Does Taking Insulin Induce Weight Gain?

  • I had relatives on both sides who had diabetes. Im very careful not to eat too much chocolates or sweets.

I tested my blood sugar level yesterday while i was seeing fuzzy and it read 188. Is that normal for after eating 2 corn dogs and some juice?

I dont use insulin, and hope i never have to. I have only seen bad things happen to good people once they are stuck using that in their bodies...
  • Yes, insulin can cause weight gain. It's hard to tell if the reading of 188 is bad. It depends on how long it had been since you've eaten, and some other factors. I suggest that you get this checked out by your doctor. It's better to be diagnosed when you are still pre-diabetic so you can take steps to correct it early on. Once you become full blown diabetic, it is harder to control. There are other ways to control diabetes beside insulin, if it's caught early and controlled.

    Good luck to you.
