My blood sugar this morning was 167, higher than it should be. I was happier when it was running in the 120s but I was eating much better then. And weight is back up to 195. So I have some work to do. I want to go to TX Roadhouse for dinner today, so I'm hoping to fast most of the day since we like to go there at 3 when they open. I was looking at the menu online and it looks like they have taken the roasted chicken off the menu. That was my favorite meal there and there was always enough to bring home for chicken salad the next day. So I'm not sure what I will order, but it will probably be a chicken entree of some kind. I'm not real big on steak. I like their ribs, and like to order them once in a while for a treat, but today I don't want the sugary sauce. We have a coupon for a free onion appetizer and some money left on a gift card.

I feel absolutely pain free this morning!! No foot or leg pain at all. I'm walking normally it seems. I'm holding my breath! I am in a very good mood and upbeat. The weather is beautiful, I am feeling good.....what more could I want?

Mad, I'm so glad you are happy with your fasting plan and it's working so well for you. That's good that you get exercise while you are on vacation. You will probably maintain your weight, or might even come home a few pounds lighter. Is this going to be just you and DH or is your DD going with you?

Trish, I hope all is well with you and your family, too.

Waving to everyone else, Momtopands, Lotsakids, EagleRiverDee, Sundove, IdealProteinNewbie, all our other friends who stop in from time to time, and anyone else who might be reading. Hope the upcoming holiday weekend is healthy and fun for everyone.

Carol Sue I'm so glad you are pain free today. I hope things stay that way for you. Sorry about the weight gain and higher fbs. I'm having the same issues, but I know why I'm having mine.

I was sick last night and couldn't sleep. It was not a good night to be sick and unable to sleep since today through Saturday is going to be even more stressful. I experienced an acidic stomach so ate several crackers breaking my fast so I didn't check fbs this morning because I knew it would be up. I did weigh and my weigh was way up. I did eat a low carb breakfast of sausage and cheese scrambled eggs this morning. I'm not sure what I will be eating today.

They are moving Daddy to another room on the Medicaid floor as he is on Medicaid pending and he is getting a roommate. Because he won't have a tv in there, BIL will be taking Daddy's tv out there and hooking it up to the facilites cable. DH will have to set up his computer. Not sure what we can take out there for him because not sure how much room he will have.

DS is working with a man from the VA to see what help we might get from the VA. She is in the process of filling out the paper work. We have to get the doctor of the facility who has now become Daddy's primary fill out the information needed to file. She told me she read on line last night that he might be able to get quite a bit of help, but of course that takes time. Besides being a WW2 Vet, Daddy was Chaplain and Commander with the VFW for years. I hope that will qualify him for some help. I would love to see him be able to at least get the rest of his therapy. He lost 15 days when he had a wrong diagnosis at the other facility. It doesn't seem fair that he is penalizes for something that was not his fault. I pray the Good Lord will come through with something.

We go Saturday to meet with grandkids to take what they want. I don't have anything I really want except a light sweeper and there is a family book Daddy did that I don't have. He and I were working on the same info and I notice he has some info in a book I don't have. Turns out it belongs to DS so I want to make copies and make a book for our baby sister and myself. She told me the minister is supposed to come over Saturday morning and she want DH and me to be there when he comes. I don't expect any problems but she said he can be pushy so she has asked us to be there. Of course, we need to be there to help with cleaning up too. I hope the grands will help us so that we can clean up there and she can give the keys to the office by the 31st. So we have a busy weekend. It has to be done so I'm ready to get it over with and hopefully we can start living some sort of a normal life again.

I will continue to go see Daddy 3 or 4 days a week. DS will go when she can. I talked her into getting a Hugo type walker. I wanted her to take Daddy's but she is doesn't fit in it to sit so she has ordered herself one. I told her she needs to start walking. DH found mine so I want him and me to start walking. I can use it so that my back doesn't hurt. I know I need to strengthen my bones. I'm just going to do the best I can with my diet for the next few days.

Y'all have a great Memorial Day!!!

Fatmad You have a great Victoria Day!!!

Trish, my MIL had a regular walker she got from Medicaid and never used so we took that when she passed away. Then later on I bought a Hugo Walker at Goodwill. It was in very good condition and very inexpensive. I have never used them, but I figure I have them if I need them for not a lot of money. I could probably have been using one of them with my recent foot pain but I don't know if it would have helped because it hurt to even put my foot on the floor. I would still have had to put my foot on the floor to walk. It gets a little achy now and then but this is livable. I don't want to go to the podiatrist until after I find out what's going on with my heart. We went to the casino today. I didn't walk around much...stayed in the same place. When we were leaving there my foot started to hurt a bit. I took Tylenol Arthritis when we got in the car and by the time we got home (1.5 hours) the pain was gone.

