Trish, that is great that purple is working so well for you!! 186!!! That's great. I hope to be close behind.

We had steak for dinner. I looked up the nutrients in steak and I think my body needs all those nutrients. I felt so good and invigorated since eating dinner. We just had salad with it so I may cook some veggies to have later.

I don't know what it was that I had but I'm glad to show it the door.

Down to 190.6 today. There's something about eating steak!! But this is where the problem starts. There seems to be a force field that won't allow me to cross over to 189. Or if I do, it lasts for a nano second. If I'm very diligent I can make it happen.

I never cooked those veggies last night. On one hand I'm glad that I didn't get hungry and completely forgot, but on the other hand, would I have forgotten if it had been something else? Like ice cream? I think not. We have no ice cream in the house and DH buys this cheap ice cream that doesn't really draw me in. It isn't even ice cream. Its called frozen dairy treat or some such name. I need chocolate syrup and whipped cream to get it down. But he likes it so that's ok.

He also buys these cookies that are just ok. They are not worth the calories. If I'm going to fall off the wagon I want it to be something that's worth it!!

HI friends: I am back after enjoying a weekend mostly off line. I did not get my laptop out of my backpack. We had several big walks/hikes. I did not sleep as well as I would have liked, but otherwise it was lovely. DH accidentally elbowed my in the face when we were moving around. My cheekbone is bruised, but its hidden by the mask, so no one will know unless I tell them. I did overeat and eat a lot, and I am 159 today. So back to fasting today. I have an osteopath appointment and some afternoon work today. Tomorrow a few more visits. None of my people have delivered yet, so I will be busy the next 10 days on call. Lots to do.

Trish: you have trounced your way into the 180s now and doing awesome. I am thinking about what I need to do differently to get myself down and be able to stay down.
Carol: I still think its worth getting tested, but glad you are feeling better. Always wonder how people are getting sick when being so careful!
I am planning to get my flu shot asap, will call the pharmacy today and make an appointment.
Big Hellos to Shay and Pipsicle

Well, time for my walk. DH is still at the cottage with Buddy, but I need to make myself go!

Hi Gang.

Welll....I didnt over eat thanksgiving food but I did eat loosely. I sorta fasted ...lol.....this weekend. Its all good. I am trying to meal plan now. To compensate for the loooonnngggg weekend of willy nilly free style eating I will lower my carbs for the rest of the month. Yes its necessary. I sat eating Swedish Berries/ Swedish Fish (USA) out of the bag. And Tim Tams you guys, I ate 3/4 of a sleeve of that chocolate.. Phantom something was on this hormonal weekend.

I'm adjusting to the weather change. I'm in an apt building now that controls the heat . I DISPISE that because I am hot flashing or something but that uncontrollable heater is just baking the crap out of me. I have to leave the darn window open with a fan going to sleep. I'm glad I can do that at least. Nothing new on the home front that way. My list of chores seems to grow. I know I should just take the time to totally unpack but I truly dont have time. I will try to get ahead in French to do it.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Madeleine seems like you had a great weekend. I didnt get online that much either. It was the first time my family had Thanksgiving apart. My DD stayed on the phone to me. My middle DS didnt even call but I messaged him and he messaged back. I guess its true about when a son finds a wife/common law wife that things change. He had Thanksgiving with them. We (the "in laws") do NOT agree on social distancing and the spread of Covid. My DD goes to school in a hotspot area. I told her that we were not going to have a formal dinner. My DS's gf's parents think I am overreacting and paranoid. They told my DD that they would have come to get her if they had KNOWN that I didnt want her to come home for some turkey. I'm just going to breathe. They can think what they want. Not my business about what they think is going on and therefore no additional energy should be expended on it. lol

Carol - Steak your magical meal! I say fire one up about 2x per week. LOL I really want a nice grilled piece of steak. DH and I had this SAME discussion. I noticed the same word "dairy treat" does that mean that its so much crap in it that its not classified as ice cream now. Just a "frozen treat" lolz Yeah. Mine isnt even hard like ice cream. Too much carageenan or whatever its called.

