I did great at the casino. $900 but I didn't tell DH. I don't like deceiving him but he would want to go again. I have money set aside for emergencies and that money will go with it and will be there if we need it. He won $200, too. That's the thing with gambling, you never know if you will win or lose.

I looked up the weather forecast online and it said zero precipitation but I read it wrong and it snowed later on. We made it home ok driving slow like everyone else. We didn't take the car that has all wheel drive.

I hope all goes well with your new refrigerator delivery and you like it. We have a 5 cu ft freezer in the basement that I use for extra frozen food. It is 45 years old. If it breaks I don't think we will get another one.

Well, DH found the money I won and is mad that I hid it from him. I told him its because he always wants to keep gambling and I like to take it home. I don't know what will happen now, because he wants me to gamble because I win, but if I can't bring my winnings home I will just sit somewhere and read my Kindle. I have to find somewhere else to hide my money. Ha ha. If he knew about the other money I have put away God knows what he would do!

Wt is 192.8 today, down from 194 yesterday. If I am between 190 and 195 I consider that "maintaining.". That's how weight and fluid fluctuates for me, and maybe everyone else. The only way I can continue to weigh daily is to keep that in mind and not let the fluctuations bother me.

The reason I am no longer logging food or counting calories is because I was reading a doctor, I don't remember which one, and he said that logging food and counting calories can lead to an eating disorder. I don't think this happens for everyone, but I know I tend toward disordered eating. Although I understand WHY MFP won't let me have less than 1000 calories, I think if I am satisfied with 975 calories on a particular day I don't think I should have to find 25 calories to eat to satisfy an app. And if I'm truly hungry, I don't feel I should feel guilty that I went over a pre set number. I think if I eat when hungry and stop when hunger is gone that is a healthy way to eat. I know I am nutrient conscious and mostly give my body what it needs. I don't fill up on junk food and think its ok because I ate within calorie count. So this is what I want to do. If this backfires I can always go back to logging. As far as time restricted eating, I want to leave a time period between meals, whatever that works out to be. Some people are testing blood sugar and only eat when blood sugar is normal. I don't know if I can do that because as a diabetic for 12-13 years my blood sugar is not always in a normal range when I'm hungry. I think this doctor created a work sheet where you track blood sugar to see your pattern, to see what is "my normal," rather than always being at 80-85 when hunger hits. Maybe if I do this consistently my blood sugar would be at a normal range when I get hungry, but it costs money to do the program. So I am going to try to do it on my own. Right now I'm a bit shaky and have a slight headache and I just ate 2 eggs and 1 slice of toast. I should not be having those symptoms. I don't think my blood sugar is low, not by a long shot, but I will test. I never have a normal blood sugar but maybe its my low. This program is not for diabetics. Its just for general population. I don't think the people doing it are diabetic but they are low carb eaters.

I remember now, its not a doctor. Its Marty Kendall from Optimizing Nutrition and the program is called Data Driven Fasting.

Yesterday the store didn't have the Greek yogurt I like so I bought store brand. I tried it today and I don't like the taste or texture eating it plain but I used it on a baked potato in place of sour cream and I liked that. I just don't want to waste it. I saw online that someone used a spoonful of sugar free cheesecake pudding mix in theirs and it was great! That might work for me. When I go back to Wal-Mart I will get my Cabot yogurt. I have tried so many others and I can't find one I Iike as much as Cabot so I guess ill stick to that one. I have to get my gut straightened out.

I think DH is getting over it. I hope so!

Carol Sue I really don't do well with counting myself but also like having the info on MFP. There are days when I could get by with just 700 to 900 calories and then there are days when I am hungry for up to 1500 calories because I too like eating only when I'm hungry and eating only as much as it take to satisfy my hunger or taste. I say taste because I haven't been able to differentiate when I want something because I'm hungry for that taste or if I am really hungry or both. I feel like the only meal that I have to eat is the one I cook and eat with DH. The rest of my eating could just be if and when I want it.

