Hi, all. BGL a little high this a.m. Probably because I took the wrong pill last night and didn't take the glucohage/glucotrol. I have them all counted out and separated into little boxes, but i opened the wrong box last night. Senility visits. lol. I've been bad food wise. My weight is creeping up. Must get myself together.
Meowee - It's good to hear from you. We miss you. Rosey - It's nice and springy here too, but a little on the cool side. I hope you get good lab results. |
Evening all!
Emily and I were pretty lazy over the holiday-DH was on call all w/e and the holiday, and it was rainy on and off. Beautiful rainbow on Monday evening during a sun shower. Tomorrow is the last day of school for Emily. Mixed feelings on that one every year. Thursday she is going spelunking with the Girl Scouts, so her summer break starts off with some fun. The boys will be home at the same time for break at the end of June, just when Emily gets back from Camp! Can you spell CHAOS? Good kind of chaos-the boys haven't seen eachother since Christmas. We are waiting to hear from the bank so we can close on this little temporary house. We can then move, get the repairs done on the big house and get it on the market. I hope we can get it sold without taking a big loss, and get started on the new house. Ooooohh, maybe I can put the boys to work while they are home! Sounds reasonable. We'll see what happens. Have a great evening and Wednesday. Kathy |
Hi Meowee!!!
Not much to report, still keeping my food/GL journal and still behaving. I think I should see a family doctor so I can get a prescription for my supplies, I've been paying for everything and is really expensive. |

Hi Everyone!! :D I hope your weekend is going well.
I am getting very frustrated with my fasting blood sugar levels. Last night I went to bed and my BS was a pretty normal 110 but I woke up and it was 125. Why!?! I have heard of the "dawn effect" but I am not sure what to do about it. :?: All of this monitoring does my head in sometimes. I am doing my best, losing weight, exercising, following my meal plan... but high BS readings still make me feel like I got a bad report card or something! I was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago and I just got my A1C back and it is 8.6. :( The past few weeks, my BS has been mostly 100-130, with occasional times where it will go up to 150-160. So, the A1C has got to come down eventually, right? Luckily, they found that my cholesterol levels are (surprisingly!) good. My cholesterol was at 147 and my triglycerides were at 127, which my doctor said was good. So, I guess at least there's that. |

Yep . . . I am still alive, but definitely not kicking very hard . . . my doctor is still dithering between Asthma and Pneumonia, or some combination thereof, as being the basis of my problems. At least he has finally decided to refer me to a Respiratory Disease Specialist and I go to see this new guy on Thursday. I also have an appointment next Monday for a CAT scan. Obviously my constant 'at home cat-scanning ' doesn't do the job. In the meantime, he, the GP took me off Prednisone, an oral steroid, because it's one of the worst things you can give a diabetic (doubled my BGL levels) and it has so many other side effects as well (however, it was working wonders for the wheezing and coughing after only four or five doses) and put me on Symbicort which is an inhaled steroid, combined with Salbutamol, an inhaled bronchodilator. I do get a tiny bit of wheezing relief from the Salbutamol, but nothing but high blood sugar levels from the Symbicort. Obviously I hope the specialist will find a way to temper the Prednisone so I can keep using it. Other than that . . . nothing going on in my world. I am thinking of you gang. |
Hi, all. usual summer weather here - overcast and cold. BGL was 106 this a.m. Lowest it's been in awhile. I didn't do anything different. Still eating bad. Weight up. Sigh.
Meowee - You're sure having a difficult time. I hope the docs come to a concensus on cause and treatment and you get better soon without raising your bgl. Rosey - I hope your leg gets better soon. |
Nice to see Meowee and Purrrecious the cat back for a bit.
Well, May was a good month as I actually lost five pounds! BGL was a tad high this morning but that was explained when I spotted my evening glyberide on the dresser. Duh! June should be a good month with local strawberries coming in and lots of asparagus and rhubarb still available. My garden is still not tilled and planted - too wet - but I am hoping for a good veggie crop later this summer. I've been a bit more active with outside work and hope to get back into walking this month too. Yes, my knee hurts a lot but it hurts whether I use it or not so.... besides the dogs need exercise aside from chasing each other around the yard. |
Hi everyone..another cloudy day here..am feeling a little better..been babysitting my grdd, she sure can keep me busy :dizzy:..meowee am so happy u are back, hope your docs can solve your troubles..i take prednisone once in awhile too,but dont see to much diff in my sl's.. i feel like i have lost as my clothes are looser..ruth congrats on your loss wtg..rosetta glad to here from u too..((((hugs))) and have a great day everyone rosey

Hey, HOpe all is well with everyone. I have a quick questions....
I've been taking Metformin ER for about 2 months now and tonight i've felt very nauseated. I dont know if it would be the medication after this long or if it is due to my period. Anyone exp this after being on metformin er for awhile? |
MONI, I doubt that it's a side effect of the Metformin after so long. Way back in the dark ages when I got periods, I frequently felt nausea just before the event.
Busy day ahead so I must plan my food. It's way to easy to just grab something when you are flying by! I have to work a Bingo at supper time and must take food so the darned canteen doesn't tempt me. I haven't had fries for over a year and don't intend to break that record with greasy, soggy food! Have a great Tuesday. |
Hi everyone..a quiet day here..my dh has gone to anchorage to visit a friend in the hosp..so its just me and the dogs today..my sl was 104 this am..am planning on doing some srapbooking and making the dh a nice dinner..ruth i love to play bingo,i used to go once a week..not so easy to do now..moni,i have never had stomach issues with metformin, hope u are feeling better..u to mewoee..(((hugs))) for all rosey

This forum is really helpful. My father suffered from stroke because of diabetes. This motivates me in reading different forums to make me aware more of diabetes.
