Hi Ladies
No much news today it is really hot weather today well humid so air conditioning is on full blast. Fortunately I had made dinner another day so it is just a reheat job today. Managed to get a walk in early today also so that is out the way. ROSEBUD :~ It completely left my head another reason for Charlie horses can be lack of fluids. Especially when it is hot weather we lose more fluid by perspiring than we put in. So that is another issue to be aware of in your pursuit of curing the cramps. Wishing you well with your area of skin on your ankle caused your plimsolls. I fully sympathise I have had a few blisters in my time from shoes usually at the back of my heel. Then it took weeks to heal up. I hated having to bed in a new pair of shoes. Now I have found a brand of shoes that I do not have those problems so I stick with those. Not too much choice but boy do my feet appreciate it. MEOWEE :~ Gosh you were well educated, I am afraid mathematics baffled me and still does. I struggled so much with that over the years and worked so hard to get myself up to the required level to be able to administer drugs safely. I worked with health care of the elderly for many years so often dosages of drugs especially the injections were given in low doses which meant using a fraction of the medication in the vial. So you had to work out mathemathically how much was required. English is much happier subject for me  Well no more news for today so that is all for today bye ladies  |
HELLO CHICKIES ~ we had really hot humid weather today too, so we just stayed home with the air conditioner on as well (just like PURPLE. I just stayed indoors and did some reading and research on some bushes we bought the other day so I know where to plant them.
Talked a bit to my Dad today; I kept getting phone calls all day. Of course, most were those marketeers wanting to sell something. We had a good day though. I watered my drum gardens and flowers; and thinned a few things out. PURPLE ~ yah, those running shoes tore up my thin delicate skin all the more: boy does that sting. I put some mild peroxide cleaner on and then took a pain pill before bed so that I could sleep. It seems to be getting better each day. HI MEOWEE ~ yes, we got your message today; and that idea about the soap bar may have its merit, becuz I could see how stretching our legs now and then to reach for the bar of soap may help our legs unwind or unknot, so-to-speak! ;) Some people believe that we get CHARLIE HORSES or leg cramps becuz our muscles are 'ASLEEP' or extremely relaxed; and then we stretch our legs too fast and the muscles didn't have time to 'wake-up', so they sort of 'SNAP' or 'KNOT' which causes the pain. ANOTHER THEORY is about a lack of lactic acid in the muscles, but PURPLE may have something about a lack of water and potassium too. I may just try that soap idea becuz if it works, that's all that matters to me ... Hope you ladies all have a great weekend; take good care, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
It is another humid day which makes me feel very lethargic. So I am doing the bare minimum possible just done the laundry and going to peg that out in a moment and put the Hoover round. Then that is it fortunately no main meal to cook for the day our friends have invited us around for tea at 5pm so that will be gratefully received I can tell you. Suppose to have thunderstorms as well later today at get up to the dizzy :dizzy: temperatures of 26C. I really know  that this is not hot but it is to me when we seldom get temperatures over 30c only once in a blue moon. Just been watching a programme about Tiggywinkles the largest animal hospital. Initially it was for just hedgehogs hence the name taken from Beatrix Potter book. They do some fabulous work nursing wild animals back from sick health. Can not believe that they get around 40 deer a month just involved in RTA (road traffic accident) alone never mind all the other variety of creatures. There are some very dedicated people around and people even can volunteer as a "foster mum" but that will mean maybe hourly feeds initially with a very young baby animal. ROSEBUD :~ Like you I will try anything to solve a problems no matter how weird it may seem. I have read that soap is useful to some sufferers of cramp (Charlie horses). Just briefly stopped writing this post to put out washing and Hoover round. Thought I would take the opportunity to Hoover round whilst DH is mowing the lawn that way I am not asking him to move or Rizzie for that matter. I knew that Rizzie would follow my DH out as he is is a real mans dog. I think he is known as a real "daddies boy" plus he had put his shoes on to go outside which to Rizzie means only one thing "walkies". Hope your ankle feels a little better today and the painkiller did the trick and gave you some sleep. I think when your in pain which is excruciating every hour seems so long. I know sometimes waiting for my pain killers to kick in they seem to take for ever but in actual fact it is only about 