I have decided that if I'm going to use MFP and count calories that I am going to go back to eating just a little bit of fat because I can see what the FF eating is doing to my hair drying it out. However, the changes will be 1% milk instead of FF. I do like veggies but I'm tired of salads so I will start eating more veggies with protein. I have pretty much decided to make chipped beef today and I will eat mine with MG pasta.

Weight is up to 190.2 this morning but not surprised since not eating normal since we have eaten take out twice this week. FBG was 107 and bp was excellent too so it will get better when I can get back to normal eating. Not sure when that will be since we are going to be stuck at home maybe for a week. We are getting light rain that is freezing on streets and I'm just praying I will still be able to get our new fridge, but we won't be able to go to the store until possibly Saturday if then. If we can get the fridge then I can make some soups, beans and chili to get us through this cold spell. We are supposed to get snow Sunday and Monday a break on Tuesday and more snow Wednesday and they say we will get an accumulation of 3 inches which is extremely low for us. The are expecting a new record low of 4 degrees here one day this next week. DS and I text our hairdresser and told her we would see her next week. Our high today was supposed to 39 but it has been 28 most of the morning and finally has gotten to 29. I don't think it will get much higher.

I heard from DH DD and she said she did fine with the 2nd vaccine shot and she only had a little bit of a sore arm. Sounds good to me. DS and DBIL are supposed to get their 2nd one next Tuesday but not sure what they will do since the weather is so bad.

I need to make a grocery list in case DH decided to go to the store before things get really bad here. I actually think we should wait until tomorrow or Saturday when it is supposed to get up to 38. However, I need to have it ready.

Looks like this weather is pretty much nationwide. A lot of you up north are used to this and can deal with it better than we do here because we don't get it all that often. Regardless, everybody have a good and safe day and stay warm.

Trish, back before they made 4 wheel drive vehicles so common DH was able to drive as if there was no snow on the ground. Our car did very well yesterday but we have salt trucks spreading salt up here. It makes a big difference. When I still worked I had to drive 21 miles each way in snow and I hated it but I had to go to work. I couldn't just stay home. But now we don't do it if we don't have to. Its so easy to have an accident.

Today I grilled pork loin chops with rice pilaf and vegetables, carrots, Brussels sprouts and broccoli. I think in the evening I will have yogurt with cheesecake pudding mix. I am using potato starch and yogurt to try to heal my gut.

We got the new refrigerator installed and they took the old one away. Then DH and I went to the local store where we could get DH cauliflower and I got enough meat to have good protein during this cold spell we are having. I got some ground beef to make spaghetti one day and I got different chicken breasts and tenders and pork chops. I'm so looking forward to having some good healthy cooked meals for a change. This has been a crazy week. DH still has meds we need to get from Walmart and I think it is going to be dry and maybe have a little warm up so we can go get his meds and a few things we couldn't get at the local store. Then we will hunker down until this is all over. One of the things I am finding easy to do now that I have the filtered water from the new fridge is that I am really enjoying drinking water even as cold as it is outside. Oh now they are saying that our new record low here in Waco is going to be 3. I sure hope we don't lose power during this stretch.

I remember having snow like this when I was a little girl, but it got to the point where a snow day was very few experiences. When DH#2 and I lived west of here on our little farm, it snowed every year there. We had a butane tank and it never failed that I would have to call and have it topped off because a snow would sneak up on us.

No beauty shop tomorrow so I hope I can sleep in.

Goodnight.

Trish, I'm glad you got your new refrigerator and were able to get some meat. Now you're set. We saw the icy Texas roads when they showed that big pile up on the national news. That was terrible! I'm glad it cleared up enough that you could get out to the store. I have a list ready for Wal-Mart today so I don't have to go on the weekend. There will be light snow the next couple days but they said Monday and Tuesday will be BIG snow events. I'm not looking forward to that. This is why I have to get food in the house today. We rarely lose electricity but we have a generator in case we do.

Weight is up .2. I'm surprised its not more. I ate everything in the house yesterday. DH bought pretzels. I rarely eat them but I did yesterday. And he found Ritz crackers in the cupboard. That's s probably why I didn't sleep well. I am not taking tart cherry for a while. I read that it can cause itchy skin so I want to see if that's what's causing mine. If I'm still itchy after a week I will go back to it.

