Carol Sue I'm not going to change anything at least not at this time because I'm afraid to rock the boat so to speak. I'm afraid if I change anything that I will stop losing. So I am going to keep doing what I am doing.

Trish, even worse, if you change anything you might start gaining! Yikes!! I get to weigh tomorrow morning and see if I've lost. One thing about daily weighing you can see right away if you're not losing and adjust. Right now I feel that I'm down, like the difference between bloated and not bloated. I don't know what I'm going to do moving forward, weigh daily or not. I can remember going weeks without weighing because I felt fat and didn't want to see the number. Now it was very hard to go all week without weighing. It's hard for me to grasp that there are people who don't even own a scale. They only get weighed at the doctor. I bought my first one around 20 years old and have had one ever since. It makes me realize how obsessed I am about my weight.

I was just thinking yesterday that if it was not for this weight I would probably not have the medical problems I do now or have to take most of the meds I take. That would be such a satisfying goal, to get back to normal blood sugar and blood pressure. To get rid of all the meds I take daily. It is so strange that my doctors never mention that, but just keep writing prescriptions. I need to give more thought to this.

I am starting to realize that you are losing because of WW. Limiting how much you eat based on your points. I need to find a way to do this without actually counting anything, like points or calories. I've tried both before unsuccessfully. I can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. I think my answer is a form of IE, only eating when hungry. Stopping when satisfied is my problem. I tend to stop only when the food is gone. When I did my first successful diet I ate 1 serving of whatever my mother cooked then left the table, never eating another bite until the next day. She cooked a wide variety including carbs like spaghetti and I never differentiated. I didn't measure, just eyeballed what I felt was a sensible serving. I never knew how many calories I was eating. I started around Easter and was down 25 lbs by summer. I exercised at the Y twice a week for 1 hour. I was really in control in those days and I want that again.

Carol Sue I identify with you 100%. However, I think one thing that helped us when we were young is that we were more active along with the fact that we weren't thinking about food. I am back to worrying about having to clock in my weight on WW. That is the only thing I don't really like. I never had to think about food because it was decided for me by Mama who cooked all the meals. I walked everywhere. When I drive through the areas where I lived growing up and think about the fact that everyday I walked that far, I can't believe it. In fact, I think some of those places were too far for a child or even a young girl to walk. We would never expect our kids to do that today. Plus we had PE and I marched in the band and then there was always a dance somewhere on the weekends. There wasn't any way for me to be overweight. LOL My weight started coming on in my 20s when I was sitting at a desk typing all day. Then when I married and had to stay home instead of going dancing and had to start thinking about what to cook for meals boy the weight really piled on.

Now I have been so brainwashed into thinking I have to at least eat 3 meals a day, I am finding it very difficult to change. I know I don't have to but I'm not sure how much of it is real hunger these days and not. I do know that I'm in a place where I am just so darn tired of thinking about diet and food... what to cook and what not to cook.

I guess I will change my WI day back to Thursday although I haven't been worrying about it. I just post a weight once a week. I notice some people on FB don't do it every week so I might night either. There was a time that I only weighed at the doctor's office, but DD changed that when she moved in with her Daddy and me and we dieted together once. She weighed all through the day. I thought that was crazy. Then I started weighing more often. Some diet I was on once you did a graft and had to weigh everyday and I've been stuck ever since.

WI today was 196.8 and FBG was 123. I think that is because I didn't get my 8 hrs sleep. I had to make myself get up this morning. My dishwasher stopped draining water last night and DH was working on it and I stayed up in case it rain over and he needed me to help him clean up the mess. I ended up going to bed at 1:30am. Way too late since I needed to get up by 8. Needless to say I overslept and drug out of bed. Now today is Sam's and Walmart day. Plus DH will stop and get KFC. God help me to be good today.

I guess this is y'all's casino day. Have fun and I hope good luck.

Have a good day everybody.

Yes, it was casino day and No, no luck. He took less money than he usually does. He had fun on one machine and won some but kept playing and lost. I think I am gradually convincing him to play less. Maybe some day he will stop but he is getting a lot of free play until the end of August. They give him free play because they know he will bring more money with him and they will get to keep it!

I have not eaten since noon so I will have a good fast til tomorrow and my weigh in.

