Good to see you back Mad. That's a good idea to get a dog. I hope you get one that is as nice as DD's and the two dogs get along well.

I slept well again last night. That's a few good days in a row. I am planning to get back to exercising after Christmas and I think that will help. Not after New Years Eve, my holiday celebrating ends on Christmas day. Nothing going on for us after that except DHs birthday, and he doesn't celebrate that. All he will want is a short road trip, and you know where!! LOL

More baking today. I will bake the dough I refrigerated yesterday.

Mad It is good to see you back and glad your trip was good and you spent time with friends. That is nice. Glad DH has decided you need a dog because you do enjoy taking care of one and walking it. Thanks for the encouragement. I think I'm going to work at doing the 2MAD again and also get my carbs lower.

Carol Sue I am glad you are resting better at night as that is good for you and helpful with weight loss.

I think I'm getting too much sodium somewhere as my blood pressure has been up today. I'm also eating too many carbs. I'm not sure that the whole wheat is working very well for me. I don't think my body likes it as much as I do the Sara Lee 45 calorie bread. I'm also not going to buy Atkins bars any more. I think they make me crave sweets.

DH has a doctor's appointment for the itchy back at 2 pm and he will want to go to Sam's and we will have to go to Walmart as I'm sure he will get a prescription and the doctor has sent my prescription in for the generic Wellbutrin. I read that a brisk walk is good for lowering bp and I've already done 15 minutes on the bike so I probably need the exercise I will get walking at the stores.

Trish, does Sara Lee have whole wheat in the 45 calorie bread? For some reason I love whole wheat toast with peanut butter. This is what I meant by not trying to change to what they tell you if what you like is a good choice. If you had been eating regular white bread I could understand changing.

I will be curious to see what the doctor says about the rash.

I never got into bars and shakes. I wanted to make some shakes but I can't find my bullet. (Generic). DH looked where i thought it is but he said it wasn't there. I don't think he really knows what he's looking for.

I am terrible. DH bought chips the other night when we had guests. I just ate the 2nd bag today. Ugh.
No stopping power, no will to stop. So danged addictive.
Carol, this is why I won't go to a casino, I play the slots like an automaton. No enjoyment. Same with eating chips, just keep shoving them in my mouth.
not really enjoying, but must keep going...... yuck

Carol Sue The doctor doesn't know what the rash is as it didn't fit any thing he is aware of. He doesn't think it is anything that can't be taking care of so he is sending him to a dermatologist to be safe since he doesn't have any idea of how to treat it. He says being at the end of the year that we probably won't get an appointment until next month so he said just take Benedryl for the itching. One good thing to know is that it was not Shingles.

You said bullet are you talking about the bullet coffee? I didn't know they make that until today when I saw bullet coffee drinks among all the shakes at Sam's. I checked Atkins, and Slimfast and found that Premier has the least amount of sodium so I got the Premier shakes.

Mad I don't buy chips any more because I can't keep my hands out of them. I bought the ones by Quest and they aren't too bad but they are expensive and so are the Slimfast ones and I'm not really fond of the taste of the Quest and Slimfast. I liked the taste of some of the Quest and Atkns treats but some of them leave an after taste so it isn't worth it to me to even buy them. I like crackers with my salad and I can eat just 2 or 3 regular saltines, but when I buy the whole wheat ones like Ritz, I end up eating them like I do the chips so I have decided that it is better to eat 2 or 3 of the regular than to eat the whole wheat ones that are allowed on my plan. I've learned that there are just some foods I cannot bring in the house or I'm a goner.

I did 1 meal and 1 snack today. I started feeling better because of all the exercise I ended up doing. I told DH that I didn't feel like going to 2 stores today but I had Googled how to lower bp quickly. I knew a few of the things, but was surprised to learn that a brisk walk would bring it down. So I did a lot of walking in Sam's and Walmart. I even walked fairly briskly plus I had done 15 minutes on the bike before we left and it really did make me feel better. DH mentioned to the doctor that he doesn't have an problems with his digestion any more because he drinks apple cider vinegar so I'm going to start drinking it again. He needs to go back to drinking the 2 glasses of it since it helped lower his FBG and the doctor said that it wouldn't cause the rash. I've been having trouble with my digestion again so hopefully it will get better drinking the apple cider vinegar.

