Hello all, how are you doing today? It was blustery and snowing here this morning, but has now cleared up and the snow has melted. Spring is sure and up and down season, and it makes me hurt.

Meme and Tootie - I sure hope you find us. Thought I should start a new thread as the other one is really slow to load because of the graphics. Meme, how are you enjoying your Mystery shopper job? You must still be going like a mad lady because we don't hear much from you - or perhaps you have fallen asleep and can't wake up. Is it spring in Tennessee now? I suppose you are like Phyllis and have temps in the 70's. I can only dream of that for the next couple of months.

Candice - How do you stay on the straight and narrow road when dieting? I don't know how you do it. I am back on track again, but I am still so tired I don't know if I am coming or going and I CRAVE sugar big time when I get like this. It is a constant battle with myself and I usually end up losing (lol). Haven't gained any back, but if this continues it won't be long I am sure.

Ally - Glad you had a Margarita for me. I sure did enjoy it. Hope you had a great lunch as well. I am in my sugar craving mode as I am exhausted - just rying to hold my own right now. How is the fiber thing going. I hope that it works for you. Diets get old real fast don't they?

Well guys, I am hurting like a son of a gun. Hate to complain, but gee whiz my shoulders and my right arm are killing me, as well as my legs. Went to the Chiro this morning and had my back adjusted, so now that feels a little bit better. Wish I could find a 'magic' pill that would just take away the pain for a few days. It seems that all the Drs. seem to think I want to spend my life in a daze. All the pain killers put you to sleep, and then they tell you when the pain dies down, try exercising - GO FIGURE!!!!

What happened to judy. Did we scare her away already?

Anne

tootie 03-19-2001 09:22 PM

lost it again but at least i'm on the track

Hi ladies, just checking in again because I lost another post.
I'll make it quick, Happy could you erase the old thread after everybody get's on this one because it gets in the way?
Went to the new ruhemi and guess what, firstly all the tests are pretty good. I still have a chance of losing weight and regaining some tone and health.
secondly, last time I spoke to her, I told her what I was on and she got the book and started sugar busters with her beloved and she lost 5 lbs. told her the newspaper just this sunday pooh poohed all over this and the zone, atkins and sugar busters. said the best diet should be loaded up with carbohydrates. The more the better, like beans, pasta, rice and whole grains.
Question who of you have been on neurontin?? she is suggestting that I should take it. It is epilepsi{?} medication but in small doses wards off nerve pain.
goota go, back and legs getting stiff.need to lie flat for a while.
does my doggie come out on this?

MemeToo 03-20-2001 12:30 AM

Anne, it's no problem to find the new thread IF I know it has moved. I bookmark the thread...not the board...then if a new thread gets started I wouldn't know unless I went to the board and I never do that!!! Sorry you are in so much pain. I'm getting another hole in my ankle and am having to stay off my feet for awhile. Sure hope it doesn't turn into another skin ulcer. I've had three and that is some of the worst pain I have ever had. Had one cut out back years ago and just last year I had to stay in bed with my legs up for nearly 3 months because of a hole about the size of a half a dollar and over 1/2 inch deep! OUCH!

tootie...I'm on Neurontin for migraines. What do you want to know about it? I take 300 mgs. every night before bed without fail and more if I'm having a series of migraines. I think Candice was going to start taking it for anxiety, too....not sure about that, though. It is used to control seizures, too. Have you tried 5 HTP?

Ally0306 03-20-2001 07:43 PM

Well, Meme..we will have to see if I got a graphic here...I am not real good at following directions this late in the day.

Happy...you must be a really good typer. I read one of your longer posts over on Clouds and that would ahve taken me all day.
I don't have total persepctive on pain anymore. Today was a good day, but only in comparison to my bad ones. I dont know what a painfree day is. Today the weather was a little warmer and muscles weren't so tight. But, I still don't have lots and lots of energy.

And what little I have I used in yelling at my teens who are going to drive me nuts. Almost 16 but somedays they act like they are 2. They had friends over without my permission, they watched and laughed as one launched glass bottles into the neighbors drive. I was the one who had a heated and angry neighbor at the door. I did a wonderful job. Yelled at them in front of her. I told them I want them to live with my beloved. I left the house with the dogs and went to McDonalds for a cathartic fish sandwich. Lots of fiber there, no doubt.

Meme...thanks for the guidance. Will try some more tomorrow. Tootie....I don't have a problem following the new thread...but am glad to hear someone else gets confused too.

What happened to Judy? Candice....are you still losing weight???

tootie 03-21-2001 12:34 AM

lost another gem

Okay, okay I lost another post again!!!!:nono:
I will have to figure out why a short ittie bittie one gets through and the profound thoughtful one's get lost.
Must be rabble babble rejection!

Candicej 03-21-2001 01:51 AM

I'm here!

Yes....I'm still losing....the key I think is finding a healthy way you can live with to eat! We will see..time will tell!

