Carol Sue Tell your DH Happy Birthday. Tell my Mama died at 65 and I am 77. Of course you know my Daddy died at 96. I love what that advertisement for a Cancer center used to say that she said the doctor told her there... He said, "He didn't see an expiration tag on her big toe". I remember DH Mother telling me that each year she lived longer than her Mother, she would think of her Mother who died when she was 6 yrs old. DH Mother lived to be 90. I think people do live longer these days.

Well, I am stuck at 190. It is my own fault since I start out beautifully each day with my eating and then just absolutely blow it with nighttime eating. I don't even thing I'm hungry so not sure why I do it. I just want something. I thought about going back to CAD using the SF plan but not sure I would do it. I really think I just need to get my head around this again. I know how you feel Carol Sue. I also think that the ones on these diets that lose so well are younger. I had no problem losing weight when I was younger. Also I don't think we are going to learn or hear of anything new to help us lose weight that we haven't heard before. I still love the way people look when they do keto but I am not strong willed enough to do it. However, I do think about it because my FBG is going back up since I got away from low carbing. It was 125 yesterday and 124 today. Remember, I had it down between 100 and 120 there for a while. So I do have to think about that. Actually that is the reason I thought of going back to CAD with 2 low carb meals and 1 carb meal eaten within the 60 minute rule. I still may try it with Simply Filling. It is a healthy plan if done correctly.

The air fried fish was nice and flaky inside but the crust lacked much to be desired. I read on line that you need to fry it first. Well if I have to brown it in oil then what is he purpose of using the air fryer except that it was flakier than any I have ever cooked. Today I am going to make Chicken Parmesan. It won't take long to cook it in the convection oven. I cooked it before in the crockpot but I think this will be better.

DH found a shingle that blew off our house the other day so he is going to put it back today. I'm not happy with him doing it since our roof is so steep but he insists upon doing it himself. God help us.

Well, I got up late so I will eat breakfast at 11 am. I've let my house get in a mess so I have a lot of housework exercise to do today. So I guess I better get to it.

Have a good day dear friends.

Wannabehealthy 12-28-2020 01:16 PM

Trish, I am surprised that a shingle blew off your roof since your house isn't very old. I hope he is safe. That is something my DH would do.

I don't think you should switch from WW even if you do it on your own. You admit your gain is from night time eating. You have gradually allowed that to happen. You can correct that and get back to losing.

Both my parents died in their 60s. My mother from heart disease made worse by obesity. My dad died at 60 but he had Huntingtons disease which he did not pass down to me. Both of my brothers had it and died young. My half sister did not have it and lived to 85. But she was in a nursing home, bedridden with dementia. No way to live. The last time I saw her she did not recognise me but when I said I am Carol Sue she got a big smile on her face and grabbed my and DHs hands. But she was just sleeping and eating, lying in that bed. I know the way to prevent that is to exercise, so I know what I have to do. This was funny, but my sister told me she wanted some chocolate, and if I go down to Nancy's kitchen I would find chocolate on the kitchen counter. Nancy was her daughter. Nancy took care of her MIL until she died then took care of her own mother until she had to go into a nursing home.

I don't know what we will eat today. I'm tired of cooking.

Not a good day,,today. I did not get on the scale because I felt fat. DH cooked eggs without asking and I ate them. I can't stand the thought of wasting them. But I hate myself for giving in.. I told him he shouldn't do that but he is ignoring my wishes. We are getting low on eggs. I wonder what he will do if I let them run out. He doesn't "get" that this is so depressing to me that he does that.

