DH finally threw the pancakes out and I washed the dish!!

When I was cooking my chicken legs on the grill DH said they smelled good even though he won't eat them. Today he wanted to go to the store for chicken which to him is fresh boneless skinless breasts. He wants to cook them on the grill. I have some in the freezer but he wanted fresh. I bought some ground beef as we went to that store that has the best ground beef. I also bought some sliced deli turkey and had 2 slices for lunch. No carbs yet. I know myself and this won't last long but I will do it as much as I can.

I would like the chicken in the slow cooker. Probably not DH. He says he likes fried chicken but he doesn't. He likes grilled, but calls that fried. You have to know how to interpret his language.

I think you are doing well with this Trish. You have to consider that you might have a bump up from the day you use weekly points because that's the same as eating higher calorie that day. When I did WW I never used carry over or weekly points because I didn't want the bump up. I lost well, but didn't stay on it long. I never stayed on any plan long because plans don't work for me. Right now I feel like nothing works for me, but I know what works and I know what is standing in my way.

Carol Sue It is funny how DH think foods are cooked especially if hey don't cook much for cook just certain foods. Do you still use your stovetop grill? If so, maybe that is what makes him think it is fried. LOL I think it is great to be able to trust what you eat without a diet. It works for me short term but not long term.

I finally set my goal weight on WW to 150. They say for my age and height it should be 101 - 139 and I will wait and see if I want to go that low or not. I might would eventually try for 135, but don't figure I'll ever get any lower than 150 so will decide later.

I learned the way they figure the new SP is by figuring calories, saturated fat, sugar and protein. The higher the protein and the lower the sugar and saturated fat the lower the pts. Makes since. They also share that by eating at least 3 whole grains each day prevents diabetes etc. All that makes since. Of course they also took 100 calories and compared 3 different breakfasts to show how the difference in the foods actually figure into the amount of carbs making the point that not all are as healthy as others nor do they help you lose weight although the calories are the same because they have different nutrients therefore some don't cause weight loss at all.

I have learned this to be true the last week. This week of counting pts and trying to keep them low has shown me why calorie counting as well as carb counting and even the shots were not helping me to lose weight. Also makes true what Dr. Fung means by calorie in calories out doesn't work. I think you have to have the right nutrients.

Trish, sometimes I use a grill pan which is like a frying pan with ridges. You can cook steak, pork chops , chicken on it and it leaves grill marks. He calls that fried. Many meats that I cook I brown first in a bit of oil in a frying pan. He calls that fried. I tell him it is browned. But at the casino they have a huge grill where they cook chicken, steak and pork chops. I showed him the fried chicken and told him That is fried chicken.

I know a few people who do calories in calories out and it works for them. Everyone is different. Most people who want to lose weight know not to eat junk food or empty calories, but I believe that a person can lose and maintain weight loss doing that. Long term their health will suffer but some only care about the number on the scale or the number on the size tag. Like your NC doctor told you, any diet will work if you stick to it. The trick is to find what works for you and what you can stick to. If I follow IE and IF I can trust it to work. As soon as I say I can't have something sure as shootin' that's what I want!

I hope this continues to work for you, and you continue to MAKE it work. You deserve this. I hope we all find what works for us and succeed.

Carol Sue I thought that was how you grill. I have one of those pans too. I learned from you years ago to use it to grill pork chops and some fish that are good cooked that way. Being from TX, grilling on a grill at least once a week was a big thing. I never liked cooking on the butane grill DH bought one year getting ready for a hurricane because cleaning it after cooking is too much like trying to clean my oven. So this grill pan makes grilling easy. Not as good as the real thing but okay for us. I haven't tried using it for chicken legs but will have to try it since I don't like them cooked in the oven and don't need to eat them fried all the time.

Weight is back down 1.6 lbs to 203.2 this morning FBG 106. I just hope wherever we decide to eat today with DS & BIL that I'll be able to stay OP.

