Trish, the only name your WOE needs is "Trish's Plan." If what works for you is to take the best features of two or more plans, then that's your plan. I always try to stay away from starchy carbs, but I know I will never do it 100%.

If you google "side effects of glimiperide" you will see where it says rash/itch, but from what I saw they are referring to an allergic reaction in the throat or windpipe that interferes with breathing. I didn't save the site I read it on. I didn't get this when I first started taking it, but back then I wasn't taking it every day or twice a day as it's prescribed. I've been taking it more lately and that's what makes me think it might be the cause. My rash gets really bright red sometimes, and my skin is rough. It looks like a radiation burn. Last night and today it was hardly itchy at all. It's still rough to the touch, but I think it would take a while to get my skin back to normal. One or two days wouldn't do it. It's odd that I never get it on my face or neck. It's on my upper and lower legs and arms, on the backs of my hands, on my back and buttocks, and a little on my belly. My prescription is for 1mg AM and PM. Sometimes I take half, sometimes I skip it altogether depending on my blood sugar reading. Occasionally, when I had a high reading, I took 2mg. The max is 8mg per day, and I have never been even close to that. I did notice that it said it is to be taken in the morning. I don't know why my doctor wrote for it to be taken twice a day.

Thanks Carol Sue you are right. I'm on Trish's Plan. I really think for me the key is to eat ONLY if and when I am hungry. I've been reading some on IE thread here on 3fc. One of the girls mentioned what she called eating defensively because of something I wrote. I never thought about it but I do eat defensively.

I think I had mentioned here one time that I can go for hours without eating if I'm busy and actually was not a big eater until I was grown. I very seldom ate breakfast and my normal eating was 2 meals a day growing up. In between marriages, many times I only ate 1 meal a day with a bite of something during the day that didn't even qualify as a snack. I just didn't get hungry. I got back to eating that way a few years ago and got screwed up when I joined an online IE group that said "You cannot go more than 5 hrs without eating". So I started adding a meal here and there and here I am again trying to learn when I'm hungry and when I'm not.

I eat a bite before I go somewhere in the mornings because I'm afraid I'll get hungry before I get back home. Not sure why and not sure where that fear comes from. Since the time when I did IF and didn't want to eat at night, many times I eat something around 7 or so even if I'm not hungry because I'm afraid I will get hungry around 9 or 10 and I think I should not be eating that late.

I really think that I need to learn to recognize true hunger and only eat if and when I'm hungry. I think all the "diet rules" I've learned over the years have really done a number on me. That is why I'm trying to learn how to eat like I did most of my thin life and not eat when I am not hungry. It just takes time to learn to break those bad habits and replace them with the good ones. I'm determined to get there because I know that is "Normal Eating" for me and when I can do it again, I believe it will all fall into place for me.

Hi Everyone I am back had to take a min a set down and look you all up. I have laundry screaming for me to throw clothes in the dryer. I went threw the attic today and got out all the sweater and long sleeves I have been saving over the years. Been trying to get everything washed up we have a bad cold spell headed this way and with all this weight loss I have no jacket now.
Carol Sue, Shannon, Trish Thanks. Well My Sugar is fine since i have dropped weight I was able to drop my Glimpzide and my blood pressure meds. I am still taking the Metformin and the gabaphenten and now I have to take mobic for all the arthritis in my knees that they became aware of when they had me do a Mri on them. MY knees have been fine up till about 2 months ago my left one starts hurting again. Now I have a issue with my toes rubbing in my shoes both of my big toe are like blood shot and the ones next to them the nails are gone I keep getting blisters under them. Dr has me going to a specialist about them now.
My Aunt is Doing better she went threw her Chemo and all her scans have come back normal as of right now. My Grand baby is growing like a weed they get big before you know it.
I am gonna see if I can attach some photos on here . I have been busy here thought I usually walk 6 to 8 miles a day, I do 10,000 plus steps a day their are several days I do 20,000. I am feeling good though I don't sleep all day now I am usually up by 7 am and I am in bed by 10 pm 11 at the latest But over all I jest feel great. I have so many neighbors who stop me and complement me on the weight loss. I have a certain route I take every day and they have gotten used to seeing me daily. Well I guess I better see if I can get this photo to attach. More later! The Pic in the Pink shirt is when I was 307.5 and the black was today at 207.5

Bonnie, those pictures are amazing! I am so proud of you. I remember when you first came here and were having medical problem and aches and pains. This just shows how weight loss and exercise can help you feel so much better and be healthier. I'm so glad you came back and shared this with us. We need to sit up and take notice!

Bonnie Wonderful pics and health improvements. I'm so proud of you for working through so many obstacles. You are an inspiration. So glad to have you back with us.

I did fine yesterday. Strange how when my weight is moving down that my fbs is not and I'm not eating all that much. I think I need to go back to the "dummies" book ( is a funny name) and read about staying committed. When you mentioned that part of the book Carol Sue I was not sure if I even read that part of the book. DH has to go get blood stick for PT today so I'll take the book to read that part while he is in the doc's office. However, I am eating sensibly and I have to believe that it is going to pay off. I honestly believe that if I can get the weight back off that the blood sugar will automatically come back down and stay down as long as I keep the weight off. So I am going to work at getting the weight off.

The Glucocil is curbing my appetite. Since I'm only eating 2 meals some days, I may go back to the original amount which was to be taken for only a few days to a week which is 2 Glucocils a day as long as it continues to curb my appetite and go back to taking 1000 mg of Metformin even if I have to cut it and take 500 mg 2x a day and see if that helps bring the fbs back down to normal.

