Hi Candice:

Your selling Tupperware reminded me of the Tupperware Hamper I have upstairs in the bathroom. It really must be an antique. I bought it in the late 1950's from my next door neighbor who sold Tupperware. At the time I thought it was terribly expensive but considering how many years I have used it, it was a bargain. It is round with a loosely removable top and fairly tall. There is just enough room for it between the old-fashioned iron radiator under the window and the bathtub. No other shape would have fit there.

I got my Flu shot today!

Haven't been on the Nightowls site for a while - been too busy going to doctors.

Freddie:)

Well...we made it here! It is great!!! We are up on the sixth floor and sitting in the livingroom, you can't even see the beach...just the ocean. Almost TOO close...Makes me dizzy! :dizzy: We had a little wind and periods of rain but otherwise a good drive. No problems whatsoever. Hubby is taking a little nap and then we are going to go out to dinner and then to Wal Mart to get our groceries for the week. This is a really nice place. The bed is huge (but hard...will have to buy an eggshell mattress tonight). There is 2 bathrooms and a big livingroom. The kitchen has everything we will need. Glass table and 4 chairs along with a bar, balcony and outside chairs. Lots of closet space. 2 pools and the beach. I think I'm in love!!!

Gonna go lay down for 30 minutes....I'm really tired. Yesterday, the Dr. office called and said my blood was too low so I had to go to the hospital and have more blood work done before I could get my gold shot. It came back just 2 pts. higher but since I was leaving for over a week, they went ahead and gave me my shot. Said to be careful because it would drop again after the shot! I can already tell it has. I'm pooped!!! Hubby wanted to postpone our trip but I said no way...I'll rest a lot!!! And...those of you who know me well just KNOW that's the truth!!!

Hi Meme Too:

Have a wonderful vacation. I went by Nashville and Lakeland on the way to California last May. Is that Route 40? We could have made Nashville in one day but since we were to visit a person in Lakeland the next morning stayed somewhere on the outskirts of town and got a fresh start the second morning.

You take care of yourself and don't overdo anything!!!!!!!!!!

Freddie

Arghghg. Snow? I just want Fall weather. Today it is dark and kinda muggy....rain maybe. Maybe not.
Freddie...I LOVE your sense of humor. Welcome. And I think I am still the baby here at 46.
Unless I missed another newbie.
Candice.....WOW, expensive shoes!!! I wanted some little cute MaryJanes in Payless. Even had a coupon. But those cheap shoes kill my feet. Have to go get the same style of shoe in the expensive shoe store for $100.
Get this...one of my kids stole my wrinkle cream. I told him to use it for his dry nose....he had a cold and really irritated his nose. So he told me he has it in his school locker. I am going to kill him.
Immune Pro is undenatured whey protein. One of the many things recommended to Fibro people to clean out toxins and build up immunity. Well, I did not get the colds my kids brought home from school...but it doesn't help with mucle pain. This was a bad bad summer for pain.

Effenbee 10-05-2002 04:53 PM

46!!! You are the baby. My son was born in 1946. Just got back from my volunteering work at the Virginia Air and Space Center. Took time off to go see Apollo 13 on their IMAX theater screen. It was really good and of course I worked for NASA in those years (from 1944 to 1988) except for time off when my son was born.

I am going to lie down and rest right now. My back is killing me again.

Freddie:dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

Effenbee 10-06-2002 01:01 PM

Candice, you said "Freddie you are a hoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what did you do at NASA???? (or did you tell us?)"

I don't know if I know what I did. Since things at first were mostly classified Confidential or Secret and even TOP Secret (I was the only one who had a Q-clearance and had to do all the Top Secret papers), I got in the good habit of never telling anybody what I did or read in Technical Editing. It could have been unclassified but I wouldn't remember which was which. Most (or all) of the first seven astronauts would come to our office. My favorite was Deke Slayton. He wasn't a prima donna. My most unfavorite was Glenn. He had a lot of political pull!!! I always thought Sheppard should be the first to go into space because he looked most like the monkey that went before that flight.

When the accident happened with the schoolteacher aboard, everyone in my office knew that that flight should have not called off because of the bad weather. When we heard the sad news, we at once said "Oh, the 0-ring failed". The technical papers we had read mentioned the 0-rings failure in freezing weather. But they had to follow the new President's orders because he wanted the space shuttle to go the day of his big speech. We knew that if Chris Kraft had been the guy to give the "Go" or "No Go" that day, the shuttle would not have been launched. Christopher Columbus Kraft was from Phoebus. That is the part of Hampton I live in, and I went to high school with Christie. I understand he still lives in Houston. He never (except for visits) returned to his home town.

