lol lol lol
leenie you are too cute! you know I'm here girlie. hmmmmmm Tippy...I think we were hoping for a little bit more info then that you little tease! hehe but I guess we'll take what we can get. I'm pooped. Dropped off Christian (youngest ds) and his girlfriend at the school at 11 last night to get on the chartered bus headed to Florida. He blessed my little heart tho, gave me a hug right there in front of everybody. lol and then he called me from his cell phone at 7 this morning to tell me they were just going thru Mobile, Alabama, and that they will be in Florida in a few hours. Said they didn't get any sleep last night bec it is impossible to sleep on a bus with 50 wound up people! hehe they should sleep good tonight. But it just tickled me that he called to tell me what was going on this morning. That is not his nature but I sure like it when it makes the effort. I am taking my mom to lunch today for Mother's Day (early). She will be spending Mother's Day with her mom and it's just easier for us to get together today. We are going to her favorite chinese buffet. Gonna give her a pair of gold earrings from QVC that she pointed out to me a few weeks ago. ;) I'm thinking about going walking after work today, but I did the stupidest thing last night. I noticed a battery needed changing in a smoke detector that is up high and I grabbed the closest chair to me, which was the computer chair (a rolling secretary's chair) and as I stood half way up on it, it rolled right out from under me (duh) and I fell. (what a sight). I bruised my left elbow and left ankle and they are a beautiful blue. I a little sore this morning (bec I am getting so dang old) and my ankle is a little puffy, but it doesn't hurt too much to walk. Guess I will decide at 4:00 how I feel about it. So am I over my 10 lines yet? hehe Liz - I'm praying for your daughter and wisdom for mom. I know how hard it is girlie. The teen years are soooooooooooo challenging! hugs! I better do some work ... later gaters! hugs, cathy |
HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Cathy.......I really need all the help I can get.......what ever made me think I would be qualified for the job! Liz |

Hi Gals
Youngest grandson Joshua is 4 today...waiting for daughter so we can take him to Chuckie Cheese for lunch! Later ;) :dizzy: :D Cin |
WOWOWOW Joshua is 4 already, pheew time flys.
Hi girlies... Hey Tippy ^^^^^ ;) Cathy ouch.........relax today. |
Liz, having raised a DD and am now watching a GD grow up with ADHD, I could write a book on it!
First of all, don't let her see that it is bothering you. Be matter-of-fact about it. If she sees that in you, she can do the same with the other girls. My motto when I was growing up was "Never let them see you cry!" and I've passed that down and it works. Once, when some girls were being mean and teased me about the way I walk, I stopped dead in my tracks and told them that they'd damned well get used to it cause there wasn't a f*cking thing I could do about it! That shut them up for a bit! Be casual about it. Tell your DD that the opinion of those little fools doesn't mean a thing and they are entitled to their opinion. BUT, it really doesn't matter to anyone but them. One day, Kayla, my GD was here and we were talking about how one girl calls her LiceHead. I burst out laughing and told her that when I hear that, I imagine her walking around school with a huge stuffed Lice on her head as a hat. We both laughed and laughed and I said that girl needs a life. |
Tippy exactly ! the girls that mock have issues, but sometimes its hard to make the little ones understand that, especially when they are in the midst of being embarassed infront of a bunch of classmates.
