Mad After seeing the dog online that you shared with us, I think he looks like a Buddy. I'm glad you got him and I'm sure y'all will adjust nicely. I hate how we can't trust the companies that make the foods that we eat, but they are only out for their almighty dollar not quality.

Carol Sue Glad you had a nice visit with your friend. She is the one who had the cancer a while back, right? Sounds like she is still doing well after that ordeal. I tried making homemade kraut but didn't like it as well as store bought. Not sure why, but maybe I should have added some flavor like onion or garlic to it. Never tried it again.

I thought I had gained weight, but when I looked back over the past two weeks, I have actually stayed the same as what I was at my last visit to get the injection so I guess it is good that I have actually maintained through the holidays. I am going to start today working at getting back to actually dieting. I made my first day back on 8:16 woe yesterday and working on day #2 today. Nothing major planned for us today. I just plan to make homemade pizza for our main meal today. I'm thinking about doing a CAD type thing where I have VLC for my other 2 meals although not actually CAD plan.

Strange that happened this morning was when I checked my FBG it said 130 so I thought this can't be possible as I haven't done anything different in my eating plus I've done 30 minutes on the bike 2X this week so far so what is the deal here. I did it again and it was 119. I must have had something on my hand the first time.

I am drinking hot tea this morning. It is a combo of green and moringa tea that I put together because I really don't like green tea, but I can drink tea without cream while fasting. Then when I drink my coffee I will try to start drinking it black to get the benefits of my 16 hr fast that I wouldn't get with the cream. I looked at Walmart and Sara Lee does make a 45 calorie wheat bread. It isn't whole wheat but it is wheat. Dr. Fung says stoneground is best but I didn't see any when I was there. I bought stoneground bread back when DH #2 was living because we had a Winn Dixie and they had their own brand which was very good. I like having the lower calorie bread.

Have a nice Happy New Year's day everybody.

Trish, our Aldis has a stone ground wheat If you want to look there to see if yours carries it. I know they want you to eat higher fiber and whole grain but I think the SL is a good choice because its so low calorie. You can get your fiber from veggies. It's up to you if you want to try it..

Yes my friend is the one who had cancer and still gets checked. So far so good..

I wash my hands before every test now because of poor readings i have had.

I was watching Pioneer Woman. I would be so fat if I cooked like she does but it looked good!

Default End of Year Wrap-up

Trish- Glad your Dad is doing better!
Carol- Happy to hear you had a nice visit with your friend!
Mad- Congratulations on the new dog!

In December, I lost 2 more pounds for a total of 14.5 pounds lost for the year! Really, that was since June as I struggled January-May. I'd like to lose faster but would be happy if I can keep up this rate until all of the excess weight is off.

How is it working (% success since June 2019)?:
Taking supplements (to address other health issues, not for weight loss) (98%)
Balancing carbs and protein (70%)
Avoiding sugared soda at least 6 days a week (80%)
Keeping below a set calorie limit (70% for maintenance limit)
Creating a 250 calorie deficit average for each day (50%)
Fasting twice a week (75%)
Eating more fiber (40%)
Exercising (usually at least 4 times a week) (65%)
Weighing every day (70%)
Weighing on 'official' weigh-in day (98%)
Tracking health indicators and other data points (80%)
Maintaining a visual display of success on mini goals (90%)
Working on getting better sleep (25%)
Posting here at least once a week (100%)
Trying to get at least 20 minutes of fresh air daily (45%)

If each item has the same value, it averages to 70% overall which was enough to keep me on track for my loosely defined goal of a half a pound a week (~2 pounds per month). For 2020, I'd like to continue to do all of the above with more consistency. In addition, I truly need to clean up my diet especially to add more fruits and vegetables. The other things high on my priority list are to start doing Pilates again, adding another fasting day, and seeing the doctor about this unrelenting fatigue.

Happy New Year to All!!!

Carol Sue Thanks for telling me about the Aldi's bread. I still like the idea of SL to because of the lower calories. I agree that the fiber can come from veggies.

I'm glad your friend is still doing well. That is great and hope it continues to be that way for her.

