Sweetie, add this CyberGrandma to the list. You can do it. That damned family doctor had better listen today BUT, if she doesn't, you CAN go to the counsellor! Be sure to come back and tell us how things go.

You might wish to print out your last post and take it with you to your doctor. You accurately described your lashing out and Mom, your internal upset and feelings both mentally and physical pain from overeating, what you ate and how you are unable to concentrate and focus on your schoolwork.

Good idea Marble

Remember, each attempt to go for help, is one foot closer to entering that door.

I agree with Ellis, you've got such wonderful insite and wisdom at your age. Let us know what your doctor says.

HUGS !!!

I went to the counsellor on campus, because my doctor didn't have any openings today.

I told her everything, and she was very understanding. She didn't correct me, nor judge me. She just listened as I poured my heart out to her. My appointment with her was a 2pm. Then, after my talk with her, she decided it'd be best for me to see a physician. So by 3pm I had walked over to the UBC hospital, and talked to a physician.

The physician says I have compulsive tendencies, and that I may have depression. She prescribed me some Paxil, which prevents compulsive thinking. She noticed the pattern in which I binge, and she thinks the carb cravings have to do with my seratonin levels.

So by 4pm I was at the University pharmacy picking up my prescription.

Quite a productive day.

I don't think I could have done this without the support I recieved here on the board. Even my counsellor said it takes alot of courage for me to talk to her.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Well would you look at YOU!!!

Now just remember, if the medication doesn't work, don't get bummed out, just go right back to your doctor and tell him/her. There are so many different kinds and its just a matter of finding one that works for you.

Your on your way little chickie

i'm so happy for you that you are finally getting the help you need. i've dealt with depression for the last 10 years and was dx'd bipolar a few months ago. let me tell you, i totally understand (as do the other ladies who've already posted) the "embarassment" of everything. how hard it is to finally talk to someone but it's so worth it. i wish you nothing but success with your med and yes most definitly continue to post