Happily I am up less than half a pound today in spite of my binge yesterday, so still at 154. Today will be fasting again. I am having trouble with grocery shopping again.
There are many fruits and veggies in my fridge that may go off before we can eat them. I am only eating 8 meals/week right now. (3 fasting days, and 2MAD the 4 days I eat) and that means overall not eating much. DH is trying to be good and make real food, not just eating canned soup and making simple sandwiches on the days I am not eating, but we are clearly not keeping ahead of it. I will have to ask the neighbours if they want some.
I think I got out of my careful shopping habits with DD here in October and DH going GF. And now with the holidays, I want to have healthy stuff on hand in case people drop by. sigh.
Got more meat cooked yesterday for my Tourtieres for Christmas, and DH and I will go to our community centre tomorrow to fill the store bought pie shells, so I don't have to touch them or have any flour in my kitchen. Then to take them as gifts for friends and relations.
Trish can you/did you post a photo of the rash? And where is it? Hope the benedryl helps. Only take it in the evenings and night when you won't be going out or driving until you are used to how sleepy it can make you, and remember you can break the caplets in half (they are not scored so you may not know) so they last longer and you don't always need 25 mg, and 12.5 will do. Blessings

Trish your DH could probably use Benedryl cream or a generic version for the itch to avoid the drugging effect of the tablets. I never thought of shingles because you didn't mention pain. The pain comes before the rash and it is severe. Maybe it will go away on its own.

Mad You are good at planning your meals and wise to buy the pre-made pie shells to avoid having any left over flour in your kitchen. I think DH plans to only take the Benadryl mostly at night. I took a picture of DH rash because it was on his back and he could only see it in the mirror. Then we looked up rashes on line and it really looked more like psoriasis but the doctor says it isn't psoriasis.

Carol Sue I didn't think about a Benadryl ointment/cream as I don't think I was aware they made it. I will have to mention that to DH. I never thought that DH had the shingles because the rash didn't look like it. The only time DH used the phrase as pain was that the itch was so severe sometimes that it was painful, but he says it is hard to describe because it isn't really pain. I guess I need to see if I can get some benedryl cream for him and see if that helps. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for the appointment.

I actually took a Lasix last night and my bp was back to my normal of 113/64. FBG was 121 and weight 210. I am hoping to get the weight back down to at least 209 so I will at least weigh what I did last week when I get my last shot. Tomorrow is WI and another shot at Bariatrics. I waited until noon to have my Premier shake with a banana. I think I am going to half to go back to using only half a banana because I a whole one just feels like too much at one time. I am going to try to start waiting until noon to have the breakfast shake. Going to be eating lighter the rest of the day.

Trish if you Google Magic Bullet that is what I have but an off brand.

My Psoriasis is slightly itchy.

Another great sleeping night. I don't know what I'm doing right but I don't want to change it.

I think I had an ok eating day. Breakfast and dinner. DH made eggs and pancakes this morning. I ate the eggs but after he left the room I threw out the pancakes. I'm the past I have frozen them but he won't eat them and I don't want them. Well, I want them, but dont want to want them. So no pancakes today.

I took a little nap in my recliner. I don't know why I'm doing that with the good sleep I'm having at night. My blood sugar is up from my tasting while I'm baking. I think I sleep better when my blood sugar is up. The cookies I made today are so good. Too much tasting! I could easily eat the whole batch.

I wound up doing OMAD today, just having a late supper, because we had a social thing with GF food tonight as it turned out.
My own shingles itched more than hurt. I was lucky that I never needed pain meds for it. Mine were on my hip. I could not sleep on that side but otherwise had a lighter case than others. I sure hope Trish's DH doesn't have that.
The benedryl cream is a good idea too. Has it broken out like blisters Trish? or just scaly and itchy? is it round or patchy?

Hope everyone has a good sleep tonight.

I slept good last night but not as long. My Fitbit gave me a sleep score of 80 which is good. I got up for the bathroom around 6 and the dog wanted to go outside. So that is why I didn't get back to sleep. I laid in bed until almost 8 and decided not to lay there anymore. I wasn't falling back to sleep. I feel good. I recently opened a new bottle of Tart Cherry Extract and it's a different brand from the last, so maybe although it is the same strength, it is more effective.

