Carol Sue I think my problem was that I really thought I needed to do low carb or keto and it looks like I do better not doing that. I seem to do better with low fat although I really like the results and benefits I see others have with keto. I finally had to admit it isn't me.

My weight is up 3 lbs today. My big problem right now is that I am stuck on those darn animal crackers. I tried eating popcorn to keep from eating them last night but it didn't work. I would throw them away but there is so many of them and I can share them with the little nephews when they come over. Although even at that my calories are not up a whole lot didn't even get to 1500 calories yesterday so I think the store brand Nyquil I'm taking for my allergy at night must be the culprit. Even though I am eating some of the things I probably shouldn't, I am counting the calories.

I ate a big breakfast of eggs, toast, CB and banana this morning and we will have fish fillet with salad and veggie for Dinner. I am going to try my best to stop eating anything at night if I can and if I do try to make popcorn or something like that and keep my calories under 1200 if I can. I will start taking extra Vitamin C instead of taking the Nyquil. It is hard not to take it because it works so well to knock out the allergy symptoms. FBG is still good and I'm sure that is the fiber that takes care of that. Although I try to move around a lot etc, I need to be exercising but with the allergy and drowsy reaction to the Nyquil, I want to sit and sleep instead. I need to read some before DH gets up and turns on the tv, but I may take a nap. I haven't heard from DS today and hope she is okay. We talk so long that she may have decided to skip it. Her DD MIL boyfriend is in the hospital and I saw this morning they have moved him to larger hospital in Ft. Smith Arkansas because he has covid and pneumonia. She asked for prayer for him. She has it too and isn't allowed o be with him which is a bummer to. I sure pray they both will recover soon.

Carol that is interesting that in the last 2 yrs I've lost 30 lbs. All I can say is it took me a long time to get here and it is definitely a fight to just stay here and not really gain.

Have a blessed day friends.

Trish, I'm glad I read those threads and I want to keep reading to see how long I maintained the loss and when I regained it. I see how I was eating different then, not eating everything DH ate and eating small amounts. I can do it if I set my mind to it. I tell myself that I am an over eater and can't control it but obviously I can because I did for 5 months or more.

We went to the casino today instead of tomorrow and we did well. I'm so glad we finally didn't come home broke. There is a chance of rain changing to snow tomorrow. My days will be mixed up now.

I agree with you that every time you tried to eat low carb it didn't work for you. I think the high fat part didn't work for you. I guess KETO is good for some but not for all, just like everything.

Hi friends: and like magic yesterday's fast day went well and I was not even tempted. I am thinking to eat keto for two days and then fast, fasting too much is just making me feel deprived. The trick is to avoid the carbs on eating days and will see where that gets me. I am very resistant to losing this weight, both physically and mentally.
I am 158.5 today

I hope you can both manage your own challenges here. Sometimes its just hard not to eat certain foods, and I for one need to avoid them altogether.
DH is being good right now. I am going to make a nice curry tonight and enjoy my riced cauliflower with it. I make a big pot of rice for him, as he will eat fried rice the next day mixing it with egg and onion, and thats one meal I don't worry about for him.

Mad, I'm glad to see that you have dropped down to 158. Fasting and Keto works well for you. Looks like my turn to get on the ball.

I slept good again last night. I seem to have worked this out most nights and it seems to matter if something is stressing me.

Going to read more old posts.

Well, that didn't take long. At the beginning of June 2019 I was hovering around 185 and by the end of the month I was bouncing between 189 and 190. I actually typed that I had lost my mojo and was back to my old eating. I'm hoping I can use this information to adjust my eating back to when my weight was dropping. This was my own experience, not something I read in a book!

This morning DH asked me if I wanted breakfast and I said no. He made it anyway and said if I didn't want the egg he would give it to Rusty, and I told him to give it to Rusty! Rusty liked it!

What type of advice do you need, Cathryn?

PA is recommending that schools return to in-school learning but the teachers unions say they will strike if teachers are not vaccinated first. Experts say the spread of virus is low in schools. The private schools have been in school the whole time, like religious schools.

Vaccinations are becoming more available in our area but it seems by the time they are announced on the news the appointments are filled up. I'm thinking as more people receive the vaccine the number of cases will go down and also the risk of contracting it. Masks are still required as well as distancing and I will definitely continue to follow those guidelines. I'm cautiously optimistic that we will be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

They said yesterday that the largest spread is from younger people age 20-49. They are less willing to sacrifice their socializing, many are in college and working.

Fatmad Good to hear from you and glad to see you drop in and I think keto probably helps with to stop the hunger so that your fasting will be easier. I think from what I remember of how you used to do more keto when you first learned you were gluten sensitive was what helped you do so well with the fasting before. So that just might be key for you.