No one here yet today. I hope everyone is ok.

pattygirl63 12-29-2020 12:58 PM

Weight is up another lb to 191 and that is unacceptable. Since I am the only one who can change things, therefore I tracked online on WW today's meals. I have it free for 2 months so I may as well use it. I do not understand why some of foods are 0 pts on the Simply Filling and then so much higher pts on Purple. Maybe it has something to do with 16 daily pts and 28 weekly. Hopefully it takes away from wondering when do SF with 49 weeklies. The big thing for me is that it is just so much easier to track online. Plus it is more for convenience than anything else. I think it is easier to use all of or all but 4 of the daily pts so I can roll some of those over for special times and then use the weeklies on days I want something that takes me over the dailies. They are there to use and I am going to learn to use them. Example, I've been hungry for a chicken pot pie. DH picked up one when we went to the store last night and it is 15 pts. I only get 16 a day, Since I haven't been tracking online for Purple plan , I don't know if I have the pts or not. I will use the all my pts today plus 3 more. I will probably go back to tracking on Thursday any way, so I'm just going to use today and tomorrow to get back OP.

I thought about going back to blue where I have to track almost everything and still may do that depending on how things go. It might be much better to have higher pts and just count everything and not worry about whether it is whole wheat or multigrain etc. Those foods are usually 4 pts which is swallowed up in he few added pts they allow. On Blue plan you only get most fruits and veggies as 0 pts and then you have to count everything else. Then I wouldn't have to worry about whether it is white flour or whole wheat whatever. The only thing I don't like about any of the WW plans is that fish and white poultry fat free are the only 0 pts meats and everything else has to be counted. It makes it difficult to eat enough protein. However, on the newer plans I can have the Protein drinks for less pts than on SF.

Since nighttime eating is a problem for me right now then I will conquer it by making it a part of my plan each day. I am going to make a chicken salad that I can eat off of tonight for dinner and even have a snack of air popped popcorn tonight. The salad will be 1 pt and the popcorn will be 0 pts to round off my daily eating. I have to learn to work around all this to make it work in my favor rather than against me.

Carol Sue Since you do like eggs, is there some way you can work them into your plan? I am having to learn how to have my eggs but I will have to change what I eat with it. I can have 1 sl bacon or 1 sl of some brands of ham for 1 pt. I can have 1 or 2 slices of Canadian bacon for 0 pts, but I get tired of the same thing all the time. So perhaps you can work the eggs into your plan especially since you like the fluffy ones your DH cooks and maybe that would relieve your stress.

Haven't been doing my exercises very faithfully but I hope to get back to it.

Have good day.

Wannabehealthy 12-29-2020 02:11 PM

Trish, here's the thing with the eggs. I do love them. But this has become something more. When DH made the comment about me having to have them every day it made me realize that I was eating them regularly every day even when not hungry. It made me see that I don't have to have them everyday. This is a breakthrough for me to be willing to not have eggs every day and he is ruining it . I want to eat eggs for breakfast when I want them not when DH wants me to. My plan is eat when I'm hungry, not eat when DH puts something in front of me. That is how I got fat, by eating when he wanted me too. I want to change that but he cannot accept the change.

Now he's making comments about me not using my exercise equipment. I hope that makes me want to prove him wrong and start using them.

Trish, I agree that you should use the free months to get back on track. You did it before and you can do it again. You've only gone up a couple pounds, its not out of control. I can't advise you to use any particular plan because only you know how you want to eat. I think if you want to have a pot pie you should. You could cut it in half and have half for lunch and half for dinnerwith a salad, or you could make that day a OMAD day, or have some exercise points that day. You can make it work. There are so many ways to try.

pattygirl63 12-30-2020 12:39 AM

Carol Sue I understand where you are coming from and I would probably feel the same way.

My day has gone pretty good. I did use a lot of pts, but I think I had them. I guess I will see what the scale says in the morning. I noticed that others were questioning why some things that are supposed to be 0 pts doesn't track as 0 on the Purple plan app and they are told not to track those things. So I guess if it is 0 pt, you just don't show it. I suppose that means that is how you track Simply Filling foods on their too. It is really more complicated than it should be. I probably will continue to use the Simply Filling plan since it is so similar to the Purple plan and just track the foods that are counted. I did get my exercise in today. Not a 100% perfect day but a lot better than it has been the past few days.

Wannabehealthy 12-30-2020 08:17 AM

I'm not going to weigh today, either. Maybe not til Friday since that starts the new year.