I decided to do like I did when DH and I first married. I had read a book on Intuitive Eating that said to wait till hungry to eat. So I decided not to eat until I got hungry this morning and do it like a game to see how long I could go without eating. It is 1:35 my time and I still haven't eat. I drank my coffee without the creamer but did use the Stevia and I am very pleased with how things have gone. I am going to practice doing this each day since I know I won't want to eat before I go weigh and get my shot once a week. If I can keep my appointments around 10:15 each week like it is this month then it will be easy to not eat till I get back. However, I would like to get into the habit of not eating until we eat at 3 so that I can at least get back to my 2MAD eating. Just taking it one day at a time and hopefully it will eventually be a habit. Decided to make our Homemade personal pizza . Figuring from the calorie counts on the packages of foods I use it added up to about 375 calories by making it myself. I use the Ultra Thin Whole Wheat crust that our local store sells. I hope it is as good as it says it is. With Mad finding out that the GL food sometimes has gluten, you have wonder how true their labels are.

Pipsicle Congratulations on the 14.5 lbs lost for the year. I'm experiencing the same thing with such a small amount of weight loss for the year, but at least we lost and you actually lost a little over 1 lb a month although like me lost it later in the year. However, I see it as progress and hope we both are able to get things working better for us in 2020.
Happy New Year.

Pipscle, you are doing very well making lifestyle changes, and also showing a loss for the year. You have every right to be proud.

Trish, You have also shown a loss and are doing great.

Mad, I think your loss was mostly last year and you have maintained over the year.

Trish, I hope your Dad continues to do well. I know you are aware that the time is drawing near for him to go on to join your mother in their heavenly home, but you really don't want it to.happen over the holidays. You would forever remember that each year and your holidays would be a sad time. On the other hand, he still might have a lot of timeleft, son just enjoy whatever time you have left with him.

Good morning everyone: 152 again today after my eating day yesterday. Did not stay strictly on plan, friends dropped by for a visit, and I put out a cheese and sweets tray. I did have one small sweet (1/4 of a large butter tart square, I cut it up, didn't really enjoy it, actually too sweet, a bit of a problem with GF foods I find) .
But by the time they left, at 530, I decided not to make or eat supper because I was pretty full. So I did not over eat, so a nice NSV there, because that has been a problem for me on eating days.
And yes, am happy to have maintained, but hope to achieve more weight loss this month and will work on getting down to 140 by the end of February, due to the fatty liver issues. I did not manage to arrange the Dexascan, so that is on my list as well.

Pipsicle, not only am I impressed with your loss this past year, I loved your tabulation of all the indicators of success. I think that is important, because no one can be "on" 100% of the time. And it proved that consistent but imperfect following your plan is working too. Congratulations, and keep up the great work. Blessings and best wishes to you this new year.

Carol: I enjoy sauerkraut, but do limit it to eating with pork and sausage dishes. What other times is yummy to eat it, It has good probiotics so its a good thing to include.
My hope for you is to stay in onederland and manage weight and blood sugar well this year.

Trish: I am really happy you didn't gain, and although the losses may not seem big, I have not seen you sustain plans for so long and with such success. I think if you keep up with your current plan and WOE you will continue to have success and be in onederland soon in the new year. That is a big milestone, and I send blessings and best wishes your way for this to happen.

To all our other occasion posters and lurkers, have a good year and I send hopes for weight management and blood sugar stability for everyone.

My blood sugar has been great for the past week. No sugar, so no high spikes. I need to keep that up. Wt is still up though. I still have sauerkraut and it is sooo good! I can't make myself toss it out. Maybe today will be the last day. I could eat it for breakfast.

Lots to do today. We will order new tires for our Impala. $$$$$ I got a new credit card with an introductory offer of $200 cash back when you spend $500. It's hard to believe but I read it over and over. Then, no interest for a year. Then we have to go to the bank. We went to the casino yesterday and did well. Didn't lose any money. And I won some that he doesn't know about. That extra money comes in handy. I no longer do a second trip through the buffet. Just one plateful. They had that good steak again. And some roasted veggies. Yummy. My birthday is at the end of the month and I already told him that i want that week off from the casino. We'll see if I get it. LOL

I fasted 20 hrs yesterday before we ate dinner and did a 4 hr eating window. I am working on the same thing today. Weight was down 207.4 but FBG was 132. The FBG upset me when I remembered that when we fast that happens because our body is releasing insulin and remembered that means he fast is working.