Headed out to beauty shop this morning I think we are going to talk to beautician about changing our time to an earlier time which will be nice because I can go to store after and get home earlier. I'm taking the earlier time today so I can make a quick run to that HEB over there and still get home to get DH so we can go back on that side of town for his yearly eye exam at 2. I like to go to that store because they will carry more of the WW foods I want to get. It will be a long and busy day today but so glad that we can get out that I won't complain.

I hope everybody has a nice day today.

Trish, I don't think you can cook chicken legs in a grill pan. They take a long time to cook to get them done inside. We have a gas grill outside that we rarely use. I light one side but put the chicken legs on the other side on low-medium then close the lid. They are not directly over the flame. It's similar to cooking them in the oven but doesn't heat up the house. I cook for 1 hour turning at 30 min. You could probably cook them in an air fryer.

My Wt is down but I don't remember how much. Less than a lb. Down is down. I slept more than 9 hours but it was poor. Not restorative. I feel rested.

We went to Wal-Mart because I had a prescription waiting. We got a few other things, bread, milk, eggs but only spent $17. Today they had cauliflower but no broccoli florettes, only chopped. We don't like chopped except for broccoli rice casserole. I haven't made that for months because it is hard to make a small portion. It tastes best with Cheese Whiz.

There are a lot of rivers and streams in SW PA. There have been 4 drowning in the past week. Maybe because it's hot and pools are closed. Sad for families.

Casinos are opening next Friday. I wasn't telling him but he just saw it on TV. I guess the good times are over for me. It won't be the same.

Carol Sue That is a shame for the families with the lost drowned members. So sad.

The air fryer would work grate for WW eating but DH didn't like much of anything cooked in it so wouldn't be worth buying another one. I can cook the chicken legs in the oven but I don't like them that way so I guess I will only eat them from KFC.

I did great eating out at Cracker Barrel. Their menu is kind of limited so couldn't get the over fried paprika chicken tenderloins that I waned to try cause they aren't on the menu. However they did have grilled chicken tenderloins that I got and 4 of them were 1 pt., green beans were 0 pts and the steamed broccoli were 0 pts so I had exactly 2 pts for lunch today at Cracker Barrel. It was nice to be able to eat out with DS and BIL again. We hadn't seen each others Hubbies since Daddy's funeral because of the pandemic. I really love eating the way I am now.

I was able to get a lot of things from the local store that I can eat for 0 to 1 pt. I am loving a little bit of quinoa, NF Greek vanilla yogurt and banana together for breakfast each morning. I don't eat much of any of it except that I do eat a whole banana and by keeping the portion of Greek yogurt to a minimum amount just for flavor the whole thing is only 0 pts. If Ican keep my breakfast and evening meal &/or snack low to 0 pts, then I spend most of the pts at our main meal at lunch. I am loving this. I think this is similar to the DASH diet that baby sister went on to lower her blood pressure and lost so much weight that she would go to her doctor and tell her I'm not trying to lose any more weight because the doctor would fuss at her for losing too much weight.

DH yearly eye exam went great. The ophthalmologist was happy with how well DH is doing and said that he doesn't expect DH to ever have any eye problems or damage from the diabetes because he is doing so well at keeping it in control. I am very proud of him. He said today that his bs runs between 130 and 150 which iso much better where than primary wanted him to keep it.

It has been a great day.

Trish, I didn't realize you got rid of your air fryer. I thought you liked it. That's how I am with fish. The only fish I will cook for me is grilled tilapia or salmon and DH won't eat it. All others I just get at a restaurant.

You really are doing well with WW. What did your sister have to say about it? Is she going to join you? She has done well with bariatric and might stick with that.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Carol Sue My air-fryer got a scratch in the bottom down to the metal and I was wasn't sure about using it so had to ditch it. DS lost a lb this week so as long as she loses weight, I think she will be fine as is, however, when I went on WW she did say that she might decide to do both if she has to. She could afford to do that, but there is no way I could ever do both. I think my deal with WW will be paying about $ 40 a month for WW when my 6 month special deal is over, so there is no way I could/would pay $100 for both.