This is enough for now. :( :) and I don't know how to make the devil devil

Ally0306 10-06-2002 05:44 PM

Freddie...what an interesting life you have had. And I had just quit work to stay home with my twin boys when the Challenger happened. (it was the Challenger, wasn't it?) I remember just sitting there thinking that was just on TV,. it wasn't real.
Candice....yeah, I gotta try somemore stuff. Maybe that guafensin stuff. Says that it cleans out mucous. I don't smokeany more but have a lot of that!!!
I will look at the Birk's Mary Janes, but I want to spend $9.99

Effenbee 10-06-2002 06:56 PM

Maybe my life was interesting. I sure knew all the big wigs. I never thought it was interesting since I hated the job I was given at NASA (formerly NACA when I first went to work). I majored in Physics at the College of William & Mary but the NACA nuts in charge wouldn't hire a woman physicist because it meant they would have to let a male go into the military service. My life is not interesting now. I spend most of my time going to doctors it seems.

Freddie :) :) |devil|

I will make lots of pictures...have been too busy enjoying myself so far! :p This is an absolutely great place. It's so relaxing. We just sat out on the beach and watched the sunset tonight. After we got down there hubby said we should have brought the camara down but I wanted to go for a walk in the ocean and didn't want to be bothered having to carry anything.

We did some shopping today. I bought over $200 at the Black and Decker Store in the Factory Outlet Mall in Foley. I also bought some PJs a new Bible and a camara port and rechager for my digital camara. Spent nearly $400 in all...but that is my only day of shopping. Gonna do cruises, fishing, swimming, etc. the rest of the week. This is just what I needed...I feel better already! AND I STILL HAVE SIX MORE DAYS...well...actually just five...can't count next Saturday as we will have to drive home. Hubby is going to do some calling tomorrow morning and book us a dinner cruise and a dolphin cruise and try to find himself a deep sea fishing charter. I told him I didn't think I could do one of those. I guess I will just have to lay by the pool and read the day he does that!!!

MeMe:

I have trouble getting to this site with the link given to me in the e-mail notice I get. I finally got to read what you wrote. Then I couldn't seem to get a "Reply" box. I hope this one doesn't disappear.

I once (probably started in '97) belonged to a group of people trying to lose weight. We got real friendly and would write to each other just about every day. One day someone suggested a midway place where we could have a get-together.Things looked great. Most could come. Suddenly, almost all the EL'ers (as we called ourselves) quit writing. The only ones left was me and maybe two others. Then there were two. I and the other woman now write to each other once or twice a year.I know she doesn't know I was in an accident June 13, 2001. I think we do just pasteups. She sends me religious stuff and she knows I am Jewish and she can't convert me but I try to send her stuff that I get that is funny (but no sex, politics, or religion).

So I am not too sure about us all living near each other. Maybe just a couple of us would be nice.

Freddie:devil: :?:

Good morning-retire!I only work 8 days every 2 months for vacation money.Retired from teaching Dec 98. Freddie-you are so interesting. Christa McAuliffe is from my neck of the woods. Meme,it's so grat to hear you relaxing. I am going through bouts of sadness, don't know if it;s the hormone change or I have been doing too much. Doc says 2 more weeks on the FEMHRT to see. And I'm wondering if my thyroid is low. Going to Boston tomorrow to shop for cruise-that's a pick me upper. Bye for now Mima

MemeToo 10-07-2002 11:50 AM

Freddie...don't worry...I wasn't planning to move anytime soon!

We have a Dolphin Cruise scheduled for this evening. Tomorrow, we plan to fish off a huge fishing bridge nearby. They were catching several fish off there yesterday...looked like fun. It goes way out over the ocean. Then, Wednesday, We are going on a 6 hr. deep sea fishing cruise. Hubby is going to fish but I'm going as an observer. I can't do deep sea fishing. Then, Thursday night, we are going on a dinner crusie. Of course...Wed. and Thursdays cruises depend on if we get sea sick on the dolphin cruise this evening! That's why we decided to do the 2 hr. dolphin cruise first...then, if we get sick, we won't do the other 2. :faint: :p