Carol Sue We still wear the masks and distance. I think schools went back to in classes in January. I'm still not sure what I am going to do about the vaccine. DS gets her second one around Valentines day and they have already told her that most people get sick after it. I am concerned for her because she already has some of the problems that can be side effects. So really praying for her. My doctor is a DO and I think they are more picky about what meds they will dish out so I am curious to see what he thinks about it.

I got up this morning and everything in my refrigerator freezer was thawed. Not sure if I will have to throw out everything that was in it. Now the refrigerator doesn't work either. We paid a pretty penny for that thing and it didn't last 5 yrs. We had to go to Home Depot and order another one less fancy and won't get it until next Thursday. DH just checked it an it won't come on. So will probably have to get an ice chest to keep milk etc.

Weight is up but not going to discuss that right now. DH had planned to go to Sam's and to get the oil changed and the car washed so we had a busy day. I didn't want to do all that but it was actually good to get out. Plus I felt that we needed to get out and do all that if he felt like it so we did. Then he wanted LJS fish so we stopped and got that on the way home.

Sam's had plenty of toilet paper and paper towels today for the first time since the covid pandemic started a year ago. In fact, they had plenty of everything. Except for the masks and distancing, things seem to be getting back to normal here.

I'll check in tomorrow after I get back from the beauty shop. Not going to the store since fridge isn't working.

Trish, our stores have been well stocked for several months now but I still keep extra paper products on hand. I don't wait until we're low to buy them. The only time it's empty is on Monday morning because people in our area seem to shop heavy on Sunday. We went last Monday and the meat case was empty. I could not get a rump roast. I don't like to shop on a weekend and won't go on Monday anymore. I want to go today so I don't run out of things over the weekend. We can shop at a local store but prefer Wal-Mart and If DH needs bread it has to be Great Value.

I hope your sister is ok. A doctor on tv said the side effects is proof that your immune system is reacting to the vaccine. If I get it I will wait til the rush dies down. God will lead me to when I should get it.

I'm sorry your refrigerator isn't working. Was there no chance of calling a repairman? I like the one I have now and might call a repairman before buying new, especially since it wasn't very old.

We went to Wal-Mart, spent less than $20 but it was all things we needed. No roast. We went to Aldi's for potatoes and onions so while I was there I got Zero Carb bread, frozen green beans and frozen chicken tenderloins that I buy there.

I have fasted 18 hours for 3 days in a row now. I won't do it everyday. I forgot to weigh this morning because we got ready in a hurry and then I ate when I got home.

I think we will go out for fish for dinner. I want to make vegetable soup tomorrow or Sunday. That's all the meals I have planned. I bought iceberg lettuce and a bag of romaine so we can have salads later. DH only likes iceberg. I like variety.

Carol Sue Congratulations on your 3 days of 18 hr fasts. I wish I could get back to that and hopefully in time I will. I seem to do better after drs appointments than before. I will fast Monday until after my docs appointment. My weight has been up to 192.4 for the past few days and I don't see it going down until after we get our refrigerator so I can stock up on our healthy foods again. . I will have to just do the best I can although I will do the best I can for now.

We didn't like this old refrigerator that we have any way. It was so deep I couldn't reach anything in the back. I don't know if you remember it or not but the water/ice dispenser messed up a long time ago and DH got the part and repaired it but it really didn't ever work right afterwards. It would hang and the water would continually run all over the floor if you didn't pull lever back in place. I've actually hit it accidently and it would run. From what we saw on YouTube it is a problem with that particular refrigerator. We should have replaced it then but we decided we could live with it. However, now the fridge itself doesn't work. Last time I bought a 3 yr warrantee which ran out in October 2019, but it was not as good as the one I got with the new one. I should have gotten the 5 yr one before. DH didn't want me to get the warrantee but I got a 5 yr this time. If anything happens to the new one it won't be as expensive as it would have been for this one. Nothing fancy on the new one and I will like it better. Just glad I had the money saved so I could pay cash for it.

Today and tomorrow we will have to go through the fridge and throw out all the food that thawed out. I'm just not sure about the safety of eating it so is better to be safe than sorry. I bought ice to use in ice chests until we get the new fridge. We will have hot dogs today, eggs tomorrow and probably soup one day. The good thing is that I do have some foods in the big freezer in the garage that I can cook next week.

Have a good day.

I'm glad you got a fridge that you will like better.,Trish and it's nice that you had the money to pay for it. Our house is too small to have extra size appliances.

We got my favorite fish for dinner tonight. DH doesn't usually like to get it because coming home we get in rush hour traffic but we went early today so it wasn't too bad.

I ate between 11 and 4 today so a 5 hour window. Even if I eat at 9 am tomorrow that will be 17 hours and I might not eat til later. I am just trying to get a good start on this. I am eating plenty of food when I do eat.

There is a vaccine scam starting. Some people are being asked for credit card information to hold their appointment.

WOW There are always scammers out there aren't there? So so sad. I will have to share that with family and friends to warn them.

