panic attacks and dieting

Hi Cassie99,

welcome! Though I can't speak for others, I can say that a lot of the people on this thread have anxiety disorders and do experience panic attacks. There are many types of anxiety disorders, SAD, OCD, etc., and people here haven't all "fessed up" what exactly their problem is. Seeing as how it's for anxiety problems, nobody has demanded such. Whether anxiety disorders include "true panic disorder" I don't know, but I do know what a panic attack is like. It's not fun.

Hope this thread can help you.

 Hi All. Been updating on the post. Good going all of you!! All the exercising and weight watching. That is great!!

Haven't posted in awhile because things have not been going too well. When I read how well the rest of you are doing it helps. Just haven't been able to write until now.:(

The aniexty is getting the better of me again. Not too mention the depression. I think that is even worse:cry: Have been able to hide it from family and friends but that is getting harder and harder. I work 12 to 16 hour days, 6 to 7 days a week. I'm sure that is not helping. Although, I don't think that is all of it. I'm almost to the same place as I was when I first started posting here. You all helped me so very much. I feel I can be honest with you. Isn't that funny. People we've never even met in person and yet I feel you can understand and help with this. There is a bond.

I spend most my time trying to hide the depression, which is causing the panic to be worse. :( I haven't been able to go to the doctor because the insurance won't pay for any more visits until next year. Just can't afford it otherwise.

Then there's the darn eating!!!! Not like I can afford to gain anymore weight. I have over 100 lbs now to lose. When I was feeling better, was losing weight and exercising. Now both seem so far away.

I'm sorry to be a downer. Just wanted to talk, I guess.

Please have a peacefilled holiday.

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas,

I had not been getting emails to any new activity on our thread, then I remembered I had to recover my computer so it wiped out all my info. Now I am back on track. I missed you guys.

jennifa, I don't live by any kind of water, but I love the beach. We only have the great lakes, they are like the ocean kinda but no wonderful beach and on the positive side no salt water. That link you posted was too funny, I laughed so hard. Thanks for thinking of us.

Mygirl, hope you got all your shopping done and wrapped. I still have a few last minute things to take care of. I am in good shape over all. How is the exercising going? I been doing ok eating but still not exercising. I am going to officially start after the new year. Sorry your anxiety reared it's ulgy head, I had a small set back as well. You know we are doing so much better than we did 6 months ago, we just need to keep in mind how far we have come.

Cassie99, welcome to our site, you will find a lot of support for whatever anxiety you have. We have all suffered various forms of anxiety and to various degrees, just jump right in with us. We are not just using the term panic although I wish we were LOL.

Janney, sorry things aren't going well for you now, you just hang in there and things will get better. Remember you pulled yourself up before and you will do it again. We just have to keep working at it and never give up. The new year is right around the cornor and you will have more health coverage.

Hope all of us have a peaceful and wonderful holiday.

Daytona

Hey all,

Howza bouta new thread?

I wish you all some peace and forgetfulness about anxiety this holiday.

Meanwhile, here's something to get all riled up about: mental health insurance parity. Many anxiety disorders are biologically based and were covered as any other illness under the 1996 Mental Health Parity Act. Unfortunately, this act expired on October 1. The House defeated a full parity bill last week. What does this mean? It means we might be back at 50% coverage if something doesn't happen soon. We have a year of extended parity.

Check out http://www.nami.org/update/20011219.htm for more information on this issue. It's important.

Janney, I hope you feel better soon. Please know you are not alone. Keep exercising - it is one of the best things you can do and it will help the depression. You can do it - we believe in you!

(((hugs)))

MyGirl, Daytona, and Cassie99, hope you all hang in there over the holidays. Just think, soon it will be January 2 and our lives will be somewhat closer to sane again!! Let's try to enjoy the holidays and let ourselves be happily surprised.

Happy Holidays!!!

Jennifa
