Carol Sue I think when we eat out in restaurants that we probably should expect a bounce up in weight. I think it is the sodium and perhaps other preservatives in the foods. We could b even getting something like sugar or flour we don't know about. That makes sense when you think about how Fatmad has to be so careful with that when eating out because of the gluten she has to avoid. Remember the time she got something at a restaurant that served GF foods but she had a gluten reaction and figured someone had cooked something with flour in the same oil? I notice that every time we eat KFC that my weight bounces up a llb or 2 and it seems to take forever to get that weight off. My weight bounced up 1 lb from what I weight Monday at bariatrics and it still hasn't come off and I have even taken my fluid pill a couple of times to try to get rid of it and it was still there this morning.

I do feel good about eating only when hungry. It means I can eat breakfast when I want it and I don't have to when I don't. Last night when I went to bed I was thinking that I wanted a low carb pancake this morning for breakfast. When I was making my cup of coffee, I realized that I'm not hungry and don't want anything except my coffee this morning. Last night I told DH I wanted chicken wings today, but when I got up I decided to make home made low carb pizza for dinner. I'm not sure if this will be a OMAD or 2, but it doesn't matter because I'm not on a diet. I am eating the way I did when I was thin which was more like IF/IE before they had a name.

As I said weight has been hanging at 204.6 since the KFC Monday so it isn't coming back down like I want it to, but I've decided not to worry about it. It will come down when it comes down. At least I know I am doing good for myself with the fasting. Wouldn't you have loved to have known when we were young that the way we were eating was actually the healthy way for us to eat than the way "they" told us was? But we didn't so, but we do now and that is what counts.

Fatmad and Pipsicle

You guys have a great day.

Trish, almost all my dinners are restaurant food. I ate the restaurant pork chop dinner and the Wendy's dinner and lost weight both times. Also, the day I made spaghetti the sauce was canned and the meatballs were frozen, so processed food. I cannot use that excuse. DH doesn't want to eat my cooking anymore so I don't buy much meat. He wants only fresh meat , not from the freezer. I do have some meat frozen for hamburgers and I use that for chili and a potato and meat dish he likes. But I have NY strip steaks in the freezer that he wont eat. I have given up hope of pleasing him. He LOVES eating out in restaurants. In a restaurant we can each order what we want. I try to make the best choices I can. It is rarely fast food. He likes to sit and be served. I don't know how we got this way. If we are quarrantined because of the virus we will be in big trouble with no food in the house. Pizza delivery!!

Carol Sue Come to think of it when DH and I ate in restaurants the weight wasn't a problem. It is probably the fast food that has become the problem. When I did Atkins, I would go start shopping while he went to McDonalds's which was in with our Walmart in SC. I would eat Atkins friendly foods when I got home. Maybe I should go back to do thing that again.

However, I think I need to go back to learning how to healthier cook things that DH and I both like the way I did when I was trying to get back on low carb. DS eats a lot of processed foods which would be so much easier to cook. Maybe if I was learning to eat less, I could even do that. There is so many contradictions out there over what is and isn't healthy for us and perhaps it is just another one of those games that companies and people selling books sell us... like you have to eat breakfast and 3 meals and 2 or 3 snacks. I know when Daddy was going to CHF, they didn't tell him he had give up certain foods like they (tv shows, diet books etc) tells us.

DS got her first cataract eye surgery done today. She said she asked the nurse what she thought about this virus everybody is worried about. She told DS that she thought it was just a political thing. I noticed DH DD and the nurses there in FL seem to think the same thing. I heard that the Austin Mayor decided to not have a festival they have every year because of the virus. The people in Austin decided to go clean out the stores of products and quarantine themselves in their homes. That wasn't the reaction he thought he would get so now he is trying to get the people in his city to get out and go shopping. I haven't heard if he is have the festival now or not. Therefore, I've about decided that it is more hype than anything.

I am forcing myself to exercise trying to make it a habit. I told DH that I am going off the Bupropion cold turkey because I want to get my life back. He can watch me and see how I do, but neither of us expect me to have any problems. I wasn't on it that long. I actually felt good after my 20 minutes on the bike instead of tired. In fact, I actually swept and mopped my kitchen and dinning room floor and started cleaning out this room so I'm not sitting in clutter. I've heard that can make you feel tired too. I think it might be true. So I'm beginning to feel better already.

Trish please read about stopping Bupropion before stopping cold turkey!! You could have terrible effects including seizures!

I think the virus is real. Most people get a mild case but over 60 are high risk. It is much more contageous than the flu and there is no med like Tamiflu to treat it and no shot like flu shots. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The cold I just had was terrible. I don't want to get something worse. I'm not afraid of dying but don't want DH or I to suffer.

I think medical people never tell people to give up foods because they know they won't do it! I have heart disease and diabetes and no one ever told me what to eat. What I learned I found in books and online. I'm still learning.