Carol Sue You are getting the hang of the fasting again. I won't get a long fast because I ate late tonight but I think I will fast until dinner tomorrow.

We cleaned the refrigerator freezer and threw it away. Then we cleaned out fridge putting some things in ice chests and throwing away anything that couldn't be saved. The things I could save from the freezer last night I had already put in the deep freezer in the garage. We decided to have chipped beef tomorrow and we could have soup Sunday. Then we will bring home take out after seeing the doctor. Then I will only have to figure something out for Tuesday and Wednesday as we get the new fridge Thursday. So we will make do.

Following yours and Fatmads leading of this weeks fasts, I would like to fast till dinner both Saturday and Sunday. I definitely will fast on Monday until after my doctor's appoint so if I could get (3) 24 hr fasts in that might get me started again OP then Tuesday I could get back to 2 meals a day within 4 to 6 hrs apart. I did it before so there really shouldn't be any reason why I can't do it again. I just have to set my mind to it and do it.

Stayed up late watching movies with DH. We watched one of the Bourne movies and Black Beard which was a long movie almost 4 hrs. Now I'm headed to bed although I'm not sleepy so I hope I can sleep and maybe sleep late in the morning.

I slept pretty good again last night. I think going to bed on an empty stomach is helping with my sleep. I feel good but I have post nasal drip. I think I need to take my allergy meds regularly.

I want to get weighed later, around 9-10AM. I hope I don't forget again. I will start the soup then, too.

Trish, I don't usually fast that long. Usually 16 hours. My main goal is to not eat after dinner. Our dinner is early, but I also go to bed early. I am usually in bed by 9 pm but we watch tv in bed until 12. Still, if I'm in bed I don't think to eat. Sometimes I get hungry but it goes away. Hunger differs sometimes. Sometimes it is a good feeling, like yesterday. Other times I get weak and shaky. That is when I have to eat something RIGHT NOW. That is rare. Normally I would eat eggs around 9 AM and dinner around 3-4. I don't consider that fasting. I consider that normal eating. Its not long enough to get autophagy. Now it is referred to as time restricted eating. To me, fasting is longer, like what Mad does, or even OMAD. I would like to start eating less for dinner. I have a habit of eating a lot because I know its my last food of the day. I would like to eat a small breakfast, then a salad at lunch and a small dinner. I know DH is going to want something besides soup today.

I have to clean out my refrigerator, too, because I have a lot of leftovers that no one is going to eat.

I did get on the scale and I wish I didn't. Back up to 192 point something. I might as well give up, or just quit eating.

I started the soup and started laundry.

Carol Sue I know you bounce like I do and I'm sure there is something we both can do about it. However, I am just as confident that we will. Neither one of us are quitters even though we have out moments that we feel like it.

I thought about my niece who takes a week or two break from her diet and then gets right back on. I've decided to look at the crappy eating I did this past week or so as one of those times. Now today I am back OP as much as I can be. I realized yesterday that one year ago we were struggling with Daddy's illness and next Friday he will be gone a year. So I think that is what is going on with DS and me right now. Plus I heard more about the vaccine they are giving yesterday and I just don't think I am going to get it and I am so concerned about both of my sisters getting it. There is a place where I can write and find out what is in it and how it really works. I need to go back and listen again to see if they said what I think they said.

Any way today I am back OP. I guess since I do more of a liquid fast because I now drink my coffee with about a Tbls of Premier Protein in it I do more of restricted eating. That is actually how my baby sister eats. She drinks her coffee with SF French Vanilla creamer all day and then eats once a day. Even then she eats only when she gets hungry and some days may eat 2 meals. That is actually how I would like to eat.

Funny thing is that with the fridge not working, I am not wanting salad with meals all the time and I have been making it for DH and not eating one myself. I got in the habit of a salad at main meal when I was on CAD. Suddenly I notice that I don't want a salad everyday. Sometimes I want tomato and celery with my meal but not a salad. This is good because I'm not tempted to eat crackers with it. Any way if I don't eat until 3 I will have gone 17 hrs without eating anything. So that is good too. Like you I like to have breakfast around 10 or 11 am and then eat our main meal between 3 and 4 pm. It would be good if I could go without eating anything until breakfast the next day and that will be my goal. Weight this morning was 191 down 1.4 lbs from yesterday. Now to get my act together and keep it going down. I think I'm going to just track everything on MFP now and forget the WW plans. I can still use what I've learned using Simply Filling Power Foods list from there but too much trouble to track both.

Have a good day everybody.

Trish, I wanted to eat a salad today but I made the vegetable soup and that is enough vegetables for today. It turned out delicious. I usually peel 2 whole potatoes in it for DH but I forgot and he says its ok. He usually has potatoes every day.

I can't drink coffee all day. DH does, but I usually have 2 cups in the morning and then I switch to water around 10 AM.