I think if the minister gets pushy about taking things from your Dad's apartment you should just tell him it is his wishes that the grandchildren get first pick on things. Do not let him push you around.

I hope you Dad gets along with his room mate and is able to have his TV and computer in his room. Also, I hope he can get a lot of help from the Veterans. He has earned it.

I hope you are feeling better.

Thanks Carol Sue for the encouraging words. I'm glad your foot stopped hurting after you took the Tylenol.

Turns out that when DS talked to a different lady at the facility this morning that she said we should have applied for VA support before filing for the Medicaid. She told DS that he won't have any problem getting VA help. In fact, from what DS has learned they will help with paying for the facility and he will be allowed a certain amount of money without having to give up his SS or retirement check from the plant. He would have to pay a co pay of $500 dollars a month but that would be easy if he had his checks each month. DS is working on getting that help. I know the man at the VA was very upset to learn that Daddy was losing his therapy after tomorrow. Rehab seems to think they could get him walking.

Daddy's new room is a little bigger and his room mate is very nice. He is a diabetic and has lost portions of both legs and some of his fingers on one hand. The case worker who called DS to tell us they were moving Daddy said the room mate is a joker and so is Daddy. He told us he was dreading getting a room mate too. He spends a lot of time on his computer so I think they will get a long pretty well. He says he stays up late till almost 2 in the morning. We told him that wouldn't be a problem because Daddy sometimes has the tv on when he goes to sleep. He said he could just turn it off for Daddy when he goes to sleep. So I think they will be fine together.

Daddy was able to have his big tv. The maintenance man was hanging it on the wall for him when we left. His room was just close to nursing station just enough that he was able to keep his favorite nurse and one of his favorite aids. So that was nice too. The Meds nurse was the same as we learned she does the medicine for all floors. I think I read that they have a total of 90 beds in the facility.

The maintenance man told us that they are remodeling the whole place. Daddy has a remodeled room. Oh his room mate has a small refrigerator/freezer and told Daddy that he was welcome to use it if he wanted to. Daddy probably won't but it is nice that he offered.

I heard that the VA man who helps get help for Vets doesn't get involved until the Veteran gets to the point to where they have to transfer to long term and then they help them get care during the transition from the 100 days to long term.

So all is well with that part of his life. We will either eventually be on VA support or Medicaid. I know I have read that TX takes really good care of their Veterans and Daddy has started talking about the Veterans Home that this facility has in Temple, TX. However, DS told him that he would be so far from us. He has a friend who that he worked with for years and he worked with Daddy in church as well. He and his wife were close friends of Daddy and Mamas threw the years. His wife died a few years ago. So have no idea how things will work out in the long run. He wants to go see the place if he can get to the place we can take him out sometime.

Now to just get through Saturday and get out from under that apartment then we can start adjusting to having a life again.

I didn't check my bs until just before dinner. I fasted until almost noon and then only had the sausage, cheese and eggs scrambled together. Didn't eat again until around 5:30 or 6. My bs was down to 103 before dinner. I had a snack about 8. Fridays are hard for me to get a good fast. I think I will just have a Slim fast shake for breakfast in the morning. That way I can take my berberine with coffee and I can take the shake with me and drink it while driving to the Retirement center to see Daddy when I leave the beauty shop. I like the idea that they don't call their facility a nursing home. They call it a Retirement Health Care Center.

It's late so I'm going to go to bed soon. I do so hope I can sleep tonight. Have a good Friday and I'll check in tomorrow evening sometime.

Carol Sue: hope the pain is still gone today! so excited for you to feel better. I am dumbfounded about what could be causing such pain, and then have it gone suddenly. Very curious. Did you enjoy your supper out?
Trish: so glad that you have a good situation for your father. That is everything. Having that for someone you love is what you want for their final years. You did want to be closer to him with the move to Texas, and you are taking this time to be with him and love him. Thats just right.

Yesterday I had my "up" day, no fasting. I have decided on my steel cut oats for breakfasts those days. I can add the bran to it, and cook it in milk. Then I eat low carb like usual the rest of the day. I oddly get a weight drop the day after. Looks like I am 174 now. I won't be weighing for almost 2 weeks, SO will see how things have gone when I get back from my trip.