Not going to linger because it is difficult to type because I cut a finger on my right hand last night while cleaning the kitchen sink. There was a piece of cut glass in there I didn't see and now my finger is bandaged up to heal. We haven't figured out where the broken glass came from since neither of us remember breaking anything.

Sounds like we are all making good changes to make good habits which hopefully will become our lifestyle.

Have a nice day everybody.

Glad to hear you're doing so well, Trish, but your body is releasing stored glucose, not insulin. I know you know that, but I am only correcting you for the benefit of any lurkers who may be reading. It dumps glucose because it thinks your starving. LOL

Blood sugar is still good but weight is still not moving. I haven't started tracking so I need to do that to see how much I'm eating. Otherwise, nothing is new.

I want to get back to exercising but it seems that every day we have someplace we have to go or want to go. I haven't even been able to watch my soaps for a few days. There is snow forecast for a few days this week. Not a lot, but I'd rather not go out in it if I can avoid it. Today we have to go back to the bank to take some paperwork I didn't know we needed. We ordered our tires so they will come next Friday. The tires we have now are not quite good enough if we are out and get surprise snow so that's important. That is the car we take to the casino. We dont go if snow is predicted but it can come at any time here.

Hope all is well.

I made it another 2 meal day yesterday and working on one again today. I would like to switch the 2 meals so that when I get through with our main meal that I don't eat anything else. I will work at that maybe today. Not sure since I would like to switch and not eat until noon and then eat around 4 for the last meal. Of course today is beauty shop and I won't get back home until 12:30.

I've done my 30 minutes 4 days on the bike already this week and not sure if I will do another day today or not. Hard to get it in on Friday so just might change WI day to Sunday and get a 5th one in Saturday. Weight is stable 207.4 which will be a 1 lb loss when I go for shot Tuesday if I can hold on to it and FBG back down to 122 this morning. I assume this all means that the plan is working.

I hope everybody has a great day and those having bad weather stay safe.

I did 2MAD yesterday after all because DH invited guests over. SO 153 this am, which is fine.
We are having a long walk in the mornings (45 minutes) with Buddy, and then a couple of shorter 10-15 minute walks in the afternoon and evening. Which is awesome for me, keeping me busy and moving during the day. We have left him crated during the day a couple of times now, and he did fine. He is answering to his name in the house. when we walk, he is so intent on smelling, he hears nothing and wants no treats. LOL when did I ever not want a treat?
I bought new glucose sticks today, and will start testing for a while again.
I booked my dexascan for January 16th. I called the doctors office to request a referral, but they have an onsite doctor who will order it if not. Not sure why its needed at all, since its not covered. But with a referral, perhaps my benefits plan will cover it. I bought the 3 scan package, saves me $25 per scan, brings the price to $100 each. I would plan another in a few months. and maybe a 3rd one in a year.

Carol: I hope DH honours your birthday requests. You also should get a lovely dinner out or something like that too.
Trish: keep doing so well.
Happy to hear from everyone.

Mad I know you are glad to have the dexascan ordered and I hope it turns out good. Sounds like you are getting a lot of exercise with your new fur baby.

I ended up with a 7 hr eating window so that works out very good for today.

Haven't been able to get in touch with Daddy for days so DS and BIL went out there to see him. Had to take care of business there for him. She got a call this morning telling us that the medicine he was on was not working so they have changed his prescription because hospital call them and to them the medicine he was on would not get rid of the infection he has. The new medicine is supposed to be the one to fight the infection he has. They said it would take about 10 days to get rid of it. DS said someone had put Daddy's cell phone in a draw and they had tried to find it but Daddy could only remember his phone # he had when Mama was living. That doesn't sound good for his mind. DS called the cell phone and found it. It should be charged and ready for me to call him in the morning. DH and I will go see him tomorrow. Just taking this one day at a time. He told DS that he doesn't care one way or another whether he gets well or goes on to be with the Lord. She said he cries a lot about Mama. It won't be easy but I just want him out of his misery.
