JesikaBeth,

I don't know much about giving up smoking. I do know that giving up smoking is one of the hardest thing a person can do. I am so glad I never got hooked. I have tried it a couple of times, but Jennifer made me promise to stop, so I did.

Keep us updated on how you are doing. :)

Lisa, starting smoking is a HUGE regret of mine. I can't seem to stay quit, and I've quit dozens of times. Ugh. BTW, PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Here's a blurb on it:

"Polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS, is a condition in which a woman's levels of the sex hormones are out of balance. This leads to the growth of ovarian cysts (benign masses on the ovaries)."

According to the PCOS awareness association, PCOS has a lot of potential symptoms including, but not limited to:

•Insulin Resistance or Diabetes
•Weight gain
•Fatigue
•Unwanted hair growth
•Thinning hair on the head
•Infertility
•Acne
•Mood changes
•Pelvic pain
•Headaches
•Sleep problems

My doctor casually mentioned that she believes I have had PCOS "for a while", which frustrated me because nobody cared to enlighten me on this diagnosis. It explains a whole lot. Unfortunately, if one is not trying to conceive, PCOS tends to be swept under the rug quite a bit :(

Hey ladies,

I went to the house again today. I sat down on the big bedroom floor and started picking up Jennifer's homework assignments from her school years. The huge trash bag her homework was in, had busted open so I sat there and picked them up, piece by piece and put them in a new trash bad. I did not want to put them in a box, boxes take up too much space in my car, trash bags are easier to lug around.

I am so sore tonight. I have to go to the dollar store in the morning, get more bags and ibuprofen. I did make a little leeway today, you can actually see the floor on the right side of the big bedroom now. I am probably going to have to go the house every day this week, if my body lets me.

That's about it for now. Have a great Tuesday evening.

Hugs! I hope you are feeling better

Well it's my Friday :carrot:

Yesterday it flooded here in Houston pretty bad, so it was an impromptu day off work (only after getting stuck in the flooding for 3 hours, I managed to turn around and get back home.)

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Not much planned, and gratefully so. Tomorrow will be busy though. I'm meeting a couple of friends at different times for coffee, then heading to my psychiatrist appointment, and tomorrow night I have date night with my wife.

Well, I hope everyone has a good day, and a great upcoming weekend :grouphug:

See ya'll on Monday!

Is your sister living in your mom's house just now? It does seem like a long time to have done nothing with it - I hope the lawyer can help move things along.

PCOS is ovarian cysts, it's not serious, but just messes with your hormones - you can end up with bad skin, facial hair and gain weight.

Coop, I made even more progress today. I am normally not an organized person but today, I kicked some ***. I went through a bunch of clothes, threw out most. I kept my sheets, on all the beds upstairs. I think I can wash them and get them clean. It's worth a try, sheets are expensive. I also bagged up my curtains. I found a bunch of stuff from my youth, which I kept.

Tomorrow, I go to the other side of the bedroom. (Yes, it's a huge room) I have a lot to go through on that side. Jennifer is going to help me this weekend. I decided today that I can't do it all by myself so I asked her for help.

Yes, my sister is still living at mom's. The house seems to be almost ready to put on the market so we'll see.

JesikaBeth whew, what a jerk that co-worker is! I hope your boss actually does something about it, sometimes they take the 'work it out among yourselves, girls" attitude

Hi and :welcome: to balladofsalad and I hope you come here to vent and talk if that helps you :)

Hi Monica and Hi Coop I hope you ladies are happy today :)

I called the eye surgeon yesterday, to say that I had to arrange for the surgery and what the beginning steps were? I guess I am VERY sensitive to the phone manners of people and I have to say, the receptionist was not very warm..but I won't let that deter me! she said the surgeon has to look at my records and would get back to me. The night driving is getting worse  and in the daytime things are getting blurrier.

tomorrow I have to take my car to the mechanic, it is making a grinding noise that might be brakes or not, i hope it's not expensive  it's always something isn't it!

Hi Holly, it's great to see your post.

Yeah, I'm trying really hard to not think about how much I've got to do before next week. If I do, I might freak.

There is nothing laying on the floor now. (right side of the room) Everything is either boxed or sacked up. Trash is in the corner, in trash sacks. Dammit, I should have taken a couple of pics. It looks really good. I've put signs on what I'm keeping and reminded the men that the mattresses go.

I've got so much of Jennifer's school work that I saved over the years. My mom didn't save any of mine, I wanted Jennifer to have hers long after I'm gone. Maybe someday, she'll understand just how much I love her.

Oh my goodness, I hope you can get some relief to your night driving. Keep us updated. I do so love to read your posts. :)

While she didn't quite realize the extent, she did take responsibility and apologized. She asked me to bring it to her attention if she does it again. So, things are ok. Hopefully they stay that way!!!

JesikaBeth, I am so happy that things have been worked out. I was worried about you. Work is hard enough without that crap. You don't need that. :)

JesikaBeth, well, that sucks. Can she help you now? I'd keep on her.

Hi ladies, I decided to stay home today. I have slept most of the day away, it's 4 pm and I've had 2 big naps today. I don't know why but I have always been like this. When I am emotionally or physically stressed, I can sleep like a bear. I dread going back tomorrow. I am just hoping that after a good night's sleep, I will feel a little more ready to tackle what needs doing. Think good thoughts tonight so I can bounce back tomorrow. Honestly, tonight, I absolutely dread going back to the house tomorrow. I feel like this is a never-ending job, even though it's not.

