For years I've always had a lower blood temperature and I've NEVER had a doctor even MENTION anything about it, look into it, etc.... and yet I've found that that's a symptom to a lot of things including thyroid problems! But did they ever look into it when I mentioned it?? Noo.... of course not.

Also.... it's REALLY hard for me to work with the sleep schedule thing... I work midnights and rarely sleep more than 5 hours at a time. *sigh* I sleep in incriments, which I'm sure doesn't help how I'm feeling. :/

If I don't get anywhere with these doctors... I'll definitely keep the homeopathic stuff in mind. Thanks :)

Oh! Don't even get me started with the thyroid "normal" range blood test!!! That's even worse than the iron!!

But believe me starfishkitty - I KNOW how you feel okay - my life is very stressful too, I don't get enough sleep, and I feel like I'm running myself ragged. However, I refuse to let that be yet another thing I beat myself up about. I just do what I can. And if that means I go to sleep at 12:15 am instead of 12:30 am - that's a HUGE accomplishment for me!

I have found just taking note and being aware of all the ways I have stress in my life is helping me see where I can make improvements. I have a very Type A personality, so I strive for perfection in every way, so my lesson is to learn how to be kinder to myself. Just being aware of the stresses in my life is the first step to being kinder, and it does really help.

I think it's awesome that you made yourself a priority, saved up the money and got the blood work you needed. That's a step in the right direction. Oh, if you are interested in naturopathy or homeopathy but worried you can't afford it - try seeking out a school - the students will need people do practice case studies on, that way you can get the benefits for free!

Where there's a will, there's a way!!

So, I got the results back.

Other than an extreme Vitamin D deficiency (I got like... 17) and slightly elevated cholesterol.... I'm pretty much healthy. :carrot:

Which is totally a relief... but at the same time worries me because of what we'd talked about above. (The whole my levels might be normal to most but aren't normal to me) The doctor put me on 50,000 IU of Vitamin D twice a week for the next three months.... I've taken 2 pills and I'll definitely say I DO feel a little bit of a difference..... just a overall perk in "normal" feeling and a little bit more energy..... bones not aching as much, etc.

I'm going to go with this, see how I feel when the 3 months are up and then go from there. Also, I'll be picking up my test results so that I can have a copy for future reference as well, especially if I decide to go see some kind of specialist in the future if this doesn't clear up and this doctor is obviously not willing to pursue anything else. And hey, if it IS the V-D thing, then so be it.

I've been doing a lot of reading on the V-D deficiency thing..... I don't think people realize just how much of an impact it is!

Thanks for the support guys.... keep your fingers crossed this is the answer to my problems! :^:

I am also Vitamin D deficinet. It's amazing how that affects all the organs of your body. Eczema isn't really a sign of thyroid disease. I have that too. Take a minute and google Vitamin D and read up about it.

Thank goodness you can fix this with supplementation!!! You'll feel better soon enough!
Hang in there...

I DO feel a heck of a lot better (the energy increase is amazing).... but I just don't feel that that's THAT..... I've just had too many problems in my life to be explained by a simple V-D deficiency.... or is it?? Argh. Like my best friend once said..... why can't they have a machine we can walk through one side and come out the other with nothing wrong? lol ;)

please check into liver disease.....you dont have to be fat to have fatty liver disease and you dont have to be an alcoholic to have fatty liver disease. this could hereditary..and over exhaustion could be a trigger.

katiejames 05-03-2009 07:55 PM

a vitamin d deficiency can come from your liver not functioning properly.

starfishkitty 05-12-2009 10:02 AM

How do I get that checked?? One thing that I noticed is that I can't drink the way I used to anymore (not that that's a bad thing!!)... when I do, the next day it's like my liver and kidneys are about to jump out of my back. Taking the massive amounts of Vit D that the doctor prescribed seems to have helped it though... even my hangovers are gone. Well, hangovers as in the 2 times that I've drank in the past month and a half or so that I've been taking these supplements.
