Tammy 04-07-2008 06:31 PM

Hope you had fun at the shower!

I started a new class at the Y this morning. It involves some step aerobics, working with weights, boxing. It is set up for all different levels. It was a good workout.

Mima 04-08-2008 05:05 AM

Take it easy, Tammy. Stop before it hurts but it sure sounds like fun.
The shower was nice-the bruch great-of course, my choices were few but I managed some blueberry crisp-hope there weren't any seeds.
Jim has gone for training and the bride is having a hard time. The devil's in the details-Pastor didn't call-florist did and wants ibfo that Jim has -he has training from 6am to 10 pm. She;s hoping he gets home earlier than the 2 weeks. I know it will be hard for her when he's gone.
Got to the chiro-good-and dentist-only sensitivity in that tooth.
Up at 3:30 am-will have to nap before I go to a luncheon. Going to see teacher friends!!!
Hey, my gps wasn't broken-just needed to press button longer.
My bro told me to post the camper in canada on Craig's list. You should but it Anne-than I can meet you. He said they are more expensive there.
Bye for now-Mima-have fun Tammy.

Joanne D 04-08-2008 10:20 AM

Hey There

I have to give Christie a bath 2 times a week with special shampoo for yeast infection. She is still on antibiotics so the yeast is going away easy..She hates the bath. It takes both of us to give it to her..That is a workout..The bathroom is about as wet as she is..as am I.
Tammy -good for you on your exercise program.. I could never do it. Walking is all I can manage..To much oa.
Mima- I bet you will be relieved when this wedding is over..Thank God ,I am only making the pillow for G/sons in June.Weddings are hard work and a lot of stress..
Hello to Meme,Happy...Joanne

Happy Canuk 04-08-2008 10:45 AM

Good morning ladies. You all sound like you have been busy.

Mima - glad you enjoyed the shower. Yes, all vehicles are about 30% higher in Canada. Lots of Canadians go to the USA and bring back motorhomes. I'm sorry, Mima, but I just don't want one. Not a camper, never have been. I do hope you get it sold, however.

Tammy - like Joanne says, good for you on starting this program. I hope it works for you. It is always fun.

Joanne - that puppy sounds like a whole lot of work. I am glad he is yours :D Won't the antibiotics make the yeast worse?? It does in people.

I have been nursing a very bad hip for the past while. The weekend was NOT fun! I think it is weather related, as when it started to dry up, the pain subsided. I hate the ups and downs of Spring weather, as it always = PAIN for me. Once it settles down, it is wonderful.

Hope you all have a good day.

Mima 04-09-2008 05:29 AM

Hi everyone. The bride is missing her fiance because he is training in NJ, And there are so many last minute things, I am si gkad my niece is doing the shower. Thanks for the info about motorhomes, Anne.
Well just when we were going to give the tenant his notice, he said he was leaving next month and would not pay us for the oil, extra electricity etc. He lost his job-never told us that when he ran out of oil. We had to put his heat back on-in good conscience I could never not do that. And we did use a week's woth of oil heating our living room. It's kind of funny, he doesn't understand conservation or heat itself. Some of it is that he is used to celcius but he kept the thermostat on 65-even when he was not here. And he was gone a lot. He also said it was drafty-ok-put something there. And he leaves the shades down all the time so he doesn't get the delicious warmth from the sun, Especially now. I hope that tank of oil doesn't disappear before he does. We certainly do not want to buy anymore. It was a learning experience-we trusted someone before we knew we could trust him. We will change a lot of things before we rent it again.
I went to lunch with some teacher friends-one of them has kidney failure and is on the list for a transplant. And one of them was not there because she has Alzheimers. She's the same age as me-I went to college with her. Sad. But it sure was nice to see them.
It's going to be warm today. And tomorrow. And I am getting cut, frosted and have my eyebrows done.
How was the class, Tammy?
Dogs do not like a bath. I can relate to the water all over the place, Joanne.
Waking up early again. I need to walk everyday, Mima

Happy Canuk 04-09-2008 10:52 AM

Good morning Mima. Of course she misses him! If would be terrible if she DIDN'T  Will he be having to go to Iraq? I sure hope not. Hope the haircut turns out good. I had one last Thursday, along with a color. Feels so good. My hair is thick and grows so darn fast!