My elbow hurt so bad I couldn't stand it last night so I got out some old Vioxx and took one..it helped but the reason I don't keep taking it is that it upsets my tummy! If medicine didn't have so many side effects for me I think I would be on tons!LOL

I didn't eat enough yesterday! I was way under my WW points! Didn't think that would ever happen!:smug: When Dh is not here to eat I don't cook much! That helps alot! He will be gone 4 nights this week..nice to get a break from cooking and eating! I'm finding eating to be a chore....and if you believe that I have some swamp land to sell you! :s:

Nice and sunny today but I was in bed since I didn't sleep well! I really have my days and nights mixed up!LOL

MemeToo 03-21-2001 03:36 AM

Send me some of that sun please...we had SNOW today. Our pear trees are all abloom, too! Hope this cold snap doesn't set them back! Jenna (who just turned two Saturday) was jumping up and down in front of the French Doors yelling, "No, Meme, No...See Meme...See No!" We called her Mommy at work and left a message on her ans. mach....she said, "No Mommy...See No...I wike No!" It took my daughter a minute to figure out what was going on when she got the message. I didn't really think about it at the time but I guess it was a shock to push the message button and hear what sounds like a hysterical baby yelling "No, Mommy!" Oh well...I said I'm over half a century old, have 2 kinds of arthritis and fibro +migraines...what do you want??? I'll have my fun where ever I can find it!

Wish my hubby would go somewhere for a few days. I wouldn't want him gone permanently but I sure could use a break! He's still only working 4 days a week and killing me the other 3! It is nearly 2:30 here...he just poked his head in my room and said, "you still up"...I just looked at him and said "what are YOU doing up? I guess I'm old enough to stay up ALL NIGHT if I want!" He just shook his head and went back to bed. That's one reason we have different rooms! AND I LOVE IT!!!

I also wish I found eating a chore! I just find FIXING the food a chore...have no problem eating it!

Ally...where'd your graphic go? Go back to the other thread and follow the directions exactly and do it again. It works and I have confidence in you...YOU CAN DO THIS! (are you blonde???) :D

Hey tootie...next time you do a long post COPY it before you click submit and then you won't lose it. If it doesn't show up just hit reply...paste it in the box and try again. To copy (in case you don't know...which you probably do) Just click at the beginning of the message and hold your LEFT mouse button down as you highlight all the message. When it is all highlighted place your arrow is somewhere in the highlighted area and RIGHT click. A box will pop up...just click "COPY" and your message is saved. If you need to paste just click in the empty message box and RIGHT click again and click on "PASTE" and it will put the message back.

Gotta go to bed before it is time to get up! Sometimes I feel like that old donut commercial...I've already made the donuts...Like I'm meeting myself coming in as I am going out! Too much to do...not enough days in the week and definitely not enough sleep!

tootie 03-21-2001 06:25 AM

I will try anything once!!!!

Okay Meme will do!!
I have been doing a little research and its5 something in the AM again:nono: and i'm relly too tired now.
have a good day all!!!!

Happy Canuk 03-21-2001 04:26 PM

Hello fibro gals

Hope you are all doing well today.

Meme - hope the hole in your ankle is not to bad. That would be terribly painful. I liked it when my hubby worked only 4 days. Always had a long weekend and could go away or do something interesting. Now he is back to the 5 day workweek.

Canadice - Surely you jest. Getting tired of food? It will never happen. This diet that I am on is a great one. I feel fine, have lots of energy and occassionaly need a boot in the pants. I have tried ww and have gotten nowhere with it. I haven't tried the 123 but a time or two before that. My daughter is on the 123 and has lost almost 50 pounds. She also went 'off' her diet between Sept. and Jan., and then got back to it. She is looking great, and her insentive is to eat right so her daughter won't have the same problem. My daughter has thyroid problems. Started out as Grave's disease (when she was 20) and after the radioactive drink it went really low and she has been on synthroid ever since. She knows when it is low (really tired) and goes to Dr. for a change in meds. You are not lonely, are you! You are enjoying your space and your time alone. Good girl!!!

Ally - Oh yeah! I can type. I just hate it. I was a secretary for 6 years (that was a total fluke). Never was one before and I really despise typing. I also cannot spell anymore. I think that is one of the' use it or lose it' things. That article was good I thought, and a lot of people on that board could use it. Sometimes, however, the ones that you want to read it, don't . I try stay away from the General FM board because it can be a real downer. I am quite happy on the nonfm board.
I remember when my kids were teenagers. My son was so easy, but my daughter was a nightmare. Always was a strong willed girl. The funny thing was, that when she turned 18, she started phoning me at midnight to tell me she would be late! I told her she really didn't have to do that because she was now her own person, and totally responsible for herself. I wouldn't have minded a couple of phone calls when she was 16 (lol). She never, however, missed her curfew on the weekends of 1:00 a.m. ; Nor did my son. I always told them both, that their teen years could be as easy or as hard as they choose to make them. That seemed to work to a certain extent.