Jennifer is gone tonight. She'll be back later tomorrow. I'm here alone tonight.

I guess that is about it for now. Keep me in your thoughts. Talk to you all soon.

Hello!

We're back from our cruise! We had so much fun and heard so much awesome music!!! :D I don't have time for personals right now, but just wanted to pop in to read all of the posts and get caught up and say hello.

lisaloveshearts 01-21-2017 08:46 PM

Hi ladies,

I am just trying to relax tonight. I got so much done today. I got all my scrapbooking stuff put carefully in trash bags. I went through the bookshelf in the green bedroom and picked out some books to save. The rest is getting thrown out. I'd save them and give them away but man, it's all I can do to get these bedrooms ready. I have done all the work by myself. Jennifer just texted me to see if I need her help. You all would not believe how much packing and throwing out of items, I have done in the last 5 days. I'm trying not to think about how much is left for fear I will cry.

I just keep thinking, there is an end, there is an end, there is an end. I also got stung by a wasp today. It was in a bunch of clothes on the floor, I was sorting them and it stung stomach. That hurt like a mother ****er.

I looked in Jennifer's small bedroom this afternoon and she did an awful job on going through her stuff. First of all, her room is a mess, you couldn't even see the floor.
I found an fitbit. I found matching shoes. I went through all the stuff on her bedside table, it was piled high. I'm a little pissed, she could have done a lot more work on her room to help me. I took the 2 small black tables out of her room, after I unpiled them from her crap. I was going to give them to her but I'm keeping them now. I did the work, I keep them.

I have a little more work in her room, a bit more work in the green bedroom and have a lot in the big bedroom. I'll post some pictures tomorrow to show you how much I have done.

I'm sorry to ***** about this stuff. I'm just need to vent. I'm tired.

Have a great Saturday night.

VermontMom 01-22-2017 09:30 AM

Kathleen, welcombe back! so glad you had a great time! and hope to hear about it :)

Lisa WOW you are kicking *** girl :D that would be cool if you did take some before/after pics, it helps your sense of acomplishment I think. So sorry to hear about the wasp sting!! :( hate those things.

My husband, sister and I had to clean out our father's condo when he passed, so I have a small idea of the huge task you are doing. I was wondering, when you have to throw stuff out, do you have curbside pickup? or have to take it somewhere? A huge part of the clean up process is the 'getting rid' part! sorry to hear Jennifer did not do a good job on her part . That's disappointing.

It broke my heart a little bit when you said that you hoped Jennifer would realize some day, how much you love her  maybe she doesn't show it but I know she does!!! how could she not :)

Hi to Coop, Monica, JesikaBeth! I hope everyone's doing OK>

I did a stupid thing last night, I made a pan of lemon bars  For as much as I always am thinking and obsessing about weight, I go ahead and made lemon bars  It's like 1 alcoholic saying to the other, 'lets get a keg" we ate half the pan last night!!

My boss is still such a jerk. We (3 employees) have a Tip jar, and when I was leaving, I dumped out the bills to divide up. The Jerk Boss sees the dollar bills and made a comment about how much there was. I said, i'ts because I greet them nicely and take care of them and smile alot" and he says, 'no, its because of the great food I give them' I think he wanted the money too

Tomorrow will be 1 week that I called the eye surgeon's office and haven't heard back yet. Do I call again and risk being thought a pesky patient?? I really wanted to get the ball rolling on this. God knows I am dreading 1) having my eyeballs cut into and 2) paying somewhere around $3000 per eye. (I have a huge deductible on my blue cross/blue shield) But I want some good vision SOON.

Gotta get ready for work. Lisa, I thank you for saying you like to read my posts :D because lord knows this was a long one

Good thoughts and love to everyone!!

EasySpirit 01-22-2017 11:24 AM

Kathleen, I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your cruise! It makes me feel like booking one. I haven't been on one in more than ten years - a rough crossing of the North Atlantic soured me! I am looking forward to your next post.

EasySpirit 01-22-2017 11:27 AM

Holly, your boss is something else! I did a pro bono case once that was a group of coffee shop employees against their boss taking their tips, and I won! He had to pay much more than he got, because the judge agreed that there was no way to tell how much he had taken.

As far as the eye doctor goes, I have used this method - phone them and say something to the effect of, "I have been having issues with my phone, and I am not sure who phoned, so I thought it best to call again "- then state your case. Do not give them time to say they called or did not call, and they will probably be relieved and be accomodating. It works for me!

EasySpirit 01-22-2017 11:34 AM

Lisa, I know what a big job it is to empty a house! Where are you going to store your possessions until you decide where you are going to live? When we sold our parents' house, I cleaned out three rooms in the attic - college books, Halloween costumes, old luggage, etc. and only left furniture. One of my sisters hired someone to clean out the basement. When this man saw the furniture in the living room, he asked my sister what we were going to do with the furniture, and my sister told him he could have anything he wanted. He took a bedroom set and two reclining chairs. We then had Salvation Army come for some some furniture and St. Vincent dePaul for the rest. We put anything they did not want on the curb, and it was snatched right up! Children's table and chairs, lamps, filing cabinets - we were amazed as it is not that busy a street.

How are things coming with your mother's house? Is your sister going to move out of it, or is she going to buy it from the rest of you?

Hello to everyone else. I hope you are doing well.
