DH won't eat home made gravy, that's why I never learned how to make it. Why bother. I like the drippings mixed in the mushroom soup but he won't even try it.He loves, canned gravy or even the powder you mix with water.

We like fresh mushrooms but we also like canned depending what we're using them for. I think the mushrooms at Texas Roadhouse are portabello. DH likes them but would not eat Portobello if I bought them.

I overate yesterday so I don't want to weigh. I feel fat. I did perfect the first half of the day and did good at dinner but I got stressed out later and stress ate.

Last night we had the loudest thunderstorm I ever heard. Storms don't usually wake me up but this one sure did. I fell back to sleep with 1/2 Benedryl.

I bought strips for my old meter. I'm wondering if my sudden better blood sugar is due to the new meter. If there's a big difference I don't know how I will know which is right. No doctor appointment until Dec. I will be very disappointed if the new lower numbers are wrong.

Yay!! I did a test with both meters using blood from the same finger stick. Old one was 124 the new one 129. That's a match as far as I'm concerned. So the lower readings I'm getting now are correct. Wish I could say the same for the scale.

Carol Sue it is good to know that the new meter is reading the same as the old. I wondered about that.

I got hungry last night too and ate a couple of stalks of celery with a small amount of peanut butter. That was probably because I didn't drink the protein shake. Weight was 184.2 this morning up 1.2 lbs, but I think this is just my body adjusting to high fiber. I expect it to settle down. I really want to adjust things with this added fiber because my FBG was 96 making it 3 days in a row that it was under 100.

I've hot dogs planned for today and I will thaw the ribs I have in the freezer over night so we can have half of it for our 4th celebration but we will have it tomorrow instead of Monday. I know that the protein is important but I really want to get back to 2M days. May try to make that my project this next week. The times may not be consistent because sometimes I don't want breakfast/brunch. My problem yesterday was I ate to get the 3 meals in and I don't want to fall back into eating by the clock. The 3ish meal will always be, but the 2nd meal needs to be just when I am hungry not to reach a # of calories etc.

Hope every body has a safe, fun 4th weekend.

Trish, now I'm hungry for celery but I like it with cream cheese instead of peanut butter.

I did get on the scale and I'm up .6 to 187.6. It was after I ate.

DH wants to go to the casino today. I said ok because there's something I want to buy and I want him to be ok with it. He never tells me no, but I run it by him when its something costly. I know we have the money because I'm the banker. He does not realize he's being manipulated.

Carol Sue, I do the same thing with DH. I know more about our finances than he does.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was a flop; an off day. Everything changed including my meal plan. When I did our pills for next week, I found that we didn't have one of DH meds. What I thought was it, was another one of his meds and because I thought it was the 3rd month of the med. I didn't even have the old bottle to call it in so I called the pharmacy and told them the situation and we had to get the refill. So I did my Tuesday shopping today and we got McDs burgers. For some reason I have been hungry all day. I probably won't weigh tomorrow. But I will do my best to get back OP tomorrow.

Trish,,can you put DHs meds on auto fill and have them notify you when they are ready? I do that and I always have them on time. Just a suggestion.

I ended up wth 1187 cals and 50 gram of carb.

Scale shocked me this morning. 185.4 down from 187.4. I must have been retaining major fluid.

At 6 am I woke up with a horrible cramp in my right foot/ankle. I got up and tried walking on it, didn't help. I went back to bed. I took half a Benedryl and fell back to sleep til 9. Still had the cramp. Finally went away at10:30. I don't know what to do to prevent it from coming back. Salt, maybe? I don't have any pickles or juice. I usually eat a couple pretzels before bed for the salt. Its just a habit but I didn't eat them last night. Maybe I need that salt. Did the lack of salt cause the scale drop? I know I often get dehydrated. DH has a list started for Walmart. It will be horrible the day before the 4 th. All I need is hot dog buns and corn. He needs Wal-Mart for the bread, pancake mix, etc. I guess if I have to go I have to go!

Carol Sue, I was surprised that our local store wasn't busier than it was yesterday. Of course, Walmart may have been a different story.

I actually thought I had DH on auto refill, but evidently not. I need to go on line and see if I can do it there. They have a online, pharmacy and can even pay in advance. However some of his meds are zero pay.

Congrats on the loss. Any loss is a loss. My weight was back down to 183.6 today. My FBG was 97. So whatever is going on with my body during this seemingly stall is good. Now I need to figure out how to bring all this together to get the scale moving again. I've decided to eat when hungry not by the clock. So far this morning, I haven't been hungry. I've decided to cook half the baby back ribs and take a can of navy beans and drain them and add sugar free BBQ sauce to the bean since we can't have baked beans and that will be my fiber. We will have our salad as well.

Is it going to be just you and DH for the 4th or are y'all getting with y'all's kids?

Have a good day.