Phyllis - I hope that the copy and paste will work for you. It is so frusterating to type a long post and have it lost. With the way we feel, and think, most of the time, once is more than enough. Hope you are well. If you don't have fibro, what in the world do they think you have? Could it be polymyalgia instead? I think that is an inflammation of the joints etc. My girlfriends father has this, and it is very painful. The good news is that you take some kind of cortisone meds and they pain goes away. So hope for that instead of FM.

Judy - if you are reading the posts, come in an join us.

Meme - I can't seem to get any gifs on the screen. I go to browse, and click into my gif file and put a file into the space, and nothing come up. I don't know what I am doing wrong all of a sudden. Any ideas?

Anne

Ally0306 03-21-2001 07:55 PM

Well...I guess you don't see any graphics here do you...so you must think I am blonde.
Nope. But I did find a few new grays there this weekend when I was in a miserable mood. That helped.

I see Tootie has the graphic thing figured out, she just keeps losing her posts.

I think I might like being a grandparent better than a parent of teens. My kids are kind of immature which is nice when you think about what they could be getting into....but the things they do are just impulsive and stupid. If THEY got yelled at and I was left out of the whole thing I would be fine...but I hate getting the angry neighbor at the door.

But because I had a bad night, I had a terrible day today. Stress=pain. No doubt about it.

Neurontin. I have seen lots on Clouds talk about it. I really hope (knock on wood) that I don't have to go back on a prescription med. I hated all the side effects. Did anyone ever do Flexeril? I would get all weepy on that.

I still swear by this 5-HTP...how bout you Meme? I don't notice any help carb addiction, but that might be a lost cause.

I'll try the graphics tomorrow. Gotta go watch Survivor rerun.

tootie 03-22-2001 12:57 AM

Meme that doesn't work

gone again!!!It's too late, I'm going to bed.

Candicej 03-22-2001 04:15 AM

Hello

I'm trying MEME's explanation cause I don't do it that way!:)

tootie...next time you do a long post COPY it before
you click submit and then you won't lose it. If it doesn't
show up just hit reply...paste it in the box and try again.
To copy (in case you don't know...which you probably do)
Just click at the beginning of the message and hold your
LEFT mouse button down as you highlight all the message.
When it is all highlighted place your arrow is somewhere in
the highlighted area and RIGHT click. A box will pop
up...just click "COPY" and your message is saved. If you
need to paste just click in the empty message box and
RIGHT click again and click on "PASTE" and it will put the
message back.

It worked Toots!!!!!!!!:smug:

I highlight and hit ctrl c to copy and ctrl v to paste! They both work!

Now Meme can you answer my question about downloading IE from the web?????

My elbow still hurts and I hate takin gthe Vioxx I'm retaining fluid and my face is all puffy!:(

I think I am part Vampire since I have been sleeping in the daytime!

MemeToo 03-22-2001 10:27 AM

Candice...sorry...I don't remember what the question was!?! :?: Guess that's a sign I'm getting old. But if you are just wanting to download IE go here:

http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/...ie5/en/msn.asp

You can actually run BOTH browsers at the same time if you want to. I do it all the time...as a matter of fact, I have Netscape and IE both open right now. I'm kind of an impatient person so I'm usually doing 2 things at once. For example, you could open both browsers and come in here and read and type messages while you are waiting for a search result on the other browser. Say you are on the message board, like I am now, and someone wants a link to somewhere else. You know where to find it but you need to go there and copy it before you can give it to them. You open the other browser and go get your link and then come back to the window where the message board is...it has been there in the background the whole time and you don't have to reenter the site (that's what I just did to get the URL above to microsoft!) It's not really complicated...I sometimes have 4 or 5 browser windows open at the same time! It drives hubby nuts...says he doesn't know how I keep them all straight! To just open a new window in the same browser, you just click on "file" then "new" then "window" (in Netscape it says "Navigator Window") A new screen will come up while the one you had is still in the background. You can go back and forth from one to the other by clicking the icons in your tray area. I learned everything I know on the computer and Net by trial and error...no one showed me anything...you can too! Just takes some "trying"!

Gotta go...got a fussy baby today!

tootie 03-22-2001 01:28 PM

real quickly Candice

In regards to the Vioxx, make sure if you take it on a regular basis, to have more frequent blood tests. If I had had more frequent blood tests, last year, I would not have ended up in emergency room getting blood transfusions.
That episode set me back who knows where.
I have had 2 endoscopy's/colonoscopy because of bleeding from these anti-inflammatory meds.
Other drugs can do the silent bleeding also, no pain/ no signs.
Have to go and get exrays of hip and lower back.Hurts so much
see you guys later:wave:

Ally0306 03-22-2001 05:11 PM

A snow day here in NY. No school. I left work early. I should be playing with graphics, but it is a good time to clean doggy piddle off the rug.
How do you train a two year old cocker spaniel to stop this? When it snows she won't even step outside in this mess. I wouldn't want to either...but then I find stinky little puddles.
So tell me ladies....how did you get to know your computers so well?
I have a friend who is envious because my nice rich brother bought me and the kids this very nice Dell computer...and I don't do anything with it other than talk to you girls and visit a few other sites. Don't get me wrong I do a lot of browsing and self-educating but I have not taken the time to find out what this thing can do. How did you learn?
And.....
May I be the first here to wish Happy Anne a Happy Birthday. I read that over on the Clouds site.
Are you having a nice big piece of cake?????
Does this make you a Pisces too?
My sons knew I was Soooooo mad at them that they have cleaned out closets, toy boxes etc. Good use of a day off school in snowy, windy, wet, muddy NY state.

