Getting discouraged

  • Hi,I'm new and still feeling my way around so if I make a booboo its unintentional.I have MD{muscular distrophy} so can't excersize much with this low carb diet I stated 2 weeks ago.At first the lbs melted off like butter;10 lbs per week but this week not one lb. Does anyone have an idea why ?
  • Hi Pam, I'm sorry I didn't see this when you posted it! The first week you are going to see a big drop in pounds. A lot of that first loss is water. You are burning off your glycogen stores, and that is primarily water. Unfortunately, if you go off low carb, you will probably gain a few pounds. It isn't actual fat, but water retained to store your excess glycogen now that you have extra carbs.

Your weight loss will be steady after the initial big drop. You might want to ask your doctor how far you can push yourself with activity. Anything that makes you sweat will help your weight loss along.
  • I understand what you mean when you say you got discouraged after the initial big loss
I started my diet on 9-1-04 and was THRILLED when I lost 5 lbs a week for 3 weeks straight! Boy was I disapointed when I got on the scale the next week and had GAINED 2 lbs!!!
But don't let it get you down. If you keep going, you WILL be successful. Chances of you eating right, and exercizing right for an entire year and seeing NO results? Ridiculous.

  • Don't let it get you down! Just keep up your clean eating I'm just curious can you do something like "sit and be fit" where you sit in a chair and flex and stretch etc?