40 minutes. Went out to play cards last night we had a very successful night between us. I won second and so did my DH. We play different positions DH played gent and I played lady. Though it does not go by gender just the name of the role you play. Gents shuffle and deal cards. Where as ladies cut the cards and lead first card if you lost the previous hand. I used to play gent but it got to much for me moving every hand thus I play lady which means I only move to the next table off players if I win otherwise I keep in the same seat. We both won the same prize so we gave one of them to our friends who had not won. We also won a raffle prize of bacon and tomatoes. So excellent night prize wise. We went a little earlier than normal and had a walk around the playing field next to the village hall. It was a beautiful night and really enjoyable walk. It had freshened up lots by last night so not humid. Hello  Meowee and Valdine hope you are both well. No more news for now so bye for now and take care ladies  |

HI LADIES ~ well, we just had a quiet day at home. The weather was funny; sun and rain; sun and rain; on and off all day long, right into the evening. Poor NIKO got caught in the big showers two or three times. I told DH that's good for him, now we can skip his bath this month ... hehe!
NIKO also goes bonkers when he sees DH getting dressed and putting his shoes on to go outdoors; that's a signal to him that he gets to either go for a walk or go outside on his rope for awhile (we have a long lead attached to the end of our deck, so NIKO can reach well past the end of the building, and watches everything that DH does out there; mostly playing on his cars and other hobbies). Our car is going into the garage Monday for a front-end alignment; our mechanic advised it last time we were there; so we are just staying home until that's done and my ankle can heal up for next week too. Be back in a minute; getting my tea ... I'm back ... DH put the kettle on so we could have a hot drink. PURPLE ~ WOWIE ... you did pretty good at the games last night; even winning some meat and veggies; now, that's a great idea! We are now hitting some really hot temps here too; the other day was in the 90's F or over 30C which is pretty hot for here, but today was in the high seventies, which isn't too bad; the rain kept cooling things off for us. The garden sure needed the rain as we hadn't had any for over a week. I am a real animal lover too, PURPLE , and love to see dedicated volunteers looking after these dears. If I had the money, space, and good health; I'd be a rescuer for sure. I'd have a farm/shelter for all kinds of animals. I'm a turtledove though, so I'd have a hard time giving them away; I'd want to keep them all ~ LOL! I've been doing a short walk everyday around here; and got lots of walking done in town and at the lot, so I know that I did at least two 5K's last week alone. I think VALDINE would be proud of me for that! I hope she's having a great time at her friend's wedding this weekend! HELLO MEOWEE ~ hope you are feeling good and having nice weather out there. I'm sure that living so close to the ocean makes it more humid there; but we've had a bit ourselves the last few years (hope that's not a trend) ... Well, DH is watching a movie while I check in here; I'm gonna try and get to bed earlier tonight to get my feet up so they can be rested well (and my ankle heal). So take good care, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
Just dropped by before we go for our daily stroll/walk in a short while. Weather still remains hot and humid. Though we did not get the predicted thunderstorms last night thankfully. To hot for me to do really anything too energetic. May get my book out later on and get an hours reading in. Had a lovely meal last night with friends and many an hour playing cards. This morning I have made a simple dessert for my sweet toothed DH just drained some tinned peaches in natural juice in a colander and took a few of them and put them in the blender. Then just put a tad of sweetener in some low fat framage frais. The blended mixture of peaches I took a spoonful of that and put it into a desert glass and then a spoonful of framage frais. I did this alternative peaches and then framage frais until I had filled the dish. I took the end of a spoon and gave it a gentle stir two or three times and left it. The mixture was not completely mixed but it had more of a marbled effect. I have made another with using raspberries but just press the raspberries with a fork rather than a blended them. It was like a slightly runny jam consistency. I put a tad bit of sweetener in these as they were a bit tart. I made the same as the peach one with the layering. So sneaky me has found another recipe to get fruit in my DH and make him think he is having a dessert ;) ROSEBUD :~ I am 99% sure I would find it difficult to release the animals back especially the longer I had nursed them. So I soon would have a hospital full of animals as I could not release them