That's great to know Carol: feels better when its not in our control and nothing you did "wrong".
Hope all goes well and you get home ok.
Quiet night here. DH has left for a few days on his own at the cottage. DD going out for supper with friends.
She will leave Thursday with other DD and will meet us at the cottage on the 22nd. LOL, even when she is home, she isn't home!
i finagled an extra day for my holiday, so won't be back to work until the 30th.
I hope that will feel more like a real holiday, especially with the girls there.

Have a good night friends

Carol Sue So glad they are able to fix the problem and hope you will be a candidate to the better treatment so you don't have to go through this over and over again. Also great to know that it wasn't caused by anything you have been doing. I pray you will have a good nights rest and be back home at a reasonable time. God is good. Thanks for the update.

My blood sugar has gone up over 200 but they have been giving me insulin...just not enough IMO. I just tested with my meter at 179 but I think it was before DP. Not nearly as bad as last time and when I get home I can take G. I am eating only low carb foods here.

Now that I got this done I should feel better and be able to do.more. I don't know if there is anything I can do to prevent this build up without the new procedure but now that I.know I will take action as soon as I get symptions.

I have a roommate here. She had a horrible night so I did too. She is 86 and very sick. I hope I never get that bad and she is refusing to do what they tell.her

I can't wait to get home to a shower and nap.

just under 152 today. And I cheated and had ice cream.
Not sure what DD plans are this evening. She is taking my bicycle to do errands while I am at work, LOL, she didn't want to get up early to drive me and drop me off so she could have the car.
DH is at the cottage, so just us two until tomorrow evening, her sister is coming to get her and they will leave together. I will be on my own for a while, so that may be a good time to fast.
Carol: hope you get a nice nap too when you get home. And that you can get a more permanent treatment.
Have a good Wednesday!

Carol Sue I'm sorry you didn't have a good night because of the roommate. Hope you will be able to get home soon and have a good nap. I hate that they always use insulin when we're in the hospital. It is good to know that they can fix the problem if you need to do it.

Carol Sue I almost forgot to tell you with you being in the hospital, Daddy really liked the idea of a Guest book to sign. I'm going to try to find something before we go out there next Monday because I want something nice and I want to figure out a way to attach a pen to it for people to use to sign it with. Thanks for the idea.

I got a call from my cousin who does all the genealogy on my Mother's Mother's side of the family and her Daddy is in the VA here now with dementia. She comes to town 2x a week and hope that some Thursday when she comes in that DS and I can meet up with her for coffee or brunch. I think he is in his upper 80s.

fatmad You are doing well and I know you will be looking forward to being with family at the cottage and get some fasting done before you go.

Well, my FBG was 142. I thought it was because I got up early to call doctor's office to make appointment for DH this afternoon. I think he may need antibiotic for his ear. Any way when I got dressed and came back in almost 2 hrs later it was 147 so it must be the DP and I miss the lowest reading. I think I got a whoosh but will have to wait and see if it sticks but weight was 211.4 this morning. It isn't unusual for my bs to be higher when I have a low weight reading while dieting.

It is going to be a long day because DH appointment is going to be 4pm so it is going to be a long fast between breakfast and dinner. DH will want to get KFC on the way home. So don't know if the long fast will make up for the extra calories. Which reminds me. I'm tracking calories on MFP again and my calories were barely over 1000 yesterday. I made my plan and then as the day went a long, I would change my mind about what I wanted and by the time I closed out the calorie sheet for the day I had eaten only 1079 calories.

Today I'm kind of doing similar to what they tell DS to eat at the bariatric place. She read she is supposed to eat 8 to 12 oz of protein plus 2 eggs everyday. She also gets to eat fruit and veggies and even have bacon. I can't afford the $65 a week shots to reset your metabolism, but I can follow the eating diet plan. She said the hard part for her is eating veggies. I told her to pick out the ones she likes and to work around those.

Going to be hat today. Already 88 with index of 99.

My blood sugar was down to 167 by the time I ate breakfast. They gave me insulin but not as much as I thought they should. When I got home it was 234. So I took G and ate chicken for lunch. I remember from before that my blood sugar bounced high for a few days before after the steroid for the dye allergy. I am pleased that it only went into the 200s as before it went into the 300s and actually into the 400s. This should not make that big a difference in my A1c as long as I stay on plan.