Candicej 03-22-2001 10:45 PM

Meme I know about the windows thing...Netscape that is....

I have 8 open now..but it slows my computer down! My son says he doesn't know if I can download IE to my secondary( the one that is empty) hard drive for the computer to work right! Do you know about that? I will go to the site and read about it! Keep the info coming! I didn't know you could click on file and get it though! I have been getting it from my start button! More work..you gave me a shortcut!

I fell off the big red ball today! Ouch! My right side is killing me! I hit the hard treadmill!

My son droped off his Ab Rocker by Jake today...he doesn't like it so I'm gonna give it a try! He doesn't have the instructions anymore so I have to rely on my memory from the commercial!

Toots..how long were you on the Vioxx and did it help! Thanks for the info!:)

Ally you have such a good since of Humor!

Anne is it your Birthday????? Did I miss that! You say your 70!!!!!!:smug: Hope you don't celebrate too much! But have a good time............:o I baked this for you! Looks yummy!!!!!!! HAPPY ..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:D

Meme...It ried it but when I got the 2nd page it kept saying not available..my son was on Yahoo chat working with me but he couldn't get it to work either..he said maybe try later..so I will!

tootie 03-23-2001 06:09 AM

yes it did work for months BUT:

Hi ladies: I can't sleep this night now turned into morning {4:56 am}
Candice it worked for months but for some reason that I don't remember the dr. changed it to Porxidam. The Vioxx had to have started the bleeding becuse it is very slow process.It can take months and that's why regular blood tests are needed.{it would show the slightest change and then you could take precautionary measures.}

boy am I tired: bye bye:wave:

MemeToo 03-23-2001 11:25 AM

Candice, I have both Netscape AND IE on my computer. If you have the extra space...and I don't think they take too much...they will run together on the same hard drive...just make SURE you put it in a place where you know where it is and put a shortcut to it on your desktop. The problem with downloading stuff from the Net is if you aren't careful it gets buried in your C drive and you can never find it again! I tried that site just now and got the same thing you did...try this one and see if it works.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm

Ally...sorry you are having such yucky weather. We are having beautiful weather here. Plenty of nice warm sunshine! About training the dog...I've had 4 dogs in the house and all four of them were potty trained by the time they were 3 months old. I guess it would be harder to train an older dog. You shoud have started earlier! What I do is take them out every hour and when they go give them a treat. That makes them WANT to go outside. All four of the dogs that I have had would "force" out a little pee because they thought they would get a treet! I don't believe in training by punishing for bad behavior. My dog (golden retriever) is only 9 mos. old but she KNOWS when I am mad at her without me having to hit her!!! She is probably the smartest dog I've ever had!!!

Tootie...have you tried 5 HTP??? It is really good and helps you get more restful sleep at night, too! Here is some info on it: I have this book but haven't had time to read it yet...
http://www.doctormurray.com/5htp/fybromylagia.htm
And here is where you can order it:
http://www.iherb.com/tryptophan.html

I've searched high and low and this is the best and the cheapest, too. I just got 4 bottles of it from them. I took one bottle and felt a lot better but I let myself run completely out so I went to the Health Food store here and bought a bottle (paid $26) and I began to feel worse again. I ordered 4 bottles from iherb and have been back on "Ulmer" brand for about 5 days and I already can tell a difference! I take 3-100mgs a day. The best and the cheapest is the second one in the RIGHT column...Ulmer 5HTP+B6+C VegiCaps. They are $18 a bottle but they are 100mgs. The ones I bought at the store were $26 for 60-50mgs so that is only half as much as I got from iherb for $8 less!!! I've also noticed when I take the ones I ordered from iherb I'm not as hungry!!! It is supposed to help fibro, sleep disorders and curb your appetite all at the same time...what more could you ask for??? (maybe it could clean my house!)

Speaking of which...I'd better get back to work...I have to get the upstairs done today and work on my basement tomorrow. It is getting tornado time here and all the kids and parents pile in my basement when they hit! Sometimes it is 1 a.m. and everyone is piled up in the basement!!! No where for people to sit (or stand for that matter) right now! I pulled everything out of the closets down there in December for Christmas decorations and never did get it all put back! I dread cleaning all that up sooooo bad!!! We have a garage, a utility room, bathroom, huge rec. room (wreck room now), a gigantic closet, a piano room where I teach and a waiting area for parents down there and I just hate cleaning all that! Hubby has promised to help me 1/2 a day tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Anne! Hope you are not too depressed...getting so much older and all! These are for you!

