Mima 11-28-2007 05:11 AM

Hi there! We all have had fibro for so long that we don't particularly talk about it but we sure have info. So just ask!!!! And welcome.
I am so happy-called a different insurance co. for the mobile home and we saved $400 and got a better policy. That's def. a PTL because I have been praying about our finances-we spent lots of Brad's business income on the apt
and there is not as much left-but I can move things around-and then there's the wedding!!!
Evan is coming today-a woman across the road takes care of her great grandaughter so they may have a playdate.
I think I am eating too much sugar-have to break that cycle. Still taking probiotics and still have been relatively good.
I can't do my Christmas shopping til after the 8th-too much on this credit card. I am itching!!!
How is everyone doing?
Bye for now-Mima

Happy Canuk 11-28-2007 12:40 PM

Hi Tamely, welcome. If you have any questions just ask, and between us we may come up with an answer for you :)

Mima - sound like you and Evan will have a good time. A play date is always nice.

I am sorry, I can't remember anything anybody said. I am having a fibro flare, plus the OA is acting up big time. I have had the stomach flu since Monday and still have it today, although it has changed direction. I just feel terrible and hurt everywhere from laying in bed. That is surely NOT the answer for people with OA and FM. I feel like I have a knife jammed into my lower spine and also into my left hip.

Meme - I did remember you being lonely. Sit down and talk to your hubby and let him know. Having time for everybody else is fine, but home should come first. You are in need of some TLC.

Hi Tammy and Joanne. Hope you are both well.

Gotta run, and I mean run:o

MemeToo 11-28-2007 03:12 PM

I have had THAT talk with my husband too many times to count. He's sympathetic for a day or two and then it goes right back to "The Way We Were." What's the point. I had a talk with my daughter today. She just got her own place last month (massage therapy) and is having a little trouble getting regular customers ... may be the time of year it is. She only has 8 regulars so far. She needs money for expenses so I told her if she'd come over 2 afternoons next week and help me clean and decorate I'd pay her. We work really well together. She said she'd be glad to help me out (& of course I'll be glad to help her out!) I'm going to have hubby put my tree up Mon. then Tues. afternoon we'll decorate it. She also said she'd put my Christmas village up for me ... I love looking at it but I always dread putting it up. When I got off the phone with her, I went in the kitchen and told hubby what I did, then I told him HE was going to pay her. He just looked at me for a minute then he said OK. Guess he knew better than to cross me right then. :p Then, after he said OK, I waited a few seconds and told him ... then after Christmas is over I'll have her come back and help me take it all down and you can pay her for that, too! :D He didn't say a word!!! Guess I have a way with words 'cause I think he was speechless for once. ;)

I'm so tired and mostly from doing everything myself. He was getting all over me yesterday for letting the bankbook go so long. I came home and started on it, I worked on it all afternoon and I'm still not finished. I will have to work on it all afternoon again today and I have washing stacked up to my knees in the basement I'm trying to take care of. Like Anne, I'm hurting so bad I can't move anything without excruciating pain somewhere. I was hoping when it stopped raining that would ease up but no such luck. I have church tonight at 6:30 and praise team practice tomorrow evening at 5. Daughter is wanting me to come in for a massage ... I may do that tomorrow afternoon.

Hope you're feeling better, Anne. I know exactly what you're going through and it's no fun. Especially the memory part. Can't remember my name some days. Wish I could forget I have fibro!!!: p

Tammy 11-29-2007 04:22 AM

Meme, I think that's great that you and your daughter can help each other out. And having hubby pay for the help is a good idea!!!!

Joanne, glad that your son's stepson was able to work in your yard and help get things done for you.

Mima, $79 each way to Jamaica doesn't sound like a bad deal at all! You really lucked out on the insurance!!

Tamely, welcome to the group!!! Ask questions, and we'll be glad to answer the best that we can. As you can see, we talk about many things, and we've been doing that for quite a while. Jump right in, and let us get to know you.

Anne, we all must be into the fibro flares right now. With you having the flu on top of that, you have to be feeling terrible! I hope that you are feeling better soon.

I was in and out doing things on Tuesday. When I came home that afternoon, Bob had done a couple loads of laundry. Last night when I came home from the Y, he had just started another load. He really does help out around here, and I probably don't show my appreciation as much as I should.

Today we go back to the liver specialist for biopsy results. Hubby has decided that the news is going to be bad, but I'm staying positive that things are ok.