On the program in Dr. Fung's book, they do 4 days of fasting a week and three "regular" days, but I have been doing 2 fasts and one up day, and that is working well. I am feeling lighter and noticing some changes in shape too. Pretty exciting.

Have also been having less joint pain. I still have some in my thumb, but the pain in the rest of my body is pretty much gone, especially my back. I have been reading that non-celiac gluten intolerance is a factor in joint pain, and I am certainly better. The only thing is I am still getting traces of gluten by eating the bran. But its the best thing to keep me regular. I do credit being regular as part of the reason I am losing weight as well. I may try switching to oat bran and see if that goes as well.

Time to finish packing, then head to the nail salon before I go.

Best wishes, will check in from time to time!

Hi Mad. it's interesting to hear that you had/have thumb pain. I forgot that I used to have thumb pain, too. It wasn't until you mentioned it that I realized that I no longer have it. Maybe that's because my fingers, wrist and elbow hurt now. LOL I had that when I was still working, doing data entry. I called it "space-bar thumb" as I thought it was from constantly hitting the space bar while working. Repetitive movement.

I guess it could be possible that I have gluten sensitivity, but for a few days recently I was eating bread.....4 slices daily...and my pain did not increase. As a matter of fact, that was when it started to subside. Maybe I get pain from NOT having gluten. I love toast and have been having it daily now. I really want to continue to buy this new bread that I like so much , but I'm thinking it's not really in my best interest to have it around.

Sometimes I think this pain I get is from when I took Cipro a few years back. The doctor says it can't be from Cipro and so does the pharmacist, but there is a black box warning in the package insert that warns against "tendon pain." I started out by getting pain in my shoulders while I was taking it and now I get pain in various places that comes and goes. If there is a black box warning, that shows me that the manufacturer knows that it is a high risk side effect. I sometimes think that the pain in my legs could be from blood clots, but they checked my legs while in the hospital and no clots were found. That was reassuring to know. The different shoes I have been wearing have helped tremendously, too. Very comfortable and supportive, and probably have just the right heel elevation for me. I have always had problems wearing completely flat shoes or going barefoot. There was a time back in my 40s that I had to wear elastic braces on both ankles because I had ankle pain. Never knew why, and it went away by itself.

I ran out of Turmeric. I have some in my cart on Amazon and can't decide if I want to order it or not. It's a higher strength than what I was buying from Walmart. I don't know if it was really making a difference or not. I guess if the bad pain comes back I will order it. If it doesn't help, I've wasted more money than that on other things.

Please explain the different between the Fung Program doing "fast days and regular days" and you doing "fast days and up days." Would you up days be more food than their regular days? It's great that you are losing so well. I seem to find something that works then I fall off the rails. I don't know why I let that happen.

We did not go to Texas Roadhouse. DH decided he wanted to go to the casino on Thursday instead of over the weekend so we went there. Maybe because it's a slower day there, the buffet was terrible or maybe my food tastes are changing. So much of the food was overcooked, and some was dried out because it was sitting there so long with them not being busy. When it's crowded, they are refilling the food bins oftener. We had coupons so we ended up only paying 20 cents for the buffet, so I was glad I didn't pay for it. We did pretty good on the slot machines so that made up for the lousy meal.

Trish, prayers really do work!! It sounds as if things are working out so well for your Dad! I hope he can get the help from the Veterans. I'm surprised in a way that he still want to look into that other Veteran's facility even though it is farther away and you will not be able to visit as often. Maybe since you lived far from him for so long it is not that important to him. I don't mean to say he doesn't care if he sees you or not, but maybe he feels that it's important that he is happy for whatever time he has left. If he really wants to make the move I would not stop him, but I would stress to him that you will not be able to visit as often. Maybe he's getting tired of looking at you? LOL (just kidding.)

You are having great blood sugars even though fasting is higher than you like. You will find a happy medium.

Quick flyby before leaving.

Fatmad I'm curious as to how your routine of fasting works too. In fact this Smart Blood Sugar doctor recommends some form of fasting. Right now I'm considering my long hrs between meals a fast as well. I'm not losing but not gaining and FBS are sometime high and sometime lower. I'm hoping it will make fasting easier when my life slows down. Enjoy your holiday.

Carol Sue I understood what you were saying no problem. Daddy ran out to see my step-mom everyday and he knows it is rough. I remember times he went when he just didn't feel up to it. In fact, DS and I think the stress of dealing with her caused a lot of his health problems today. I may cut back to 3 days a week because I'm really thinking that he probably is worried about me running out there so much. I do make special trips to see him and of course we make all his doctor's appointments with him. I don't know what we would do about the doctor's appointments if he lived so far from us. DS and I have already discussed that we would have to go on the same days and then only go maybe 2 days a week if he moves. He keeps telling me that us girls have husbands and we need to be with them and take care of them and not come out so much.

