We had the sweetest surprise today. DH 3 grandchildren who still live at home in FL called us just to talk to us. These are the kids we took care of from the time DH and I married over 17 yrs ago and they lived with us in SC while their Mom went back to school to get her nursing license. Then the oldest boy lived with us when they moved back to FL because he had scholarship to college in SC. We really enjoyed hearing from them because we miss them so much. What a blessing.

I've made the last 3 or 4 days not snacking at night. I've stopped calling my evening snack a snack so that I don't eat out side of my 8 hr eating window. I just call it dinner so that it looks like I'm eating 3 meals a day although the 3rd is just a small snack. I am hoping to keep this 8 hr eating window going although sometimes like today I ate within a 7 hr window.

So things are going good so far.

Goodnight

Hi all, 155 today, after 2MAD yesterday, but careful low carb other than some strawberries. My eating window was a little longer than planned because of a surprise drive to another town. DH has not been feeling well, and we are pretty sure it is a flareup of his Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. (CFS from here on) mostly tired, achey, and while there is no fever, he gets feverish chills and hot spells. Then he got hoarse yesterday.
SO DD was coming back from the cottage, because we had friends going up to use it. So she got home, repacked and I drove her to other DD an hour away. So she could stay safe until DH has a test and result.
He has not been out much, less than me, so I really doubt he has Covid19, but frustrating for us. We are going to mostly isolate, and I will continue to mask, even outside and distanced from people.

Today should be a fasting day, so here we go.

You all have done so well, inspiring, thank you

Well, we had a bad day at the casino, which I expected, but my weight is down .8 and I got a good fast in. So I'm happy about that. I am happy to be back to 191 again.

Shaybelle, we have a limit on how much we spend at the casino, too. I think most people do but I know some who don't. If I win, I bring it home like you do. Most of the time DH reinvests it. Unless it's a big amount, then he brings it home. One time I saw a co-worker at the casino and she was waiting for midnight so she could withdraw more from the ATM. Apparently she had already taken the max for the day so she had to wait til the next day. I am not a gambler. If not for DH I would never think to go to a casino. We never gamble more than we can afford. The bills are paid first. The buffets are closed now. Who knows if they will ever open again.

I love rice, but it's a food I avoid because of my blood sugar. DH is a potato fanatic, especially fried, which are the worst. I used to love home fries when my mother made them but DH cuts them too thin so they will cook faster and I don't like them. I'm just tired of them over 38 years. When we do have rice I overeat it. I don't understand why Asians are so thin since rice is a staple of their diet.

Trish, I think you are due to lose soon. Your body is used to what your eating now. Maybe Wendie will change that. I think I heard of that. I'll have to look it up. I agree your 3rd meal is a meal. To me, a snack is food you don't need. If you eat smaller meals you need more of them. This plan has taught you a whole new way of eating that is working for you.

Ok. I read about Wendie. On one hand that is like a normal eater. They might eat more on a certain day under circumstance and not be as hungry on another. It won't kill you. But one woman said, it might lead you to stray from the WW plan as written. Not being on WW I often eat less to get a nudge on the scale like I did yesterday. Mad does it regularly. It is her plan. So maybe your body needs a change, but is eating more the change you need? Being an overeater, that wouldn't work for me. When I eat more I gain. To lose, I need to eat less. For me, I don't like the plan that tells me how much to eat. I can only go according to my hunger. When I eat that way I lose. If I eat beyond my hunger I gain. That is how I work. You have to do what works for you. You are not gaining. Praise God for that. Maybe Wendie is the answer for you. But one pound up and I would be kicking Wendie to the curb!!

Quick flyby as I'm headed out to the beauty shop and the store over by the beauty shop. I've got to get a birthday card for DS plus I want to pick up a few things especially salad stuff.

Fatmad I knew it wouldn't take you long to get back into the groove and get your scale moving back down. I hope your DH feels better soon and it isn't the covid.

Carol Sue I think I would be the kind of person who would want to bring the winnings home too. I am not sure about the Wendie thing either because I don't know if I would gain or lose. I have been thinking about it because I think I would have to do Green Plan in order to use that many points it calls for. Green Plan has 30 pts a day where I get 23 on Blue. The points on the Wendie plan calls for pts to range from 28 to up to a 34 on the high day. I still have to check some more things out concerning it.

Weighed 2 hrs early and won't count it because I'm sure it is false. It was 192.8 so I'm sure it would have been 190.8 by the time I usually weigh. FBG was 102 down from 106 yesterday.

