Meme,
I know you asked Anagram - and I haven't jumped in here yet - but I can answer your question ... Hypertension (high thyroid) usually causes people in extreme situations to LOSE weight and be agitated all the time ... Hypotension (low thyroid) is the one that causes you to be tired all the time and often gain weight. I have the latter and have been under treatment now for about ten years. I live in the central part of VA - home to the WAHOOS! Anagram kindly let me know of this "thread" and I am new here - I have three different diagnosed kinds of arthritis (one was teenage onset) and some fibro ... a knee replacement ... and a positive attitude in life! I feel blessed to have found this place :) |
Thanks for the info, Krickett. And welcome to the Fibro Thread. I have Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis and Fibro, too. I've had surgery on both knees...that problem started when I was 9. I would love to go back to VA and visit. I was 3 when we moved from there to NC so I don't remember anything about VA. Then, when I was 9 we moved to MI. I married in MI and then moved to TN where my husband is from. I thought I would never get used to it here. The pace is so much slower than in the big city...I was used to Detroit! But I love it here now.
Do any (or all) of you drink a lot of diet drinks or use a lot of Equal? I've been getting all this info from friends and relatives about Aspartame and fibro symptoms. I've seen all this stuff before and stopped using the stuff for awhile and didn't see any difference in the way I felt!? |
If you stayed there until you were a young lady, you would know that I am about 80 miles southeast of Richmond - an hour and half drive. Wish you lived near me.

Hi Kricket. Welcome. I hope you new people will stick around and join us.
Now I AM GOING TO START A NEW THREAD. THIS HAS HIT PAGE 4!!! |
It's low that usually causes weight gain. The strange thing is that I've thought for years I had low thyroid but always tested ok. So I finally lose some weight and think I'm feeling better than in ages and it shows up low. I don't think it's all that low but I took the first pill this a.m. I do have a lot of fatigue though but I always tired easily. I'm anxious to see how it affects weight loss too but need to eat "healthy" no matter what so won't change much even if don't continue to lose a bit.
I thought I had a lot to get in before we leave Friday for a wedding. But it's nothing compared to your list, Meme. |
Welcome again, Krickett. Looks like we now have one more thing in common.
Yes, it was Langley that introduced my bro to Hampton. He lived a block or so from the beach in Buckroe. Actually I live in a Hampden twp and the spellings were always confused in my family because of the similarity. |
Thank You ;)
Meme, Anagram, and Happy Canuck -
Thank you for the warm welcomes! If you start a new thread you might lose me ... I still don't understand how to navigate this place ... so, if you do - please, please, someone tell me how to get there! I am used to AOL and seeing everybody's posts by subject...hmmm, should I have said that? Maybe, if one of you know what I mean you can tell me what to do here... I find that if I am diligent about doing my bending/stretching exercises I am far better off than if I don't. Do you all find that? I do use some Equal, not a lot. Today for instance I had a whole bottle (quart) of that 0 calorie flavored drink by Crystal Clear. Usually, I just have a glass of Pepsi - if any. The other time I use the stuff is when I make my "shake" breakfast. Frozen fruit, cup of low fat milk, little tofu - and 2 packets of Equal. Much of the time I haven't had any at all - and no, I don't think I have seen a difference. But I will pay particular attention in the future for curiousities sake. Have a great week! |
Kricket, just click on Fibromyalgia #73 instead of #72. This thread is too long, on to page 4, and it takes to long for some to load.
|
That's my point...
Hi Happy Canuck,
That's my point ... how do I find the new thread? I can find the main message board area but don't know how to see the titles of the individual threads ;) Sorry for being obtuse ... I truly am mistified. |
Thanks for starting another thread. I always have trouble with long posts or many posts.

Krickett. When you first come to 3FatChicks you get this board.
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/index.php Find Dieting with Health Problems and click on it. That will take you to the board listing all forums under that topic. You will see Fibromyalgia #72 and #73. Click on #73. You are not being obtuse. It can be intimidating trying to find your way around on these boards:lol: |
Very intimidating if you have an iMac

Krickett...easier way...scroll down to the bottom of this page, look on the left lower corner of the screen and it says 'forum jump'... Dieting with health problems is already there...just click 'Go'. Then click on the new thread - Fibromyalgia # 73.
