Fibromyalgia #95
Good morning-what gorgeous weather we are having!Gotta finish up and drive to Northampton tonight. I get so stressed getting ready. Have a wonderful time Joanne -I can imagine how excited you are. Inspire us with pics of your garden Candice. Gotta get motivated to walk and diet again-it's such a struggle. Bye for now-Mima I feel bad for you Anne. The same thing happened to me-I only lived in my condo for a bit over a year and then I got married but it was much easier-the tough part was combining 2 houses-Mima

It will be another week of rain here in NY. I may have to go backon Paxil...this is depressing.
Go Ruben....gotta go watch American Idol. |
Hi
What a great finish to American Idol 1300 and a few odd votes difference. What a send off to too fine singers. They will both go places.
It is FINALLY nice and sunny and warm here and it looks like it's staying for a while. Up in the 70's. I am FINALLY less achey, although, I did a Candice last night and stayed up until 5:00 a.m. Hubby is on holidays and he looked so comfy having an afternoon nap, that I joined him - BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART ! That resulted in the insomnia of last night. I hope everyone is doing well. |
I went to the Rheumatologist Monday...I'm off the gold for good but he didn't replace it with anything. Said he wanted to wait until it all got out of my body which will take 3 or 4 months.
Tues. I went to my reg. Dr. with my flu symptoms and told him about nearly blacking out several times and about being so bone tired all the time. He ran a bunch of blood tests. They called this morning and said I was severly anemic. (tell me something I didn't already know!) I have to go back in 2 wks. and have them all run again. Trouble is, they didn't tell me anything to do to build it back up in the meantime. They never do 'cause they don't know what to do! (short of a transfusion!) Would be nice if I could just take a vitamin with iron like normal people do. Meanwhile...back on the farm...I've been doing some research of my own! I've found out what is causing a lot of my problems. Side effects from the Nortriptyline. That stuff is bad news. I'm taking myself off it slowly. And I will never ever take any of the triptyline drugs again. I said that about amytriptyline back 100 years ago when I was taking Elavil but when this new Neurologist wanted me to try it I said ok. NEVER AGAIN.... It has given me a really bad cough, ringing in my ears that's driving me nuts (more like a high pierced 'ET phone home' sound) made me feel like I have a bladder infection half the time, and it can cause chills, fever and muscle aches so I'd say that's where my flu symptoms came from. It was prescribed for better, deeper sleep but it has caused me to have nightmares unreal and to make at least 2 or 3 trips to the bathroom at night that I wasn't making before I started taking it. I'm tired of new medicine and I'm tired of Drs. screwing around with my life. I'm just tired...PERIOD! Thank goodness the rain is gone for a few days!!! My temp is down, bad body aches and chills are gone. No headaches. Going to get off the weird medicine so maybe all this other weird stuff will go away. Hubby said we need to go back on Atkins for a couple of weeks and get my blood count back up. I lost another pound...down 12. GOD IS GOOD! |
Hi
Meme - Gosh, I hope you feel better soon. Been awhile. To build up your iron, try eating lots of beef, broccoli etc. I stopped taking Amitriptilyne in the fall and don't notice the difference in my sleep pattern or pain levels. My hubby's Mom used to get Iron shots. Also, the Dr. in Denmark, advised that she drink STOUt, but she couldn't handle drinking it. So there you go!
Another nice day coming on here, although at the moment looks a little to the cloudy side. Everyone have a great day. |
My yard smells like heaven With all the iris blooming (lots this year) everything smells so good. The purple irsis, pink soapwort and white star of bethleham look so pretty.
Got all my impatients in today (coral) and some of my dark leaf begonias with the licorice plant in one of my barrels. Happy..is napping all you did with Hubby;) Meme...That is eactly why I quit going to dr.s..they just push pills because they do not know what else to do and I was ahving too many side effects from all that stuff. I used to take iron shots....can you take those? Ally..Did paxil work before? It made me terribly anxious so I could not stay on it. Everything makes me anxious! Mima...walking is so good for you and it should be fun too! This is not a diet..but a way of life! (not a very fun way but it works!);) Hi Serenity, Joanne, annagram and gail:wave: |
Hey Meme-my aunt has pernicious anemia and has to get b12 shots every 3 weeks and takes iron pills. when she first got it she could hardly get out of bed, when i was anemic, they prescribed iron. Probably something yoy were taking takes the iron out of your system . Anyhow-hope you get cured fast!!!Candice-send pictures. Now that our siding is done, we have to landscape, plant grass, make a garden etc. I only started last year and now I have to move some of my tulips. I was working on a nice perennial garden when I sold my house and the new owner put his boat right in front of it. Guess I'll have to start again. Can't wait to finish work so I can start working a bit on it. Maybe siding will be done by then-it keeps raining and he can't show up. I had a fun 3 days-went to the mall last night. I work with such great people. 4 days next week and then 2-not bad. Someone else pd us money that he owed. Things are getting better. Looks like its going to be a lousy weekend-least til Sun-we don't have too many plans-just 2 cemeteries on Sun. Gotta get someone to wallpaper soon. Bye for now-Mima