I ended up with 2 rollover pts from yesterday YAY!!! Weight down to 202.6 which I think matches what I have on the sidebar info on 3fc since they don't help us track on a ticker any more. May have to figure out a way to keep up with where ticker used to be. FBG was 111. So all is good.

Grilled pork chop on the menu today with salad and veggies. I cooked some lentils this morning so that I can have a 0 pt serving with my 0 pt quinoa for dinner. I'm hoping it will be filling enough that I won't need a snack at night. I would so love to get away from the snacks so I can get back to IF with no snacks.

Hope everybody has a nice weekend.

Trish, maybe your sister could follow the WW plan without joining if she used the food list and knew the points for the foods she eats. I'm sure they try to have it set up so you can't do that. But if she is losing and wants to continue the shots, to for it. If it's not broke don't fix it.

The car show is starting next Saturday. The guy who runs it wants everyone wearing masks but the guys don't want to. I don't know how that will work because it's outside and masks are only mandatory inside. It is on the hospital property in the parking lot of out patient building so the hospital will have a say. We are also limited to 250 people and they often get 1000 cars there. I don't know how this is going to turn out. There's no way to stop people coming in. DH will be disappointed if this doesn't happen.

Weight is up .2 lbs but I didn't drink enough water yesterday. FBG 107 so every thing is good. I have lost and kept off 3.2 lbs this month which is great because I think I gained last month, if I remember right.

Church this morning and I already told DH I'm not going in at Walmart when he goes to get his meds. I don't have room in my fridge or freezer right now. I will need more of my milk but not until Tuesday so I will go Tuesday morning to the local store close buy and get milk and bananas for me.

Carol Sue glad weight and bs is good. Hope things work out for your DH to go to the car show. I would think being outside and some distancing would be acceptable, but who knows.

Blessed Sunday to all.

My freezer in the refrigerator and also downstairs are full to capacity. I don't know where this stuff all comes from. A lot of it is frozen veggies. Last time I went to Walmart, I got 2 bags of cauliflower but they had no broccoli. This time I looked for broccoli again and it appeared empty, but I saw a bigger bag pushed way in the back so I got that. I don't like the bigger bags because they take up too much room and DH doesn't close them properly. After he cooks some, I have to find the bag and close it up or it will be all over the freezer. I can't let him see me do it, though. The small bags that are $1 are good for 2 meals.

I have long sleeves on and I'm freezing. DH says it's warm in the sun but not in here.

Red face No change- WHEW!

Mad: Hope things are well and you've figured out a time to go to the cottage again.
Carol: Fingers crossed you will sleep better tonight and that your husband gets to go to the car show.
Trish: Nice job on the monthly loss!!

Well, it is not looking good for me to have a loss this month. I get to pick between today's weight and tomorrow's weight. Today's weight is showing I have a half a pound gain for the month. We shall see what the scale says tomorrow but I am not hopeful. Last month, I chose the lowest weight between the two because I felt like I was on a good streak. I am regretting that decision now. This seems to be my pattern. I start to feel confident and optimistic but it leads to a set back. If I had picked the higher of the two and hedged my bets, I'd have a loss this month for sure. Over a dozen weights this month were lower than my month starting weight. I was on-plan for all but four days this month. This kind of tells me I need to re-evaluate my plan. The thing is I already feel challenged by what I am trying to do and wonder how can I do more. All the good choices I made when I really wanted to pick something else feel worthless. I feel very discouraged today but intend to stay on course.

This morning, the scale stayed the same as my previously confirmed loss. There is a loss from last week still pending confirmation and maybe I'll be able to confirm it next week. My FBS was really good this morning at 89. BP was looking good but crept up this morning. I did three fasts this week (17, 17 and 16 hour). Definitely got all of my exercise in.

We went camping the early part of the week. I did well with my eating and exercise. Usually, I have a loss after camping. We had a fun time but it wasn't the trip we were expecting. The national park campground we had reservations at was still closed. We were able to find a commercial campground near a national park that was going to open while we were there. It was on the edge of town. As my daughter put it, this was "city camping". Usually, we are roughing it enough that we have to pay attention to our water, electricity and food supplies. Here we had full hookups. Since we were able to keep all of our electronic devices fully charged, it was quite a distraction. We spent most of our time in the town just outside the national park.

