  • YA, TIGZ ~ I hear ya .... and I agree wholeheartedly, except that I'm not sure why you don't like Tiger Woods unless it's that you are tired of seeing him win every golf tournie in the whole wide universe ...

I could write a Top 10 Peeves myself, only it may be more like 20 -- here's my list for today ...

1 -- trying to order a vacuum and the sales guy lies and tells you they have it when they don't! And you ask him when it's arriving and he says AUGUST 2010 ... UH, excuse me pal, but that's 5 months away! I'm not leaving my rugs piling up NIKO's hair for 5 whole months. And that really means you don't have any ... and it's on BA or backorder for 5 months???????? NOT!!!

2 -- then I asked him to cancel the NOT AVAILABLE stuff and he didn't! Sales people who don't LISTEN ...

3 -- then I had to make 3 mores calls to get the NOT AVAILABLE bags, belts, and filters for the NOT AVAILABLE vacuum cleaner off the order and my credit card ...

4 -- the fact that they wanted to charge me for said items on my credit card for 5 MONTHS when they don't have it and they know it ... How do YOU spell SCAM?

5 -- do you want to guess who that catalogue mail order company was or should I spell it out for you? Starts with an S and ends with an S ... it looks like this ... S---S. More than half the stuff in their catalogues are NOT AVAILABLE! And business is a little slow these days; I wonder why ...

6 -- Desk order clerks who know how to make an order, but don't know how to cancel said NOT AVAILABLE order (2 so far). It then took a consumer expert lady 3-4 days to sort it all out for me; thank you, GOD! Somebody out there knows their job!

7 -- go to the hardware store to buy a vacuum and there is only one vacuum in the whole store; so let's see, which one should I buy? Uhmmm...

8 -- Said store can't order me a new filter, but will try to get one from the manufacturer ... thank you, GOD! Somebody out there knows their job!

9 -- Why do stores put things on sale for 50% or more off -- the very next week after I buy the same item? Becuz you already bought it, that's why?

10 -- why can't all food have NO CALORIES? Then I could eat what I want and not gain any weight like my DH!

I'm surprised I didn't run into a bag of chippies after this one; but thank you, GOD! I ran to you ...
  • MUSE17 ~ nice of you to stop by our thread for a visit! Glad our TIGZ made you smile ... she does that a lot! She has a good sense of humor and is quite forthright about life! I hope you have success on your journey to a healthy weight; I have the same goal as you can see from my moniker ...

HI RONNI ~ don't you apologize at all, honey! You and yours have been through the ringer this past year. I think that is a great idea to have a redo of your bathroom; that WILL give you something else to focus on and it will be so nice when it's done too. Go all out and make it as inviting and soothing as you can afford to. Lots of nice things don't have to cost a lot of money; little touches like pretty towels and curtains, etc.

You will get things under control eventually. I didn't eat perfect this week and it has been a bit stressful too. I am just grateful I didn't turn to junkies, but I did eat a bit more than normal for two days. Did better the last two days, but we did have our Friday Fun dinner of a hamburger and some real fries with gravy.

Well, the did finally come out, but not until about 6 pm; a little later than they thought. I hope it comes back for tomorrow as that would help melt some of this ***** for us. This AM, I shovelled off the front porch and DH did the lane a bit at a time as it was heavy, wet stuff. We're just having a lazy evening at home tonight.

Hope you all have a great weekend; and do take good care of you and yours ... Rosebud
  • Thanks JustWant2Bhealthy

for your "welcome" post. I also just want to be healthy, and I can't really get motivated to try and get the impossible perfect body. I'll leave that to actors and models and those wanting an eating disorder!
I just want to be within my BMI or as close to it as I can get and most of all TO BE HAPPY on my journey and not suffer.
    This forum is great.
    Thanks!
I haven't done the Qi Gong or yoga yet.oops! I will do 10 minutes now before bed, because I reckon 10 minutes of exercise I enjoy is what I need!
  • HI MUSE17 ~ yes, and you really don't have that far to go either -- about 9 lbs, so that is very doable! I do short spurts of different exercises throughout my day now, even when I am on my PC as I am waiting for things to come up, I may do few ez things: it all adds up.

I found a good book with an EZ plan in my lost box of books called "8 MINUTES IN THE MORNING" by JORGE CRUISE and it has some really good ideas in it. I have been reading it the last 2 days and am almost done. I am already doing exercises upon waking and he recommends this idea too. It is a week by week plan and I will add in Jorge's strength building exercises with mine starting this Monday AM.