Hi Ladies,
Isn't spring just the greatest time of the year? I love reading about everyone doing their planting, mulching and all that other fun stuff.....lol :D I'm finally done with the majority of my yardwork. Boy, am I paying for it too.....lower back is killing me and muscle pain all over. Doesn't help that it also got cool and damp here. It was worth it though, it's so pretty to look at! I don't blame you Meme for wanting to get off all the meds. I've always been scared to try a lot of that stuff. When the pain gets too much to handle, I find using a nice aromatherapy bath salt in the tub with water as warm as I can stand to really help. My massage therapist also gave me a balm to use called Sombra that helps too.....has some capsaicin in it for the pain....very soothing. Hi to you too Candice  I hope all of you have a restful holiday weekend! Don't work too hard.....try to talk the guys or the kids into cooking  Talk again soon, Gail |
Hi there-Happy Memorial Day-did everyone but me go away? I couldn't find cemetery baskets yesterday and we are going to 2 cemeteries today!!!Hope I find something after church. I think it's going to clear up a bit today-It has been pouring. How did you like the outcome of American Idol-I was disappointed but I don't think it will matter in the long run. Hope you enjoyed your visit with your grandson Joanne. Have you found a place to live Anne. Bye for now Mima

Had a scare out in the yard yesterday...my right leg (which happens to be my good leg) would not let me put weight on it, I thought I would never get back to the house! Then I did some stretches and it was ok. Then it happend when I got up out of my recliner inside too! Today it has been ok. My hips are getting really bad and my yard work harder to do each year!
NUTRITION NEWS FOCUS "Nutrition news is important. We help you understand it!" Today's Topic: Nuts to High Cholesterol Yet another study of feeding nuts has shown a reduction in serum cholesterol levels. This time, walnuts, which are rich in polyunsaturated fats, replaced about 35 percent of the calories obtained from monounsaturated fat in a Mediterranean diet. About 50 middle-aged people in Spain with elevated cholesterol levels completed the trial. Reductions in total and LDL cholesterol averaged about 4 to 6 percent. It is not clear what the active ingredient in the nuts is that lowers cholesterol. While speculation has focused on the fat content, it could be vegetable protein, soluble fiber, or trace minerals. The bottom line is that nuts can be a healthy addition to almost any diet. This study appeared in the April 4, 2000 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine. < http://www.annals.org/issues/v132n7...4040-00005.html > HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Previous studies with almonds and peanuts (which are not nuts but legumes) showed reductions in risk factors for heart disease. It is important to remember that nuts are high in fat and calories. Simply adding them to the diet means a certain weight gain _ they have to replace something else. |
For Mima:) Purple iris and pink soapwart in bed next to the house.

:) Star of Bethlehem...this is a smal bulb and I have them all over, so pretty!