Now about that heat. Yes, we use celcius, but because I am old, I convert it back into Farenheit! I keep my thermostat at 21 degree or around 72F. We don't buy Oil for heating, we use natural gas, and perhaps this fellow is used to that as well. We pay a monthly bill for the gas we use, but we don't physically have to put it into the tank. It becomes something we just take for granted. I HATE to be cold, but even more, I hate the dampness because it makes me hurt. I, also, don't like the heat in the floor, because it makes all my joints hurt.

Today, is an ugly kind of day, so far. It is so foggy out. Of course, it isn't even 9:00 a.m. so it will probably burn off in a bit.

Enjoy the day, ladies.

Joanne D 04-09-2008 10:55 AM

Hey There

Happy- Christie had the yeast infection before I started her on antibiotics.. She also had what the vet said was acne..He said small dogs get it just like teenagers.. He gave me a shampoo to bathe her 2 times a week..for the yeast. I know it won't go away untill the antiobotics are done.. If not then ,back to the vet..This dog has been a big expense.
Mima- With renters ,I guess you win some and lose some. My son had four rental properties.. He got rid of them.. Too much trouble and stress. One even made a pot grow house out of a nice house he had..When he found out he called the cops. Guess what ,They did nothing..He finally got rid of the whole mess. I don't think I sleep more than an hour each night that I am not awake.. I am in the B/r almost every hour. The Dr. said it was my diabeties causing it.No fun. I seem to be always tired.
Hey Tammy.. How is the exercise going. My G/son told me he and his g/friend are starting nurtrusystem today. I hope something workks. They are both very overweight.I worry about the G/son. His parents are very upset he has let himself get into this weight problem..
Hello Meme.. Where are you.. Taxes?
Joanne

MemeToo 04-10-2008 02:19 AM

Yep ... you-all know I always lock myself away with my 'books' at this time of year, took me 3 weeks but I got them done and to the CPA. He asked us last year if we could get them in a little earlier this year ... bless his heart. We dumped them on him at the last possible minute last year. I picked them up today. We only owe $489. Yippee!!! Then, Mon. hubby's mom (87 yr. old) was outside sawing on a tree limb of all things and passed out. His dad got her over to the riding mower and was holding her there when a man passed by and saw them & stopped to help. They called 911 and got an ambulance. I'm right down the road but he didn't think to call me until he was at the hospital. He said he panicked and couldn't think of anything. They kept her overnight but didn't find anything. Dr. said she probably just overexerted herself. His dad will be 90 this Sun. We are having a surprise BD party/cookout here ... 18 people. I have let everything go, working on the books ... now it's reckoning time! I had the week planned out, a room a day. Then I had to spend Mon. at the hospital and most of today in town getting BD supplies and taking the dog so now I'm 2 days behind. One good thing came of his mom's little episode, it has 'scared' them into using the cell phone we bought them for Christmas. They had been leaving it turned off and in the house except when they wanted to make a long distance call. Now they SAY they are going to start taking it with them outside and when they go anywhere. I hope they mean it ... I worry about them. Three weeks ago she was out picking up cans out of the ditch and fell by the road and couldn't get up. A man was driving by and stopped and helped her. She could have fallen into the road and been hit. She's like a kid, doesn't think and very reckless. Doesn't listen, either. She's going to do what she wants to do.

I haven't caught up on what you all have been writing. I did see where Joanne has to give Christie a bath twice a week. If I had to bathe Ginger that often it would kill me. It takes forever to dry her hair. I took her to the groomer today ... FIFTY dollars. Can't afford that too often. Have you taught her any tricks yet? I taught Ginger to sit and I'm working on 'dead'. She almost has it.

