Carol Sue We seem to have 17 cases in our county but not sure where they are. Our Mayor has asked everyone to wear masks when out in businesses so we will. At this point, I'm not sure if anyone knows if it helps or not. People are confused. When it is okay to go out and riot but not do other things, you have to worry. I personally think it has become more political than anything else, however, I will day what he asks.

Weight this morning is back up to 201.2. I'm not surprised since I am eating again. I really think that big loss was probably due to being sick. So it makes sense because I wasn't eating a plan then.

DS told me this morning that she joined WW online. She is on blue so I went back on blue so we can do it together. She said I didn't have to but it will be more fun to do it together. She is still going for shots too. She is excited because she has already lost 3 lbs. I've decided that I like being able to track every bit I eat because I feel better knowing those things. I still can have the oats etc if I really want them but don't have to use them to replace the pts I lost. In fact, I notice I have a harder time using all of them when doing blue, but I do like having them. She did find that the stores here don't have as much of the WW foods in our stores here in town.

Carol Sue I guess you are going to the casino today. That is one of those things I don't really understand about all this covid thing. You can go to the casino, but I just heard yesterday that PA still can't go to church. Interesting thinking to me. Oh well. It is what it is.

We are staying home today getting ready for the trip this weekend.

Trish, the reason people can protest is because it is a right protected by the constitution. Indoor gatherings are limited to 250 people but the protesters are outside. I think churches in PA are open but with a limit of 250 people.

We will probably go to the casino on Thursday. I would rather stay home but I do what DH wants. That might not be right but I don't like conflict. I hope people have masks on like they did last time but when people see others not wearing them they stop wearing them too. I might go into the food court and read. There are never many people in the food court. It doesn't matter because if DH gets it I will too.

I think the masks keep sick people from spreading the virus. A lot of people have it but don't know it. There are a lot more people without masks and as a result the cases are increasing. I guess it's just a matter of time until one of us has it. I hope I'm wrong but what happens happens.

I think its great that your sister is going to do WW with you. I think I would do better having to count everything. It's better control.

It is amazing how much easier to do this WW Blue plan than it was with the purple plan. I have done so much better today and still have 3 pts that will roll over to tomorrow. I liked the purple plan and having more 0 foods but just not easier for me. I actually had to find things to eat tonight. Mainly because I didn't go to the store Friday when I didn't feel well. I haven't gone yet because of our planned trip tonight. We will go Friday to get things we will need for a few days when we get back home next Monday.

I haven't done any exercise since I got sick. Just haven't had the energy or the want to I guess. That has got to change. I am enjoying the YouTube videos again for blue plan to see what others are eating. There are some fun foods to make for blue plan. In fact, I couldn't decide what to eat to end my evening and I didn't want to heat up a tv dinner or anything like that so I had watched the lady I like to watch make French toast for her breakfast this morning. So I made French toast for dinner.

Well it turns out DBIL job sent him to get a covid test this evening. His doctor says he always gets an upper respiratory infection this time of the year. So we won't know until Thursday that he doesn't have it. I hope we know early enough so that we can cancel too and go another time when they are going. So we will see. I doubt he has it since he wears his mask everywhere he goes. We are all praying that he doesn't have it.

Was back up to 157 this am because of a few cheats. I fasted 24 hr and had a good supper, fairly low carb and high fat, thanks to DD who had made a lovely chicken salad for me to eat when I got home from work. She has found out that her next regular job, that was to start in November (Antarctic cruise line) is almost certainly not going to happen either, so she is job hunting, even as we speak. She has already got one job a few weeks back, that then disappeared because of the virus. She is looking for just about anything now.
DH and other DD left this morning, with the dogs, for the cottage. They arrived safely. I am going up on Friday, taking DD's fella with me.
Very tired, did not sleep well last night.
Covid19 cases here still light. but just found out another nursing home has an outbreak, mostly among staff, so it likely came in that way, not from a visitor. (we have just re-opened to visitors. they have to have a negative test first)

Trish, hope you are safe and well, and glad to hear the young people have found jobs.
Carol: it is fair to open to family if they are also careful. You are also social distancing at the casino (I assume) but not with family at home, I presume.
Pipsicle: I can understand feeling discouraged. I know you struggle with thyroid issues. Have you been tested specifically for Hashimoto's? not just for thyroid hormones (like TSH and T3) but specific markers for Hashimoto's. I'm not a doctor, but its worth requesting. You struggle so much. I wonder too about other auto-immune issues that may affect you. Not sure about how much tests are or your insurance status. I hope you find a path that works for you.

Mad, We go to the casino on a weekday because it is less crowded. They have a lot of the machines turned off and chairs taken away to force social distancing. You are never sitting next to someone else. DH and I can't even sit together like we used too. We go into the Food Court to eat and it is very empty. Precautions are taken with employees. Most had masks on last time but around here I have found that when some stop wearing masks then others stop too. It is probably a risk to go, I know.