Lovely flowers, Candice.
Happy Memorial Day, All! No real plans here. DS/DDIL were here Sat but decided not to stay over as she wasn't feeling well. Drove to outlet mall halfway between here and DD and played with princesses while Mommy/Daddy shopped yesterday. Anne I hope the search for housing is going well. Joanne, didn't get to see you. Hope the rain wasn't a big damper. It seems to be a damper on so much this year. We have a few rays of sun at the moment so I'm going to go out and prowl around before I do any work (and I'm not going to do much of that). Have a good one, Ally, Serenity, Meme and all others mentioned and not. |
Hey
Well I am back for about a week. Then I am going to my Daughters again. I have spent so much time in the car ,I think I am still rolling down the road.
I have company this week. My brother is down from Az. with his wife. I know we will have a great time. The arrival of the Truman was wonderful. In spite of the rain. It rained the whole time we were there. It was worth every minute. I would do it again and again. I was lucky and found a seat on a bleacher so I didn't have to stand. I was wearing plenty of layers so I was not too chilled. You know Fl. people pack for warm weather. I had to buy a light jacket. Buy for now...Joanne |
Joanne...I bet that arrival was wonderful. The end of Good morning America this morning listed off all the people who died in this Iraq conflict. I just sat there and cried.
Have not been able to get on the site for a while. Every time I got here many ads popped up and my computer got locked up. Maddening. Candice...beautiful flowers. And Paxil? No, it did not make me anxious. I do think I need Serotonin. But not the side-effects from an SSRI. I still take 5-htp. I gained 30 lbs on Paxil. Hello Happy, Anagram, Meme, Mima and Gail and anyone else I missed. |
Hello to everyone...hope all had a good Memorial Day and long weekend. I didn't do much...too tired still. The strength isn't coming back very fast this time!!! Mima...I give myself B12 shots every 3 weeks but I can't take the iron tablets. The Dr. told me to cook as much of my food as I could in iron pots and pans because the iron gets into the food that way. He said that was a little known fact. I do that and I bought some liquid Geritol with iron and I'm taking just a little bit after each meal throughout the day...that way it doesn't tear my stomach up too much. We had chicken liver tonight. If I don't get some strength back soon somebody is going to have to come in and clean my house!!! Hubby did the floors today but he's back to work tomorrow and his parents depend on him a lot plus he has all the outside stuff...he can't do everything!
Joanne...glad you had a good trip! Candice - the flowers are beautiful ...and that is so weird...what happened to your leg...almost the same thing happened to my right leg Saturday. I got up at 4 a.m. to go to the bathroom. On the way back to bed there was an awful pain that shot through the bone just below my knee. I made it back to bed and went back to sleep. At six I woke up and my hip was killing me. I turned over to my left side and dozed off and on 'till about 7:00 and then got up... my whole right side from the hip down hurt but when I put my foot down on the floor I could put my whole weight on it so I thought... OK... guess it's going to be alright. Then, I tried to lift it up and couldn't. I was literally rooted to the floor. Everytime I tried to pick up my foot the pain shot all the way up to my hip like fire. I finally got back in the bed and just laid there until my husband got up. I sent him downstairs for my crutches. I hobbled around a little (not much...hurt too much to move) and did a lot of stretches. By noon it was a lot better. By 4 I was almost as good as new! Weird!!! Hello to everyone else. I envy you all getting out and walking and working in your flowers. Maybe I'll snap out of this (probably be to hot to do anything by the time I can get outside!) :p |
Meme...I am sorry to hear that you are so down and out. This has been a tough year weather wise, wonder if that has anything to do with it. I do so much better when it is sunny and there is not a lot of moisture in the air. All it has done here is rain. Can't even mow my back yard.
Does anyone else notice a difference walking on cement (sidewalk) as opposed to grass or treadmill? Wow, do my hips hurt after walking the dogs today. Normally I am out on a trail...that must be better for me. |
Hi
Candice - beautiful pictures. I am sure you must be hurting pretty bad - but sometimes we just have to do what we have to do!
Meme - Wish they could find something that would help you. This is just slowing you down way to much - heavens, you might even have to take time to relax:lol: Seriously, I wish you could get to feeling better. Ally - Walking on grass or dirt is easier on the body than slamming your feet down on cement. Joanne - You are becoming quite the traveller! Glad you enjoyed your trip. Anagram - Hope you are enjoying the spring and I do hope that your hubby is doing ok. Raven - Hello. Hope you didn't overdo it in your garden. Mima - How is work going? Your renovations must be just about done, I hope. Well, I believe we are moving to whole different city. I think we will move to Edmonton, where my son and daughter live. Actually, most of my family lives there. I was born and raised there and have some very good friends there as well. It has been 30 years since I lived there, and I am as excited as a little kid, thinking about moving back. The city has such an energy - I love it. My little city of Red Deer is only 72,000 people, so not very large - like a little subdivision of Edmonton. We will decide this weekend just what way to go. Perhaps I will just move within Red Deer - just not certain at this point. My goodness we still have a month to decide and pack up  I hope you all are having a great day. |
Ally I know what shoes I wear makes a difference...I need support and cushion no matter what surface I walk on. Concrete is a killer though:(
Happy..you little kid you! Meme...I'm always having weird pain sensations but usually it does not affect my walking. Did your ankle ever get better? At least your DH helps! Ordered some 1 pt bagels online....and ate too many choc. chip brownies made for dh and ds:eek: |
Candice, my ankle has been better but only because I'm having to stay put. If I do any walking around - like when I went to Wal Mart last Friday - it lets me know in a hurry it's still there! I talked to the Rheumatologist about it last week when I went. He gave me the names of a couple of Drs. in Nashville for second opinions. He said he'd think twice about having surgery that would make his ankle numb for life, too. I just don't know what to do! Seems I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. I need to see one of those Drs. and I also need to see a heart Dr. I'm just a mess right now!!!
I can't take that liquid Geritol...I've had nothing but heartburn and indigestion for the last 4 days. |
Hey There
Just a short hello- My brother is visiting so I can't be here too long. I really enjoy him being here. I will go to Tops tomorrow .I am not sure I want to weigh in though. I will decide after I get on the scale in the AM. Going back to my daughters next week to spend a little time with my G/son before he has to go back to the ship..
Bye for now....Joanne |
I'm back til tomorrow night and then I just have 2 more days. Stomache-IBS-gets so bad when I;m gone and instantly fine when I get home. Glad I have appt with dr, in June. And I'm not the only one-one lady has IBS disease and can only eat soup etc-everything bland. We went out to eat last night-I had salmon-yum-yum-Mme-that anemia can relly do you in. Auntie has trouble with iron too. I used to take a small pill called ferrous sulfat. I have hears about the iron pot cooking. Anne-you habe such a positive attitude about moving-sounds great to go where your daughter is-Joanne-glad you had a great time -what a joyous experience. HI Anagram, Ally, Candice, Gail!!!Mima
|
Boo-hoo..another weekend of rain. I am getting ready to go to an outside chicken BBQ. At least I am not staying in all day feeling depressed. This weather does that to me.
Meme...I haven't thought about Geritol in years. Remember the Ted Mack Amateur hour???? |
Hey There
Well my brother and his wife are back in Az. We had a real good time while they were here.
I went to Tops to check in and was lucky..I turtled. (did not gain) I hope I can just start on the down hill slide. 12 lbs and my sister can call me a cop. I went out to eat last night and the serving was so large I could only eat about a third. Well ,I was one sick girl last night. It was a good thing I couldn't eat it all. My hubby threw it all in the garbage. He said even if it wasn't what made me sick ,it was still too fattening. It was probably just too rich. It has been a quiet weekend so far. I think I will stay quiet tomorrow too. Hope everyone is well..Joanne |
I'll be happy if I turtle next week when I go to TOPS-but I have been walking and I think I've stayed the same. Hanging out in the rain-it's pouring-hope it stops before I leave to go to NH. 2 more days and then I can stay home for 2 months. Bye for now. Mima