He is going to be 95 yrs old. I don't know how many years he has so I will go as much and often as I can. A lot has been taken off of me by him being where he is the visits are no problem for me. We will see how it goes.

Wannabehealthy thanks for the wave yesterday! Life has been crazy around here but I wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone and try to catch up a bit.
I was glad to read that your foot/leg pain seems to be better. I hope it lasts long term!

pattygirl I am so glad to hear that things are working out better for your dad and he is feeling better about the whole situation. I agree that prayer does work and doors are being opened!

fatmad Congrats on the losses and figuring out what plan is working for you and less pain!

Well my life has been less than ideal these last couple of weeks. I posted that my 13 year old daughter attempted suicide on mother's day. Thankfully she told me that she took some pills(ibuprofen) and I was able to take her to the ER. She is fine physically but was, of course, admitted to an adolescent unit and spent 9 days there. She is home now and it will be a long road to health for her but I am committed to getting her the help she needs and doing whatever I need to do to keep her safe. She already has a counselor she sees and has been back there since discharge. My frustration from yesterday is that the county counseling center that does adolescent psychiatric care wouldn't see her because even though my insurance covers the MD they don't cover the therapists, nurses and ancillary staff. So I was told i'd have to pay out of pocket for services. However if I had medicaid, no problems. I was furious and left to try and find someone else, but that was a dead end also. Many drs don't see adolescents, and I even had one office tell me that they don't take recently hospitalized patients(WHAT!?), so what do they think the people that need the most acute help are supposed to do? I finally had to become the pushy healthcare consumer and called the county to speak to someone in billing. If I have to pay so be it but I was going to inform them that I expected to pay the negotiated rate, not some ridiculously high self pay rate. If they can negotiate with insurance companies and medicaid(which my tax dollars pay for anyway) they can negotiate with me. After talking to the billing person, she says the people at the front never even gave her my daughter's insurance information and she's the person that checks eligibility. That's her job! After contacting my insurance company it turns out they will cover her and she can be seen. This all goes to show that you have to be an advocate for your health care or people will let you fall through the cracks. How can they even consider it with my daughter in such a precarious position! Well, that's the end of my rant for today.

On the blood sugar front mine have been pretty good, just this morning after eating some frosted mini wheats(I love that cereal) with 1/8 cup of craisins and of course milk my blood sugar was 99. I did exercise after eating breakfast. My weight is down to the lowest in years at 252.4 this morning. I am finally getting to pick up more of the meat I order today. Steak will be on the menu tonight! I'm also getting roast beef so it will be interesting to figure out how to cook it! Any ideas please let me know. I hope the next time I post won't be so long.

Momtopands, I am so sorry to hear of your daughter's attempted suicide! That is so scary. I believe that something is bothering her and this is a cry for help. I'm so glad she told you what she did. This makes me feel that she doesn't really want to die, but just wanted someone to realize she was having a problem. Thank God you were able to get her to the ER. It could have ended differently.

It didn't sound right to me that your insurance didn't cover her treatment. I'm glad you got that straightened out.

Why on earth would a doctor refuse to see a recently hospitalized patient? Do they only see people who don't need it? Ridiculous.

It sounds like your blood sugar is well under control. I really have to work to have a reading of 99.

Please keep us updated on how things go for your daughter.

Today I have some foot pain returning, so I think I want to go back to taking the Turmeric. It's been a little over a week since I've taken it, so maybe it's wearing off, leaving my body. I looked on Amazon and there are so many I don't know which one to choose! They all have some good and bad reviews. I don't have Prime, so I would prefer to go with one that offers free shipping. I have one in my cart, but it also has nettle, and I'm not sure I want to include that. The one I'm taking now is 450mg in 3 tablets. I've been taking 2 tablets to make it last longer so that equals 300 mg. I would like to find one that is 3 tablets for a 1500 mg dose. That way, once it started working I could possibly cut back to 1 tablet per day, for a dose of 500 mg. There's one like that on Amazon, but no free shipping available unless you have Prime. I could have my DIL order it using her Prime. I have done that in the past, but I don't want to do it too often and take advantage. I sent a PM to a woman on another forum to ask which one she takes.

