peanut - tell us what happened!!! i'm dying to know what the doc said

I went to his office, and I told him EVERYTHING...from my manic episodes to my paranoia. He says paranoia is definitely a side effect of some medications. He asked me how I was feeling mood-wise and I told him 'a whole lot better'. He says I need to give a certain drug at least 6 weeks to be certain...I asked him if I'm bipolar, and he doesn't think I am. He says my mania might be caused by my being out of school, and craving mental stimulation/a sense of accomplishment.

Well...I'm on a higher dose of Wellbutrin now...and oddly enough (although it's been 3 days), the paranoia has subsided. Or is it just psychological (of course it is)?

Thanks soooo much for your help! I also bought 'Feeling Good' by David Burns, so that'll be my self-cognitive therapy.

hey fantastic - isn't that great! i'm so pleased your doc was so helpful and didn't jump to any conclusions. will be good if the higher dose does what you want. i will keep my fingers crossed for you.

speaking of dreams, i have dreams (not necessarily even bad dreams) but i scream and yell during them. Does anyone else have that (i take effexor, which has also caused wt gain for me and uncontrollable cravings)

i'm generally happier if i don't remember my dreams. most of them are crap and some are nightmares. i have far more dreams than most people, even if only asleep 15 mins. apparently i don't get enough deep delta sleep (except when i'm drunk lol)

Ditto on the untreated bipolar.

FWIW, I started on lithium and gained a lot of weight. I hear other BP meds are like that, too. But now I take Lamictal, which doesn't tend to make people gain weight.

Good luck! Keep posting here; we all support each other. :)