Hi Hi to everyone else. Hope you all had a great weekend as well.

Mad, I did check around to see if there is anywhere to get tested locally. The ones that are doing testing are not doing it at our locations, so I would have to travel a bit . If I were sicker or if DH were showing signs I would go through my doctor. But he has a tendency toward overkill. Going further than needed. I understand he has my best interest at heart but since I am recovering nicely I choose not to and hope that's not a mistake. I'm wondering if the vitamins I've been taking helped me to bounce back.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself but unfortunately we can't seem to do that without an up tick. We need to emulate children. When they are having fun we can't get them to stop to eat without a fight, and they are usually burning lots of calories. I don't remember when and how that changes.

Hello Mad and Shaybelle. Glad y'all enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Not sure what DH and I will do this year. We have been invited to my nieces but she lives a good 4 hrs away and we were so worn out the last time we went that we have decided not to go. She is going to have a lot of other guests that weekend so we have decided to make a trip sometime in the spring when DS and BIL go when things are in bloom.

Shay I have a son whose wife doesn't allow him to have anything to do with me. They split up for a number of years and she thinks I lied to her when he was having an affair. Of course, I didn't know but she didn't believe me. They finally got back together and I am just glad he is with his kids and grandkids now. The other son calls me and his wife and I get along pretty well but I don't ever see them. Talk to her on FB. DD lives in AR but we talk once a week and text most days. DD are closer.

Mad So glad you enjoyed your time at the cottage. Sounds like you are going to be busy. It should make your time until you retire pass quickly. It is true that I had to stick with it until I found what would work for me.

Carol Sue I hope you will be able to keep losing and get into the 180s.

I am so thankful that the other woman on the FB WW 60+ group shared about her experience with the plans and how purple is working better for her. I talked to her on FB last night and was surprised that she is 70 and turns 71 in December. I really thought from the way she talked that she was in her 60s. Once I wrote a lot of people shared with me that they are losing on the Purple plan better. I couldn't sleep last night and watched a woman on YouTube giving advice on how to do Purple free foods. She has a problem with carbs, but she found that sticking with the whole wheat/wholegrain carbs she isn't as sensitive. I'm finding that using those carbs help keep me regular plus I think they are the key to my weight loss. She also says although we are not limited with portions on the free foods, but she figures like I do that nothing is really that free. If she eats more than 1 portion she counts pts. Sometimes she has to guesstimate but she does count it. I personally don't think I have to eat a whole portion just because I can. Example, a whole serving of oatmeal which I love is too much for me so I just eat half. I eat half the yogurt in it which means 1 pt instead of 2. I do that with snacks foods too although I don't eat them as snacks, I usually just add them to my 3rd meal of the day.

New low again this morning is 186 even. FBG is 101 so it is adjusting to the new plan as well. BP was great at 119/79 and I'm feeling great. I couldn't sleep last night although not sure why. Water/ice dispenser stopped working on fridge and DH was trying to figure out how to fix it. YouTube is great for everything. Come to find out it may have just had to be unplugged so it could reset itself. Plus we are going out today to vote and then go to Aldi's and local store. So mind just wouldn't shut down. So didn't sleep very long so I was surprised how well my numbers were this morning. So far I have lost 5 lbs this month. Those of you who have walked this walk with me understands how good that sounds to me. The biggy is that I don't get hungry any more and no cravings.

Have a great day folks.

Shaybelle, my last apartment the heat was included in rent which was good, but they decided what day to turn it on and which day to turn it off. We had a thermostat that we could adjust the temperature. But the dates of turning it on/off did not relate in any way to the weather outside. So we had some very cold days.

Trish, I hate to keep repeating myself about how well WW is working for you. But it really is. I hope DH is ok adjusting to some of the changes.

DH says its chilly and windy out today but for some reason I'm really hot. My temperature is good though. Its just that I wanted to ride my recumbent bike for a bit but I don't think its a good idea for me to get overheated right now. So well see how I feel tomorrow.

