I have a sleep study on tuesday. Everyone is pretty sure I have some sort of parasomnia (I roll my head side to side rythmically, kick, hit, throw things, talk in sleep). So the study is to help determine what one and how to best treat it. One of the sleep doctors I saw also thinks I might have narcolepsy. Another one thinks I might have apnea. I'm not at all convinced my chances of having either are that great. I do get hypnogenic hallucinations, but no cataplexy.
But I have noticed that the tossing and turning definitely makes for a sore neck on some days and/or back. I also have fibromyalgia and that doens't help the fibro- I already get muscle spasms from that.
I am on topamax now for sleep issues, but it doesn't seem to control the head rolling thing very well.
Anyone else with a parasomnia?
I'm not sure if I had this but before my sleep apnea was treated I was so sleep deprived that I would act out things in my sleep. A few times I woke up outside, or in the morning the front door would be open. I also would find things in strange places. Some mornings I would feel confused whether something really happened or if I dreamt it.
I was so sleep deprived after I got my cpap I slept 20 hrs straight. I couldn't remember having the feeling of waking up and feeling refreshed since my childhood.
Cpap also helped my morning mood a lot, I used to feel extremely aggravated in the morning and often had a sore throat that's all gone too.

I have fibro and am on a very low dose of topomax and klonopin (clonozepam), which is an anti-spasmodic. I know I don't do the thrashing that you do, but the klonopin does help me get some sleep.
