Trish, I am not eating a lot of carbs but I consider low carb to be 20 gm or less and I am higher than that. I think MCT has other benefits. I might be wrong about this but all I care about is I am sticking to this plan and I'm losing which is different from the past. The MCT is bought and paid for so I will continue taking it as long as I don't have bad side effects. I will reevaluate when it's gone. Maybe it's a placebo making me think it's helping. My friend took a supplement she got from QVC. You took it at bedtime on an empty stomach and ate no sugar. She swore that it worked for her. I told her if I ate no sugar and went to bed with an empty stomach I would lose weight without the supplement. So I'm not recommending this for anyone else but I'm afraid to stop taking it in case that's why I'm losing.
We ate our gyros. I didn't eat the pita, just the meat and tomato, onion. I didn't eat all the meat because I was full. I didn't plan on eating the pita so it helped that it was soggy. LOL I got full and couldn't eat anymore. That is new. I can usually eat and eat until I'm stuffed. I could have eaten more this morning but not now. I want to feel hungry by bedtime. That works best for me.
My BIL won't take the recumbent bike. I hope to find someone. I hate to just junk it, even though it is junk! LOL
I hope your pork turns out good. I never cooked it on top of the stove.

Carol Sue I understand about the MCT oil for you and I wouldn't stop taking it either as long as it works for you. I'm just glad you found something that works for you. I might could try some pills but if I used actual oil, I would have to count the points and I hate to use my points for it. I will continue working with my diet and exercise.
I did finally used the recumbent bike today. I ended up with 5 exercise pts. I haven't been faithful with my bike this past week so I'm not sure that I'm going to meet my 30 goal pts. I lowered my goal back down to 30 from 35. My first day back on Blue Plan has gone very well except it is the same as before. I have 4 pts rollover to tomorrow. I just can't eat all the points. So I am finished for today.

189.8!! I was really surprised that the scale went down .2. I went off the rails a little and ate some candy and potato chips. Not a lot, but I haven't been eating any. I caught myself and stopped but I was not hungry when I went to bed. It's only .2 but it put me in the next decade.
Trish, the pills are not really pills but capsules that contain the oil so you would have to count it too. I was reading more about it and I don't think it is putting me in ketosis because I am not true low carb, but reduced carb. It can make you feel full so you eat less and I think it could be doing that. It said with some people it could induce hunger. I think it is curbing my appetite. It can also improve gut health, lower lipids and I need both of them. I don't know what's going on with my legs but something is improving them, relieving pain and making them feel stronger. So I honestly don't know if the MCT is doing anything or if I'm just controlling eating better. What I'm taking is a very small dose compared to what they recommend with the oil. It said I would have to take 40 capsules a day to equal the max dose recommended for the oil. I am taking 2-4 daily. So maybe it's having a placebo effect. Whatever it is is just fine with me!!

My sodium is too low. In fact I have to go back in 2 weeks for blood work. I think I'm going to have to come off of the chlorthylidone (misspelled) because he said it is drawing the salt out of my body. He said I can use it 1 or 2 days a week and then see what happens. However, he said that my sodium is close to being low enough to cause me to start having seizures. So I'm really afraid to continue using it. On the way home DH told me that Lasix takes the potassium out instead of the sodium. I've pretty much decided to stop taking the chlorthylidone and if I see that I really need something, I will write my doctor and ask him about switching to Lasix. It is easy to get potassium in my food and pills which you can't do with sodium. I told Doc that I feel like I eat too much salt and my legs swell. Even though he says I can take it 1 or 2 times a week, I am really afraid to take the chance.
Trish; just remember to let your doc know. I assume you are on this for blood pressure, how was your BP when at the docs?
I am delighted for you both with those A1Cs, such good news. The WW is working really well for you, and you are managing to stick to it better than ever. I think the shots and previous plan got you started, but you needed to switch it up. Now you are going great.
Doc wants us to get tetanus shots because neither of us can remember when we last had one. I think the last time I had one was when I took some college classed when when my kids were teenagers because I had to have shots because I hadn't had them since my teens. My kids are in their 50s now so that tells you how long that has been. He is so good about helping us with meds so he told us to check with the pharmacy. He said we can get them cheaper. Plus he is going to give us samples of the Farxiga and Eloquis now that we are in the gap. Nurse gave us a coupon that we can check to see if we can get help with the Eloquis. She isn't sure if it will because most of them won't help Medicare or Medicare Part D patients but this looks like it might. We checked on it at Walmart pharmacy about the tetanus shot and we can get it there and if the girl read it right it is free with our part D. However she said if we do it now there is a lot of paperwork to go through to get it so we decided to wait and see about getting it later.
Overall our appts went very well.

