Carol Sue I seem to remember them always saying that milk helps with weight loss. That could be true. I think I am going to drink the FF milk. I've never been sure about the calcium in the nut milks and I'm working on strengthening my bones since my bone density tests showed I'm on the borderline with weak bones. I'm wanting some mac n' cheese and have decided that I could take serving of wholegrain elbow or shell pasta, and a 2 pt serving of shredded Velveeta cheese and make me a healthy low pts serving of mac 'n cheese. I can use the almond milk so it mixes well making it a 3 pts. Years ago when I was first diagnosed with diabetes was when they had just decided that fat was the problem. I learned how to take normal foods and turn them into low fat foods and my family didn't know the difference. I need to learn how to do that again.

When DH had his heart attack years ago I slowly weaned him off whole milk. I went to 2%, then 1%, to skim. He got so used to skim that one time he accidentally bought whole milk and thought it was spoiled. Now I told him skim is no good so he uses 2%. I really don't know which is best, but I want and like milk.

You can add some cauliflower to your mac and cheese to make it lower carb. You will not taste the difference.

I would rather have 1% or 2% milk but it is 4 pts and Skim is 3 pts. I probably should just use the pts.

I just realized that I am 37 lbs from my goal weight of 150 and 20 lbs from what I weighed 17 yrs ago on DH and my first trip to TX after we married. We lived in FL at that time. This is the first time that I realized that I am actually getting this close to goal in years. When I get there I will consider setting a lower goal.

Its one of the things I don't like about the point system is that is does reward low fat, because of course fats count as points.
I had one plan that gave points specifically for healthy fats, that were to be used only for fats.
I got a bit crazy counting all the macros but i liked that it discouraged low fat this way.
There are a few people who do well with lower fat, but I gained weight, was always hungry. And that was with eating whole grains and lots of fibre and veggies.
But for Trish, high fat doesn't work. You are doing great Trish, keep it up.
Carol, I am going to get some steak tomorrow to enjoy, sounds too good.
I did not weigh again today, was out to work at 530 am. Long busy day. I guess I have been out to work every day since getting home. At least that, makes it more worth missing my boys. They are having a good time at the cottage.

Have a good day friends.

Mad, I had to think twice when you said your boys were at the cottage then realized you were talking about DH and Buddy.

I am in the middle with milk, low fat vs full fat. I just eat what tastes good to me. Most things labeled low fat do not taste good to me. Years ago due to dieting I was drinking skim milk, when it was watery and had a blueish tint. Since then they started adding something to improve the appearance. Now it tastes good to me with or without the fat content. An article I read yesterday said that children who drank whole milk rather than reduced fat had fewer weight issues as adults. When I was growing up milk meant whole milk. I don't even know if there was any low fat milk available except powdered milk which was terrible. I have still not completely been convinced that fat is good, or even ok. But it does seem that as we started to emphasize low fat eating, people gained more weight.

Speaking of which, my weight stayed at 189.2. We had a good casino day and stayed late. We were both very hungry and didn't eat until 8:30. I had eggs and bacon again. I like that they have all day breakfast.

Carol: so happy you are back down below 190 again. You can stay there!
I am 158 this am. A few days of OMAD did that, but I must not do another. So I should either fast today completely, or do 2MAD.
I am thinking of mixing up the 2MAD by having a late breakfast and early dinner at 3 pm.
I will see what DD has planned for the day. Mixing up the eating times seems to be fooling my body a bit too, and I am doing better. I was fine last night. I ate about 3 pm, and didn't snack. I went up to bed early, but didn't really fall asleep for a while. but no issues with not eating.

I will get out for a walk in a little while. I didn't go out yesterday, it really rained all day and I was exhausted after work. I am really having trouble with how tired I get with only a few hours of work. I must get into better shape. But I can't leave everything until November when work is done.

Mad, my normal eating schedule is late breakfast and early dinner. 9-10 AM and 3-4 PM. Probably 4 days a week, and the other days I veer from that schedule with 3 meals. I haven't done OMAD for months.