Happy Canuk 03-23-2001 06:13 PM

Hi Gals

Thank you all so much for the nice birthday greetings. Ally, you saw this on Clouds, didn't you. Well I guess I am a year older - doesn't feel like it, however. We were out last night and will be going out again tonight. My goodness, tomorrow I shall be dead and my daughter and her family are coming. Oh well, I will pretend I am Meme. I don't know how she does all she does. She is truly amazing.

Ally - as far as your kids being young. We let our son be young as well. He just really grew up within the last couple of years (25 now). He has had a wonderful childhood and young adulthood. I don't think he would have traded them. He is just such a happy, healthy young man. Will your dog be paper trained? If you aren't home, have her use the paper that you set out for her. It is a lot nicer than the rug. Meme may be right, it might be to late. She is no longer a puppy, and it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. We have so much snow here again. It just stopped snowing a while ago. I am sick of this winter and I want spring!!! Maybe if we both yell loud enough we will get through(lol)

Candice - Thanks for the cake. It looks yummy. It is the best kind to get, calorie free - right? Yes, that is right. I am 55 going on 70, at least some days(lol). I am almost as old as dirt now. Hope you can download IE.

Meme - Thanks for the balloons, they were great. Hope you are having a good day. Maybe we will get Candice on IE yet! I still don't know why I can't get the graphics to work on this site. Started out fine, but now they won't work.

Tootie - Hope you made out ok at the Drs. Let us know. Sorry you are in so much pain. Is your weather at least nice and warm - here is was 4 below and snowing at 6:30 a.m. UGH!!

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Candicej 03-24-2001 01:05 AM

I only have 25.4 MB left on my C drive!

My son says I have to load it on D but then it won't work with Netscape which is on C! But can I still use it for this site??????????:?:

Meme..I hate spring storms..we have so many here and I just can't sleep if there is a threat of bad weather..DH goes right to bed!:LOL Expects me to run upstairs and get him up to go to the basement! So you really think the 5-HTP works?????? The gals I have talked to here say it didn't do anything for them! Maybe it was the brand they used?

Anne..I don't think anyone can keep up with Meme! Glad you liked the cake!

My arm is getting worse...gonna have to go to the doc I guess..I did some reading on it and it sounds like tennis elbow...Hurts to pull and pick up things but not to push! Still puffy too! I think it needs wrapped.i have a thing for tennis elbow but ofr got how to put it on!:(

Anne... sending you some spring! Loved the picture of you..:p ( the one at the bottom of you post!)I knew you had a great big smile:D

MemeToo 03-24-2001 03:00 PM

That's not enough room...gee...what'cha got on your puter??? I don't think a browser will run from a disc...I think it has to be on your hard drive! I'll find out from hubby or s-i-l and let you know tomorrow. You probably need to get rid of some of the stuff on your computer that you don't use! (Or just get a bigger computer!) :D I had a smaller computer a couple of years ago but still had both browsers on it. I didn't RUN both of them at the same time but they were loaded in. I'll find out something about space, etc. and get back to you!

I pity the person who tries to keep up with me(me)!!!
The faster I go the behinder I get!!!!

Ally0306 03-24-2001 06:34 PM

Another yucky winter day here in NY. This has got to end soon.
Candice...I have an Ab MAchine, which is just a cheaper version of the Ab Rocker. I don't find it hard to use...not as hard as regular old sit ups so I do it everynite and it has taken a couple of months and some increases in time using it for me to notice anything...and then again that could be my FIBER. Who knows. It doesn't hurt to try.

HappyAnne.... So did what kind of cake did you have? My Bday was in March too and it was the first year with no cake. Last nite I went back to a Seafood buffet and completely stayed away from the dessert tables. I felt less stuffed and I seemed to digest everything else so much better. A friend I haven't seen in a while came along and I forgot what it is like to eat food with her. She ate a tidbit of salad, a baked potato and a few crab legs, then pushed away from the table and declared herself full. And she kept saying "Oh, I wish I could eat like YOU so I could get my money's worth out of this". Everyone else at the table would keep saying..."Are you done...is that all you're going to eat?" and she would groan and say that she just can't consume all this food at once. I wanted to scream... She is not emaciated just petite. I KNOW she eats. She made me feel like a glutton. Don't you hate people like that?
That's for you Tootie....you think I have a hard time enjoying a good meal. Well...I do when someone is making editorial comments about the amount I can consume at one sitting.
Meme....I think I will try the treat thing. My old cocker is such a trooper. NEver ever goes inside. But the Princess......she is spoiled. And my kids trained her. They put newspapers on the floor of my computer room. And she still goes in here. PU.
When I am home, she doesn't go inside because I am constantly letting her out.
Again....can't wait for summer.
I have 100mgs of 5-HTP from iherb.com too. Jarrow brand. I went to my vitamin store today to see if they have any of their sale 5-HTP...no, but I got digestive enzymes. Fiber and enzymes. Watch out.

This computer is over 8 years old! Need a new one!