My new shoes I ordered came today. DH said they would probably be tighter, but they actually feel a little looser. I tried them on early in the morning so they will probably be tighter later in the day as my feet swell a bit.

I had fish and mac for dinner last night so I took a dose of Glimiperide. When I went to bed blood sugar was 82. The Glimiperide was probably still going to be working so I decided to eat some candy to offset it. I ate 2 pieces of gum drop candy. That stuff must really have a lot of sugar because blood sugar was 204 this morning!!! Lesson learned. No gum drop candy for me!! I have used hard candy in the past and not had that high of a spike.

This morning I was reading some of the links I bookmarked earlier in the week. This one was from Ireland, about what to eat for diabetes. One thing it said was no more than 5 alcoholic drinks in one sitting!! LOL I would be on the floor under the table!! I think the Irish are big drinkers, so that's why they are allowing so much alcohol. I didn't see much that wasn't the same information we see everywhere, except for this one about IF.

http://www.burnfatnotsugar.com/test/...entFasting.pdf

If I could let go of my scrambled eggs I could do OMAD. Maybe I could try it once or twice a week and have my 2MAD the other days so I can have my eggs.

momtopands I am so sorry about your daughter, but I'm glad you are finally getting help for her. I would suggest staying on top of that as well. My daughter ended up going to a psychologist years ago who convinced her she could never work again. She worked through it and proved him wrong for a while, but eventually succumbed to what he said and has never had a really normal life since. She lives alone and seems happy in another state from me and doesn't have anything to do with her kids. I share that to just say be sure she gets quality help. There are doctor's out there that just see dollar signs. However there are also some excellent doctors as well and I've seen those kinds help people to come through their situation and live productive happy lives. I will pray for you as you go through this with your daughter that she will get the right kind of help.

I can understand you having to fight to get the help you need. I'm still not sure what all Daddy qualifies for. We wouldn't be where we are if my niece wasn't a Social Worker and able to go in and talk to the powers that be as Daddy's caseworker. DS called to talk to the Business director at the facility and never could get her to return her call. My niece called and she got right through. It is terrible that they do people like that. The only reason she talked to me the day she talked to me was because I caught her in her office.

Carol Sue Thanks for the article. I read most and listened to some of it. I noticed I could have it read to me so I took advantage of it. Actually that was perfect timing.

I woke up thinking about Daddy's diabetic room mate and realize that I don't want to go through all that. Plus I see all that we are going through with Daddy and decided that I want to take better care of myself. I decided this morning that today would be good day to start fasting. I wasn't sure when we or what we would eat today so I fasted until we came home. I did decide that I didn't want to cook so we got fried chicken dinner and brought it home. I am going to make today a OMAD day.

After reading the info you shared, I am going to get back to 2MAD within 8 hr eating window with 16 hr fast and then throw in there a couple of days a week with only OMAD. I'm not good at always exercising and I really liked learning that fasting is like exercising. I will still exercise, but I won't worry about it too much as long as I can do IF. I see why even a 9 or 10 day eating window works so well for women. In fact, I read somewhere that it some times works better for women.

Well, the minister and his wife did come and take what was theirs and a few things that Daddy said she could have. We parted friendly and peaceful, but DS and Daddy are still having difficulty with it. DS said it doesn't feel the same and Daddy is so disappointed in them. As for the rest of the stuff, DS took a lot, I took only a few things because I don't have room plus having no children to pass things down to, I felt the nieces and nephews should have them. Turns out that my baby sister's next to the oldest boy had room to put everything. So they moved it there. He will use some of it and the others including his mother can go through it to see what they want when they come here. Also if Daddy ever can use any of it again, it will be there for him. So over all everything went fine.

I'm tired and going to rest the day. Tomorrow we will stay home and then we will go see Daddy again Monday. I am absolutely whipped out, but glad that part of this situation is over.

Trish, I'm glad things went well today with your Dad's apartment and that the minister and his wife didn't cause a problem. I don't know what the problem is because they of all people should understand that things should go to family members first.

DH went out to a car cruise this evening and I just stayed home to watch TV. I fell asleep while watching, so now I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.

That woman never answered back to me about what Turmeric she was taking, so if I don't hear from her by tomorrow I am just going to pick on with free shipping and order it. My foot has hurt all day and the only thing I've done differently is stop the Turmeric. I will take the prescription pain meds at bedtime and see how that helps. I really don't want to buy another bottle from Walmart, but if I have to, I have to.

