Unhappy This is sad!

I called 2 Clinics in a neighboring State to inquire if they have Endocrinologists on Staff who will accept my Insurance. There is only 1 at both Clinics. One isn't accepting new Patients with my Insurance, the other isn't accepting new Patients (not sure about my Insurance). Even if my Primary Physician referred me, it is doubtful I can see either Endos. Couple Weeks back, I called the American Diabetes Association. The Rep I spoke with told me about a Program they have called the Physician Recognition Program. There is 1 Physician, M.D. and Internist located in the above neighboring State. She solely partners with private Companies with private Insurance! This is sad!! Some of us Diabetics fall between the cracks, and it's hurting us, because we cannot get the necessary Medical care we need. I don't remember my late Father having difficulty getting an Appointment with an Endocrinologist. He saw 1 for Years, then when that Physician retired, my Dad began seeing the new Endocrinologist. This is how much Health care has changed in the last 12-15 Years!!

you know butter, I know our canadian system is far from perfect, but I have never heard anything that has made me want to embrace american style health care. But most of us would choose the problems we know I guess.
I'm sorry you are having a difficult time finding the right doc to take care of you. I hope your doctor will help you find the right specialist. This is a real drag for you.

Fatmad,
Still haven't found a doctor, and decided against driving 136 mile round trip to see an Internist who specializes in the complete treatment of Diabetes. Opted against, because I would probably have appointments every 3 months. Simply cannot afford the gas.