Fathers Day was the first time anyone was here, and it was Step daughter and her husband. We were spread out, no hugging etc. Same at step sons house.

Trish, I hope your BIL does not have Covid 19 and if he does it is a mild case. I don't think wearing a mask helps you, it keeps you from spreading it to others. That's why they want everyone to wear them but many don't want to wear them if it doesn't protect them. When I go out and see people without masks I stay away from them.

They said you are contagious for a few days before you feel sick and some never feel sick. During that time you spread it to an average of 15 people and each of them spread it to 15 people.

When I read online about our churches, it said there is no singing because singing forces the droplets out of your mouth. The same happens from yelling, like the protesters do.

There are still cases in our county but they never say if they are in our town. I try to be careful everywhere I go.

The scale is up .4 today. I am trying to be more aware of how much I'm eating. There is no more deli meat or baked goods that I like in the house and I won't buy any. no more chocolate. Those are things that I eat when not really hungry. No snack food, so if I do eat, it's real food. I will stop buying sausage when this is gone, but that Jimmy Dean sausage is REALLY good! It is high calorie and fat and I think carbs are more harmful to me. I'm going to do this if it kills me!

Fatmad Good to hear from you. I heard this morning that the cruise ship industry says they are going to probably lose half of their business this year. I do hope your DD will get another job soon.

Carol Sue You know better than anyone else how you eat that makes you feel better. I'm learning to recognize how I like to eat. Remember my SC dr. said any diet will work if you can live with it. I see no reason why you and I can't figure out what works best for us. We know we have our hubbies to deal with and we can work around that. I intend to do just that. We know what they like and don't like; what they will and will not eat and surely we can work around that.

My DH and I do like a lot of the same foods although I like more veggies etc than he does. I think I do better on a lower carb plan but not low carb. I like too many foods that are not low carb to just go strict low carb. I don't really like nut milks and I need the dairy for my bones so I will have to either choose to use the pts for whole milk or drink FF milk. By process of elimination and trying both the blue and purple plan, I know that I will do better on the blue. Now I will work to make it my plan like I see a lot of these others do online. I know you will figure out your situation as well.

This week has been hard for DS and me both. First we had our 1st Father's day without Daddy and then tomorrow will be the first birthday without him. He would have been 97 tomorrow. I know the 1st year they are gone is always hard and this has not been like any others any of us have known with all this covid and other goings on here.

The switch back to blue went smoothly as weight is still the same 201.2 and FBG is coming back down to 105. I haven't eat breakfast yet. I'm going to be doing this more with IE than anything else so will eat when I get hungry. DH and I will have to decided by tomorrow if we are going to my nieces if DS and BIL can't go. We could go any way but not sure we will. We may wait until they can go too. We only had 17 active cases yesterday and today I checked and we have 50 here. They are already asking people to wear the masks hoping they won't have to make it mandatory. Even that could change by Saturday and they could stop us from traveling. So everything is iffy.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Trish, I very high % of people tested for covid 19 are negative and I hope your BIL is one of them. Do you really think you would be stopped from traveling? I know they are recommending you stay home but I didn't think they were stopping anyone. You have been looking forward to this trip. I hope you can go.

Carol Sue We have reservations that can't be cancelled after Thursday. BIL was told the test takes 48 hrs so we will probable have to cancel our reservations before BIL finds out if he has it or not. They can't figure out where he would have gotten it because he wears a mask everywhere he goes. It is required on his job. The only place he can figure that he could have gotten it if he does was when he went to give blood about a week ago. Of course, we've never been clear on the mask keeping us from getting it. Some say no and some say yes. I'm not sure.

I don't know that they can or will stop people from traveling, but we haven't had a lot of cases until now, so I'm wondering if they will ask people not to travel. We can cancel and then if BIL doesn't have it, we can make another reservation and go. I just know we don't need to lose that kind of money. Of course, we can always stay with my niece if we want. If not, we can always go another time. DH SIL in FL said yesterday that they are giving out fines for being out without wearing a mask. $100 first time and $500 the second. Her husband said there are some people who can't breathe co2 back into their lungs so it can't be mandatory like that but I hear they are doing it. I would assume you would have a doctor's note to carry for something like that.

DS said that BIL sounds like it is just his allergies but they gave him a 5 day treatment just in case. I'll see what DH says when he gets up.

I didn't know you made reservations. I thought you were staying with family. From everything i have heard, a mask does not protect you. That's why so many people don't wear them. It protects you from spreading the virus to others. It only works if everyone wears one. I stay away from anyone not wearing a mask. If someone without a mask should cough and droplets land on a surface and you touch that surface then touch your face or eyes you can get it. When I am in a store I carry a disinfecting wipe and use it to open doors on freezer and dairy cases. You really never know where you can pick up the virus. I am trying to get back in the habit of wearing my glasses again to stop me from touching my eyes. They are weak and I can see without them and I don't like wearing them.