I am up at 4AM. I couldn't fall back to sleep so I got up and got weighed. I am down 1.4 lbs. That's a good weekly loss but I wanted more. I guess that's better than seeing the up and down a few tenths all week but I haven't eaten since noon yesterday and I expected a whoosh. I also haven't gone to the bathroom for 2 days going on 3. I know, TMI. I don't feel constipated but I just haven't gone. I think I'm not eating enough vegetables. So now I have to decide if I'm going to weigh daily or wait a week again. I like to weigh every morning but hate the fluctuations.

Yesterday DH and I really went at it about eating. Before we went to the casino we had breakfast and then lunch. I knew the only options at the casino would be hamburgers or hot dogs so I had my leftover roast beef with gravy and some of DHs noodles. I was at 1082 calories and decided that was It for the day. At the casino he said "Lets go eat" 3 times. I said I don't want anything but I'll come sit with you. He said No, so he didn't eat. Many times I'll eat so he will eat but I was not hungry at all and I'm tired of eating when I'm not hungry. Oh the way home we bought ground meat, bacon and buns. He made a bacon burger. He offered me some but I was not even tempted. I can't continue to be a human garbage can. He has put on a good bit of weight and even his daughter noticed, but that's his issue.

I wish he would get over this need to keep me fat!! LOL

I was 157 yesterday am. Did not weigh today. I am working to settle down and not weigh every day. I plan to do OMAD today, we are meeting friends for drinks and supper at an outdoor patio this evening. If it doesn't feel safe we may order take out and go to their back yard.
When I say "drinks" it involves beverages, but I don't think I will be having alcohol. My liver enzymes are up again.
I am thinking to go off one of my meds, the antidepressant. Its the only thing I can think of that may be affecting my liver. Its not a common problem, but its listed as one side effect of this med. I have not had issues with depression for a long while. SO it seems this is as good a time as any to try going off. Warned DH and DD to watch that my moods do not become volatile which is what happened before. However, no teens in the house no, and work less stressful, at least it will be less stressful. I had two all nighters this week, which is 2 too many, not doing well with all that. But I slept well during the day yesterday, was up for about 8 hours, then had a great sleep overnight.
I am off for the weekend, then working another 8 days until 3 weeks vacation. Then just two months until I retire!

Trish, WW is working, but of course, sticking to plan is the issue with any diet plan, so if you can manage it, it should work well. It seems you are combining some IF by having 2MAD with your ww plan? is that right? If I eat more than 2MAD, I think I am eating ALL day, and even if the servings are reasonable, I feel overfull.

Planning a longer walk with Buddy today, DH has been walking him more because I was sleeping/sleepy so much this week, so I need a good longer walk. Looking forward to that.

Have a lovely day

I went to the bathroom then back to bed until 9AM and now I'm down another whole lb, so now it's 2.4 lbs down since last Thursday and I'm pretty happy with that! I guess I will go another week without weighing. It's been 21 hours since I ate. That's a long one for me and maybe a little too long but I won't be doing that every day. 16 hours most days with less here and there.

Mad, I hope you are able to stop your meds without incident. Maybe your odd work schedule had something to do with it and you're not doing that as often now. Good luck with it!!

This is a flyby. Headed out to beauty shop but coming right back home.

Carol Sue 2.4 lbs gone and for standing up to DH about your eating. As my previous BIL used to say to DH when he would tell him I wouldn't like something "He'll get over it". Actually, I think he will finally learn to accept it. After all you are choosing to eat healthy for yourself.

Mad Yes I am using IF but right now doing 3MAD 8:16 ratio but make the 3rd meal a snack. Usually try to finish the day with a protein drink to be sure I get enough protein. I will continue doing WW even if I don't stay on their website. I have the slider card now that I used years ago that worked so well with fiber. It was my favorite of all their plans and is similar to the plan I am on now. I believe by October that I will have the plan down well enough to for it to keep working and I also have all my old books to work with without paying them. So WW is something I will always do.

Weight was only up 1 lb today after eating the KFC. I ate the 2 thighs and then just put a finger salad with it and finished it with my NSA 3 pt ice cream cone. Then had my shake later with a serving of grapes.

I will eat my breakfast when I get home since I'm coming right back so I can stay on my circadian rhythm. That is one thing that is helping me to stay OP.

Got t head out. Y'all have a great day.

Hello Members, I am a newbie to this Diabetes Forum. A few years back I was active in another forum. Hope everyone is doing ok. I've been getting some amazing results from a Keto Diet with Intermittent Fasting.

