Struggling to Remain Vigilant

Hi all. Just a vent...

I am really struggling to remain on top of checking my blood sugars. My mom passed away on January 20th, and I've just let it go...

My last A1C was a 5.8, and I eat very healthy, but still...

I see my diabetes doc on Friday, and she's going to ask me for my meter -which I can't give her because there are no readings on it for over a month!

No good... No good... :(

Why is this so hard? I'm usually so good about this too. I NEED to get back into being proactive and in the swing of things.

Wishing you peace and wellbeing. think of this doctor's appointment just as an opportunity to get back onto it.
I too let myself go over Christmas, and have gotten better since, and dropped some of the weight.
Imagine what might happen if you didn't have this appointment booked, a longer time out of control? More damage to your kidneys, nerves, blood vessels?
Pick up and don't blame yourself. Losing a parent is difficult at any age, and grief affects everyone, in different ways.
So, no blame, but be good to yourself from here on..... and eating well and caring for your blood sugars is being good to yourself, as is getting out for a walk every day. They are "treats" you are giving yourself.
blessings to you

For Me Finally 03-16-2017 08:37 PM

I never gave my doctor my machine or any real numbers for probably about 20 years. I ignored how bad my numbers were. My A1C was horrendous. Your last A1C was beautiful. Even if you cant give numbers they will know. Talk to your doctor, be open and honest. Not every diabetic is a perfect diabetic, your doctor should understand. I would love to have your last A1C. That was a great number.

Thanks :)

Well my A1C did go up... It was a 6.3. I have been doing better with checking.

well done. This is your wakeup call. Now keep testing, keep on your food plan, make sure it works. Get out for a walk. You CAN do this. We are here for you

Thanks so much!!!

Yes I'm trying. I have been doing better, so that's a plus. My doctor also put me on a once a week injection called Trulicity. Apparently it takes about 3 weeks to reach therapeutic level, so my BG's have been higher. Ugh. Diabetes is so frustrating sometimes :(

Good luck. Trish is on trulicity and is having good results. come join us in the chats and ask about it

Ok cool. My doctor said it takes a few weeks to reach therapeutic level. So I'm on week 2 right now, but haven't noticed a difference in my BG's.