Mima 11-29-2007 04:23 AM

Hi guys-Anne so sorry you are not well-hope you feel better really quick. And Meme-go for that massage. It helps your immune system.Besides the muscles.
My hairdresser has retired-hope I ca get a new one. I have funny hair-very straight and fine so I need someone good.
I have a UTI-luckily I have some meds for that prescribed by my urologist-I suppose I should go see him.
Wenr to church supper-Our church lowered its budget by 20%=putting off the new building-donations are off. We don't have to lowere ours but we probably won't increase it.
Evan was here a long time-the little girl that he was supposed to play with was sick. Next week.We probably should take him home at noon. I get too tired. Then again, she may get the job at the airport.
He is going to be the ring bearer for Suzanne-he said that that will be tricky but I told him that he would be walking in front of his Dad-The 2 boys are giving her away-Her dad died in 2000 but the she used to worry about him coming to her wedding because he drank-the things you worry about probably will not happen.
I better go drink some water, mima

Tammy 11-29-2007 03:41 PM

Mima, I've had the same hairdresser for 20 years. I hope she never retires!!
Hope the UTI clears up for you. That's neat about Evan being the ring bearer.

Great results from liver specialist about hubby. NO CANCER! Also checked some other things, and those results were also negative. Big relief!!

Happy Canuk 11-29-2007 04:39 PM

:cp: :cp: Tammy, that is wonderful news. I will bet both of you are so relieved. That must be the best Christmas Gift in the world! even if it is a little early:)

Mima - a change is sometimes good. I also have problems with getting someone who knows how to cut thick hair, no curl, but really good body. If I get the right cut, I am away, if not I struggle with it until the next cut. The gal I have now took over from my old hairdresser, who I really liked. To get a good change though, you sometimes have to change hairdressers (for a new look)

Good price on the tickets to Jamaica. Little Evan will make a cute ring bearer.

You with your UTI's and me with the yeast. Same problem - need to take Probiotics, although some say Prebiotics work better (as far as I can tell that is fiber).

Meme - Glad you and your daughter can help each other out. I would also have hubby pay for some massages for you, after you do all the work:carrot: The rain makes anybody feel poorly. I hope you feel better today. Sunshine helps a lot as well.

Joanne - where ARE you?? Glad you had help with the yard. Hope he came back and did some more.

My exciting life led me to the ER last night. Hubby was out of town (5 hrs away) and my heart went into AFIB. I left it until 1:00 a.m., called a cab, rode for 1.5 blocks and got out at ER ( I live right across the road from the hospital, but it was dark, cold, and I felt terrible). They kept me there until 9:00 a.m. this morning and I walked home. Had two bags of interveinous and gravel. They said my body wasn't absorbing the meds, because of the vomiting and diarrhea, and that the heart would probably do this for a few more days. Apparently this virus can last anywhere from 24 hrs. to 2 weeks:dizzy: I have to stay on a bland diet for 2 weeks:dust: On the upside, I have lost 6 pounds this week:)

Hope you all have a good day.

Mima 11-30-2007 06:16 AM

Wow Anne-that was an exciting journey-glad everything turned out ok. I think lots of people have that same kind of trouble. Brad's friend Eddie often has to go in for adjustments.
I am better but the med is making me sick and tired, But it doesn't affect yeast like the others. Anne, I take bifidum on a daily basis to prevent yeast and it seems to be working.
It doesn't loook good for Jamaica-I called a couple of people that told me they wanted to go and now they can't. That will give me 2,000 that I can use for other things. But Isaac will be disappointed.
We can go do Mission work locally. Love to do Mission work. If you ever need to be grateful for what you have, that will do it.
Oh Tammy, that is so awesome about Bob-what a weight off your shoulders.
Mike wanted me to babysit but I told him no-3 days is too much. Once I take my med, I will probably lose my energy.
Bye for now-Mima

Tammy 11-30-2007 02:41 PM

I agree about the news being a wonderful Christmas present!! Bob's niece said the same thing last night. Her dad (Bob's brother) died from cancer about 25 years ago.

Anne, I hope you are soon feeling better!!! What a scare for you! 6 pounds gone is a real plus though, right?

Mima, I know how I feel after working in the soup kitchen. It sure makes a person appreciate things, that's for sure.

I went for my yearly checkup this morning, and now I need to call for a mammogram for January. My doctor was acting silly when he came in. I've gone to him for 20+ years. He told me that I was back to my old self. He had been worried about me the past few years because of the stress from the job, and he said today he was thrilled to see me looking so good! lol

Hello to everyone!
Tim will be here in an hour or so. He and his new girlfriend will be here for the weekend.

Razz44 12-01-2007 12:57 AM

I have some questions that I was hoping some of you with fibromyalgia may be able to help answer. I don't think I have fibro but I have a lot of the symptoms that are associated with it, so I was curious if those of you who have been diagnosed with it may know of or maybe were tested for other conditions that are similar to it. I know its probably best if I go to a doctor, but I recently moved, my schedule has been pretty hectic, etc, so I have been putting it off.