I think the hospitals use insulin because it is more uniform for them to have control than trying to stock all the diabetes meds. I don't have a problem with it.

I am very glad to hear that this issue was not from diet. I know I have changed my diet a lot and couldn't imagine what other changes I could make. I found some information online about the procedure and he doctor who does it and it has been done since 2016 so success has been established. From what I read I should have no problem fitting the criteria. I m excited to have the opportunity to make this positive change to my health.

I'm glad your Dad liked the idea of the guest book. Maybe you could tell people about it in case your Dad forgets. They could put the date they were there and maybe leave a short note or comment. That way you would know who was there and it will be a reminder for him.

You are doing very well and Mad, too. I need to catch up.

Carol Sue I'm glad that it wasn't caused by your diet too since we eat fairly the close to the same. I'm equally glad that they have a way correcting it. I'm glad you were able to keep the bs down when you got home.

My FBG was 142 this morning but was 108 before we ate when we got home from doctor's office. I just don't understand all this. It will be interesting to see how this affects my A1c.

The doctor said that DH had had the same ear infection 2 yrs ago almost to the day. In fact looking at the calendar, he was in the doctor's office 2 yrs ago on the 11th of July. I told him not to make it a routine. LOL He gave DH samples to take care of it. We were thankful for that because even with a special deal the doctor's off ice had with one of the pharmacies here in town back then it was very expensive. While there the doctor also told us that he is going out of town leaving the 24th and won't be back until late the night before our 6 mo. appointment so he said he might take that day off and reschedule us another day. Of course, being retired we are flexible. I told him that I had planned to email him to ask him to have the lab check for uric acid because of the joint pain and possible gout I've been experiencing. I told him that I don't think I have it but want to be sure so he ordered it to be added to my blood work on the 23rd.

DH decided to get Chinese food since it is right by doctor's office instead of going so far to get chicken. It is still chicken because we get a sweet and sour chicken with rice meal and half it. I decided to keep cals down that I would measure out about 6 oz of the chicken and 1/2 c rice. I steamed a few veggies and I never eat the sauce. My calories today will be under 1400 calories.

Just a quick hello: Hope you are home now Carol and slept well. I went to bed early and woke up very early, I will be in bed by 7 tonight if this keeps up! LOL
weight 151 today. I ate at 4 am again. I am eating 2MAD today before fasting. I had a couple of OMAD days with fasting and that gets into low calorie areas and may affect my metabolism, so I want to do the 2MAD to make sure I am revved up before fasting. Will take salad stuff to work with me.
I had blueberries and cream and my "granola" made of pecans, hemp hearts and chia seeds. I had a nut bar to try, but I was too full after my little bowl of breakfast to have any more.
Trish: hope you find a nice book for your Dad, any pretty journal with blank pages will also do. And put a little sign on his door asking visitors to sign the guest book for him. Maybe a date book would be good so he can see who was there, when, more easily?
What a great idea.

blessings friends, have a good day.

I think I'm getting a cold. I started sneezing a lot in the hospital. I was freezing cold last night but finally warmed up. Now this morning I feel like I have congestion. My oxygen is lower than it should be and heart rate is higher than it should be but I don't have any chest pains so I'm going to wait and see. If I feel worse I will go back to the ER.

Blood sugar is still bouncing around. Hope it settles down soon.

Carol Sue I hope you are feeling better and didn't have to go to the ER. Praying for you.

fatmad I notice I'm eating less because I am feeling full faster now too. Glad you are getting some good sleep.

FBG was back to 126 and weight up only 1 lb to 212.4 after having Chinese food. I couldn't eat all the food that I measured out, but I think it really helps to track and measure on MFP. I'm learning to ignore the red numbers when I go over on sodium or fat because I know more of those is no big deal and I don't really worry if I go over 1 or 2 grams on the carbs either because I think it will balance out over the week. Since stress adds to bs problems etc, I decided not to let it stress me out. I'm learning to relax a little and move on and not allow it to derail me. In fact, that is pretty much the way I looked at things when I was doing so well when I first moved back home. I feel like I am slowly getting back to being me. It really helps for DS and her DH and my DH and me being on the same page. I am so proud of her. In fact, I'm proud of all of us as we are making a life for our selves. There are things we all would love to do and we have to get healthy to do them.