I am late checking in today. Got up early and it was a good thing because DS and BIL went to vote and she called a little before 8 am and asked if I could take her 9 am hair appointment since they were 25th in line from getting to vote. So I made a cup of coffee to take with me and rushed out the door since I live almost 30 minutes away. A lot of us older folks who always do absentee ballots here in TX are voting in person this year because we want to be as sure as possible that our vote counts. We don't trust the post office to get them where they are supposed to go.

Carol Sue It is nice that you and DH are both enjoying the casino now. It is much healthier for you not being so stressed over it. I'm glad y'all seem to have come to an agreement about it.

I changed my WII day back to Friday because I had forgotten that we go out to eat a lot on Friday's with DS & BIL on Fridays when he is off. He usually has every other Friday off. Fridays my weight will be different than during the week because I weigh much earlier so I might stop weighing everyday and just weigh on Fridays. Weight this morning was 187.2 down .2 from yesterday and I have now lost 20.2 lbs on WW. WW says I weigh an average of 1 lb a week. Since I'm so close to my goal of 150, I will be happy with 1 lb a week loss.

I talked to Baby Sister yesterday about the way I am losing on this and how I remembered how easy it was for her to lose on Dash Diet. She said her doctor back then had told her to get down to 120 and kept telling her not to lose any more. One day she went to see the doctor and she weighed 107. The doctor was upset with her and she told her I'm not doing anything but eating the low fat diet. She told her to eat some fat. However, she did tell me that now that she has lost the weight and does keto, she cannot eat a lot of fat or she starts gaining weight. So Fatmad there must be something about our bodies that just doesn't like all that fat. In fact, I remember the other diet that I did so well on was the original South Beach Diet and I think it was because it was low fat low carb. However, I've decided to drink the 1% milk because I think I need some fat. SBD did allow for 1% milk and my beautician says going fat free isn't good for your hair. I have always done great on low fat diets than I did on low carb especially with the high fat.

Since to day is WI day and we are going to the local steak house where we like to eat, I am going to make this my splurge day on pts. I am either going to get half order of baby back ribs or country fried steak. I will put 0 pt foods around it except for one dinner roll. I will drink lemon water as well which seems to balance out the calories/pts. I noticed some WW have a splurge day ever once in a while. Since I seldom go over my pts, I know it won't hurt. Plus I haven't been hungry at night, but eat a little something so I won't get hungry since I try to stay within 8 or 9 hr eating window. So today, I might see how I do with just a 5 or 6 hr window 2MAD.

Everybody have a nice day.

Trish, in the past, PA didn't have absentee voting unless you had a good reason, mostly being out of town for some reason. No early voting. I voted at the polls in 2016 and didn't like the crowds so when they introduced mail in we did it with the local elections and I'm comfortable with it.

I am envious of your sister getting so far below what the doctor recommended. I don't think that will ever be the case with me.

We received our check today and got our banking done. Things are falling into place. If it was up to me we would not go to the casino and gamble our money away. I only like it when we win, and we all know no one wins all the time or it wouldn't be called gambling. I tolerate it. Maybe if we went once a month I would think it was fun but that's not enough for him. As long as I have the money to pay the bills and buy what I want I go along with it. He will not gamble with money we need for something. One good thing about it is I get my way about most everything else because he doesn't want me to say we aren't going to the casino! LOL

Today I am down .4 to 188.8. I am thrilled that I have not bounced back into the 190s like I usually do. I had baked scrod for dinner with rice pilaf. It was so good! Unfortunately I was served a delicious roll with it and I ate it. And I had ice cream afterwards. The biggest difference for me is I am not eating in the evening or between meals. So I am not necessarily eating diet food but am breaking bad habits of snacking. That's because there isn't snack food here that I like. DH has snack food but none of that appeals to me. This is what I'm aiming for. I want to eat what I want without overeating and have most of my food contain nutrition.

Carol Sue You may have hit your way of eating as well. I like eating the way we are because we are eating what we enjoy. I also like one thing baby sister told me the other day, she said "don't call this a diet, call it a lifestyle". I figure she has done so well at getting down to normal weight and staying there she can teach me a few things to make it work for me.