Mima, how close is the wedding now? I've lost track.

And I read that Tammy is taking an exercise class. You go girl. As soon as this party is over, I'm going to start doing something. Probably walking first. Then I'll add something else if that goes ok. I'm going to go slow. I can't wait to get outside. We bought another patio set. We can sit 14 on our deck now so I want to do some entertaining this summer. We have lots of family and even more friends. I'm feeling better so it should be a fun summer now that hubby is on days.

And Anne ... you're not OLD! Where did THAT come from??? ;)

Did I miss anything important on one of the other pages? One of you didn't have a baby or anything while I was away did you? :p

Mima 04-10-2008 05:08 AM

So good to hear fro, you Meme.
The wedding is April 26 and the shower is this Sunday.
I keep waking up at 3:30. started walking again and am doing WW, I know it's different than it used to be, I only ate 2 cookies yesterday and 7 mini rice cakes for sugar. I did have some pasta. The point is I think I don't hurt as much.
My hair came out great, The guest list came out to 142 and 7 are children. I tod Suzanne I would pay for 150 so she will have some extra money to put toward expenses or save it.
We owe over 2000. I am glad Brad is going to work when he gets his insurance. They are giving him a hard time.
We are getting our propane hooked up today.
Anne-if we kept our thermostat at 72. we would go broke. Heating oil is almost 4 a gallon. We keep it at 65. But today it's going to be very warm. But the get cooler again.
Gotta do bookwork today. Auntie is getting a bone marrow test today. Sure hope they start treating her anemia-she is getting weaker and weaker. I am not happy with the way they are doing things. But who am I?
How were the exercises Tammy? Bye Mima

Tammy 04-10-2008 09:03 PM

The aerobics class that I'm doing is fun. I am doing it at my own pace. She has a part where she is doing deep squats, I barely bend my knees on that one. She encourages everyone to work at his or her own level. It's a good thing because there are times that I can't keep up with everyone. I'll be starting water aerobics next week. The aerobics class was set up for people with 25 or more pounds to lose. They did a fitness assessment last week, and we will do it again the end of June. Hopefully I will have made some improvement!!

Joanne, I chuckled about giving Christie the bath. I don't know if Kramer liked them or not, but he usually just stood there and let us soap him down and rinse him off. Oh, he did drink the water sometimes. lol I just received a brochure in the mail from Nutrisystem. I think I'll keep trying on my own while I'm doing these classes. Trying to help Bob eat healthier is making me more conscious too.

Anne, I agree about the weather and the pain. I can tell that it has been raining tonight, and it's supposed to continue for the next few days. My hair grew so fast when we were in Georgia. I didn't expect to get it cut so quickly when we were there.

Mima, I can't believe the guy you rented to! What a twit! Glad you were able to have lunch with your friends.

Meme, good to hear from you!! How scary for your inlaws! I do hope they use that phone. Hey, your deck sounds big enough to hold all of us!!!! Woo hoo!! Party!!!! I plan to be doing walking on the days that I don't have class. I need to get Bob out of the house, so maybe we can start walking when the weather is warmer for him. He still chills so easily. LOL No babies from me!!! I started TOM over the weekend. That's the first one since the beginning of December. I thought for sure that it was menopause. I was bummed when I started getting cramps. Too much information??

I volunteered answering phones yesterday, today, and tomorrow morning at the Christian radio station again for their fundraiser. I enjoy myself while doing it. Gave blood today. I was rejected in March and another time in April because my iron level was too low. I've been taking Iron supplements and eating food with iron in it, so today I was able to give.

Behave everyone!!