Carol Sue keep us up dated as you feel like it and prayers and good thoughts continue coming your way.

I'm feeling better as the day goes on. I don't know if I have a fever or not because it seems that our thermometer isn't working right. One time I check and it's 99 and I check again right after that and it's 104. I think if it was 104 I'd feel terrible, so I think the thermometer is just bad. I don't really want to spend the money on a new one.

DH has a DR appointment tomorrow morning. He wanted to cancel, but then said he'd go. He hates going to the doctor and says they just want money. If he had gone for his check ups over the years he would not have had such a bad time with his heart surgery in December, but he won't listen to me. I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow afternoon, so we will be busy. The rain is supposed to stop tomorrow so I won't have to be running around in the rain.

DH went for a hair cut and to Walmart to get my fish oil and he said they didn't have the one I want. I think they have it at Target so we can stop when we're out tomorrow. People go back to work after having the procedure I had done so I don't think it will hurt me to do a little shopping between doctor visits. Poor DH hasn't had a decent meal in ages. I hope I can get better and make it up to him. I think he realizes that we won't be going to the casino this week. LOL

I was told not to drive until after my follow up doctor visit which is tomorrow, but I rarely drive anymore anyway. Other wise, I am just not allowed a tub bath, swimming pool or hot tub, none of which I do. So I guess I'm good to go.

My blood sugar is still bouncing. I hope it's down by bedtime. I did not get on the scale. They had me on saline infusion for 2 days so I am probably full of water weight. They said I was dehydrated when I came in. I really don't care about my weight right now. I was my blood sugar back down.

Keep up the good work, Trish.

Carol Sue I am glad you are feeling better and hope your PCP appointment goes well tomorrow.

BS before lunch was 105. Suddenly my calories are falling between 1000 and 1300 a day so if I can keep them going like that most of the time all will be fine.

You are doing very well with calories, Trish. Are you still drinking the shakes?

I could have sworn that DHs appointment was at 10:30 but now it looks like I wrote down 12:50. I will have to find their phone number and call them in the morning. I don't want to be 2 hours off. I hate when I do that!

FBG was 179. I hate when it takes so long to come down after that steroid shot but it protects me from an allergic reaction so I have to have it. I got on the scale, and I am down 1 lb to 185. These are recycled lbs, that I lost before but gained back so I don't really count them as a loss. I have to get down to 179 before I can start counting again.

I called about DH's appointment. It is at 12:50. I'm glad. We don't have to leave so early. Maybe we can go for breakfast before the appointment. I have to do something to keep him happy because he doesn't want to go for this appointment, and I don't know if we will go to the casino. Actually, I feel good to go, and after my doctor's appointment this afternoon I should be cleared for most activity. Just no heavy lifting, which I don't do anyway. We had to switch from gallons of milk to half gallons after my heart surgery because they are too heavy for me to lift.

I also want to go to Target and Kohls. We will probably do that between his appointment and mine. Mine is not until 3:15.

A quick flyby as I need to leave in a few minutes if I'm going to run by doctor's office to get DH medicine they give him each month. They were out when we were there, but nurse called yesterday that she has some at the front desk for me to pick up. I'll either get it going or returning. It will be so hot when I come home but quicker to get in and out.

Carol Sue That FBS number will come down. I know what you mean about the recycled lbs. I'd love to see some new ones. FBG was 142 again this morning, but that was the high carb day and weight up to 214 which is the sodium in the taco seasoning mix I use. I was lazy and dumped the whole pack in there which was crazy. Oh well today is a new day. Yes I still use the Premier shakes. I usually drink one each evening. However, I had one for breakfast to save time and will have another one tonight this will keep calories down since I'm getting LJS fish for our meal today. We do have to keep these men happy. LOL.

I know you need to move around, but take it easy and don't do too much to fast.

I get a perm today so that takes longer and then store so it is so much easier to get LJS rather than come home and have to cook.

Have a good one everybody.