I should be able to do many of them or versions of them; but the ones that are just too hard, I will skip for now and replace them with something that I can do that is very similar instead. His eating plan is very EZ: it is based on portions/calories but he does all the work for you with a unique card system that you just photocopy and fill in the boxes as you eat your portions for the day. This is one of the easiest ways to do a calorie/portion plan that I have seen in a long time. Those who don't like a lot of fuss would like it ...

We had lots of today, although it was cooler with some strong winds today. Becuz it was so lovely today, we decided to go out for a drive for a couple of hours -- we went looking at houses that are for sale as we enjoy doing that and also to get some ideas for our little cabin/chalet that we are building on our lot.

Hope all you all have a Marvellous Maunday tomorrow; and do take good care too ... Rosebud
  • Hit Twosieland today: 80 lbs gone forever!
Got fabulous news today! Well, I decided to brave my scale this morning ... I hadn't been weighed since last winter, and was even wondering if I would ever see that scale get under 300 lbs!

So over the winter, I have lost some poundage and lots of inches -- I know I was over 310+ lbs and this morning I weighed 298 for the first time in 18+ years!

This is a HUGE MILESTONE for me with all the stalls and plateaus I have hit along the way; not to mention the battle with so much pain. THANK the LORD for continued strength throughout all this time, especially this past winter after being discouraged by a nasty nurse last year. I'd love to stick my tongue out at her, so here goes ...

So, I have lost 80 LBS FOREVER!!!

Thanks to all my friends on this thread for your continued support!!!
  • Rosebud-I am just thrilled for you!! That's really the best news I've heard in a long time. You have worked so hard and stuck with your plan even when the docs and nurses were discouraging you and trying to talk you into surgeries. You have been such an inspiration to me (and to many others, I'm sure) and I can only tell you to keep up the great work!
  • CONGRATS ROSEBUD!!!

    :chee rs:

Well done on all the hard work! So happy for you. Keep inspiring the rest of us!

Welcome Muse17, nice to meet you. Glad you liked my post and please feel free to make yourself at home here. This forum has been a great help to me. Helps keep me on the right side of sane (no seriously I am - sometimes! LOL). I've also reached the point where I have accepted I will never be completely thin, I can only try and be as healthy as I can and try and keep myself moving. The ladies on here are great at keeping you going when you lack the strength yourself.

Well Scotland has been Scorchio for 3 days. 32 degrees C today in our back garden . This has been me for the last 3 days: hehehe. SO and I look like we've had 2 weeks in Spain! And OMG the energy its given me. Went for a walk this morning with the kids and the dog (little girl is almost back to 100% and son is back from bio-daddy's), was beautiful and sunny and nice and early so it was quiet too. Dog went paddling in the Loch (blimin freezin) and my kids wrote their names on the beach. But Jeez am I out of shape. I've lost so much muscle in my legs over the past couple of months. The numbness and loss of control over my left leg has subsided now, at least back to where it normally is, so its time to very gently start getting the legs moving properly again. Been doing my physio in the house and in the garden for the last 2 weeks and thought today was the day. Paying for it now ROFL! On the couch with the legs up wrapped in a blankie! I'm such a muppet!

Had a lovely BBQ tonight with meat and veggies YUMMMM. Had tuna pasta (homemade) yesterday, it was so refreshing after it being so hot. Love this weather, it puts me right off chocolate too. All I want is fresh fruit and salads OK need to stop talking about food, making myself hungry!

Going shopping tomorrow and AGAIN have yet another busy busy week. It just keeps getting worse. My parents are busy this week too so can't even help us out with the kids. They like to take them out whenever they get the chance as they are their only grandkids and they spoil them rotten LOL We've pencilled in Friday as the only day they're free and so are the kids!

Right, going to go. I have to get prepared for tomorrow, get myself organised so its all done for the morning. Then I can let my morning coffee kick in!

Take care all and Rosebud - YOU ARE A STAR!
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • yay congrats rosebud! way to go
  • THANKS, ladies ~ I really appreciate all the support and encouragement ...

We had a full day of today; it was really nice out so we went shopping today and I got lots of walking in ... too much really and my feet are throbbing so I am gonna go make myself some tea and rest for the remainder of the evening. I picked up a couple of recipe books on a clearance sale: one is for type 2 Diabetics and the other one is full of lower carb dishes including some meatless meals. I'm just looking for some variations, as I like to try new things now and then.

Have a great week ladies ... Rosebud
  • Hello, everyone! Hope you're all having a nice day/week I think things are starting to catch up with me, as I'm so tired I can hardly move today and definitely don't want to have to think about anything. Having lots of MS symptoms again too and we have to go to doc today to see if DS3's and my ear infections are recurring (started when we were in IN with Dad), as those symptoms have not gone away. Also, need to get some shopping done, but just not in the mood for it.