My son installed a second hard drive when he had it and that would be where I put IE if that would work or does it have to be on your main hard drive? When my son set it up and he didn't have the proper stuff to download what he needed to on the larger hard drive so I have no extra space....my home email takes up most of it! He deleted all the programs he could..and when we install anything else it is to d drive that is almost empty and very large! Let me know if I can download IE to the D drive!

Ally....When was your BD..Happy Belated one!

Here is a picture of our last snowfall...so peacefull..and the birdhouse my oldest son made in kindergarten and he is 23 now!

Hi Anne and toots!:)

MemeToo 03-26-2001 11:41 AM

Hubby said you could run IE off your D drive since it is a second hard drive. It will run off a hard drive but not a disc! So go for it. Did you check out the other URL I posted above for IE download.

I love snow but I sure am ready for spring and summer. But in another way I dread it because I have so much I need to do and I like to get all the inside stuff done before pretty weather so I can get outside. I have all my windows to do plus all the glass stuff inside. Over all my cabinets in my kitchen is open and I have all kinds of glass stuff up there like decorative bowls and hand painted picthers and some things that belonged to my grandmother and hubbys ancesters. All that has to be taken down and washed. Plus I have these glass globes on my dining room lights...6 on the ceiling light and 3 on the wall...that have to be taken down and washed, then I have a corner cabinet that has a bunch of blue carnival glass in it that has to be washed. All that plus 8 windows and a huge picture window. And that's just the upstairs! I didn't get to work on the downstairs last weekend like I meant to...didn't feel like it...so I still have all that to do, too. And I don't even want to think about the closets...GROAN! Maybe I WOULD like for it to snow some more...put spring off a little while!!!

I'm not doing any good at losing weight. I'm stuck at 170...can't seem to budge! I've been here for 3 weeks now. I'm trying WW old version of the "SuperStart" program they had back some years ago...it's for the first week or two on the old program to get the weight started down fast. It worked well before so hopefully it will get me off this plateau and then I'll go back to just eating when hungry!

I actually went to bed at 11 last night and thought sure I was going to get nearly 8 hours sleep...then a stupid woodpecker woke me up before 6 pecking away on the house. I went and got hubby up and told him to get out there and shoot the thing. He loaded his gun and went out but it flew away before he could shoot it. Then about 15 minutes later, after we'd gotten back in bed, it came back and started pecking again. He never did kill it so it will probably be back again tomorrow morning.

Hi everyone

Well spring must be in the air. It is housecleaning time. I know what you mean about the cabinets being open above. I have nothing up there, but this morning I climbed on a stool and washed them. Boy I am embarrassed and I am the only one here. What a mess. Amazing how that grimy stuff gets up there, and it is so sticky. Anyway, now they are spotless and I am putting up papertowels. Used to always do that, but when we moved in here there was no way I could get up there. Could hardly do it today. My right leg just doesn't want to cooperate at all. Also, that fm in my shoulder and arm is really starting to do a number. I just thought it wouldn't hurt anymore, or less if I did it. I think I am going to be sorry I ever attempted this. Also got the curtains washed in the kitchen and dining area. If I can get hubby motivated, I will have him take the ones down in the living room tonight and I will wash them and he can put them right back up.

Meme, I seem to be stuck as well. Increased some carbs on the weekend, but that didn't apparently work. Well, I guess if you just keep doing whatever it was that you did, it will go away.

I am still walking. Can now go about 45 - 50 min. at tops. About 20-25 min is areobic and the rest is a fair pace. Some days are better than others, and sometimes I have to stop after 20 min, because of leg pain and back pain. Knees have been feeling pretty good.

Belated happy birthday Alley. When was your birthday. I am an Aries - you must be a Pices. That is what my Mom was. Here birthday was on the 19 March.

Phyllis - I hope that you can post. I don't think anyone can delete an old thread, can they? Phillis asked about that in an earlier post. Are you feeling any better. You also didn't tell us the rest of the story re: car/rain etc. Only I know and it is funny.

Well I don't know what happen to the other person that posted. I guess they get fed up with us. Maybe they think we are too small? or something. Oh well, I would hope that they know they would be welcome.

Have a great day

Hi Guys.....
I am supposed to go to the Doc this Fri. Don't want any pain pills, just want my blood levels drawn.

If I am eating healthy, want to make sure it shows up in my blood tests. BUT, I don't think I am losing weight. Don't feel like I am gaining....but I know I am not losing.
Feel bad for you on a plateau...I hate it when you can't get the scale to move.

Another snowy day here in NY. My aching is really bad today. It is 20 degrees. Almost had another day off of school, instead school was delayed an hour.
I HATE this!!!

Oh cleaning.....I am trying to get things cleaned up so I can sell my house. Hope I am as smart as the last people who covered up all the defects. The house was unbelievably clean. That is what sold me. And that lasted all of a day.

MemeToo 03-26-2001 10:03 PM

Got half my basement cleaned today...can't believe it...

