Looooovvvveeee it!!! I have been on it for 3 years and I can't imagine doing anything else. $50 is a lot of money, but I would say try it. I too was a forgetful pill taker and was dealing with monthy migraines during TOM. Talked to my gyno and she recommended that I do this and then a year later we talked again, and now I don't take the week break every month. Sooo, I am on it for 3 straight months and then take a week off. Consequently, I only have 4 periods a year and usually only 4 migraines too. Yipee! The patch is sooo much easier for me to remember and to use. I had a little break thru bleeding in the beginning, as my body adjusted, but now... pretty much smooth sailing. It works just like the nicotine patches.... just puts a little hormone in your body throughout the month.

Another alternative is the nuva ring (used to work in reproductive health so I know lots!!). This is a silicone ring that you place inside the vagina and leave it there for a month. Then at the end of the month, take it out, have a period and replace with a new one. Even easier. Thought I would do that, but I just never got around to trying it and I have been happy with the patch so....

Tough decisions to make, costly too, but hopefully this helps! Go ahead and PM me if you have any more questions!

I had bad side effects with it, but I have had those same side effects with any pill that contains estrogen. My concern is that your doctor is not doing anything about the cyst except putting you on birth control. Did she say anything about having it removed and doing a biopsy? I had an ovarian cyst removed last year and it was benign. My doc said in most cases, they are. But since I have other health problems, he thought it best to remove it and do the biopsy.

yes...she is going to keep a watch out on it...i have an appointment in 6 weeks to go back so that she can relook at the cyst....she said that if it hadnt decreased in size...or had gotton bigger we would act then....which is fine....anythig to get out of surgery...even though i know its no big deal...just 20 min and its finished....id rather give it a lil time to see if we can get this thing whooped.....without surgery.....im only 20 years old...just got out on my own...and takin off work for me is not an option...but we will see....i know i have to do what it takes to keep my body healthy....she did however reduce my gym time...and excercise routine to no stomach crunches.....only light pace walking......and no weights untill we see how this thing is going to turn......but thanks to both of you 2 for your advice!!! And I really appreciate it!!!:D

I hope it ends up taking care of itself and all that is unnecessary. I didn't have time to take off of work when I had mine removed, but it had to be done :( Good luck!

I'm going through the same thing right now. My doctor is doing another ultra sound to check on the size of not one but two cysts. I have one on each ovary. He doesn't want to operate if he doesn't have to and has suggested I use bc too. I suffer from aura migraines so that limits the type of bc that I can go on. He suggested the mirena iud which has a low dose of progesterone and the nuva ring which has a low dose of both progesterone and estrogen. I've decided to try the nuva ring because I use to be on micronor which is a low dose progesterone pill that they usually use for breastfeeding mothers. The pill gave me migraines that would knock me out for hours and linger for a few days. So I decided to go on the nuva ring. I just need to call him on Monday to let him know.

I used the patch and only had mild skin irritation-- I LOVED it, except for those freaky little squares of eczema it gave me (but I have SUPER sensitive skin).
I also used the NuvaRing-- and it worked ok for about 3 months, and then my body just didn't like it anymore-- it was constant anger, constipation, I wad freaked out a LOT (I was not a fun cookie to live with!!!:O)

One of my girlfriends had a cyst the size of a grapefruit on her right ovary when we were 14-- She had to get it removed because it was messing with her internal system. I'm glad your doc caught yours early so you can keep an eye on it!!!

Good luck!