My Shingles hurt horribly until the blisters came out. I went to the ER thinking I was dying, but the blisters came out while I was there so they knew what it was without testing. Once the rash started, the pain was mild. I don't recall any itching. I guess everyone is different.

Trish, I actually suggest that you and DH get the shingles vaccine if you haven't already had it. You can still get shingles, but they will be mild.

We have Benadryl Cream in the house at all times. I bought it because DH was always getting mosquito bites that were really itchy. Since then, he got confused between Benadryl and the antiseptic for cuts, I forget the name. He uses Benadryl on his cuts. He insists it helps heal them. I think the cream keeps them moisturized. As long as he's happy, I'm happy. LOL

My FBS was 105, so that might also be why I didn't get back to sleep. I seem to sleep better when blood sugar is higher, but maybe that's coincidence. I finally forced myself to get on the scale and I am up to 193. That is a gain of 14 lbs. Not water weight!! I am not concerned because I knew my eating was way out of hand. I feel that I have it back in control and do expect to see the weight numbers go back down. I plan on starting back to exercising on Dec 26 and exercising seems to make me WANT to eat healthier. Why do all that work just to mess it up with poor eating? Isn't it funny how you can gain 14 lbs so easily but it's such a struggle to get 14 lbs off. I knew I was doing wrong, but felt helpless. The food kept going into my mouth and my body just wanted to sit in my recliner.

Carol: I hope you are able to get your eating back into control. It is disappointing how fast it goes up, as opposed to how slowly it comes off. I hope some of it is water weight and comes off quickly for you.
I am 153 today, after my OMAD yesterday. I think its also helping that I am walking lots. My morning walks are longer with the dog, and several days I take her for a shorter walk in the late afternoon or evening. (she is getting one long and two short walks a day) DH usually does one of the short ones. But whatever, I do believe the fresh air and exercise are helping this weight come back down quickly. We have been talking about managing this in the winter, with the problems of sidewalks. For instance, he is happy to walk on the treadmill in the winter, for me, not a chance. I hate it, and basically don't do it.

DH is still not convinced to get me a dog for Christmas. But really, there is not one tangible or material thing I would want except a canine companion. My mental health is better, and I feel better. I will happily give up most travel for the dog. So we will see what happens in the next few days. He says it's a stressor for him, which I don't want. We have to find a mutually beneficial solution. I don't want to take the dog back to DD on Friday. But I will. I couldn't take her dog away. It's helped her outlook and mental health as well.

I am going to fast again today, but try to back the nut cake I was planning to make. I don't need to taste it, so I hope I can manage not to do so.
Blessings a best wishes to everyone today.

Carol Sue Sorry about the weight gain. I hope you can get things back under control. I hope I do too.

Mad I know you would enjoy a dog for Christmas and hope you and DH and work that out.

The places on DH back look more like little spots no blisters except he had one place that was larger that looked like psoriasis in the beginning, but we doctored it and it dried up and just looks like a scab from a scratch. I don't remember if I itched when I had shingles as much as I hurt. We have had the shingle vaccine so at first we thought maybe it was just a mild case of shingles but it never blistered. However, that doesn't mean anything because mine didn't either when I had them before the vaccine. They were just under the skin which is what this did at first, but the doctor said it wasn't so I don't know.

I'm headed out in a few minutes to get my shot and WI. I should have a lost but not much. My weight this morning on my scales was 207.8 which is a new low. FBG was 121 again today. I didn't eat anything until noon yesterday and I may not eat until we eat at 3ish today because I will only take a cup of coffee with me so I can drink after my WI. I may go by the store on the way home since DH is out of strawberries and we are low on blueberries.

Hope we will all have a good day.

BBL

I really don't want this weight gain to be any water weight. I know that if it is, it will go down, but as soon as I drink anything it will go back up. I don't care about water loss, only fat loss.

Part of me wants to go back to tracking my food, but I really hate the food list on MFP. It seems so undependable. The fact that it syncs to my Fitbit is it's only salvation as far as I am concerned. But I will try it again. If I eat mostly whole foods I should not have a problem.