back. The deer's I love them they seem so beautiful. I have been lucky enough to see them in the wild and the stags when they come down from the mountains in winter. They are absolutely stunning and breath taking. I would hope when I was in Scotland I would see the mountain goats but I did not see them. They come down lower in the mountains in the winter in order to get food which is less plentiful in winter higher up due to snow. Well done on your exercise that is great and I am sure that it is adding to your overall health. I hated it when I could not exercise now I never thought I would be saying that in a million years but when I had the relapse I could not walk very much at all. So I am now extra grateful for my mobility and being able to exercise. I am still not up to full steam on walking but at least I am managing some most days now. Keep up the great work Rosebud :carrot: Time to go to for my walk so I best close my post but catch you all soon ladies. Take care till next time  |
Good Morning . . . :grouphug:
Yesterday was a disaster . . . woke up with such a nasty migraine, I couldn't even stand the noise of the A/C and the dehumidifier and the house got pretty stifling hot even though there was a breeze and very little sun. About all I did was try to sleep anyway. Today . . . no headache . . . :yay: . . . good thing, too since it is going to be even hotter and more humid and the sun is back -- so I'll really be needing all my noisy appliances today. There's a lot to be said for electric baseboard heating -- it's very clean (amazingly little dust) and quiet, and my house was built for it (so it's well insulated), and, although it used to be the most expensive heating method, it definitely isn't any more since the cost of oil is sky high -- but I really miss central A/C. The window units do the trick, but the noise level is atrocious and they are sooooo ugly, too. Hope everybody else has a really great and fun Sunday . . . :carrot: |
HELLO CHICKIES ~ just having a restful Sunday. We had sun and rain on and off again like yesterday; and my garden and plants and bushes are lovin' it. Put my legs up this aft and worked on some puzzles, then we had an easy frozen casserole for dinner tonight. Dessert was just vanilla ice cream with a little maple syrup and a few almond slices on top.
Not much else to report here, as didn't do much today; played on my PC catching up on requests and working on my hobby: writing songs. Our car goes into the garage tomorrow, so I'm just gonna stay home and get some housework done. PURPLE ~ glad that you are feeling better and are able to get out and do some walking again. You are quite inventive with those desserts; will definately have to try some on my DH too. HI MEOWEE ~ sorry to hear you suffer from migraines; my DH does sometimes too, but he is more fortunate in that they usually go away fairly quickly for him. My step-mother gets them bad too, but they can last hours, so she has to take some meds and go to bed like you. Glad you are feeling better today. VALDINE ... Take good care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD  |
Good Morning . . . although the morning is quickly disappearing since I am running late. Looks like another hot one today so I'd better get myself moving and shaking as soon as I can.
See you all later . . . |
 Hi Ladies
:flow1: It is another warm day here today so again only the bare essentials are getting done I'm afraid. Did do my big grocery shop today so that is out of the way thankfully it is an air conditioned shop so pleasant in there. Not much to report in the way of news. ROSEBUD :~ Yes I love being inventive in the kitchen and good thing was DH loved that dessert :D. Did another one today but used Greek yogurt fat free and I think I preferred the taste to the framage frais. Will be going for a walk later but only a small one hopefully it is a little cooler by then :crossed: Just made some sugar free jellies (jello) with some mandarin oranges in for the next 2 days. I think I will serve it with a small topping of Greek yogurt but not decided as yet. It is my therapy day tomorrow gosh it comes around quick I know that much. So will have to be up early tomorrow so up early for me. Today we had our outside security light repaired as the bulb had gone in it. It was repair in like 5 minutes flat I do not half miss that one as it lights the path to the back door when it is darker. They are coming on Thursday to fix the tap which has got rather stiff for me so needs attention. Then we are off for a journey for my BIL but this one is very local it is Leicester which is about 30 miles away. MEOWEE :~ Right time to clear the tea pots and dishes away so till next time take care  |
HI LADIES ~ well, we had rain all day today, but my gardens, trees, and flowers will be better for it. The last time we were out at the lot, we noticed just how well the trees were doing; some had us concerned, but they are all bouncing back well, and we think that it is all the rain we had this year that is helping.
