Trish, many have said that low carb helped get rid of joint pain. When DH was in the hospital and I was eating low carb with long fasts each day my pain went away but I didn't connect it to carbs. I thought it was from good blood sugar, which was actually from the way I was eating. It doesn't hurt to try. Cutting carbs is beneficial all around. I don't think carbs were ever meant to be eaten in the quantities that the American diet includes. It is up to each person to decide how many carbs they can handle. We are all different.
Right now I'm taking the gout meds because tests showed my uric acid was elevated. But not all pain is from uric acid. For years my pain would go away and come back but I never knew what triggered it.
I had a 17 hour fast and ate a sandwich of egg, bacon, lettuce and tomato on my 35 calorie wheat bread. A side of cottage cheese for my dairy and extra protein. That was at 11am. Nothing else until dinner at 3 or 4.
I hope you have a good weigh in. Maybe you could start weighing with clothes on at home so your weight will be the same as at the center.