All of the shops were open and restaurants could seat up to 50% capacity if they could maintain social distancing. Masks were required inside and out. We've been here before but avoided the town for the most part because it was elbow to elbow with tourists. This was a lovely visit and many of the shops are very cute. They just re-opened and the shopkeepers were extremely welcoming. We also got to spend a day in the national park but none of the visitor centers were open. We saw some amazing wildlife. Our favorite activity, a tram ride up the mountain, will not open at all this year due to COVID-19. Another difference with this camping trip is we didn't have a fire pit. When we camp we plan meals to cook with the fire. With this city camping we had a propane fire ring provided by the campground and it wasn't something we could cook our meals on. We did use it to heat up our breakfast burritos though. They are self-contained and didn't make a mess.

Ultimately, we came back early since it wasn't quite what we wanted. Typically, we sleep really well on camping trips but we didn't on this one. It was too light and noisy from being so close to civilization. In addition, we weren't as active as we are when we camp in the willy-wacks. Very glad we went and also happy we came back early. Both my husband and I had stuff brewing at work that needed attention sooner rather than later. Plus our cat's paw is acting up again. She had a fever the night we came home and her paw was swollen up. The next morning, her paw started bleeding. She got blood everywhere and I am glad the cat sitter didn't have to deal with it. I took her to the vet and she on medication again. This is probably a life long issue- poor kitty!

Pipsicle, your camping trip sounds fun even though it wasn't what you expected. I went tent camping with friends once and had fun but we were all young and adventurous. None since. DH doesn't like it. A vacation to him has to be in a comfy hotel, restaurant meals, luxury. Also costly, so we haven't had many.

I'm glad you're hanging in with your weight loss. Mine is also slow to terrible but it's my own fault....bad eating and no exercise. I am hanging on and hoping to improve.

Sorry your kitty is still having trouble with his paw. I hate when animals are suffering like that. Our dog is finally getting in to get groomed so I will be a lot happier with him after that.

I was freezing this morning and roasting now. Time to get into my nightgown and relax.

Scale and BS both good. Down a bit. I think I stopped eating around 2 pm yesterday but I didn't experience any hunger all evening and none so far this morning. I hope DH is late with breakfast today. I could probably hold mine for a while and heat it up. I read an interesting comment about skipping breakfast "Your liver gives you breakfast every morning ( In the form of a liver dump, Dawn Phenomenon.)". That's why so many are not hungry for breakfast in the morning. If it wasn't for loving eggs so much I probably would skip breakfast, but I do delay it most days. It's really more of a brunch. Its is my best and healthiest meal of the day. It all seems to go down hill after that when carbs get involved.

Today I want to cook pork chops. DH likes them in sauerkraut. We still have one more jar of step sons home made sauerkraut which is so good and I have some kielbasa to add to it.

DH bought ice cream yesterday and Hershey's syrup for on top. Funny, but it didn't even tempt me. I am reading a new book, the P:E Diet by Dr Ted Naiman. He says the main difference between his healthy and not healthy patients is diet and exercise. He thinks like I always did, lean protein and vegetables, and he says an egg is perfect food. Yay!! He says a person with extra fat on their body does not need to add dietary fat. I never liked high fat. I want to use the fat that's already there. He doesn't mention IF, but there is also no mention of snacks. I don't even like that word because it usually involves extra food your body does not need. He does say that this way of eating gives satiety and you need less food. I know how hard it will be to stay away from DHs carbs, especially potatoes, but I will take one day at a time.

I measured my waist because that is my main concern, my fat that lies around my organs. I hope exercise helps with that.

I will do some cleaning and then some exercise. I hope DH doesn't want to go to Walmart. That cuts into my plans. But I will try very hard to get exercise in my schedule most days.

By the way, I remember saying "No more diet books!". I guess I lied! ! LOL