I do remember reading somewhere that some people do have to give up grains/starchy carbs until they get their metabolic system corrected and then they can add them back in a little bit at a time. As much as I do not want to do Atkins again. I will do it IF I have to so that I can learn how many carbs my body can/will tolerate. I am determined NOT to let this defeat me. I am going to do this.

I do hope you win this battle, Trish. I have been able to get below 200 and stay there for a very long time, but I have not been able to lose any more and keep it off. I don't know why, but it seems that I don't even have that as a goal anymore. I know I have changed my eating habits and am eating so much healthier than I was before, and my lab results prove that it has improved my health. I know that I would get further improvements if I lost more weight, but I am not too hopeful right now. I'm not exactly depressing over it, but I just don't think it's going to happen. Maybe I just have to be happy with myself the way I am.

Just a quick flyby to say hi. I'm on "Trish's Plan" as Carol Sue called it and I'm doing in Intuitively using MFP. I'm only using MFP to keep up with my progress not to eat up to a certain amount of calories, but to just keep track of how I'm doing. I'm also using it to keep up with how much sodium I'm getting as I think I eat too much.

Yesterday, I read a discussion the 3fc Does it work thread was having about MFP. I know I eat pretty healthy, but I need to keep up with my portions better. I think as long as I think of it as a tool and not as "diet", I will be okay.

I may not check back in during the weekend as I'm trying to get interested in something else in life instead of being on the computer so much. So I hope everyone is doing well and y'all have a great week end and I catch y'all Monday. Stay warm as I see most of us are having an extremely cold weekend and some even next week.

Hi ladies,
Stitches are coming out tomorrow and we are going to Raleigh to pick up my machine that has been being repaired and do a little shopping. My MIL's house is finally on the market. I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving. My SIL is due Thanksgiving day so we'll soon be meeting our niece. The rest of this year is going to be busy! I have been in high carb land ever since getting hurt. Hubby has been bringing me biscuits for breakfast and we've eaten out alot in general. Hopefully I can start cooking again. I've done a few crockpot meals but otherwise we've eaten out a ton. My weight is up about 5 lbs. i have been really depressed and cranky with not being able to cook, sew or clean my house like I like it. I hope things get back to normal soon. I did finally sew a little today. I made some curtain tie backs for my daughter's room. The pic is sideways for some reason but you get the idea.

Shannon I read your article in the magazine while at the beauty shop. It really wasn't a bad article. I think it was just too short. It really was good. Curtain tie is very nice. Glad your MIL house is finally on the market. Hope the finger feels better when the stitches are removed.

Thanks Trish!

The stitches coming out was awful, so painful I almost vomited and I am not a squeamish person! Thank God that is over! The doc said it looked good, no infectionand healing nicely.

My machine is back home, here she is in case you haven't seen one before. I am excited to take her for a spin soon! I have no idea why all my pics come out sideways but it happens on my sewing forum too but not on other social media sites.

Shannon, my step-son sends us pics and they always turn out sideways, too. We don't know why. That is quite a contraption you've got there! LOL I wouldn't have the first clue where to start with it. Have fun!

Glad your stitches are out. One hurdle at a time, girl.

Shannon My daughter was a burn victim. One time the doctor told me to just take them out myself and was upset that I had to kind of dig under the stitches that had skin grown over. I never would do it again. I couldn't stand the idea of me hurting her to remove them so always paid for a doctor to do them from then on. I know you are glad that part is over. Love your machine. I would love to have one, but I don't think I could thread it. Enjoy!!!

Carol Sue DH has been itching so badly around his waist where his waist band is, but no rash at this time. I told him about how you thought the Glimiperide was causing your itching. He had me look up side effects of Metformin too. Did you know it causes itching as well as rashes? He had me cut his in half starting today. It also causes a lot of other side effects too. I stopped mine as of last night because of the loose bowels I'm experiencing again. I will let you know how he does with the lower dose as far as the itching goes.

I noticed before that when I didn't take the Metformin that my fbs was lower and I was surprised to find this morning that my fbs was 125. So I'm not sure I need to take it any way. I'm not going to take any meds today just to see how I do and then I will start back tomorrow or the next slowly. I want to find out what I'm taking that causes the problem.

I'm tired, but I'm sure it is not only from the potty trips, but also the fact that I am eating lower carb although not extra low. Doing MFP does show me that I am getting a lot of sodium, but if I do end up lowering carbs, Atkins says we need a little more sodium. So will see about that one too.

Ordered another book. I know, I know. I wasn't going to do this any more. But I read something about brown/yellow fat. I didn't want to spend $40 for a book so looked it up on Amazon and found a $10 book about it. Should get it by Wednesday. I did read reviews where a few people read it from the library and decided they wanted to buy it. I'll have look up the name for you if you want to check it out. Supposedly if we can get our body fat to be brown instead of yellow, we will be able to use our insulin better and it become normal and we will lose weight easier. Will see.

DH wants to go to Sam's club today or tomorrow. I don't feel like going at all, but tomorrow is supposed to be raining. Not sure what we will do.

Hope everyone is fine.

Ended up taking all my meds except the Metformin. Things finally settled this evening. I'll see how it goes without it, but will continue to take the Glucocil.

Carol Sue The new book is The Brown Fat Revolution by James Lyons. You can read about it on Amazon if you like.

Good night.

Trish, I have read about brown fat in the past. I think regular exercise increases brown fat over time. I just don't understand how you know if your fat is brown or yellow. LOL

I haven't had the bright red rash for a few days and only had itching one time. I did need a glimiperide yesterday and took it but had no reaction. My skin is still very very dry. I don't know what to do to combat that except for lotions. I think I will google and see if there are any foods that help with dry skin treating it from within. I know drinking water is supposed to be good for the skin. We have our furnace running now with the colder weather and that could also lead to dry itchy skin.

Y'all stay warm.