I know that time is going to come when I will have to deal with Grace coming home hurt b/c of mean kids. Haven't quite figured out how I'm going to deal w/it or what I'm going to say. On one hand I would want to say, call them names back, but the adult in me says, no two wrongs don't make it right. Its a tough situation. I wish I had the answer. But the only thing that keeps popping up in my head is that the girls are going to have to learn how to defend themselves and not soak in all the nasties because it can carry w/you your entire life. Sigh.... Liz, what do you do ? what have you said to help comfort your dd ? I'm taking notes here ;) |
Hi Gals,
I am back and I really feel like :dizzy:  :) :p :^: :dizzy: after Chucke Cheese and an hour wait on a pizza............I dropped big $$$$ for that too! I did come out with a free party package with pizza, tokens,& drinks for 4 for the next time!! :) Good for me for speaking up.....graciously I might add...there is a nice way to handle everything and get the better results than setting a bad example before the kids! ;) Personally I think profanity is not an answer to anything! It doesnt solve a thing and I dont mind sharing that! ANYONE can cuss...................... ! Cathy.......I dont think I would walk......so sorry about your accident on the chair...........did you change the battery? Hope so! I leave for work soon.have a good afternon you all! Cin ;) |
I taught my DD and GD not to react...to just ignore the taunts. Don't blink an eye! When bullies don't get a reaction, it isn't fun for them. Ever hear the term "poker face"? Well, that's what I did and my DD did too. Now, my GD has it down to a science.
Also, interestingly enough, a girl complemented my DG one day because she always has something nice to say about everyone. Now that's a good combo--a poker face and a kind heart. I told her that calling names out loud is so petty-so beneath her. I did give her permission to say the names under her breath though. :D I guess we have to raise our DD's to have enough self esteem that the opinions of others mean nothing to them. (Edited cause I didn't use the correct English!) |
Good morning all
It's a beautiful day here today.....but the last 3 days were cloudy, raining & overcast. I felt sad for 48 hours....then the sun came out yesterday.....by the afternoon I was fine.....I feel good today. I did better with food yesterday....am trying an eating plan....like the Mediteranian way of eating. I find....when I do an eating plan with lots of carbs.....even thought they are the good ones....high in fiber....I seem to want to pig out all the time.....I seem to do better with less carbs. Liz....are any of us qualified for the job of parenthood?.....it's a learning process.....when DS1 was 13.....a boy at school elbowed him in the chest....it was at the lockers.....knocked to the other locker across the hall.....this kid was 6' tall....mine was less than 5' tall at the time....he was 13 then....when DS1 came home he told me....he had chest pain....took him to Dr....he had bruised ribs. I called the school....they had the parent of the boy call me........she said my boy wouldn't do anything like that.....I said to her....your kid is 6' tall....mine is less than 5' tall & he had to go to the Dr.....then she apoligized. I think this kind of thing has been happening for a long time. Well....I better get something done around here. Bobbie....aka....April |
Thanks everyone for your sharing and support.
I basically have been dealing with all this with lots of talking, hugging, kissing to start with......I try to have dd see the part she plays in it and what she can do to change things.....part of what has happened has been due to choices she has made.....and continues to make......for example 1 Does she reach out to others? 2 Is she the type of person others feel better being around? 3 Does she notice when others are unhappy and try to include them 4 Does she gossip? 5 Does she try to be aware of what is going on around her? Her biggest thing against her is that she doesn't feel the need to make an effort with others. She just thinks that good things should happen by osmosis. I do beat myself up sometimes as I wonder what I could have done differently..to help her be successful in relationships. Thanks everyone. I'll keep you posted.......life is difficult. Love is not enough.....it takes a lot of work and effort to be successful. That being said I love my kids to bits and am gonna keep plugging away and holding my head up so that they realize that we can and will survive. Eliz |
Liz...oh, how we want to take the pain away! And we can't and we know we can't, but we want to anyway!

So true Tip Liz |
Present!
It's been a LONG time since my last post. A lot has been going on here-too much to go into right now. I've been lurking, and you're all in my thoughts.
Liz: I'm so sorry that DD is having probs at school. Kids-girls especially-can be awfully mean at that age. I know what it's like to go through it on both sides. All you can do is what you're already doing-giving her a lot of love and support. :) Cathy: OUCH! :( How are you feeling today? Better, I hope. I hope you and your DH work things out. Men and money  Noodles: It's good to see you back after your surgery :D CIN: Chuckie Cheese :p it's been a long time for me. The pizza is overpriced-but it's nice to watch the kids have fun :D Leenie, Tippy, April: It's good to see you all again :D AprilPepper: Glad you're here :D ! See you all SOON! |