No get together for the holiday. Just us. Wal-Mart was busy but not too bad but it was 10:30. We got a watermelon. Sign said was $6.88 now $4.48. We went to self check out but could not find watermelon on the register screen. The guy came to help and said its under M for melon. But it rang up $7.99 so we had to call him back. DH loves watermelon. It spikes my blood sugar.

I have not been taking Tart Cherry so I took 2. I guess I have to continue it. Dehydration also effects gout.

We eat 3 or 4 ounces of watermelon everyday. We used to buy cantaloupe but it never tastes right to me. Not sure where they get it from. Plus the local store thinks it is gold. The watermelon is cheaper.

Thought I would share something funny. I tracked my food plan today which was coming up extremely high in calories and while I knew the ribs would be high especially in fat, I couldn't believe the cals would be so high. Come to find out there must be a glitch with MFP today because it had tracked every item on my list for dinner twice. Thank God it is back down to where it should be. Still a little over the 1400 I allow myself, but fiber is perfect at 22 g. Not worrying about carbs today because they will be high too.

My brunch ended up being oatmeal with fruit and plain Greek yogurt. With the berries and banana plus a touch of liquid stevia, the plain yogurt wasn't bad at all.

Trish I occasionally get double entries on MFP too. I guess all websites have glitches.

My steaks I had out to defrost were still frozen at dinner time so DH decided he wanted hot dogs and corn today. I have been waiting so long for this and it really hit the spot. I will cook the steaks tomorrow. Who knows what he will eat. The corn from Walmart was very good. We don’t know where it is from. I didn’t track my dinner yet so I don’t know if it’s good or bad. Too late to worry about it. I ate it!

My baby back ribs turned out really good. DH liked them. I cut them up and rubbed the seasonings and the SF barbecue sauce into it before cooking and cooked them in the air fryer. I don't think a grill could have cooked them any better. I don't cook them often and still have the other half in the freezer and probably won't cook them until Labor Day weekend. Calories were 1435, net carbs were 86. I was surprised that my fiber was only 16 grams, but my eating window was about 7 hrs. We usually get corn from Walmart when they get a good batch in otherwise we get it from local store.

We will have our hot dogs with sauerkraut tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Happy 4th of July to all in the US.

After eating 121 carbs yesterday the scale is DOWN .2 lb. I can’t figure that out. I had 1137 calories and only 4 fiber. I don’t eat a lot of fiber. Maybe it will bump up tomorrow or maybe it’s one of those deals where an occasional high carb day is helpful. They were not even healthy carbs!

DH thinks my foot/ankle pain could be from the bacon. I have no pain today but I just ate bacon so we will see. I used to hate bacon but now I love it. Go figure! My ankle only hurts standing, not sitting or sleeping.

I am going to cook those steaks today. I can’t refreeze them. DH will probably want hot dogs again. I used to buy Sugardale which are cheap. $1.25 for 8. We had Ballpark beef at step daughters and liked them so I bought them. $4.00+ for 8. I don’t mind paying a little more if we like something. I think they are no nitrates.

Our weather is nice today. We will sit out tonight and watch fireworks. The smoke from them burns my eyes and nose. I will make sure I take my allergy meds.

——————————

I made some cole slaw. I haven’t made it in years. We like it but I don’t think to make it. We don’t like most restaurant cole slaw. We do not like it soupy or too much vinegar. I don’t follow a recipe. I just shred cabbage and carrot, add a bit of onion then mix mayo and vinegar, salt and pepper. No sugar. I never tried buying slaw dressing. Occasionally I buy the cole slaw mix in the produce department but I usually have cabbage and carrots on hand.

Ankle doesn’t hurt so far.

DH has been making tuna salad often lately. He eats that instead of Pastaroni. I’m glad because it’s much healthier, more protein fewer carbs. I eat some if he doesn’t finish it all. I was using a tuna salad entry I found in MFP but I just noticed it has 10 carbs in 1/2 cup. We only use tuna, mayo and a small bit of celery. So I found an entry that has fewer carbs. I know some people put other things in their tuna salad. MFP is a guess at best unless you use all your own recipes.

Carol Sue, I read somewhere that most people especially in America eat over 45% of their calories in carbs with little to no fiber. Also WW taught us that it is what we eat within a week not what we eat in one day. Even our A1c is tested for the last 3 months. That is probably why WW allowed a certain # of points per day plus a set amount of extra for the week. So I don't think it has anything to do with what we have today as long as we have an overal plan that we follow. JMO

We like the ball park franks without nitrates as well. Hope your ankle will be pain free today.

Weight is inching down very slowly, but I would rather eat the way I am eating and lose even a little at a time than to keep bouncing around. Weight was 183.2 and FBG 98. Calories today will be 1287, net carbs 89 fiber 17.

Today I had 1500+ calories and 94 carbs. That is the end of my July 4 celebration. Back to business tomorrow. I remember when I ate like this every day. I am not upset about it. I planned this and will accept the consequences. Someone on the internet said they made deviled eggs so I did too. I was surprised that DH ate some. I didn't think he would. Now I have to clean up the kitchen.