Today went well. We stood in line for about 30 minutes to vote, not as bad as some as I heard that in one county here in Central TX had to wait 5 hrs. While standing there DH decided he wanted to go to Sam's which of course is across town. So he went into Aldi's I didn't. We came back on this side of town to go to Sam's and I wanted to go to the HEB which is across from Sam's Club. However, I don't know that store and it is huge so I came home without some of the foods I wanted to get because I didn't know where to find them. I made oatmeal for breakfast so I wouldn't get hungry while out but I forgot that I have a 1/8 measuring cup and got that instead of the 1/4 cup so I had a very small amount of oatmeal with 1/2 c yogurt which was 1 pts and enough chia seeds to be 1 pt. So I was getting very shaky so we stopped shopping and came by KFC and got lunch and came home. I ended up going 2 pts over my daily pts. It is so easy to work around things with the 0 pt foods. So I still have about 32 weekly pts. Not sure how the fat and sodium in the chicken will work but at least I only had 18 pts for today. I will still go by the HEB by the beauty shop before I come home Friday and we will go to Walmart to get the foods we need from there along with our prescriptions that we need. Also my should go ahead and get our flu shot and the tetanus the doc wants us to get.

I hope all of us have a good nights sleep.

It sounds like you did have a good day Trish. You went over 2 points, but if you were doing blue you would have points left. So its not like you overate. This is why they give you the weeklies.

I am down .2. 190.4. I thought I would be up. I am in my trouble zone. I wanted ice cream last night but I fought it. DH made hamburgers for dinner because I had some ground beef I wanted to use up. He bought slider buns and made tiny hamburgers so he ate two but I had one. We had vegetables with it. He had Brussels sprouts and broccoli and I had lima beans and also some of his vegetables. After that I wanted something else even though I wasn't hungry. I hate when that happens because its almost impossible to shake. I just have to eat something to get rid of it. So before bed I had some scrambled eggs. This is similar to what Pipsicle talks about. So I didn't keep my fast but scrambled eggs were a better choice than ice cream.

I got over 7 hours sleep but I'm still not getting good sleep. I spend too much time in light sleep. Very little deep or rem sleep. I don't know what to do about that. I don't want to take pills but I do take Tylenol most nights. I don't consider it to be insomnia because I do sleep but this sleep tracker on my Fitbit tells me my sleep is poor.

We might have running around to do depending on what the mailman brings.

Trish, we don't have early voting in PA except for mail in ballots. Our county had a problem with them so we have not received them. I really do not want to be in the crowd at the polls on election day so I hope they come.

Carol Sue Glad your weight is coming down. I don't mind you saying my plan is working for me. I am so excited about how it is working too. I have searched for so long for the right plan for me and I actually have found it now. I never lost on LC the way I am now on this. I like eating all food groups.

I've enjoyed ice creams etc but I have decided that I need to start thinking in other directions to help DH with his decisions. I need to figure out some healthy desserts that we both can eat because of his BS. He relies on his ice cream to much and is now eating 2 a day instead of the one and his FBG bounces up too high at times. I can make some healthier ones for both of us. WW has a lot of recipes for fruit desserts that would be better for us both than the ice creams or diet cakes I eat.

My sleep is crazy too. I think eating the snacks I used to eat put me to sleep. Now my stomach is so empty and I don't seem to need the sleep or at least can't go to sleep as easily as I used to. Reminds me of how I couldn't sleep when I was actually doing low carb correctly. I finally took 2 Tart Cherry pills last night so I could sleep.

The big test for this Purple Plan was my weight this morning after eating takeout yesterday and weight stayed the same. I even saw 185 flash by before it settled on 186 so that is great. FBG was up a bit but not surprising because of the time because I missed my low making that not a problem I suddenly realized this morning talking to DS that this is actually the way I ate when first diagnosed diabetic and got it under control within about a week. To me lowfat is so much easier to do than low carb. I realize like the lady I watched on WW Purple YouTube, My carb sensitiveness is to simple carbs not complex carbs. This diet is similar to the DASH diet baby sister was on when she started losing weight and the doctor would tell her to stop losing and she wasn't dieting any more. She finally told me she lost all her weight on that diet but had switched to keto afterwards.

