Ileostomy...anyone else?

Does anyone else here have an ileostomy and struggle losing weight?

In 2008 I was determined to change my life. I lost 120 pounds and felt better than I had felt in my entire life. Then in 2012 I got sick and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. It took over my colon fast and was debilitating despite trying all meds possible. In 12/12 I was rushed to the hospital with what turned out to be a perforated colon. It was trying to kill me. I ended having my entire colon and rectum removed and have a permanent ileostomy.

During the course of getting sick, taking meds and recovering I have gained all the weight back. Now I am determined to lose it again. It's more difficult now, but I want to feel better!

Looking for anyone who might be dealing with a similar situation.

Hi Barb,
Read your post and had to respond. I have a colostomy also due to Crohn's, but prior to that I was pretty sick, so I welcomed my new attachment. Two years later it came back and now on Infusions.
Weight has been an issue for awhile. I can eat pretty much anything I want as my small intestine is not affected. But I find that I am an emotional eater .
Do you have issues with dehydration, or with certain foods? that may be getting in the way of success? How long have you had this?
Pam
