Do I need to worry about lows?

I was diagnosed with type 2 about 7 months ago. I've lost quite a bit of weight since then and exercise regularly. I'm on no meds for my blood glucose control - diet and exercise. Anyway, my numbers are absolutely great, usually in the 4's and 5's, even after meals (sorry I don't know what that is for you Americans). I have recently had some readings as low as 3.6. I don't think I need to worry because I'm not on meds, but I am worrying anyway. When I get a reading in the 3's, I normally will have a small snack with carbs in it. I am eating a balanced healthy diet, and have been increasing my carb consumption as my readings have gotten lower. At what reading should I really worry? Thanks.

Hmmm. Better check it out with your doc as very low readings can affect your funtioning. You certainly are doing the right thing. I assume your carbs are whole grain and fruit rather than sugar.
Congratulations on being able to control your BGL with diet alone and on your weightloss.
(By the way, American readings are 18 times ours so divide American readings by 18 to get the Canadian equivalent.)

Thank you Ruthxxx. I've asked my doctor, and although he raised his eyebrows and was surprised, he didn't 'think' it should be a problem. I always think many heads are better than one though, and thought someone who is also not on meds may have had the same experience. Perhaps I'll make an appointment with the local diabetes clinic and ask them. Thanks again.
