Hugs to my fellow IBS suffers, I was originally diagnosed with chrons but then was changed to Ibs about 4 years ago.

I found that the one diet that really worked for me was SCD (specific carb diet) and leaving my stressful job. Breaking the vicious cycle is a good book on the subject and there are a ton of web resources on it. I'm virtually attack free now!

For those that lactose is an issue, try making your own yogurt and let it ferment for 24 hours, then it's virtually lactose free. Most places only ferment for 12 hours.

Yay first post ever! I'm happy that there's a forum out there for people losing weight coupled with other health issues!

Hey everyone. I was diagnosed with "possible" IBS back in 2005. I'm lucky in that I don't seem to have any trigger foods besides beans and if I over-do it on gassy vegitables. My main trigger is STRESS. If I become overly stressed I immediately have to run to the bathroom. It could be worse, though. My mom had ulcertive colids when I was growing up, and that was much more severe than my IBS ever has been. She had precancer in 2000 and had to have her colon removed as a result, so I'm just thankful I wasn't blessed with that.

I have been hospitalized twice because of IBS related pain, though. This most recent time my pains were so severe I was convinced I was having a baby without knowing I was pregnant. Now I have bentol (sp?) to take if I have the spasms and pain, and that seems to do the trick. The only problem is I have to leave work to take it as it knocks me out. I have noticed, though, that as I've lost weight, my attacks have become fewer and further between. Or maybe I'm managing my stress better as I'm working out more? It's hard to say. Has anyone esle noticed this?

exercise is a great anti-stress tool, my fiancée swears he can tell which days I work out and which I don't bc I'm much more relaxed. It's even prescribed for mild depression!

I have found that eating Activia yogurt daily helps me. Also, I just learned that my gallbladder needs to come out and I was wondering if some of my pain was related to the gallbladder and not necessarly the IBS. Anyone ever have burning feeling in the stomach, back, and sides?
