New Here..with Insulin Resistance

Hello!! I've been wanting to join for few years..yes a few years but never got around to it. I have been on Medifast for a few months and lost alot of inches around my waist. I am insulin resistant and NOTHING was working. Anyways, I want to get off Medifast and eat more whole healthy foods. I would love to know or hear from anyone who has insulin resistance and what type of eating has worked for them and how they achieved the fat loss. IR people have stubborn belly fat that won't budge. I love the idea of eating every few hours, I think thats how Medifast worked for me. Going to try the jay robb egg white protein in a blender with some greens and drink that every 2 or 3 hours with two low carb meals and a few snacks, along with walking 45 min on the treadmill twice a day. My problem in my life was I worked out alot, but was afraid to eat and always stayed fat. Now I know food is not the enemy, its how you eat it. I do understand that protein and carb ratio's are very important for diabetics and IR people. Would love any help. I used to eat about 800 calores my whole life. I know terrible. :carrot:

Hello, welcome!
I also have insulin resistance and have found that taking a combination of chromium picolinolate and cinnamon along with fish oil and a daily vitamin helps my weight loss. I didn't lose a pound--once I started taking the first two, cravings for sugar immediately stopped. Hunger lessened. And pounds started coming off. I've lost about 11 lbs so far. Which, as a fellow insulin resistant person, you know this is not always an easy feat.
As for what I'm eating...I'm actually eating whatever I want. I just keep it at or under 1500 cals a day. I work out a lot too. I find that helps. You should head over to the PCOS forum on this site because it's a combo forum with IR. Lots of great reads over there.
