Thyroid disfunction ?

2 weeks ago my midwife found a small lump on one side of my thyroid. She ran labs and my TSH came back low. We just did another round of thyroid labs and should get the results in a couple days.
I guess I'm just freaking out here because I feel like I'm in limbo. I wonder: is it possible that I could have a lump on my thyroid and it not mean anything? I say this because I keep thinking that the tests will come back saying they're normal and "all is well and go on with your life."
I've had symptoms for months now that everytime I go see a doctor and the run labs they say its normal. symptoms: hair loss, hands are always freezing, hot flashes, when I'm not getting a hot flash I'm freezing even though I'm wearing 3 layers of clothes. heart palps (fast or slow) where I sometimes will end up feeling weak, fatigue, constipation, and have had a hard time losing weight. A week before finding out I was pregnant, I gained 4 lbs even though I hadn't changed my diet and was eating the same exact thing everyday. Now I'm up at 8 lbs even though nothings really changed and I walk an hour a day on my treadmill.
All I know is that I'm going to be seriously irritated if the tests come back normal with all this going on.

And your irritation will be justified. If they are normal, perhaps you need a referral to an endocrinologist?

Tests came back normal, including an thyroid antibody test. but there's still the issue about the lump in my thyroid. My midwife said that if I was still concerned to see a specialist but that she thought I was fine based on the results. And that she would feel my thyroid at my next visit in 2 weeks.
don't know what to think. :(

If your TSH is low it might be hyperthyroidism. You should see an endocrinologist ASAP. Ask them to run a "Free T-4" lab.