I did some research on the net and all the varieties we planted are among the top ten fastest growers as are the bushes we just bought last week. We will be taking one up each time and planting it so they can get well-established by fall. If the weather isn't too hot or too wet, we will be going up there this week again. DH took our car to the garage and the alignment went well; the mechanic said it was the worst MIS-alignment he had ever seen (I think it was left too long). We noticed it was wearing on our tires and drifting to the right, so we wanted to get that fixed up pronto. So we are good to go again ... PURPLE ~ hope you have a great trip to Leicester today; and that your treatment goes well for you tomorrow too. I bet it feels good to be more mobile again. My ankle is healing up well now; I have to be so careful these days, it seems that I am pulling this and irritating that ... all kinds of old injuries lately. DH says that it's our age that's causing this. Just something as simple as lifting a basket of laundry and strained some ligaments in my right shoulder (an old injury from years ago). :yikes: Didn't realize things were going to go to pot at this age; but we gotta learn to adjust. I remember my mother telling me how my DAD had a hard time adjusting in his forties; and now DH in his sixties trying to be SUPERMEN and thinking they are still 20 y/o. Well, I guess us ladies have to learn the same lesson; I'm not 30 anymore and now I just have to slow down. Someone said that our bodies are telling us to slow down; now we don't have any choice about it. It's listen or pay with pain and down time ... ANYHOW, we had a good day; just stayed home and did laundry and stuff around here. We had boneless pork centers in a mushroom sauce with new potatoes and carrots for dinner; very nice. I've really never tried GREEK yogurt; not even sure we could get it here becuz we only have one grocery here now, but I'll look for it next time I'm there. HI MEOWEE ~ yah, on really hot days, I try to get everything done in the morning; and then stay indoors for the afternoon with the A/C on, if I can. HI VALDINE ~ hope you had a great time at your friend's wedding and recuperating from that long train ride. I used to take the train down to Toronto and back when I was in school (high school and college), but it wasn't too bad. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK COMING UP!!! Take good care, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi there . . .
Won't drag you down with the details but I am having one of those days -- the kind where absolutely nothing seems to want to go right -- this too will pass; hopefully fairly quickly. :crossed: Hope everybody else is having a good one . . . |
 HELLO LADIES ~ well, it turned out to be pretty hot today, but we went up to the lot in the morning and DH was able to get some blocks in before it got too bad. It was nice that we had some clouds and a little breeze too. We also planted one of our white Spiria bushes beside our girl's garden: we have one for each side of it and that should look really nice.