I am so thrilled today because I really ate whatever I wanted yesterday at the steakhouse. This woe is working so well for me that I can't see myself eating any other way now. I got a 1/2 order of baby back ribs and I forgot to tell them to serve it with the bbq sauce on the side so it was covered with it. I got a to go box and cut it in half and put it in the box. Then I ate the other half. I ordered fried okra but was surprised that I didn't want half of it so probably ate 1/3 of it and I had mashed potatoes. I didn't know how to figure all this in pts, but WW site did have some other steakhouse pts counts so I took the one from one of them and figure that I went over by 10 pts yesterday for the whole day Which means I have 18 weekly pts left. Since always have 2 to 4 pts to roll over at the end of the day, I figure I will make up for them within about 3 or 4 days. I will have 3 pts to roll over today.

Weight this morning was exactly the same as yesterday so no weight gain and FBG was 103 so that is good too.

The chicken breasts I buy at the local grocery store are huge. So I took one and cut it in half and put it in the crockpot with French Onion soup and we will have that today. I have gone back to the 1% milk.

I bought a new coffee maker that will make a single cup of coffee or a pot of coffee. I have really missed my pecan coffee so now I can have that each morning and I can also use the single cup to make fresh cups of tea throughout the day as well. That was nice this morning. I also bought a silicone popcorn popper from Amazon so I can make my plain 0 pt popcorn in the microwave. It will be so much easier than dragging out the loud air popper. Dinner at the end of the 8 hr eating day is plain popcorn and a 2pt container of yogurt with blueberries so I can take my final pills of the day.

Have a nice weekend everybody.

Trish, I don't consider this a diet either. I eat what I want but don't overeat. If I want ice cream I have a small portion once in a while but not every day. It has become a habit not to eat after dinner but sometimes I do. Just not every day. I stopped buying snacks I used to buy like crackers. I don't need them. If I go to step sons my DIL puts them out and I eat a few. It just not a rule that I can't have them. No food is forbidden. So I never cheat or go off plan. The only thing that is off plan is overeating or stuffing myself. We will get there Trish!

I agree. We sure will. We both have pretty much learned what we can and cannot tolerate in our plans. Like my SC doc said, "Any diet will work as you can live with it". I can live with this plan. My hope is for the day it is actually a lifestyle so I don't have to track. I think the main thing I've learned is that I can have what I want and that doesn't mean I have to have gobs of it (overeat) because I can always have it again. Example, I bought my favorite cookie knowing that although a serving is 2 cookies for 5 pts I can be happy with eating 1 for probably 3 pts and get the taste I want. I think I can do that now, but there was a time I couldn't even have them in the house. Quite an accomplishment. I used to eat a 2 to 3 pt ice cream bar each day but I've lost interest in those now. Only like them in the summertime.

Weight is up .4 to 189.2. I don't know why, really. We went to DQ and I had a small cone but then I wasn't hungry for dinner. Its a fluctuation. Its still in the 180s so i'm ok with that. I will try to stay out of 190s.

My DIL told me every time she stops WW she regains but maybe she doesn't continue the plan on her own. Her top weight is 147, so she is just barely overweight.

I'n 159 this morning, but I will blame the carbs. I was really tired and wanted a "treat" for supper, so DD and I ordered from a local Indian place and had some delicious stuff. But I did eat it with rice, which I don't often do. And eating those carbs puts temporary weight on me, as the carbs hold water.
First day since I got home I have no work stuff, except a couple of pages to deal with. So I am doing housework. This is also good because its a rainy day, and I don't want to walk in this. I might do it for Buddy when he and DH get home this afternoon. He will need a good walk after the 7 hour drive, and I will do that for him.
I have less than 2 weeks of on call work now, and actually its just 9 days because I have a weekend off next weekend. But have 4 people due in that time, so expect some busy-ness. So getting my housework done is good. We never did get a professional cleaner in while I was working, (though I wanted one) and when I stop that work, there will be no reason to need one. At least I don't have to fire anyone, LOL
Even with short hair, Buddy does shed, I am vacuuming up enough for a new dog, as they say.
Have not had any time for this since coming home from our time away, so oddly enjoying myself.
I am not sure what I want to do for an eating plan. I want to lose it, but fasting has been my only successful method of weight loss, but I am not managing it well right now.
Willing to look at other ideas.
Thanks for letting me just blather on.
Hope we hear from Shay and Pipsicle today too.
Shay, maybe we can go for a walk again when I am done work.
