:dizzy: That works for me. I didn't realize there was a new one each month. I'm still pretty new at this and, find I have some trouble moving around and, finding where I should be. Just keep the bread crumbs (fat free) sprinkled and, I'll be right there.

hi trix.
i remember those days! i have a ? for all of you. is anyone on kelp for thyroid? |
Kelp for thyroid. No why? Is that supposed to help, I'll try anything this permanent plateaux I'm on is driving me nuts. The only time I ever heard of kelp was on an old Cheers episode. So please feel free to tell me everything.:?: :?:
|
hi pet,
i know i understand. im on a big plateau evenwith the kelp, but it is supposed to help. i think im losing inches with it too. they say the best is laminaria. i recently discovered one made by solaray. hth. |
:?: Is it in the form of pills, liquid? Where do I get it? Do I have to ask my doctor about it first. Does it affect blood pressure. Do I sound like a little whinner. I feel like Erkel. Thanks for any info.
|
PET,
lol. yes it is a pill& it shouldnt affect BP cuz its just seaweed. i would chk wit doc only if u r on meds 4 thyroid. see, i use it in lieu of meds cuz i cant get any. |
oh yea, u can buy it anwhere solary stuff is sold. gnc, etc. i got mine at totalhealth.com

from the about.com boards:
Q. What About Iodine and Kelp Supplements? While some herbalists and vitamin proponents recommend iodine tablets or kelp supplements (which are high in iodine) for people with thyroid problems, you need to be extremely careful about any decision to take iodine or kelp supplements if you are on thyroid hormone replacement therapy. The thinking behind taking iodine or kelp is that in many parts of the world, goiters and thyroid disease are related to iodine deficiency. In the U.S. and other developed countries, iodine deficiency is not very common anymore, due to the addition of iodine to salt -- iodized salt -- and other food products. In fact, the most common forms of thyroid disease found in the U.S. -- autoimmune thyroid diseases like Graves' Disease or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis -- have nothing to do with iodine deficiency at all. Actually, thyroids are extremely sensitive to iodine, and you need to be careful about adding too much iodine to the diet as it can irritate or aggravate the thyroid. Most doctors say not to worry about some iodized salt, or the iodine present in a food item such as an occasional sushi dinner. But even many prominent alternative doctors such as Andrew Weil and Stephen Langer advise against taking iodine or kelp supplements for people with autoimmune problems. |
 :ink: I guess I'll just have to stay the big :ink: I am because from what I read last night I don't think I can take Kelp. I take too many other meds that just are antagonistic to weight loss. It's just not fair, There has got to be someone out there working on the problems of thyroid and weight loss combined. I get so depressed by all of this. I've been journaling since Jan.1 and I'm only down 4 lbs. This is usually the point where I would just say the heck with it but, I'm determined not to faulter this time and, with all of you helping I know I can stay on track.
|
pet,
i know how you feel hon. i actually gained 1/2 pound since 1-1.& yr right there has to be some solution. im not on meds. |
Don't you just get so tired of knowing your doing everything you can to stay on track and you know your not going over your point range and, still you stay the same, it makes me nuts.. Then God forbid we go out to eat and, you can bet your last dollar I gain 2 lbs that week. I just don't know what else to do. yeah yeah excercise well I do about all I want in the AM either on the cardio glide or my real bike. That's all the excercise Gods are getting out of me.
|
i understand hon& yes i am very frustrated.
|
yes pet, & actually i admit i usually go slightly above the range& 1x week i have pizza cuz im not denyin myself. if u wanna email me [email protected] go ahead. yr not alone hon, i have a few friends goin through the same thing right now too.

|
lol.:D
congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! i read in my research that more than 2000 mg daily can affect the throid production hormone. do u take c? i do cuz i low carb. i was on 3000 til i read that. i cut bk to 2000, though im waitin 4 my current supply to run out b/f i but the 500mg ones. |
i was just wondering what thyroid medication you guys are taking?
i'm using armour, and i haven't noticed a really hard time losing weight. when i eat lots of crap and don't exercise, i do gain, but if i eat healthy stuff and do cardio, i can lose. i just get distracted by life :-) |
I'm on synthroid but, I don't think my doc really knows as much as I need him to on the subject and, I don't know where else to go for this problem.
|

i gained 1/2. 188.1/175.6/125 |
I always feel like I'm going 2 steps forward and 1 step back. But, as long as I get there eventually that's fine with me. I'm learning to live with it. But, it takes sooooooo long:lol:
|
believe me, i hear ya! i just wish that i were taken two steps foward. this is soo frustrating!
|