I also just want to say about immunizations: they may be protective for Covid19. There is some evidence (not the best yet, its early days) that people who immunize regularly (like yearly flu shots) are less likely to get Covid19 if exposed. There may be lots of reasons, (one is that people who immunize are also more likely to wear masks, social distance and do other preventative things) but the thought is that the immune system gets a "workout" with immunizations and reacts better and faster to new viruses etc.
As you may remember, I rarely get sick or get colds even.
So I am all in favour you you and DH getting immunizations if your doc recommends too. I am not trying to be political, but people who are overweight and diabetic are at higher risk, and anything we can do to protect ourselves is usually worth doing.

Hi folks, using DH hotspot. I accidentally left my own cell at home. Its not a big deal because DH and I are now on a family plan and share data, and we got a big data plan. Also, we realized that with the new plan our billing date is the 19th, so partway through our time here we get a reset, so we have lots of data for the week yet.
So I feel like I can log on.
It may seem funny, but I brought the scale with me here. I have been having difficulty managing and was worried. I was right. I am over 160 now.
I am not doing well with fasting either. I am just not busy enough. Also, with going off the Wellbutrin, I think my food fixation is worse, and I have lost the appetite suppression that went with it.
Overall am sleeping better than before since being off the Wellbutrin, but any disruptions leave me tired and sluggish. I am realizing that for me, feeling tired and feeling depressed are so similar, its hard to tell the difference. Except, when I think about it now (I am tired) I am not feeling depressed at all. I ran through a depression score and did not score at all high, so feeling ok about that. But still low energy and hard to motivate myself.
Carol: what type of MCT oil do you buy? I am thinking about that, anything that helps lower my appetite. I am happy for you if that helps your pain. I am delighted you made it back under 190 too.
Pipsicle: its so frustrating to work so hard at it, and not have success. I think overall you are improving your health, and the NSVs have to do most of the time.
I agree with Carol, exercise is for general health and well being, and toning (which makes weight loss look better) but not weight loss.
I have been doing more yoga again here at the cottage, but at first, I was sometimes too sore to do it again the next day. SO I am done yoga 5 out of 7 days. But that is better than doing it so rarely that counting was useless.
I have also played piano 4 days out of 7. Again, better than nothing, so I am counting that as a win as well.
I am a little bored. I am hoping for a cousin to come visit later this week or early next week. She lives about 90 minutes away, which, in Northern Ontario terms, is practically next door. We usually see each other once a summer. I suggested that after we are here a week we are pretty safe if they don't want to socially distance while here, and they agreed, so hope to see them soon.
I am working on a fast today, will let you know if I succeed at all!

Mad, the MCT capsules I bought are Dietworks, 1000 mg. From Walmart.com. One day I took two AM and two PM. Now I take two PM only. It would take 14 of them to equal a tbs of oil and the dose for oil is work up to 2 tbs per day. What I read yesterday said it decreases appetite for some but increases it for others. I don't know if it's really doing anything at such a low dose.
I'm glad you're keeping up with your exercise but sorry you are bored. You are used to being busy. Maybe you need a new hobby.
I'm going to try making some applesauce in the slow cooker. I did it years back but that recipe had sugar. I want to try unsweetened. I will make a half recipe to start. DH said he will add his own sugar. Something different to do.