I spent the day reading, writing letters, doing crosswords, and dishing out the drinks and our picnic lunch. In the morning, I took NIKO for a walk and we did about one and a half turns around the loop. Overall, we had a good day and the drive there and back was lovely. We saw some flowers along the way that looks like an old homestead from years ago and the orange tiger lilies and some tall vibrant blue flowers were all in bloom: so pretty and still growing long after the house is gone. HI MEOWEE ~ sorry things weren't going well for you today; but that means things can only get better, right? Yes ... HELLO PURPLE ~ hope you had a good trip yesterday and that your treatment went well today. Is your DH finished all his training yet? HI VALDINE ~ hope you are having a great week ... Tomorrow, we just stay home and rest; and do things around the house: doing catch-up of laundry and housechores. It's easier on us if we spread things out a bit over the week. We hope we can get one more cooler day to go to the lot, and we have our shopping and errand day near the week's end. That's all the news from here; we just had a light supper becuz it was so hot. I had M/L Super Chicken Dogs (franks that are lower in fat, but yummy) on w/w cut in half and a coleslaw salad; wasn't too bad really. Take good care ladies, your friend :hug:ROSEBUD:hug: |
Hi Ladies
Never have a great deal of time on a Tuesday with it being my treatment day so I did not get round to posting. No Mr Sunshine :sunny: today. This morning is cloudy but it is warm with it too so no need for a cardigan to keep warm. I hate to say it but it need a thunderstorm to clear the air which is muggy and stale. ROSEBUD :~ It is Thursday that I go to Leicester sorry if I stated otherwise or made it misleading. So tomorrow is my trip day but got woke up nice an early today by the council with an automated telephone called from the council reminding me of the repair tomorrow of the bathroom tap! It was nice of them to remind me but not at 8am :D The bathroom tap has become very stiff and difficult for me to use my DH could do it but as it is council property that we rent it is best to leave repairs to them. There are certain things that you are responsible for but others it is the council. Need to put the hoover round soon when I can muster up some energy. That will teach me to go to bed rather late and then get woke up by the council at 8am ;) :nono: Oh that is so true about not listening to our bodies, in our 20's our body is forgiving but if you ignore it afterwards 40+ you pay the price for not doing as your body wishes  . It is hard to slow down and take a slower pace of life. I often want to get X, Y and Z done and the only way I can do all 3 is then to be knocked up for a couple of days ill :faint: . So I have to be content with X and Y and leave Z for another day :D It is not easy as you say making this transition but some make it easier than others. There then seems members of the public or friend we know who are marvellous for there age and seem to live their lives at 100 miles per hour. I know a lady well into her 90's she swims every day, play bowls most days and drives a car (not automatic as most cars here tend to be shift cars). She lives independently in her bungalow and lost her husband a couple of years ago to cancer but he was 93 I think. So that is unusual in itself that a couple both live into their 90's. She was a school teacher for a village school in her working career. Her mind is still has bright as ever and puts mind to shame  . MEOWEE :~ As in a famous song in the UK that goes " Things can only get better" But on a more serious note sorry to here that your not so great so sending my best wishes and hope for s better day soon. VALDINE :~ I hope the wedding went off with out a hitch and secondly that you had a good time. Looking forward to you telling us about the wedding and what you did. I hope you are well and not too tired after your weekend away and that you remain well. I hope your urine infection is all cleared up and is a thing of the past. The IBS ? how are you managing that especially when you are at functions when you are not so in control of the food ? I know how debilitating it can be and it is a balance game walking that narrow wall between food that is fine for you and food that triggers your tummy issues. I had it for years so know what it can be like mostly now I have it sorted but now with my tummy ulcer which as not yet healed up I have that mine field back again but all different foods that triggers the tummy pain and bloating. Right now to get on I am trying to do a low fat recipe from a weight watchers book that my friend gave me. Not that I do the weight watchers "diet" but you know me I am always on the look out for health recipes that are low sugar and low fat they have me interested. I am making an apricot moose today :stir: so fingers crossed :crossed: that it turns out OK. I love dried apricots and have done for years. DH says he does not like apricots but give him his dues he wants to try it :hungry: . It does say that it can be made with other dried fruit such as apples and peaches. Although I must admit I have only seen dried apricots and prunes in a supermarket. I may have to go to a health food store to buy other dried fruit. Lets hope he likes this recipe so then I do not have to go to an expensive store such as a health food store. So time to get a move on and get my self shaking into action so bye ladies and take care till next time :grouphug: |
Very unsettled weather for us today . . . hopefully tomorrow will be bunches better.
My biggest excitement for today has been changing my little vinegar jars to try to entice the nastly little fruit flies to climb on in. I've started keeping all my fruit in the Fridge and I don't like cold fruit -- but I also don't like sharing with these little demons either. Happens every year. They particularly  the Balsamic Vinaigrette I like on my salads, but I don't like sharing with them. Hope everybody else has been having a good day . . . :grouphug: |