Yes Carol Sue, we have reservations. DH says we are going. He said that I never get to see my niece from Detroit so we will go whether DS and BIL can go. I'm glad since it is my youngest nieces birthday celebration. I really look for DS and BIL to be able to go since we think he just has the upper respiratory infection and with him on the 5 day Z-pak he should be feeling a lot better by the time we all leave Saturday morning. I hope they can go because DS doesn't get to see her oldest daughter very often herself especially since she moved to Detroit.

It is really weird trying to use 23 pts today. I never want to cook anything at night so I just had a protein shake with berries for supper and I am not going to want to eat anything else. I still have 7 pts that I haven't used and I can only roll over 4 of them and there is no way that I will use them this week.

I don't remember what my Wt was yesterday but it is 192.4 today and I think it was 193 something yesterday. I can't check because my phone is on charge.

Trish, if you were not hungry it is better to throw those extra points away. That's my opinion although I know WW thinks you should use them.

We have a list ready for Wal-Mart plus I know he is going to want to go to the casino. I want to go on the way, instead of making 2 trips. Plus I want the carpet cleaned so it will dry while we are gone. I don't know how we will fit this all in.

Hi all: back down below the 156 today. I did eat some GF toast during the night, was having terrible insomnia and that can help me sleep. I did get back to sleep after eating and having a warm drink. I was thinking to fast today and until I get to the cottage tomorrow night, will see if that works, or if I do OMAD tonight with DD.

About masking: there is no controversy about it, scientifically.
THe N95 masks (and there are some close alternatives, like A95s) do both, prevent you from exposure to the virus and prevent you from giving the virus, when used properly. (wash hands before putting in on, wear over mouth and nose, use consistently, and when removing, was hands, take off and place in a safe container, wash hands again). So about 99% safe. But expensive, hard to get and should be saved for the medical professionals unless you have the alternatives. And have access to a way to reuse and clean them.
The more common masks (regular surgical, regular non-medical or cloth masks) will protect you from getting the virus only about 15 to 25 % less often. (depends on exposure, and level of filtration in the mask). But if both you and the person you are speaking with are wearing masks, transmission, even with a long exposure and close exposure is under 5%. (yes even with cloth) If you also have some distance and short exposure, that works about 99% of the time as well. This really depends on everyone caring about each other. This is why I think it needs to be regulated and enforced to some degree. I am upset that its only recommended in my province, and not mandatory. Our regions can also regulate it, and one nearby county has done that, because of lack of leadership on the provincial level. (Here in Canada, each province is in charge of health care, our federal government does not act locally, but can help with policy etc)
So overall, if almost everyone wears masks, (there are people who cannot wear them, and those same people should avoid public outings in general because they are very high risk) the transmission rate will be very low.
There is NO EVIDENCE that wearing a mask makes you more likely to get the virus if you were exposed.
But people must wear their masks properly. I sometime see people with the mask under their nose, or they just put in over their mouth and nose with a hand while speak with someone. Thats not helpful at all.
I hope I am not breaking rules about politics, because I do not see this as political at all. Its scientific and these facts are well known from many years of studies, and reinforced by studying Covid19 transmission specifically.

I really hope all of us can stay safe, but I do worry about friends in the USA and Brazil, where the infection rates are spiralling out of control. I hope and pray common sense and science will soon prevail and people can be social but without high risk of infections.

Fatmad Thanks. I do appreciate you sharing that with us. As you know, we hear everything and that is because it has been politicized so much. No one changes my mind politically either way, as I only care about staying as healthy as possible. I will be wearing mine to stay as healthy as possible.

Carol Sue I hope you can get everything done that you want to do especially if your DH wants to go to the casino. I agree that I don't have to use all my points and I don't if I don't need them. I ended up with 2 rollovers yesterday. In fact, I have built my weeklies back up to 41 that I will never use.

My weight hasn't moved. It came back up to 201.2 and seems to be hung up there. I figure I will get to moving them again next week. 2 days riding in a car going and coming home this weekend won't help a lot.
But when I get back home I will get back on my routine of exercise etc.

We will go to Walmart when DH gets up to get his meds and pick up a few things. We will get his KFC today and I have more than enough pts and will still have rollovers. I want to get everything washed and most of my packing done tonight except for last minute things.

Pipsicle I hope your week is going well.

Trish, I am VERY glad your BIL tested negative!! Now you can go and have an enjoyable vacation. I hope the meds he is taking get rid of his respiratory infection.

Mad, masks are mandatory in my state but it is not enforced. One grocery store chain is enforcing it but 32 people have filed a lawsuit against them based on the Americans With Disabilities Act. Wal-Mart does not enforce it and each time we go there are more and more people without them. The state mandate says that if people cannot wear a mask for medical reasons they are to be permitted in the facility without proving their disability. I have never seen anyone with a mask other than plain surgical or cloth.

We went to the casino and lost, but all others wore masks. I hope DH gets tired of losing.
