Recently Diagnosed

  • Shortly after the new year, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I'm trying through diet and exercise to get my sugar under control. I joined this forum after a friend recommended it to me. This whole thing is pretty new to me and I'm just looking for a place for support along this journey.
  • Hello, Timoba! Welcome to 3FC! I was diagnosed with diabetes about five years ago. I hope you are successful with managing your sugar levels with diet and exercise. Just 30 minutes of walking every day does wonders! How I wish I had known that BEFORE I became diabetic!

I hope you find great support here, and the info on the site helps you on your journey.
  • to our forum, Timoba ~ drop by our "Keepin' in Touch" thread; that is where we chat on a daily basis in this forum about Diabetes. Some are Type 1, Type 2, and some (like myself) are Pre-Diabetic or Metabolic Syndrome. Diabetes runs in our family, so I was glad that my doctor suggested I get this under control now; he (and I) firmly believed we can ward that disease off if I am aware & diligent from this day forward. With a healthy BALANCED diet and regular exercise, I am doing very well now, and so can you ...

MS ELLEN ~ nice to see you over here again; I sooo agree with you about the walking ...
  • Welcome!!!
Greetings and welcome to the forums, Timoba. This is a great community. You will find plenty of info and support. I was diagnosed at the end of August 2009. Through diet and exercise, I have been able to manage my diabetes and stay off meds. I wish you luck in achieving your goals.
