Ruptured Eptopic

  • I have hit a bump in my weightloss journey. I was in shock when I found out I was pregnant but then I suffered a ruptured eptopic a few days later and had to have emergency surgery. So now I am out of commision for 6 weeks. Unfortunately I had to have a full incision and the pain is more than I expected. I am going to try my hardest to maintain my weightloss until I can get back in th gym. Any tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Karen
  • I'm sorry to hear about your loss and the painful after-surgery you are going through.

Since exercising is probably a big No-No right now, just remember you can control your diet. Stick to vegetarian or even vegan foods. Stick to Water! And remember, your body is now repairing itself... It's still burning calories. You've already come a long way, 6 weeks might set you back a pound or two, but it certainly won't sabotage you...
  • I feel that when you are healing from surgery is not the time to be dieting. Your body needs to use a lot of energy to heal. The heat, redness and pain are all signals that your body is healing.
Although you should not overeat, you should eat a diet with plenty of nutrients, and forget about dieting till you are healed up. Thanks.
  • Sorry to hear of your loss, but take your time recovering and don't worry about your diet. You need time to heal, eat healthy food and follow doctor's orders.
  • If I were in your situation (and I'm so sorry that you had to go through that), I would probably try to eat maintenance calories as you heal.
  • Yep - when you are healing from surgery is NOT the time to try to eat a reduced calorie diet. Your body is going to require fuel to heal.

I agree that you should eat your maintenance calories, at least for the first few weeks, then see how you're feeling and go from there. But please don't reduce calories now...it'll only delay your healing.
  • i'm so sorry sweety about what you went through. please please get enough rest and nutrition. your health is the most important thing right now