Today we have to go to Wal-Mart. I have a list of several things we need. I have not been out in 4 days. It has been so cold. This morning we are starting a warm up but its only 33 degrees right now. There's very little snow left but we are due to get more Thursday and Friday. The last time I was out was Dec 26 at Wal-Mart. It was so empty compared to before Christmas.

I doubt if DH will cook breakfast for me after our discussion yesterday. I am not hungry. I used to eat breakfast around 11 and that was also lunch. I don't want to eat until I'm hungry. If he does cook I can save then for later and heat them up or just tell him I'm not hungry and throw them away. Eggs are cheap. How hard is it to ask if I want them? I will try to pay attention when he goes into the kitchen and stop him before he starts. I think it would be a big help if I started eating at 11 am like I used to.

Trish, I think having 0 points foods is confusing. I know they are considered to be healthy foods but they still have calories that add up. I think you could easily overeat with them and also eating the points. If your weight is going up you are eating more than your body is using. I know that I always gain when I eat when DH eats. I have to go back to my own schedule.

You are lucky that DH likes some of the lower point foods you make. I have run out of Aldi's bread. I don't want to make a special trip just for that so if we don't go there I will buy the 35/45 calorie bread in Wal-Mart. DHs bread is 70 calories and lower fiber. Its very good, though, so I understand why he likes it. Do you still make and eat yogurt? Do you still drink protein shakes? I want to know how you make your yogurt, the way you learned from Mad. I like the Greek yogurt I buy but it only comes in a big carton and it goes bad before I finish it. I have to start eating it to heal my gut.

DH will be getting up soon so I have to get dressed for Wal-Mart.

pattygirl63 12-30-2020 11:49 AM

Carol Sue I'm not sure DH likes all the healthy foods I cook but he will eat them. I try to compromise and cook a lot of things he likes as well as the healthier foods. I think he is good about it because he has worked in the hospital and seen so much and he also has to watch his blood sugar. He watched his first wife lose toes and would have lost her legs if she had lived. He is doing very well with his blood sugar right now. He is so much better about giving up things he knows causes his bs to go up. I hope you can some how get your Hubby to work with you. In fact, I was thinking about y'all last night and I just wonder if he knows he needs to be more careful with what he eats and is feeling a little guilty because he doesn't try. Just wonder what is going on in his mind.

The confusing thing I see concerning the 0 pts foods is that it seems that even WW app doesn't count it right. I've seen so many people complain about the fact that it would be on a 0 pts list but when you use the formula it is higher. Some people say go by the formula, but that kind of defeats the purpose of eating from a NCF (No Count Food) list. It gets confusing as to whether it is 100% whole wheat or Whole or Multi-grain. I see some people counting both as 0 pts and I've seen both on the food list you go buy. I've pretty much decided to just follow the Simply Filling Food List and forget the rest of it. I can do this without using too much of the foods off the list and do it on my own. There is a FB group that does Purple seemingly their way and I notice that their meals look more like small snacks of 2 - 3 pts each. It can be done. I will figure it out.

Weight is up .4 lbs today and I'm sure that is from the pot pie. DH liked it and said we should eat it again. WW has a list of pot pies that are a lot less than 15 pts so I will have to check those out while I have the free app. My big problem right now is that my mind just won't wrap around "dieting" right now. I've read a lot on Intuitive Eating, but maybe I should read more on Mindful eating instead.

Sorry just rambling thinking out loud. As an old friend you to say "Someone needs to take me and whip me with a wet noodle". LOL I just can't seem to get my act together. I got to get myself out of this slump soon. Got to go make myself exercise on that bike and hope it makes me feel better.

Have a good day.

Wannabehealthy 12-30-2020 12:50 PM

I like pot pie but DH would not eat it. My mom used to make it and the crust was just Bisquick on top. Very good. They have it at Bob Evans but I like their chicken noodle deep dish better. That is probably very high points.