Hi Avalon. Welcome to the Diabetes Forum. I'm glad you came back to 3FC. I do IF, but Keto is too harsh for me. I have a hard time giving up carbs. I do not eat a lot of carbs, but too many to be considered Keto. Do you use a daily eating window, or do longer fasts? I do a daily fast most days, but we have a member here who does longer fasts.

Trish, I ate and went to the bathroom so I got on the scale again and now I'm down another .2. LOL I hope I don't become obsessed with the scale, weighing several times a day!! My body wants more food but it's not true hunger, just my desire to feel stuffed, which end up making me very uncomfortable. I am working at breaking that habit.

Hi Avalon and welcome to diabetes thread as your return to 3fc. I tried keto for a while and like Carol Sue I like my carbs plus I seem to need them and do better eating a few grains. However, I cannot over do them either because they will show up in the diabetic numbers. I do WW Blue plan along with IF doing 16 hr fasts with an 10 hr eating window with 2 meals and a snack spread 5 hrs apart. I found that my bs readings are respond best to this way of eating. Feel free to share your journey with us.

Carol Sue Glad you are down a little more. I hope the nagging hunger doesn't linger. I ate one bite of a strawberry when cutting them up for DH and really wanted more, but I was afraid to eat any more for fear that would cause me to fall back into between meal snacks. I reminded myself that I could have some with dinner if I want. They are 0 pts so that isn't a problem but I'm only a few days into successfully doing my 10:14 IF that I'm afraid any deviation will derail me.

I called baby sister really quick while I was on the bike and ended up doing 20 minutes without even thinking about it. Remember I only plan to do 15 minutes a day. It is so much easier when talking to someone. LOL The thing I noticed today is that it was so easier than it has been so it might be time to bump it back up because my breathing was just as easy as could be.

Hello Wannabe and Patty, Thank you for the nice welcome! Appreciate it I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2008 with an A1C of 10.0, after that I was able to get my A1C's down into the 6.5 range with healthier eating. However occasionally my diet gets away from me and I have a relapse. In early June of this year, I had another one of my relapses and my fingersticks got up to a ghastly 369. In any case my improvement through the Keto Diet with Intermittant Fasting since that time has been remarkable. Here is my daily average fingerstick blood sugar chart over the past 2 months. I stopped all diabetes prescriptions on June 11th, so this is just due to a dietary change. The "heavy lifting" on my blood sugars took only about 4.5 weeks and I dropped my daily avg blood sugars from 320 to 120 in that time (which is kind of jaw dropping). My diabetes is basically in remission (as long as I watch my diet). Kind of amazing.

Your blood sugar improvements are really impressive, Avalon. It just proves that type 2 is a dietary disease. You were diagnosed the same year I was. I never knew my A1c at diagnosis because I was in the hospital having open heart surgery and my heart was their main concern, understandably. My most recent A1c was 6.2 but I believe it has gone a little higher over the past few months. My eating has been less than desirable through this pandemic. I am past due for bloodwork and a doctor's appointment for the same reason. Having you join our discussions will be a great incentive and learning experience for me!

Avalon Your numbers are awesome. I am glad you can do the Keto. I have no doubt that it works and would get my A1c even better. I got my A1c and every other number cholesterol etc perfect years ago on Atkins. It took me about 6 months to do and then I went right back to eating carbs and have never been able to do it again. I agree as long as you do it that it will work. We didn't know about IF back then but I do remember that I was never hungry. Great job. Congratulations.

HI Avalon, and welcome. My results are similar, but not as dramatic as yours. I was "prediabetic" for a long time, and was "trying" to eat low carb, but not always successful, my "addiction" to baked goods had me caving in frequently. So I maintained, and with metformin my sugars did not get out of hand. During my father's final health crisis and shortly after his death, the wheels fell off and I gained weight, getting up to 190. I also got sick myself.
During that time, I was doing an elimination diet to see if food affected my gut, and eventually started IF. Found out I had celiac disease, which has made staying low carb much easier.
So not quite Keto, but lower carb in general and 2MAD with some extended fasts.
I am so happy for you to have found a path that is working for your weight loss and blood sugar stability.
Hope to see you hear more.

Tonight was not low carb though. We went for dinner and drinks with friends, at a gluten free restaurant so I go fish and chips. Also had salad with it. And a cider for a treat. No dessert though.
I plan to fast tomorrow altogether. though.

TGIF friends