Nothing else new.

HI friends: I have not been able to read all your posts, just catching up.
I am 160 this am, still struggling. the way I have been fasting is simply not working. I am feeling exhausted and deprived, and definitely feeling blue at times. The knee is slowly healing, but I still have painful times. I could not walk far yesterday, but did sit out in the sunshine for a bit. Having this sunshine lately has been a blessing, It is still very cold (-12 to -18 C which is going down toward 0 F to our neighbours to the south) at night, and warms during the day to -8 or -10, with the sunshine. I am struggling with mild depression and anxiety none the less. Not any worse than most of us during the time of covid. Its just there.

Carol: what you said about tracking food is exactly what I feel, it makes me think about food all the time, which is part of my problem with food and overeating to begin with.....

SO what I have decided to do is to eat Keto for several days. I have been doing this for about 4 days now, and no appreciable weight GAIN. So all to the good. I will fast someday soon, and have to do more to get more strictly keto. I did have a grapefruit the other day, and have some berries in the fridge. Not sure if I will be eating the berries. DD is coming over today to do some laundry and we will go for a short walk, in the sunshine, and I will get her to take some berries and other groceries. It is so much cheaper to buy things in larger packages, I may as well do that and give her half. If she were still living here, thats what would happen. This way less waste anyhow.

So I will eat Keto again today, I have some lovely but small avocados and other yummy treats. Planning a dairy free day today.

Have a good day, I will go back and read posts from before later on.

Mad, I'm sorry you're struggling. You know how they say low carb only works the first time you do it, well maybe its the same with fasting. Maybe you could do a longish overnight fast instead of extended.

I just returned from the grocery store. I had a list but didn't have avocados on it and I wanted some. They were not a necessity. I spent a lot, buying a roast, steaks and ground beef, kielbasa I and hot dogs. I stocked up in case we got snowed in but then I heard our forecast is for less snow. 95% chance Mon and Tues but lighter than the forecast I thought I heard overnight. So I guess I'll wait and find out who was right. My favorite store for meat has changed. We bought some a week or so ago and it was so much tastier and fresh than the other store. Maybe management changed. We are picky about beef for some reason. Chicken and pork not so much.

Its Friday and we usually eat out. No plans yet.

Fatmad So sorry you are still struggling and hope things get better soon. I agree that this covid thing has been very depressing. That with today being one year ago that Daddy left us has been very depressing for DS and me. We would love to get out for breakfast and would have gone out for dinner today but the weather is too yucky.

Carol Sue I like the meat at our local store better than Walmart's. Some of the beef from Walmart is tough where the other store is a TX company that specializes in being beef so their's is better. I actually like chicken from Walmart better than the other because the chicken breasts and tenders are not so big and DH says it is too big. We are going to Walmart today too to get his meds and if I had known that I would have waited to get my chicken today.

Weight was down 1 lb to 189.2 this morning and FBG is getting better too as it was 104 this morning. Evidently the fiber is the key. I've got lentils in the crockpot so I can have that with brown rice for supper tonight. I had my 1 egg cheese and bacon taquito for breakfast and back to using my Sugar Free creamer. DH said we will get KFC today on the way home (probably because he wants their coleslaw) but I have managed to keep my calories around 1200 calories even with the take out so hopefully scales will keep coming down. I think drinking the water helps too. I haven't drank much of it today since we are going to Walmart. So I'll have to drink it when we get back home.

I upped the fat to 30% on MFP and lowered the carbs by 5% to 40% because I don't want to lower my protein. I have it set at 30%. I am drinking 1% milk and will use light products instead of FF. Since I'm counting calories, why I don't think it will matter. I just don't like my hair and nails being brittle etc. It is important to have some fat and enough protein. I am still using a lot of what I learned from WW just easier to do it counting the calories.

I don't think it is going to be as bad as they originally thought as temp today and tomorrow will be in upper 30s and we are supposed to get snow Sunday night and Monday with a break Tuesday and then some snow again Wednesday. They changed the low to 18 so that isn't bad at all.