I think you will get this figured out and start losing again.

The problem with DH is he has very few foods he likes. Many he just tolerates. I don't care what he eats or when. That's up to him. So he should not care what I eat or when, either. This is why its good for us to eat out. We can each order what we like. Today was good. He ate toast and I ate nothing but 1 cup of coffee. For lunch I had canned artichoke hearts and he had macaroni with butter. Soon he will ask me what's for dinner and I don't have an answer.

I decided to buy the Cabot Greek Yogurt again. I read about high fat vs low fat yogurt and decided to stick with the high fat. I have to remember to eat some every day, trying to heal my gut. It is plain unflavored but I add things to it, sometimes frozen blueberries and sometimes sugar free coffee creamer. I also use it as sour cream on a baked potato.

I am optimistic about the new year. I just have to remember to eat what and when I want.

pattygirl63 12-30-2020 02:34 PM

Carol Sue I'm sorry that I forgot to answer your question about the yogurt. I make 7 1/2 cut jars for DH every other week. I use approximately 22 oz of full fat 1/2 & 1/2, 1/2 c Stevia, 1 little tube of probiotic/prebiotics that I buy at Amazon and then add Vanilla flavoring to taste. I don't measure the flavoring because if I was eating it I would want a little more. I mix it until smooth and poor into the individual jars. It takes about 12 hrs in my system. I usually forget it and it goes longer but doesn't seem to bother the taste although they say it will be more tart which DH likes any way. He eats one jar every other night with strawberries or blueberries. Since I have to eat fat free on WW, I don't make mine. I just buy it. I even keep the plain on hand to use in my oats however, since I'm doing very low fat on WW, I use fat free sour cream on potatoes.

I should have known you when I lived in FL and we ate at Bob Evans. I never knew what to eat there. However, I was low carbing then and now that I'm on WW, I probably could find friendlier meals. We don't have one here. I heard they tried putting one in here years ago but it didn't go over. Not sure why.

I don't know what happened after I wrote earlier except that I was looking at the FB Purple group where the lady shows her meals except that I see how she seems to be losing weight. I noticed on the Simply Filling plan that I seldom if ever see anyone post weight loss. So I don't know if that is what did it or what but I decided to commit to the Purple plan. I like some of the things this lady on the Purple plan eats. She even shows that she eats avocado and counts it as 2 pts along with her eggs and fruit. I didn't drink the EVOO in my coffee this morning. I'm not sure it is helping me to lose weight. Maybe I just need to learn how to add good fats like avocado to my meal plan and count the pts for it.

I'm getting a lot of new healthy ideas from her as to how to put things together. The way my plan is tracked for today, I will have 3 pts to roll over to tomorrow and I will have 1/2 my exercise done for the week. I still don't know how my weekly pts really measure up since I was doing Simply Filling so I'm just going to start Purple Plan over today and go with the flow the rest of this week. I haven't decided if I will keep my WI as Sunday as they have it or if I will make tomorrow my WI day again. Maybe I will just keep it as it is and hope that maybe with 4 days back on PP, the gain from the holiday won't be so bad on Sunday. I think that is what I will do. After all this was working before and perhaps if I really work the plan consistently, things will be even better in 2021 and it really will become a Lifestyle.

That lady had a 1 smart pt Gingerbread cheesecake picture she had for the holiday. I followed it to the website where she got the recipe and printed out a Lemon cheesecake recipe for 1 smart pt that I want to try. It is made with Greek yogurt. WW also has a bread dough recipe made with Greek yogurt that can be use to make rolls, HB or HD rolls. I just need to start getting creative and make this woe more fun as well as healthy.

I am going to try to catch some of your optimism dear friend and believe with you for a great 2021

Edited to just say I actually made a successful Day today with 3 pts to rollover to tomorrow. Hopefully I can keep this going.