Trish you could probably eat a piece of chicken from KFC but have veggies when you get home. That way DH could have what he wants, too. Or the days you get KFC eat light at other meals.

I just had dinner. I had a slice of leftover meatloaf from the freezer. DH won't eat it leftover so he had a hamburger patty. I also made scalloped potatoes from scratch. DH loves that. He had broccoli and canned beets. I had lima beans and canned beets. My total calories for the day were 1073. That number is at the mercy of the MFP numbers which I don't trust. Close enough. I have no other source. That is 300-400 less than I had the past few days. I feel full. I have decided if I get hungry enough that I think I have to eat I will eat vegetables. They will be low calories, high fiber and nutritious.

Trish: I really don't remember you complaining about feeling tired before your father died. That was why I was wondering about grief and depression.
I don't what dosage you are on for that med, but please go off it slowly and carefully if that is what you choose to do.

I was 151 again today, and fasted today until supper. But had an emotionally hard day, and decided to eat. Mostly ok food. But either way, only my hunger felt better, not my blues. Food doesn't help it, but I am an emotional eater.

DH and DD are two very wonderful people, fortunately for me.

Trish: I really think you should self isolate today and find out where and how to get tested for Covid19
You really didn't speak about this tiredness since your father died. Between the day your voted and your father died, you may have been exposed to someone who may have brought it back to the US. So many possibilities, but I have been reading that this tiredness is a hallmark. I really hope not, but truly, this is a newer symptom for you.

I am not weighing today. I did OMAD yesterday again, but at a lot. I am going to figure out how today will go but really not sure.
Out for my walk when its light.

Mad, I looked online and didn't see where there are any cases in the area of TX near Trish. In our area the criteria for testing are, fever, cough and difficulty breathing OR travel to an area where there were confirmed cases. They are not testing people indescriminately. We have been directed to call the doc or hospital if you feel sick and they will tell you how to proceed. I doubt it they would test her for being tired. This tiredness is recent, but it could be a touch of the flu or something else. She felt better yesterday. Hopefully she will check in today feeling better.

PA cases are up to 21 but all 300 miles from me in eastern PA. Nearby states, W Va tested 8 people. 7 negative and 1 pending. Ohio has some, but none in the area of the PA border. I have been checking daily. I feel safe so far.

My Wt is still up and I ate less yesterday, but when I got up my ring was tight so I did not expect a drop. I will continue as I have been.

Fatmad Thanks for thinking of me, but I don't think I have the virus. I was tired a lot before Daddy passed away but didn't say much because I had to do what was necessary. Some days I didn't think I could even go but I had to because there was only DS and me to go and I wanted to spend every moment I could with Daddy since I knew it could turn out the way it did. I spent most of that time running on adrenaline and I think that now that I don't have to do anything except go get me shot, the beauty shop and shop and take care of DH, it is like a let down.

Carol Sue You are right. I haven't heard of any cases in my area. When DH and I went shopping at Sam's and Walmart Monday people were not cleaning out the stores here like they are in some places. I saw a doctor say this morning that they don't expect much of anything happening here in the warmer weather and the warmer the weather gets the less we will have since they are thinking it is a seasonal thing like the flu.

As for me, I am thinking that I might have had a very light case of shingles because my right arm from the neck down to my upper part of the arm has been hurting like it did when I had the shingles in the past. I have very faint spots under my sick but no itching. That would explain the way I have been feeling too because the way I've been feeling is the exact way I felt back then. I didn't go to the doctor about it because they would only give me Gabapatin and it never helped with the pain when I had it before. I have found that Tylenol and a lotion I have does more for it than anything that the doctor did for me. Hopefully since I've had the shingle shot and it is a mild case it will go away before long. Although I do feel tired, I do feel better. Not sleeping all the time like I was there for a while.

I've decided that I just might be depressed so will work at coming out of that. I actually dreamed of Daddy and Mama last night. We were at the church where I went back to. I was in front of the church talking and when I got ready to sit down, I saw Daddy walk to the front row and sit down, but Mama was sitting on the back row. So I went and set with her. I got a call from Hospice Chaplain and she said something that made me think that Daddy was letting me see that he is okay and that he is okay with me going back to church there. Remember he and the Pastor had had a disagreement years ago, but the Pastor visited Daddy a lot while he was ill before he died and evidently Daddy had made peace about everything before he died. I know the pastor had worked very hard to make peace with Daddy long before then. So I think that will become very good for me. However, talking to the chaplain made me realize that I probably have been depressed. She said that she had heard many people say that their loved ones come to help them adjust to their loss of them. I've never really believed that but as I think back, I think I've experienced these type of things in the past so I am healing.