Y'all have a blessed day.

I think increasing protein is the answer for me. I think the steak I ate yesterday made a difference along with the long fast. I got hungry but it was a good feeling.

Hello Everyone.

Patty - What a treat. I bet you had a smile from ear to ear. I like it when my kids call for no reason but just to say "I was thinking of you." That night time snack is hard to let go. I'm trying myself. My DH is like "why are we eating so late?" I'm like so I can go to sleep, wake up and eat what I want!

Madeleine - Great job on getting the scale moving again. I think I'm still hormonal cuz I ate more chocolate yesterday. Well either way there is only like half a bar left of the four but I think there actually might be another of my favourite candy bars in the box. I try to stay out of those boxes. TWO birthday boxes of candy. smdh. They call to me at night. The Tim Tams I can resist. I have 6 packages of them. The Mint Slices as well. I have 2 sleeves of those. The Violet Crumbles with the chocolate and honeycomb are the Devil! lolz I hope you DH feels better and its good that you have another DD with which your other DD could stay. As numbers creep up, I am thinking on canceling Thanksgiving at my house. Ugh. I live for the fall & winter holidays.

I am dithering about Thanksgiving. We are planning to go to the cottage, but with just 3 of us, maybe just have a plump juicy chicken, not a turkey. I would love to have others there.
DH illness is going to put off plans for me for a while. Won't make any plans to see anyone socially until he has a negative test. HIs test appointment is Monday. He is too sick to stand in line somewhere to get one sooner. We are in a phase two spike here as well, so being careful is more important than ever. Just a few weeks ago we had less than 100 new cases a day for a couple of weeks, now we are over 400 cases in Ontario today. A few weeks of this, and our hospitals could become overwhelmed. We will see what happens this week.

Happy to report breaking that 155 barrier and getting down to 154 today. Thanks Shaybelle about being so encouraging about the alternate day fasts.
These are really difficult, but have helped be get down again. Not quite at 150, but its in sight now. I would LOVE to be able to continue this until Thanksgiving (the Canadian version in October). Mind you, DD has not been here so I will have to figure this out again when she returns.
I did do a day with OMAD followed by 2MAD in there, and that may happen every now and then.
The other good thing I did for myself this last week and a half was eat carefully on eating days. I ate plenty, but did not pig out, and I stayed on the lower carb plans, except for fruit. Speaking of which, it is Saturday, so market day and I can stock up on fruits and veggies today.
I have to be careful. Actually doing ADF means I had only 7 meals since last saturday. so actual amounts eaten are low. DH does not have much appetite either, so I can
not buy the 2 for the price of 3 specials without wasting food.
I will think about this on my walk. Since I get to eat today, its a good day for meal planning.
IF I do 1 round of OMAD followed by 2MAd in the week, I get 7 meals, and it all fits into a week, and I actually eat 4 days.
I will make this my plan, at least for this week. But 2MAD today and none tomorrow, as I expect to be working all day, and therefore easily distracted away from food.

My weight is up .2 to 191.6. We went out to eat again and I had a steak salad. I'm really into steak these days. This morning I only had one eggs on a pancake. Well see if that pancake was a mistake. I slept late so DH made pancakes, which I rarely eat. When I got up I cooked an egg to have on top of one pancake. I hope the carbs don't give me the hungries all day.

Mad, I hope your husband tests negative for covid 19. They don't announce much about cases here anymore but when they do it's not spiking. They have increased the restaurant capacity to 50% from 25% so I think that's a good sign. From what I've seen here testing is drive thru, so no standing to wait. You don't get out of your car, but you have to have an appointment. I think you can go to a medical facility but you have to call and tell them you're coming and why. But more are testing negative than positive. So I hope he is negative, but he has something.

My doctor went scripts to go for bloodwork. I still have the scripts from when I cancelled in April and intended to use them. I was and still am afraid to go into the lab as they announced you could go there for covid testing. There's another lab but I would have to pay. I want free. They are probably testing for covid too. I have no choice but to take a chance. I'm sure they are taking precautions. I want to go back to the day when we could go anywhere without fear.