Wannabehealthy 12-31-2020 05:54 AM

I'm glad you had a good day Trish. Sometimes just talking it out with someone is all it takes to work things out. I'm hoping my issue works out too although its still touch and go with the retraining of DH. LOL. Its strange that I don't miss the eggs yet but I can have them if I want them and even eat them later in the day. He's stubborn and will probably never cook them for me again. That's ok, I can cook them myself if and when I want them. I have surprised myself not eating them these few days. It proves what you can do once you set your mind to it.

Also,he wanted to go to the WVa casino yesterday but I said no. Poor DH. I do feel bad but I told him we really don't like it there and decided to wait til next week when the PA casinos reopen. Its a much shorter drive. He can wait a few days.

I woke up so early and couldn't fall back to sleep. This is going to make staying up til midnight even harder but maybe I'll get a nap. If I don't that's just another thing for DH to get mad about.

I got on the scale when I first got up but it did not register on my app. It was 192.2. I got back on now because I wanted it to register on my app and now its 192.4, after 2 cups of coffee. I don't have a record of my starting weight for last Jan but I did post that I was up 3 lbs due to the sauerkraut on NYE so I expect a similar bump up this year. I got my new scale on Jan 4 and was 196 that day. This year I want my exact starting weight so tomorrow I will weigh no matter what. I will not forgo the sauerkraut for the sake of a couple pounds.

DH just made breakfast but did not make it for me. Score 1 point.

pattygirl63 12-31-2020 12:08 PM

Carol Sue Bravo for a 1 pt for DH not cooking the eggs.

I did change my WI day back to Thursday instead of Sunday. So it will be a clean start. I don't like doing it on Friday. I think I'm going to feel different about all the plan this time. I checked to see what I weighed last year on the 31st of December and I weighed 207.8. Then when I tracked my WI for today I saw that I have lost 16.6 lbs since May 20th when I started WW. I've only lost 17 lbs this year so most of my weight loss was on WW. So that is a big A+ for WW. Weight this morning was 190.8 (which means I only gained 2.2 lbs during the holiday) but the big thing is that my FBG was back down to 106 this morning. So I guess that shows what I need to be doing.

It is very cold and raining here so I've got chili in the crockpot. I have a plan for tonight's dinner but not sure if I will have that or not. All 0 pts but a lot of carbs so that may change. I still have 3 to 5 pts left over.

Headed to beauty shop this morning. Weather is bad out there but since I don't get the back permed till next Friday, I do need her to do it. I hope to talk DH into going to Sam's Saturday when everyone is getting over their hangovers. LOL

BBL

Wannabehealthy 12-31-2020 01:12 PM

Trish, I don't recall you ever having the success you've had with WW. That's incredible.

I think I will make vegetable soup tomorrow. We are also having cold blustery weather, shifting between rain and snow depending on the temperature. I have everything to make the soup and I think grocery stores are open tomorrow so DH can get some French bread if he wants it. Soup and chili are both good on a blustery day.

pattygirl63 12-31-2020 03:01 PM

Carol Sue I haven't done this well with my weight loss since I moved back to TX. I assume that is because my eating has changed so since I came here... more carby because that is how my family eats. I used to lose more each year but then I was younger back then too. I am just thankful that I only gained 2.2 lbs during the holiday and also thankful for the 17 lbs lost for the year. I really struggled most of the year to even lose that. So I'm happy with it.

The soup sounds so good. I just might make a 0 pt vegetable soup for my evening meal tonight. I would like to make my evening meals 0 pts if possible. I think I will thaw out some of the left over ham from last Christmas dinner for our New Years meal. I don't know if I have any black eyed peas to go with it or not. I read some where that in some parts of the world people have lentils for good luck in the new year. I could cook some of them although DH doesn't like either one of them. MIL#2 was so superstitious that she not only ate black eyed peas, I was still finding them all over the house where she hid them after she died. She had them in purses, billfolds, drawers and shoes. LOL I've never been one was superstitious. I just thought eating black eyed peas on New Years day was a tradition everybody does.

Staying with WW is going to be good for my exercise too. I came home and did 20 minutes on my stationary bike. So I got my exercise done for today.
