Diabetics Gone Veggie

Are there any other diabetics here that have gone veggie? I'm following a veggie food plan and really pleased so far. Some of my favorite books books/author docs are Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Esslestyn, Dr. NeAl Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes, and the China Study.
I've had great results with weight and A1c.

Hi Sea! I'm glad to hear you are doing a plant based diet for diabetes. I was diagnosed in 2008. I have recently been reading a lot about plant based eating for diabetes and also watching some videos. I have watched the iThrive Series twice and Drs Esslestyn and Barnard were two of the doctors who participated along with several others, talking about the benefits of the plan. I have greatly increased my veggie consumption, but am still hanging on to my animal protein, but in lesser amounts. I can't say I will never go completely plant based. I am just a die hard meat and egg eater, but the more I hear about the benefits of plant based eating, the more I steer toward it and away from animals.

Good luck to you with this!

Many people start as you have, by upping their veggie nutrition intake. So far since 30 November I have dropped 40 lbs. My labs are looking very good, causing my dr to reduce my metformin.(Yeah!)
Barnard is one of my favorites. I have a good friend whose heart health was really turned around in 3 weeks following Esslestyn. The Quick and Easy China Study Cookbook is my favorite veggie cookbook.
Hope you have great success in your journey.