Carol Sue Yeah on the new decade down. Doesn't matter it is just .2 lbs. It is in the 180s. I am so very excited for you. It is wonderful how the MCT oil capsules are working for you and it appears you are getting a double blessing with the suppressant and painless legs. It works for you and that is all that matters.
Fatmad Glad to hear from you. Thanks for the info about the vaccines. We will get it soon. DH said that we should have gone ahead and gotten the vaccine when we were at Walmart. We will probably get it next time we go. It is good that the depression is better without the Wellbutrin, however, sad that you lost the appetite suppressant part of it. I would still be taking it if it had worked for me but it didn't so I had to let it go.
Weight back down to 195 this morning and FBG 102. BP was 102/57. I don't think I should be taking the chlorthylodone as a fluid pill with my bp being so low without it. So it is a good thing I saw the doctor when I did. I won't be taking it any more.
I am back on the WW Blue plan and I have our meals planned through lunch and I still have 14 pts left for the day which I won't come close to using. I had my eggs, bacon and 1 sl toast with banana for brunch. The nice thing about the Blue plan is that most of the 0 pts foods are my faves so easy to keep pts low. If I keep having a problem using all the pts eating like I do, I will probably use the diet plan to work at making this way of eating a lifestyle so I don't need the website and I won't renew my membership when my contract runs out. There are online FB support groups that now longer go to WW that I can join.
I've been taking the Lipotropic pills I was taking before I went to bariatrics for the shots. DS called me this morning and told me that the liquid Lipotropic she was taking has changed. They have added the B-12 to it and it is now even advertised as being the exact same as the shot that people are paying as much as $40 a shot for. She has an extra bottle and I am getting it from her Friday and I will start taking it. I will start ordering it too. Interesting thing is that I had been thinking about going back to get the shots along with my diet plan but now I won't have to. It will cost me about the same as it would for gas and shots so it will come out even. She takes it 2x a day but since we took the shot once a week, I will probably take it 1x a day. Plus she takes the pills too and the shot. I don't know if I will do both or not. It will depend on how good it works for me. I want it for the B12 since it is supposed to help with the neuropathy. I hope to slow down or even stop the neuropathy from getting any worse.
Have a great day everybody.

Trish, many older people get B12 shots at the doctor as the body loses it as we age. I used to be against supplements but now I'm not as long as it's not harmful. Doctors prescribe meds that sometimes cause problems but never recommend supplements. I realize they are not approved by the FDA. I do research thoroughly because I have to be careful about all the meds I take. Some things I found have interactions. But I am at the point of feeling that losing weight could lessen some of my medical issues and I might not need some of the meds, so I will do whatever it takes. Seeing how well WW is working for you, Trish, has given me incentive to try harder.
Trish, I am making scalloped potatoes for DH and they use the same sauce I told you about. I turned my back for a minute and it was boiling too hard!! I caught it before it was ruined. So glad I didn't have to start over.

Carol Sue I used to love scalloped potatoes, but haven't had it in years because DH doesn't care for them. He did tell me recently that he would eat mashed potatoes. I was raised in TX and we whip our potatoes but sometime this past year he told me he didn't like them that way. He just like having them boiled, salt and leave in some of the water in it that it was boiled in and mash them. Since there are no added calories to it, I decided that would make them on 3 pts for a serving so it works. If they were whipped, I would want more of them so that works out better for my weight loss.
My grandmother had to go get B12 shots. I don't think it will hurt having the B12 in the Lipotropic liquid since we do have a harder time making it as we get older. It is strange knowing I'm going to be 77 yrs old and I am now considered "elderly". LOL I find myself talking about elderly people, but I don't feel old so I never think of myself as one of the elderly. I don't mine being 77 yrs old as it is a blessing many don't get to see, my Mama didn't. I just want to be a young 77 yr old. LOL I am working very hard to do that.
I got to see my trophy with "You Made It" sign because I made my 30 weekly exercise pts. I don't know why I work so hard to make that. It isn't something I could show anyone and it won't be there when I go back to the site, but it just makes me feel sooooo good about myself.
The new FB blue support I joined added me late last night. I haven't heard from the other one yet. I never saw the others I was on before, but this group is really super. They really are better because they seem to take their diet plan more seriously than the other one did. Th other one was always looking for ways to eat junk, but this one works ate more nutritious eating.

Apparently I ate too many of those scalloped potatoes because I only stayed in the 180s for 1 day. Ha Ha Ha!! 190.4 this morning. I hope I don't start bouncing. I didn't feel hungry when I went to bed so that's a clue that I ate too much.
My DH likes any kind of potatoes. They are not a side dish for him but the whole meal. He likes whipped potatoes but I prefer them just mashed dry. His favorite is fried, the least healthy. I like them the way my mother made them but not the way he makes them.
Trish, I don't think elderly starts until you are 80. We are just "older."
Its good that you work toward seeing that WW award. When I went to meetings they gave out stickers you could stick in your weigh in book. That felt like kindergarten but I guess they wanted to give you incentive.
One wall in my living room is all mirrors. It makes the small room look bigger. Yesterday I noticed myself in that mirror and thought I looked thinner.
BBL
Last night I had another NSV. DH made popcorn and asked if I wanted some. I turned it down, but I really didn't want it. I ALWAYS want popcorn. It just didn't interest me!