Shaybelle I think we have to work around those snack eating the best we can. There was a time when I wouldn't eat unless I was hungry that was mostly when I was single. Sometimes a bite of something would take care of me for years. I taught 5 yr olds in a Christian school when I was in my late 20s and I didn't eat until around 6 pm everyday. If I got hungry, during the day, those little kids would leave so much food on their trays that was thrown away. I might grab a bite of some finger food that would hold me over until my 6 pm meal but I didn't seem to need anything most days. I just didn't think about food as it wasn't that interesting or important to me. I had finally lost all the weight I gained when living with my aunt and weighed 150 when I married DH#2 and raised his 3 kids expected to provide 3 meals and snacks a day and guess who started gaining again. So we do what we have to do. I liked what Carol Sue said something one day about calling it a snack. So I decided that instead of calling it 2 meals and a snack that I would just say I'm eating 3 meals a day. One of the word games I play to make this work for me.

Carol Sue I'm sorry about the .2 lb bump but that might not be weight. You and I both get upset over .2 but we probably shouldn't. I wouldn't think 1 pancake balanced out with the eggs would hurt you.

Fatmad I knew it wouldn't take you long to get your weight coming off again. I bet you will see the 140s soon. I honestly believe that planning is the big key and you planning the 7 meals for the week will be a big help. Praying your DH tests negative for the covid. My BIL had to test twice and both times were negative and he had other problems. I still think that allowed him to give too much blood at one time for his age and then we took that trip and he was drained and bp crazy the whole time we were there. Come to find out he had a clot and is now on Eloquist. They aren't sure if he will have to be on the Eloquist for long but they thought he had covid but it wasn't.

Well we ended up going to Cracker Barrel yesterday and I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with the gravy on the side and I had mashed potatoes and green beans and a corn muffin. Yes high point. However, I sent one of the fried chicken breasts home with BIL for his lunch next week. Then we walked around in Walmart afterwards. I decided to try the Wendie Plan to see if my scale will start moving. I've dieted for so long that I have gotten myself into a place where it is just too hard to lose. I made yesterday my high point day and it was 36 pts and it was really difficult to eat that many pts, but I made it. Today is 23 pts. which will be easier. I like to make my plans in the morning so I've got shrimp scampi on linguini planned for lunch. I am switching to the 1% milk today and I made myself some green tea to make that my go to drink.

Oh I dreaded getting on the scale after eating so many pts and a lot of that was starchy carbs but I was surprised when I got on the scales and weight was down .2 to 190.6 and then checked FBG and it was 100. So just maybe this way of eating will work. Since I'm one of those people who can't handle not doing things perfect and I know it would mess me up to see a deficit in my pts, I changed my settings on my WW plan so that my exercise pts will cover my high pts days so that I won't have an over day on pts that I know would probably derail me. I think that is going to help me get my exercise in too because I want to be sure and have enough on this plan.

Have a great day everybody.

Trish, I am not upset about the .2 because the number in front of it is still 191. It's when it bumps up to the next number that it bothers me. I never used to weigh daily until I got this scale and I used to get annoyed when people got upset over .2. LOL. With my other scale it had tick marks but I only went by whole lbs or half lbs. And I sometimes went for weeks without getting weighed.

DH wants me to make stuffed cabbage rolls tomorrow so I have to go to the grocery store in the next town for ground meat. That's the only meat I will buy. I think I can get the cabbage locally. He wants me to make a lot to share with his daughter. She is back to work now after a few months unemployed. She hurts all over when she gets home because she's not used to being that active. She walks a lot at work so she will probably lose weight.

I don't think I want dinner today so DH will have to figure something out.

Hi Everyone.

Its a quiet day here. I was kind of cold so I've been all about getting warm. Its an up day and i've struggled today because I didnt plan for today. I didnt take the meat out of the freezer last night and so its been trying to thaw today. So I didnt cook supper in the day. I like to do it in the morning when I'm not hungry. But that's off today. I was up .6 on the scale today. Its the candy piper I am paying right now. But...I am ok with it. Those birthday treats were worth it. Its a journey. I will say I need to get my self sorted. I am unorganized since school started. I want to stay on top of school work and to do that, I've let some things slip and now I feel overwhelmed with it so I didnt do meal planning . Tomorrow I will sit down and do it for the week so its easier. Also the final candy bar is in the freezer so I wont have the visual temptation of it.

Madeleine - I hope your DH starts to feel better soon. I know it must be hard to wait but I truly appreciate the way you are handling this. I wish every was as thoughtful. How's his Vitamin D levels? We've been using the D3 drops. I put my youngest kids on it too. Any immune support I can think of. I do get it when you say you have to refigure out things when DD comes back. Same for me. I think mine is talking about trying to come home for reading week. I'm kinda not really wanting her to come back for that but I feel crappy of having her stay at the dorms. Is that bad mom stuff?