Hi everyone

to answer you about fasting and regular, vs my saying fasting and up days, I am using up day and regular day interchangeably I guess. If feels like an up day to me, because I am eating more and eating all day. On Friday before my flight, DH and I had supper out near the airport, so we could leave home in lots of time for the flight. You never know with traffic if you will get caught up, so it made more sense to do that. I had a beer with supper, and ate some nacho chips with cheese and chicken etc on it, as the menu had very little that I wasn't allergic to, what with this annoying citrus allergy.
Yesterday was mostly the travel day, I ate very little, and slept a lot with jet lag and poor sleep on the plane. I did have wine with supper and a little dessert, but walked a lot, including some pretty steep hills. Today, we will also be walking a lot, the museums are free on Sundays, and we decided that this is the day to do that. Our hotel is lovely, and quite expensive, glad I have DS to share the cost with her.

Momtopands, I am glad you have found some help for your daughter. My DD also has some mental health issues, mostly anxiety and some depression, and I worry about her not having health insurance, her meds run to some pretty high prices. I am hoping she can off them and onto something lower priced for the long run. Her counselling isn't free either, so she is spending quite a bit. Too bad she is no longer on my benefits, but she has aged out now. You daughter has a good advocate in you, and that will be great in the long run.

Good day to everyone else!

Fatmad Thanks for clarifying your fasting. Sounds pretty much like JUDDD's Alternate Day Diet. Glad you have safely made your destination and could check in with us.

Carol Sue I'm sorry the pain is back on your foot. Evidently the turmeric was helping. That is like me finding out that the berberine was helping me. I guess that is how we learn.

I actually went to bed around 1 am this morning but I slept a lot yesterday. I am battling a rash and although my FBS hasn't been running way high, I guess because it has been higher lately it indicates I've over done the carbs. The high was 185 yesterday, but then for me that is high. I started taking chewable Vitamin C because I read sometimes we aren't getting enough to lose weight etc and it may be causing the rash. I have a problem with ascorbic acid which is the reason I don't drink a lot of diet cold drinks. So I have cut that out too. I should order some Rose Hips Vitamin C. It doesn't do that to me and is much better quality V-C.

I'm still fasting and will break fast around 10am and go to my 2MAD starting today. If I can do my 2 meals 5 hrs apart, I will get better bs readings as well as longer fasting hrs. That would be mean an approx. 5:19 IF ratio. The article really helped me to see why IF works and the importance of going longer than 12 hr fast. Berberine works better with IF too. I am not sure I will do CAD low carb either although I was losing on it. I think I am going to just dow a 2MAD no CAD rules. I think eating 2 slices of the Sara Lee 45 cal bread won't hurt me in the morning. I like the avocado so I am going to mash one up and add lime juice to it like I did before and use it in place of butter on my toast. This way I get to keep my favorite breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast with avocado spread on it with a cup of coffee.

Then my main meal will just be a salad and a balanced meal so DH and I get one meal together of what we both like but cooked healthier. Then I won't eat anything else again until 10 the next morning. Friday I have to leave so early to go to beauty shop that I think I will make that a longer fasting day.

I'm sharing so I can get it into my head what I want to do... kind of planning ahead of time so I can get it in my mind. LOL Maybe then I can remember it. Perhaps I need to write out a plan to follow. LOL As we get older we kind of have to do that.

FBS was back down to 160 this morning so the fast helped. Only lost 1 lb of the 3 I gained this week so I definitely need to get control of my eating & exercise again. Hopefully now that Daddy is pretty much settled and I don't have responsibility of seeing to his meds and health needs, I figure I can concentrate on mine. Doctor's appointment in 2 months and last time A1c was 5.8 and he put me on a 6 month appointment. I would like to at least have a low 6 range so I can stay on 6 month appointments.

Y'all have a nice Sunday.

So we get breakfast with our hotel stay, and the breakfast room is open to 1030. So I had brunch at 10am and walked a million miles, (more like 20 thousand steps according to my tracker) taking in the sights, and then after a wee rest, went out for supper. Only thing is, I am having wine and a little dessert. Total calories for the day are about 1500, so I am good there, and obviously burning a few more than usual with the walking.
Otherwise things are good. I made a little sheet outlining my allergies and gluten intolerance in English, Portuguese and French. (French is more common here than spanish, go figure) and the restaurants have been very accommodating.

Carol, I hope the Tumeric comes soon, pain is no fun. I have been being more careful about the gluten, not having bran now, and the pain at the base of my thumb is getting better! wow, if I can rid myself of this burden, life would sure be better. Now, if sleep will keep getting better......

Keep trying what works for you friends.

best wishes