The person who starts the thread can delete it. Scroll to the bottom of the page and on the right are a list of commands...one of them is delete. The person who started the thread can click on that and then delete it!

Hope I can sleep tonight...I'm so tired and sleepy...and I hope that stupid woodpecker doesn't wake me up before 6 again in the morning!!!

Just rested for two days!

Hoping that will heel my elbow..arm.....It was better when I got up so did laundry, cleaned the bathroom and washed my hair and now it hurts again! I think the vioxx is working a little but I really need to beable to use my arm! I think we all need new body parts..or how about just new bodys well I could use a brain too!

I know what you mean about cleaning before it gets warm enough to work outside I have the same problem! My china cabinet is stuffed full and needs cleaning but it is not that important so it will have to wait! I need to scrub the kitchen floor first!

Yes Meme I went to the URL and tried downloading it but it kept saying loading to D program excell and my son told me to wait for him to do it Thursday! It was not giving me a choice of where to put it! He said when he clicked on it it gave him a choice. I don't want to mess anything up so I will wait! Thanks for the info on the D drive......we will give it a try!

Anne where did you fine the flowers and your name??????? Love it!:D

Hi Ally and Toots:wave:

Candice and the elbow

Hello ladies:
I was about to start a post in the middle of the night and even tho I was tossing and turning I was really tired. One of those brutal nights.
Anyway, Candice, your elbow and arm pain is exactly what happens to me. There are certain ways that I can function and others I couldn't. I'm sure the Doc. are calling it "tendenitis" or tennis elbow, but the severity makes it something else.
Since, this kind of pain happend to other parts of my body, like the shoulder, wrist, ankle, knee or fingers, I found that as soon as the pain was starting {and I could tell just when it was going to start}I would put an elastic ace bandage on that area, like a sports brace.Sometimes for the elbow and arm, I would use a sling.
But get this, this new rheumi is saying it's not osteo-arthritis as Dr. last treated me for it, but is looking into Uric acid as the cuprit since xrays do not reveal any arthritis {yet}.
But also, since I have been on SB I have had only the knee and hip pain and that could have been made worse by the loverly flop I took when I broke my wrist.
Still waiting for the xray reports!
The Vioxx made some of those pains tolerable but if it is crystals in the joints, this new Doc is going to give me a medication that reduces the crystals. The only way to find the crytals is by taking some of the fluid out of the inflamed joint and put under a microscope.
Maybe I'm being redundant, because I don't know what babble of mine got through.
You ladies on this post are the only people that have experienced the same kinds of pain , which makes me think the doc is on a wild goose chase, and it's another form of fibro. But I'll try anything once.
My heart goes out to you Candice, becasue that stuff is sooooo baaaaaaad!!:nono:
Happy I know I wished you a happy birthday babble, you guys have such wonderful pictures. and annimated ones to boot!.
Ally, sorry you got snow again. This week was really nice, it's in the 70's and at night 40's. But today is a beaut of a storm. My son has to fly in this god awfull weather this morning to go to New Orleans to see them open sealed bids on oil prospects. He has three prospects and unless the people he has offerred them to gets the lease, he makes nada money for his research.
Things are getting really tuff because of the increase in price per barrel.
I pray for his success, but I also pray that our pains will go away and see how God answers that post?
Ally, wish you luck on your sale of your house.
Happy is selling also. It's too bad the stock market took a turn for the bottom, because I know that prevents some people from making offers.
Rain Rain go away, my hip is hurting and I want to play!!or at the least walk with out a stick. {will not use the word ----}

Ally0306 03-27-2001 07:38 PM

Hey ladies...see how far I have gotten on those graphics?

HappyAnne...I liked that post on Clouds about what you fear most. I think like a lot of those people I fear that this is not Fibro or CFS, but some malignant disease that I should have had taken care of years ago but the Docs missed it.

ANd I hear Tootie talking about is it arthritis or is it acid, and I think....this is torture.

But I have to look at the good side. If I didn't get "this" I would still be running in a zillion different directions at the same time, eating poorly, smoking, drinking, having sex (oh God, I DO miss that)...and I would probably kick the bucket early just like my Mom did.

So...I should be glad I have time to smell the flowers...but THERE AREN'T ANY here in snowy NY.

I also saw a thing on the increase in Lung cancer in women. Thank God I quit smoking.

Any of you ever smoke? But, it probably did add a few pounds to the old fanny when I quit.

Candicej 03-28-2001 04:23 AM

I'm going to the doc!

But I don't want to because they make me feel stupid!

The one I could get into is a real ego tripper!

Toots.....Thanks for all the info...hope they can help you..your doc sounds like he cares! I don't think mine does!

Meme.......hope you got some sleep! Thanks for the clip art!

Ally.....here are some flowers from Meme's site!

Anne...Hello!

MemeToo 03-28-2001 05:19 AM

Boy I'm tired...but can't sleep. It is after 4 here and I have only 2 hrs. and 50 min. until I have to get up...baby Jenna will be here wound up and ready to go! I've been talking to Candice via ICQ. I enjoyed our chat Candice! We'll have to do it again sometime soon!!! I'll try to leave ICQ on from now on! I usually forget to turn it on, though! Glad you liked the flowers. I think the animated dogs is probably my favorite.