Carol - Stuffed cabbage rolls sound awesome. Its the one thing I've never tried to make. My DH is not a cabbage fan or tomato fan so I've never put it on the menu. Steak is yummy. Since you are craving it there is something your body needs. When you get that then you'll move on to something else. I'm a bit of a steak snob. So I only eat super tender and tasty bits with alot of marbling. I too go through those phases and then one day I just say "hmmm, think I'll have pork." *in my Forrest Gump voice.

Patty - Cracker Barrel. Dang. I love them. Chicken Fried Chicken sounds amazing. I've never had it but however you chicken fry a chicken sounds delicious!

Alrighty. I must depart. These sausages wont Instant Pot themselves.

Carol Sue Glad the .2 bump didn't upset you. I'm learning not to allow those things to bother me either.

Shaybelle The funny thing is that before I left home to go to Cracker Barrel I had already tracked the Chicken Fried Chicken because it was lower pts. DH and I got there before DS and BIL so had more time to look at the menu and I decided I wanted the bone in pieces of fried chicken but then I decided not to eat fried chicken at all. I decided to stick to my usually grilled fish. When DS and BIL got there and we were talking, I decided that I had wanted the chicken since our baby sister and her DH ate there with us when they were in town and I had been craving. I guess my tracking the Chicken Fried Chicken was stuck in my brain because I was surprised when I got it and DS must have seen the look on my face and asked if that was what I wanted. I told her not really but I realized I had ordered it by mistake about the time she said "That is what you ordered". It turned into a blessing because I knew I wouldn't eat but one of the fried breasts and I could send it home with BIL for his lunch next week. It still took care of my craving and I realized that it will be a long time before I will want it again. It was delicious.

I have found it just as difficult to eat the 23 pts today which is interesting because that is my actual daily pts allowed everyday. But I will meet it and keep it within my 8 hr eating window.

Edited: I added up the Wendie Plan pts to see what they come out to because I've been wondering if it could do it with WW all the time since it confuses the body so it doesn't know I am dieting. It just thinks I'm eating normal. Then I took the 23 pts X 7 days and added the 28 weeklies that I get and they come out to be almost the same. So I can do this all the time if I decide that I want to. I will do more research before I make that decision.

Trish: so glad you could enjoy your meal out and have what you were craving, but stay within points. You are doing great, and should be really pleased with that.

Carol and Shaybelle: I am with you, I love the cabbage and stuffed cabbage rolls, Sadly DH does not. I sometimes get takeout. I found some at a local shop (Shay, its Stemmler's in Heidleberg ) with some packaged ones, with just 3 rolls, enough for two meals for me, which were very good. I think I got them another time Carol was talking about making them, and I got a total "mad-on" for them. They were quite good, too. And naturally GF which was lovely too.

I am at 155.5 today, which is good. I did pretty well with eating yesterday, but stretched the eating window a bit far, more like 10 hrs than 8. I did well with two things; I had bought grapes for DH and had a few, but did not pig out on them. so that's good. I also was having chicken+ chicken with rice soup for supper (not cooking since DH not really eating much besides soup. I put the extra chicken in the soup and that was pretty good. But then got down to the bottom of the bowl and it was mostly rice. I put that away to put on the dog's food today instead of eating a 1/2 cup of rice that I neither wanted not needed the carbs. Another good move. Overall I did not stuff myself. So I am not worried about the gain above 155 with eating, I know it will come down over the next few days. Fasting today, will be distracted with work.

Mad, you are doing very well. You will be back to 150 before you know it. We can struggle, but then we set out mind to it and succeed.

I am shocked to be down 1.4 lbs this am, 190.2, but it seems that eating the hamburger with nothing else helped. But I know I'm not going to eat like that all the time. I felt thin this morning when I got up but didn't really expect this. My stomach is growling but I don't feel hungry. I just want my coffee. It would be great to be in the 180s when I go to the doctor.

Step daughter will be coming to get cabbage rolls today and wants to check my phone to see why I'm not getting notifications. I'm concerned. She was at a bridal shower yesterday. I don't know the details but I'm wondering how many people, masks, or distancing. It probably doesn't matter because she is back to work too. She says she's not exposed to the public this time but there are other coworkers. DH feels this is his daughter so it's ok but she's been around so many other people. People are starting to act like this virus is gone.

Trish, I am totally confused with what you are doing with the points but it sounds like you're eating more to try to trick your body. I've heard that works but anytime I eat more I gain. But that might be why WW tells you to eat all your points. I'll be curious to hear the outcome.

The chicken fried chicken sounds good.