But anyway, I don't believe I have fibro b/c I wouldn't really say I have any kind of severe pain, and I don't think I'd have the "tender points" needed for a fibro diagnosis, but I have been experiencing a lot of the other symptoms. I been incredibly tired/fatigued lately. Almost everyday my the mid-afternoon I feel so tired I could fall asleep. And I have experienced a lot of muscle stiffness/fatigue/pain. I wouldn't say the pain itself is severe, but I wake up quite stiff and it seems to last all day, especially in my neck/back. And whenever I do exert my muscles to a certain extent, walking up the stairs, carrying something somewhat heavy, etc my muscles feel extremely weak afterwards. And among other things I've also been experiencing headaches, digestive problems, lightheadness, temp sensitivity, concentration issue, legs/arms "falling asleep".

I know you guys aren't doctors, and I probably should go see one, but does anyone have any ideas of what these symptoms may be related to? I've done a little bit of research and found that it could be thyroid or adrenal conditions or low BP etc, but I don't really know.

Mima 12-01-2007 04:37 AM

Hi!!! Fibro people deinitely have the trigger points-if you press anywhere on my body-it hurts.
That let down in the pm leads me to wonder how much sugar you eat. That can give you lows after a while. And it can cause muscle pain. Low thyroid makes you tired. How much exercise do you get.?
I would go to a rheumotologist for a diagnosis. There are so many forms of arthritis. If you have fibro, there are so many things that you can do or take to help you. I was so fortunate that my doc knew what I had 25 years ago and sent me to a rheumotologist. My pain was excruciating at the time and now it's so manageable.
Alison is taking the SAT's today. Please pray for her. We went to the registry yesterday and we replaced my license and the trailer registration-both of which we lost,
I see a storm coming in the Northeast-and we haven't got the Weather channel-have to call Comcast!!! We like to know what we are missing.Sorry!!
Let us know what the new girl is like, Tammy.
Have a great weekend. Mima

Eliza62 12-01-2007 07:33 PM

Hi...I'm new

My name is Eliza. I'll be 45 the day after Christmas :0) I have fibro and gained a ton of weight due to the meds they've been trying on me. I'm starting the 3-hour diet next week. I ordered the book from the library and can't wait to pick it up. Is anyone else trying that diet? I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks, me.

Tammy 12-01-2007 09:23 PM

Razz, before I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, my family doctor ran many tests for so many different things. I honestly don't remember them all - lupus, MS .
He finally referred me to a rheumatologist, and she diagnosed me the first visit because of the trigger points. She did rerun some of the tests that had already been run because I was borderline on a couple of the tests. I knew next to nothing about fibro at that time.

I would definitely advise you to go to a doctor, a rheumatologist would be your best bet.

Mima, we had rain with sleet earlier this afternoon. I am NOT ready for winter!! Let us know how Alison does on the SAT!!

Tim's new girlfriend is very sweet. Outgoing, a bit of a tomboy if there still is such a thing. They are so funny together. She seems very comfortable around us, and I feel the same with her. They've only known each other since band camp in August. I told Tim that I hope they aren't rushing into anything.

Eliza, I am 52, so I'm a bit older than you. I lost weight like crazy right before I was diagnosed, then after starting on meds, I also gained quite a bit. Not fun at all. I really don't know anything about that diet. Could you give me some information on it?? I see you are south of Chicago. A bit nippy there, I'm sure!

Went to a surprise 60th b-day party tonight for my friend's husband. He was totally shocked! It was so much fun!!! he kept talking about paybacks. lol

Mima 12-02-2007 04:44 AM

Hi guys!!! That party sounds like fun, Tammy. We are going to lunch with friends who don't get up early so we are going later today-9:00. I will ask in SS about Jamaica but there is writing on the wall.
Put up some lights-imagine 80 and in shorts!!! At home, they will get that sleet tomorrow.
Did anyone see Radio City Music Hall show last night. We went to that so many times with my mother and SIL-brought back some memories!!!
It will be in the 70's next week!!! yeah,
Bye for now-Mima ps-I don't diet because there are so many foods I can't eat, but I try to get in exercise.

Eliza62 12-02-2007 04:33 PM

Hi Tammy, the 3-hour diet is just as it sounds :0) You eat 200 calories every three hours and 400 for dinner. The snack before bed is only 50 calories though because you never want to eat too close to bed. A few of the personal trainers from the club I work at are doing it and it's awesome because it levels your metabolism and speeds it up. I also totally cut pop out of my day, there are 16 teaspoons of sugar in one regular coke!

Yesterday we had an ice storm...it was sooo slippery and cold. Today it's in the low 40's a raining...yuck...I hurt but who doesn't right :0) I'll just take my flexiril and a hot bath and snuggle up.