HI again friends: Trish, I agree, hanging around with people who are not serious about their weight loss plan may not be helpful. You don't have to leave the group formally, but just stop going in and hang with the new crowd, and see if they are uplifting.
I have always found this group uplifting and supportive, so I come back.
Carol: not snacking is huge. I do find I have to distract myself at times. I may take up knitting again, both for the sake of my hands (getting stiffer) and to keep myself from snacking. Some how, the urge to use them to put food in my mouth is still there, even though I gave up evening snacking ages ago.
I am 159 today. I will have to eat carefully today to avoid going up into the 160s again.
I will likely shop today, and want to plan the meal for when my cousin is here. We have plenty of meat in the freezer, so its a matter of deciding.
I also have some konjac noodle macaroni pasta (penne noodles actually). I am thinking of getting them ready to eat and making some mac and cheese and some macaroni salad with them.
In theory, they are fine for low carb but I do not find them very helpful for weight loss. I often have an uptick after my "spaghetti" dinners. But it would be nice to have mac and cheese and pasta salad again.
I think I am having an issue with portion control when I do eat. I go a little nuts. So I will plan the mac and cheese for lunch, and freeze what I don't need, and have my stir fry beef and broccoli for supper today. Will use rice cauliflower instead of rice to go with that. Will keep me low carb for the day, but should be filling. Here is hoping.
Have a good day friends.

Mad, portion control is my issue. That is a big part of why I'm losing. When I cook, I have a little container I use for my carbs, which have to be limited. It holds 1 cup or less. Then I have to be very mindful of not going back for seconds. I have been cooking lots of vegetables with it to make me feel full. But it's not automatic. I have to be mindful to not eat second helpings. I would rather have a second helping than dessert.

Carol Sue Remember the up is temporary. I have to tell myself that as well. My weight stayed at 195 today. That was good but also bad because today is WI and I sure hated putting that on the WW ticker. But I want to keep this honest. I know it will be down in a few days, but just hated seeing it. I still kept my 12.4 WL and have to remember that. I always bounced when on WW so should be no surprised.
Fatmad Portion control was my problem with calorie counting. I am learning to portion control with WW because I've noticed that when I track my food on WW that much of the 0 pt foods have a portion that makes it 0 which makes me assume that if 4 crackers are 1 pt but 5 crackers are 2 pts then if I go above the 1/2 c of a 0 pt food then it is going to cost me 2 pts. This may be the one thing that will keep me doing WW online when my contract runs out. As long as it works, I will keep doing it. Enjoy your time with your cousin.
I got Amazon notification on my bill with them. You know DH opened us a credit card with Amazon and I only use that card for Amazon. I have a limit as to how much I will spend there. I was waiting for it to go out before starting to order again. I'm glad I did. Yesterday they only showed me the 15 day bottle but today they had the 30 day bottle so I ordered 2 of them. DS is giving me a 15 day bottle tomorrow when I see her at the beauty shop. I wanted to buy it but she insisted it is a BD gift since my BD is next weekend. I haven't decided if I will continue the pills or not since I didn't take them when I took the shot. This is the same as the shot but you take it every day instead of once a week. She does all 3 but just not sure I should. I'll see how I do with just the liquid. DH wanted me to get the injection and he would give it to me, but I didn't check it out. Last time I looked those were for animals and I don't know if a human should take it or not.
We are having chicken breast for lunch with veggies. Chicken breast meat are all 0 pts. In fact white meat of chicken and turkey plus fish are all 0 pts. DS said she cooked herself a bunch of ground meat so she could keep them in the freezer and heat one up when she gets hungry. If I liked turkey ground meat I could do that but I would have to doctor it up some how and not sure I could. Beef ground meat may be 1 pt an oz and Mama burned me out on that when I was growing up.
Have a great day everyone.

There is a new "health food" store on the island, I saw it today and stopped by, and got some MCT oil. It comes as an oil with a measuring cup at the lid. I will give this a try.
At this point, I can drink it straight, in the small amount I am taking. Glad not to have yet another pill.
There is another "health food store" in the opposite direction, in the biggest town on the island, but they are only doing online shopping right now. I was going to order later today, but had to go for groceries anyhow, and saw this new place open, Its in a smaller town. Very helpful guy,
Have everything prepped for my beef stir fry tonight. Funny how cooking is easy when you only cook 3-4 times a week, and have lots of time to do it, and have someone who appreciates the food.
I remember how wearing it was to cook every night, and half the time, half the family complained about the food.

When I was first considering MCT oil I noticed these capsules and bought them as most people put the oil in their coffee and I didn't want to do that. I think the oil is more potent than the capsules. Hope it works out for you. My appetite has been coming back yesterday and today. I hope I don't have another gain tomorrow. I have only been taking it once a day and might have to go back to twice a day.