DS has already lost the 3 lbs she had gained getting the shots. She isn't really counting pts although she said she is going to stay with WW. She is just tired of counting anything right now. I told her I just want to learn how to eat the foods that I like healthier, lose weight and be healthy. I don't really care about a lot of recipes etc although I found one I want to try because I think DH would like it. He loves French onion soup and I saw a recipe using it to make a chicken breast recipe. I used to use a lot of soups to make recipes when I did WW in SC mainly because I could make enough to send to school or work with DGS for his lunches.

Got to get busy. Have a blessed day everybody.

Hi friends: forgot to weigh this am, (that's a new one) but did OMAD yesterday. Today I am also doing OMAD, but ate an early supper. I figure that might change the times I feel hungry tomorrow and I might be able to do an overnight fast. I had lots of veggies today so doing well that way.
I get very tired very easily. I am not sleeping great, although not really badly either. I did get out for a good walk today. Yesterday I was too tired when I got home, so I made sure to do the walk in the morning today.
I am sore from my osteopath appointment. Some new muscles got worked. I really felt it while doing the exercises he gave me too.
Sadly, he feels some of the mobility issues with my neck may not be solvable after the car accident in '95. The goal will be to maintain the mobility I have at least, and maybe get a little improvement. He is not one to have you come back every few weeks no matter what, so he is not trying to get his client base only from repeat customers. Thats ok, but his treatments are very different from massage, and I would not mind having them every couple of months maybe.

I am going to get into the hot-tub now that supper is done.

Mad, it sounds like you are doing well with OMAD. And getting good results from the osteopath. I guess there is bound to be some temporary muscle discomfort. No pain, no gain.

We had steak again for dinner, with green beans and DH had some fried potatoes. Now we have eaten all the steak I had in the freezer. From now on I will buy it once a week so we can eat it fresh. I could eat it more often but I can order steak salad when we eat out.

The mailman disappointed us, so if he brings the check tomorrow we will have to do our banking in the morning and go to the casino in the afternoon. I will be very tired by bedtime.

We did receive our voting ballots so they are filled out and ready to be mailed.

Trish, lately we have heard so much that low fat does not work for weight loss. Well it seems to work for you! We are all different and what works for some does not work for all.

Well, the steak did it again! I got a 1.2 lb drop and am at 189.2 again. Will I be able to hold this? I don't know what I do wrong. Maybe I get too sure of myself and start back with old eating habits. I need to keep that in check.

Our check didn't come again today. If it doesn't come by tomorrow DH will have to call them. Two different mail men in Pittsburgh were caught on tape throwing mail in a trash can. Who knows how many important documents were in that mail? I sure hope it didn't include our check!

Carol Sue I sure hope your check wasn't in what was thrown out by the postman. Things are so whacky right now. I hope it shows up tomorrow. Congratulations on the 189 lbs. I know I don't understand how some of this weight loss works either. At bariatrics they used to tell me some times the difference was just a trip to the bathroom. LOL

I had a bounce up today to 187.4. It did come back down to 186.2 too but I decided to take the 187.4 and not worry about it. Like I said before I think these scales are going bad any way because they used to not do that. I didn't drink a lot of water yesterday and I used season salt on our steaks yesterday so may have used too much. I only salt the meat we eat so not sure what happened. Also DH and I half a steak and I didn't weigh it that could have been the problem. Another thing I'm doing is drinking almond milk which I hate and I think I gained weight on almond milk before. Switched to it because it is supposed to be healthy and is 1 pt instead of 3 pts for FF milk. I like he FF milk better so may just go back to it. FBG was 100 so that is good.

Hope everybody has a good day today.

Trish, my step daughter told me she developed lactose intolerance and only uses almond milk. She loves it but I tried it and I don't like it. She always used cows milk as a kid but got some stomach upsets. I love milk and would like to go back to drinking it every day. I think it helps with weight loss. When I had surgery I was limited on how much weight I could lift so DH started buying half gallons instead of gallons. I don't like to drink it because he needs it for his coffee and cereal. I might start buying 2 half gallons so there's enough.