http://www.westernbagel.com/grocery/...agel/index.htm
This is a lowcarb bagel got mine today and they are good and only 1 pt! DH and I had Tuna melt on one for supper! Oh yeah...I hurt big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too many storms here! |
Hey There
Mima. Staying the same is good. It is really hard when you are on the road. We will go to my daughters this week again so I will try to watch it. She is good to be around as far as my eating is concerned. She helps me stay aware.
Candice..I doubt that I can find those bagels down here. Lenders are about all I see. I love bagels but They do have a lot of points. I usually only eat a half. That is 3 pts. Hope all of you are well. My back is giving me a fit.. Bye for now ...Joanne |
This is exactly how I feel!

Hi
Where is everybody??? Sure is a quiet board.
Well, we went looking for a place to call home and we found one - in Edmonton. So, it looks like I am moving home after all these years of being away. I am very happy about that. It means finding a whole new everything however. New Dr., New Dentisit, new chiro and on and on it goes. I will just keep all the ones I have right now for the first while. It is only a 100 mile drive to get here. We move on the weekend of the 21-22 June. This place is great. It has a sauna and hot tub, which I know I will love on those bad days; It has an exercise room with all kinds of stuff in it, but mostly I want to use the treadmill. It also has a games room, with ping pong, pool, shuffleboard and darts in it; There is a library and a small chapel as well. Then up to the roof for a rooftop terrace and a party room. The suite we have chosen will be on the 4th floor - I just couldn't bring myself to go any higher. There are 12 floors. My kids are now only 1/2 an hour away. Things seem to be falling into place. It is a really windy day here today. No so nice. It was our 29th anniversary yesterday. Wonder where all the times go! Hope everyone is having a great day.:) |
Sounds like a nice place Anne. There's no place like home.
I am anxious for nicer weather to walk outside and get off the treadmill. It didn't rain today but the ground is still soaked. I think I have gained ten pounds in the last week!! |
WHEW...glad it's not me moving!!! The moving to decorate about killed me!
Rain here - Fibro and Arthur are fighting over who is in worse shape! My skin is even hurting! |
I lost another pound... I think this having to stay off my feet is really helping me to lose weight!
|
Meme..your just too funny;) is it cold there too?????
Happy...Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!! Give Dh a good present;) Too the dentist today for checkup and cleaning...all ok for now....oh so cold here and pain so bad! Joanne..those bagesl are only in California I think..I had to order them online..but they are good. Ally..you would have to work really hard to gain 10 pounds in a week:D ;) :D Mima..rain rain go away...wow 2 months off..how nice! |
I ordered these too!:D

Thaqnks for the info Candice. Finished working-I have such mixed feelings about it-even skipped a big party last night because I just wanted to be home-maybe because there is so much to do and then I miss Brad-he's going to come and visit next time-that will help. But I do have fun at night visiting with my new friends. And I also don't ache as much because I only sit and walk. But oh my stomache!!!!Takes time for it to straighten out. Like I said-mixed feelings. Then again-900$ more for Fl.Anne-glad you found a place you like-It sounds great-I loved living in a condo but I didn't have the amenities that you will have. Whirlpool!!!That will feel so good. Feel better Meme-Bye for now-MIma