Mima 04-11-2008 05:07 AM

Hi all, So glad you like the class Tammy. My hair grew like weeds in FL and also would go staright after I curled it so I got a perm, Now it's fine.
Suzanne sent me pics of her gown-she has to have it altered and it was too tight before. It is gorgeous.
Got the almost final count. Jessica went to live with her mother. I haven't been able to talk to her, I think all her money wound up in a joint checking acct.
I can't sleep beyond 3:30/ too much stress and I can't do anything about anything. Glad we are going to Bible study tonight, Talked to Angela and she is still home-due next week.
Bye for now-Mima

Tammy 04-11-2008 10:53 PM

Mima, glad my hair isn't the only one that grows fast when in the south! I used to get perms all the time, but I haven't had one for a while. I am keeping it pretty short now, and I'm liking it much better. I've had trouble sleeping too. I might be getting 3-4 hours a night. Not sure why.

The radio station didn't meet their goal, so they are doing another day of fundraising on Tuesday. I need to give them a call and see if they want me to come over and answer phones.

Tomorrow one of the women's groups at church is having a tea. One of my friends invited me to sit with her and her daughters. I'm sure we'll have a good time.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Mima 04-12-2008 06:07 AM

Going to a tea is fun!! We had a really nice one at chirch in FL.
I was praying the serenity prayer this am-I also can't sleep.
Our neighbor has lung cancer and needs to find out if they can do surgery. She decided to stay in FL-doesn't trust the docs back home-one had given her the wrong test, Auntie had the bone marrow test but won't know for at least 10 days,
Our Bible study was on empathy-really good and nice to get back to the group. So many prayer needs. I will have them here on 5/9.
Mike will be here next Sat, night, I worked hard yesterday-lots of energy from not eating all the time!!! I lost 2 lbs but wasn't good last night.
Raining hard but next week will be better,
I think I will get my nails done for the shower tomorrow,
How's the weather in Canada? Hi Joanne, Meme, Anne and Tammy. Mima

Tammy 04-12-2008 04:54 PM

Mima, the tea was really fun! Each hostess had her table decorated in a certain theme. My hostess lives on a dairy farm. Our theme was cows. We all wore jeans, and we were probably the most comfortable women there. There was a special table for pre-school girls and one for the elementary girls. All of those girls got to go upstairs and be "decked out" by some beauticians from the area and the junior high girls. They had their hair done up with ribbons, feather boas, crowns, etc. Then they came back down and did a fashion show. It was adorable!

Good for you on losing 2 pounds. I weighed this morning, and I am the same! It thought with doing the classes and really watching, I would have lost a pound, but no deal.

Joanne D 04-12-2008 07:10 PM

Hey There

Tammy- The only way I can lose is by measuring and weighing about every bite I put in my mouth. I have been doing the 123 WW point system for the past couple weeks. I lost 3 3/4 lbs last week. We will see how this week goes..I am only walking 20-30 min. a day. that isn't enough..I need motivation to do more.. Keep up the trying. You will see results.
Christie is starting to tolerate her bath. Just giving it 2 times a week is hard . After we finish the antibiotics and then get rid of the yeast infection we will not have to do that but maybe once or twice a month.
Mima- I am working on the pillow for the G/Sons wedding/ The beading is taking forever..
Meme- Teaching Christie tricks is not on the agenda. First I have to get her to stop pulling my arm out of joint when she sees a person on a bike, big trucks, motor bike etc.Otherwise she is a nice dog.I am 75 and I won't saw a tree limb.. I do what I can. My hubby is not able to do much .Now and then he will start the mower to do the front yard. That takes him 2 days. Anyone else can do it in 30 min. He won't let me hire anyone as the last person almost scraped all the grass off the yard. Cut too short. The back has only been cut once this year..I could do it but he won't start the mower for me.. I just as well give up. HE IS GREEK!!!
Happy- Yes the antibiotics does make the yeast worse. Right now we are just trying to control it.. It doesn't seem to bother her as much as it does me.. It will be back to the vet if after the antibiotics are done and it doesn't go away.