Hope everyone else is feeling some better and not hurting as bad as I am right now!

Maybe I'll try counting sheep!

tootie 03-28-2001 11:09 AM

hydrocordone/vicadin

Yesterday I couldn't stand the pain in the legs and hip so for the rirst time I took half dose of that stuff every so often and it didn't take the pain away but I slept on and off for most of the day. and I couldn't believe that I would sleep most of the night which felt good.
Got up off the couch to make a quick lentil soup and I was surprised, it tasted so good that's all I had for dinner.I know I ate much less all day but I guess it makes up for not moving around.
You guys get funnier by the day!
and I know I can't keep up with the graphics. I just love the annimated ones, but is that a dog jumping over the fence or sheep?
Mentioning sheep, how about that latest development the US of A is taking with the imported vermont sheep? I guess they import little babies and maybe raise them for wool? because I never heard of sheep roast! Lamb yes, but when they get to be sheep aren't they too tough to eat? Is that when they call them mutton? when they go bald and can't produce anymore wool? My brain is getting slow.
Because I figure that no body was going to eat sheep that they raise for wool. So, how come the government knows they have this hoof and mouth thing if they are not dying by the sweater-full?
Just last week I read "there is no mad cow disease in the North America's!" now they are killing off 2 heards of sheep for a related disease?

Ladies stock up on dried beans, because there will be disaster in the food chain, if we all get scared of a disease that can't be killed by cooking/heat!!

We humans need protein to survive, so beans, rice and Whole Wheat stuff will be the mainstay of the American diet.
I read once where it said, women living in poverty were all heavy because they couldn't afford the protein {meats} in their diets. They further stated that you never saw women of "means" heavy. What bunk!!

Just when we think things are going pretty good in the scheme of things and now this!

By the way Alley what is......this thing..... that you like but have missing??? I was married forever before I got divorced and my beloved was always handicapped, so I guess it only hurts or is missed when you are young.

Things are just not fair!!It should come in a bottle or prescribed. Maybe that's why chocolat is sooooo gooooood, it makes the brain think the body got something it didn't!!
Remember only bad girls go and go and get what they need.Look at me I've been a "good" girl all my life and see the reward?? Nothing but aches and pains.
Let's see if this goes thru!

Ally0306 03-28-2001 09:27 PM

Well, Tootie, you are absolutely right. This stuff attacks the good girls, doesn't it?

Now, I am a bit younger and when I was in college in the 70s, sex was out of the closet big time, but I should have documented in a journal every experience I had cause I didn't know I would hit a long dry spell.

Yes, I miss it and even know that in reality I am not gross or disgusting and could go out seeking just that one thing....but I don't wanna. Sometimes I wake up all achy and miserable on a weekend and miss that I don't have someone to make me breakfast or give me a back rub...but I don't miss having to "perform" when not in the mood..or cleaning up after breakfast....or the best...losing ownership of my TV tuner.

Again, gotta take stock of the good stuff.

And today...not much of that. The temp is just starting to rise over freezing, but it has sent me into achyville. I am going ot go take a hot bath with relaxation beads. This is how I feel when I can really injure a muscle cause I want to get out and walk Soooo bad.

Candicej 03-29-2001 04:55 AM

Saw the doc and it is tendonitis ( tennis elbow).....

The doc was ok untill I couldn't make up my mind
about getting a cortisone injection...and he
said..."I have a waiting area full of sick people I
have to see so make up your mind!" Hey...I was paying
him too! (I think he was a little stressed about
being the only doc there!) I'm gonna give it one more
week and see if it gets any better then I'll get the
shot.....I have bad reactions so don't like getting
them and I will not beable to use my arm at all for
about three days! No computer unless I use one hand!
I can't take anti-infammatory meds and he
said to stop the Vioxx cause if it was gonna work it
would have by now and he didn't like me retaining the
fluid either. We agreed on everything this time
except the shot!

Then when I was leaving he made the comment that my
purse was like a suitcase...:rolleyes:NOT..but it is heavy
...and that was causing all my Fibro problems! I
don't carry it around much, always use a cart or
change to a smaller one when shopping! If it still
hurts in a week I'll be getting that shot I guess!

Hang on gals....men aren't that great ask MEME!

Meme..hope you got some rest! Thanks again for helping me with the puter stuff!:)

Where's anne????????:?:

tootie 03-29-2001 06:19 AM

Anybody coulda said it was tendenitis!!

Candice your a better "man" than I am. When I get those stiff hurting joints I beg for the shot! Sometimes the cortisone lasts for a long while.
See, now because it hurts you and I the same way the only thing he can do is give you a shot, BUT if you ask him why and how come it started, see if you can get an answer.
I didn't like how he was chiding/edging you on, like you were taking up two office visits! I wish those doctors could get just half the pain in the wassu and see how they would act!