Have a good day and stay warm and safe everybody.

Trish, I didn't realize that Texas ever got that kind of weather.

We went out to eat and I got a stromboli and I wish to had ordered fish. But I was thinking that Lent starts next week and I will be ordering fish for 6 weeks. The stromboli was too spicy and too greasy. I'll pay tonight.

Praying for comfort for you and your sister on this sad anniversary.

Thanks Carol Sue. I haven't talked to my sisters today. BIL is off today and they got their groceries yesterday when he was on his way home. I probably won't hear from her this weekend and the other sister is in MS.

Walmart was full and there were empty shelves. It was crazy reminded DH and me of shopping before a hurricane in So. FL. Any way we are stocked up again and ready for the weekend.

Carol Sue I'm sorry your stromboli wasn't as good as you expected. I didn't think our chicken was as good as it usually is either. Maybe because I wasn't really looking forward to it. I like mine cooked just a little crispier than it was even for the original. Plus it was a little greasier than usual.
I'm looking forward to a bowl of my lentils I cooked to eat in place of the cereal I've been eating.

Calories should be about 1200 to 1300 today.

Last night I was still awake at 1am so I took a tart cherry capsule and 1 Tylenol. Then I slept until 8 AM. I needed that after the poor sleep the night before. I might try 1/2 of a melatonin. I didn't like the feeling when I took a whole one but I read of people who cut them in half or 4ths. I will also change soap when I shower. That might help the itchiness.

It seems the February weather is being hard on everyone, and I heard March is going to be snowy for us. It will soon be spring!

Weight back down to 187.8 and FBG 104 for 2 days in a row. I have heard that Hemp oil can correct diabetes so when I saw it was legal in all states now and saw some people I trust selling it, I got DH and me some. Yesterday I asked DH what his bs reading was 114 yesterday. So I guess it really helps it. I need to read up on all it's benefits.

Carol Sue Texas used to get weather like this from time to time but not every year. I remember DH#2's grandfather telling us that he remembered it snowing in TX in August when he was a young boy. That must have been in the 20s or 30s long before we were born. I do remember reading of a black man who froze today when he was traveling from Marlin, TX to Waco during a blizzard that I didn't know we ever got. However, they get snow in the northern part of TX close to Oklahoma every year in most places. If it hadn't been for me wanting to be with Daddy, DH and I would have moved up in that area because we like having the snow, not having it as much as y'all do and he did in Indiana.

Eating is good. We will have pork chops today with salad and veggies. I really enjoyed my eggs today and yesterday. I had cheese toast. I think counting calories on MFP is going to work very well for me. I think WW helped me to get back into the groove. Still have to do our pills for next week and I want to use the recumbent bike so I need to get with it.

Have a good day.

Trish, how do you prepare your pork chops? DH only likes boneless loin chops, but he is afraid of pork and insists that it is really well done, translate to burned and hard as a rock. I made them this week on the grillpan. I tried browning them lightly then cooking them til they were done inside, but they still got too dark for me. Next time I will try not having the pan as hot. I saw a recipe for cooking them in the slow cooker with mushroom soup. I don't know if DH would eat them that way but it sounded good to me. I used to like pork but not since meeting DH and having to cook everything so well done. I also like pork chops breaded and fried but I don't think DH would eat them either.

I don't know what we're having today, but I know DH likes when we have fresh ground beef and we have that now, so probably something with that. Tomorrow I'm going to cook my rump roast. I want to brown it and then cook it in the slow cooker but everything I see online says to cook it for 10 hours. DH won't wait that long! Maybe I can put it on high at first then turn it down to low.

You have really found your nitch for eating, Trish. I need to fine mine. I want to add more fiber since that's working so well for you, and what I've been reading lately indicated that too much fat keeps us fat, so I will watch fat, too. I won't do low fat, but I won't add extra fat. I want to use the potato starch for my gut bacteria but I keep forgetting. It should be taken on an empty stomach but I don't think of it until I've eaten. Bedtime is good. I thought about it after I went to bed but didn't want to get up to get it. Nice and warm and cozy in bed, and didn't want to move.