The end of the school year is looming and we still need to finish DS3's tests, which were put on hold when Dad got sick, and I'm afraid his scores aren't going to be as good as normal due to all the stress. Also, have stuff to get ready for DS2's senior day at church. And, still have a table full of stuff to sort of Dad's and ours from the extended trip to IN-my dining room looks like a tornado went through because of all the paperwork and bins of things to sort and store. Dad had a lot of tools and misc stuff for carpentry projects that we have inherited, so must find places to keep it for the boys for when they are on their own.

Wish I had something interesting to share, but right now my life is pretty boring and depressing. Based on the last month, though, I absolutely don't want any kind of excitement or crisis stirring things up.

I hope you all have a nice day! to all!

  • Doh! I wrote a post on here the other day, big long one, of course, clicked to preview to check for typos and then forgot to submit!

Well, despite volcanic ash grounding every flight in the UK, we had another nice sunny day today, although I was a little too busy to see much of it LOL Tomorrow is to be even better and the kiddies are away with Grannie and Grampa SO and I have decided to get everything we need to do done in the morning and then the afternoon we'll be

Gave the old legs a break today, no walkies. The dog is in a huff. Also needed to give the old lungs a break too, still choked with this chest infection. It sucks, but I also have no appetite because of it, so there is a silver lining in every cloud ROFL Or there's phlem in every cough HAHA Snot in every sneeze...

SO is well into restoring our old Jag, he's like a man possessed! Oh well, keeps him out of trouble! LOL Kids are doing great, been really happy with their behaviour this week. I think they are starting to appreciate living in a house where there's hardly ever any shouting! DS impressed the **** outta me today. Got him a workbook from the local pound store to help him practise his writing and pencil control and he has done it all brilliantly, with hardly any help. This is a little boy that this time last year could just about draw a circle and that was it. I'm so proud of him. So proud of DS too as she is writing sentences down for him to copy to practise as well. I just hope they are always this close to each other.

Ronni - Sorry to hear you are having a bad patch with the MS. Hope it passes soon

Take care all, seeya all after I've been on the sunlounger and sipping a few cocktails! ROFL

  • HI LADIES ~ We've been busy last two days; went up town and picked up some more gardening stuff that we needed (composted soil and a few more seeds), so I can grow more veggies as they are sooooooo very expensive up here.

Yesterday, I made some low-sugar blueberry refrigerator jam with some blueberries we picked last summer; and it turned out really nice. I created the recipe myself and it was very easy and quick to make.

Did my daily housechores in the AM: today was floors -- sweeping, moppping, and vacuuming with my new cleaner; boy, that sure burns up energy but I'll sleep very good tonight too! We had leftover roasted chicken and veggies for dinner tonight.

Hope you all have a FABULOUS FRIDAY tomorrow; do take good care ... Rosebud
  • Oh, I forgot to mention that I also found some new STRETCHIE BANDS here in town; I didn't even know they were here and I got the last package. I also found a pedometer which can track my steps, km's, and calories burned if I wish. I forgot to put it on today; that will take some practice.

I am just adding in some more strength training exercises by Jorge Cruise so I don't want to overload myself all at once. He also encourages POWER WALKING for extra exercise too. With my toning exercises and walking and chaire aerobics, and ST and all the housechores which I spread out from Monday to Friday, I have increased my activity quite a bit, but I have to be careful not to overdo it and takes lots of rest in between.

This afternoon, I just put my legs up, wrote letters, did some reading; reheated leftover dinner; and tonight came in here. Just had some tea, so it's time to put my legs up again. I pulled a muscle on my right side just turning too quickly while making my breakfast this morning ... geepers, can you believe that?

See you later ... and be good!
  • JUST a quick pop in, as it's pretty late ~ I am on my way to bed. I spent the evening listening to music and reading more of Jorge Cruises' book and doing the workbook part of it. He asks questions and gets you to journal a bit each day as well, so I got caught up on that.

So far so good -- I did have to modify some of the exercises a bit as some of them stress my knees too much at this point, so I am doing some of them a bit differently (like while sitting on a chair, which he does show a few times).

My back is a lot better, but still needs a bit more rest; think I'll take it easy for the weekend and it should be OK by the beginning of next week. These kinds of strains get better with rest; boy, sure gotta watch it as we age.

Take good care and hope you all have a wonderful weekend ... Rosebud
  • HI THERE ~ laundry/bedding day; took all morning, then did a bit of mending while resting that sore back of mine (that I pulled making my brekky yesterday). Not much action going on around here this weekend. We awoke to *****, but it all melted by lunch; and they are predicting for all day tomorrow -- hope so! Have a Super Sunday tomorrow ladies ... Rosebud