I think getting back into church will help a lot. Also organizing my house so I can have my DGS and his family over will help too. DS and I haven't been able for us to go out yet with or without our Hubbies but that will change once she has gotten her cataract surgeries over with and recovers from that. In fact, we have an early appointment for one of our times to get our shots next month and we plan to go out for breakfast that day. Starting with decluttering my house especially the room where I set all the time will help a lot. However, we do talk on the phone a lot each day that we can. We only have our husbands and each other here.

Carol Sue the kindle book on Psychology for us women is on strategies and I'm so glad that I bought this one. I got up this morning and my weight was us and I was so very upset, but while I was ready to just stop the shots etc, I said to myself "Don't give up". I read that several times in this book. Then I realized that maybe I do need the Bupropion. Maybe it is helping to lose weight after all. So I'm going to switch and take it with my main meal each day and see how that works. There really isn't any other reason why I should be gaining.

I had low carb breakfast with eggs, bacon, avocado and mozzarella cheese. I surely did want a slice of toast but decided to pass it up. I've got low carb chicken wings in the oven which I want to make a garlic parmesan cheese sauce to coat it with. I found a Diabetic low carb/keto recipe group on FB and I saw it on there. She used baking powder to make it crispier but I couldn't find any in the house so I'll have buy some for next time. Considering doing VLC or keto and start with AI. I'll take it one day at a time and decide later.

Hope y'all have a great day and stay healthy.

Just watched the local news which I seldom do these days and I found it interesting that my county and the one near by has not had any coronavirus at this point. I notice a lot of schools are closing down but so far all the schools here will still be having classes and one school in the area wants to know where people traveled while their kids were out for spring break before they will decide if the ones who traveled can attend school. I think our warmer weather is probably why.

Didn't do VLC today however, I do want to do my best to make this a 2MAD. Only carbs today were Great Northern beans but I actually felt a surge of energy after eating them. Maybe I have cut my carbs too far lately. I think I need to figure exactly which carbs I can and cannot eat. I hope by moving the Bupropion to main meal it will keep me from being hungry at night.

Oh no! I finally got into a good exercise routine but my rec center is closing due to the Coronavirus! I have physical disabilities that limit my types of exercise. Of the 50 cardio machines they have, there are only two that I could get a consistent good workout on without severe pain later. Sigh!

Pipsicle I'm so sorry that your rec center is shutting down. I hope all this changes soon and you can get back to your exercises.

I've had a good day so far. I had 2MAD and an Equate Protein shake. So things have been on track. I also took the Bupropion at lunch and I think it is going to work better for keeping me from being hungry at night. So I will keep taking it.

Carol Sue I looked at the other books of Felicia Urbon's Psychology books and the blue book is the first 2 books put in one. The other book about keto dieting, I got on the kindle. It is free and it might even help me decide once and for all if I want to do low carb or keto. I need to decide on a plan and stick with it. I am thinking that I need to eat less carbs but maybe not keto or Atkins.

Trish, I was reading about bupropion and being tired is not listed as a side effect but 5% of people taking it report being tired. So it is an uncommon side effect.

There is no virus in our half of PA but it keeps spreading in the east. We went to the casino today. You wouldn't think there was a virus scare! The normal amount of people were there and no one seemed concerned. No one wearing masks, or gloves. No one using wipes on the machines. I did see an employee spraying and wiping the machines which I've never seen before. At the buffet, it was not self serve. Workers wearing gloves were serving. I guess they didn't want everyone handling the utensils. The buffet was delicious. Our luck was not so good. I check online every day for virus updates and watch tv. I want to know when I have to worry.

I'm not surprised that you had a dream about your Dad. Now that some time has passed I think it will sink in that he is gone and where he is and the dreams will come. It sounds like it was a happy dream to comfort you.

Popsicle I'm sorry to hear your rec center is closing. Hopefully you will not lose any fitness you worked so hard for. Do you have any virus cases in your area? Did your daughters school close? None in our area have closed yet except for colleges. I hope this is over soon and we can get back to normal.

I am tired and ready to go to bed. I will write more tomorrow.

I guess the kids are happy to get an extra vacation. Will they have to make up those days at the end of the year? I also hope that all these closings and cancellations stops this thing in its tracks. I don't know what will happen if it just goes on and on. The vaccine is at least a year away. One case seems to rapidly turn into many more.

our kids get an extra two weeks off school, the concern is that travellers on March break will bring back illness. One of the cases in our area came back from Las Vegas with the virus, another from a Caribbean cruise. no longer only certain countries. SO far here its just been travellers, but in a couple of parts of the country, its spreading to people who catch it from the travellers.
I have a funeral to go to today with 3 hrs of driving each way. Its a work colleague whose father passed away. I really enjoyed him, met him many times, he and his wife lovely support of their daughter, my colleague, and as they got older, the moved here and she has helped them a lot. But the funeral is being held in her home town where she grew up. I am driving down with another mutual friend, so I do not have to go alone.
Well, I better walk Buddy before I go.
have a good day
