercises every other day. The important thing you want to remember is breathe deeply when performing these types of exercises.

hmtklein 06-09-2008 09:55 PM

Hi Aquafina, What website do recommend? I love shapely secrets but urrrgh I 'm bored with it....

aquafina 06-10-2008 10:35 PM

Hi hmtklein,

Try this website:

w3DOTsport-fitness-advisor.com/isometric-exercises.html

Scroll all the way down until you see the heading, "Example of Upper & Lower Body Isometric Exercises."

These are the exercises I do:
- Isometric shoulder raises
- Isometric squats
- Isometric calf raises
- Isometric hip extensions
- Isometric hip abductions

I skip the isometric push ups and the isometric leg extensions only because they are too awkward for me.

I actually do a standing up isometric push up on a wall. I follow the same instructions for the push up on the webpage.

Don't forget to breathe deeply. I breathe in 3 slow inhales/exhales per set. I've actually timed my breaths, and one set (3 inhales/exhales) is actually a little more than 10 seconds.

When I first started doing the isometric squats, my heart would beat quickly, and I could only perform 2 squats. I'm up to 3 squats. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but they are difficult.

I have another set of exercises that I also do but I'm unable to find the webpage. I actually cut/paste the exercises and 'saved as' to a word document. I can e-mail them to you if you want. It's more about deep belly breathing but the website included exercises which I also incorporate into my routine. Let me know if you want me to e-mail them to you.

aquafina 06-10-2008 10:37 PM

I couldn't post the link per se, but you understand that w3 is www and insert a . for DOT.

nelie 06-11-2008 02:06 PM

FYI, please do not post email addresses here. Feel free to PM if you need to share an email address.

Also, you can google "isometric exercises" to see other options available.

wolfskies 07-27-2008 08:37 AM

You can now buy it at Walmart...

I have read several scam sites where they say that if you buy this on their website or phone, that they make you buy some vitamins even if you tell them no and keep charging your cc with it. You can search the infomercialscams website if you are worried about purchasing it by phone/web.

I do know that you can save on shipping and handling if you buy it at your local Walmart. This is where I got mine. It came with everything but her new pills. Normally, The As Seen on TV Isle is near the cash registers at the front of the store. At mine it's Isle 13, which is right near the cigarette isle.

I bought it awhile back, but I haven't had a chance to use it just yet since it disappeared when I was packing some things several months ago. However, I did plug in the general welcome DVD tonight and just doing a few of the exercise demonstrations my stomach muscles are definitely being felt. Problem is, I don't know if I can hold in my stomach for 30 seconds 4 times to do some of the stomach exercises. I have a lot of weight to loose and just doing it a couple of times in the welcome video made my stomach quiver for several minutes afterwards. I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. :?:

I will keep you updated on my progress. :)

nykkchick 09-18-2008 11:29 PM

ok i just bought this and after what i have been reading on other sites, im really glad i had to close my paypal account which i used my paypal mastercard on this order. be very careful ordering this. it looks like they try to bill your card nonstop for vitamins and dont like to give refunds.

i have read some good on the excersizes, 7 mins is really worth trying, but i have arthritis and sciaticca in my back and im pain alot so i hope this is going to be ok.

now i took one of the vitamins they sent and holy cow did i have energy. im wondering if you can find something like this locally.

Research Bunny 10-13-2008 09:39 PM

I too was intrigued by the infomercial. Fortunately I found your forum posts. Being a Research Bunny, I Googled isometrics and discovered a fantastic article, on Sparkpeople.com "Isometrics Build Strength Anytime, Anywhere". The article links to video demonstrations and printed instructions. Just click on a picture in the article, then 'Browse All Exercises'. Categories include Stretching, Core, Upper Body and Lower Body exercises.

Eliminate shipment nightmares and upsells others reported. Good Luck, Enjoy!
